Short answer: Amazon has launched Amazon Pharmacy Kiosks, but they are not a nationwide network of public vending machines. The pilot began in December 2025 at selected One Medical offices in the greater Los Angeles area. Patients need a prescription sent to Amazon Pharmacy, must pay through Amazon, and use a QR code to collect an eligible medication after a pharmacist reviews the order.
Amazon says the kiosks can let patients pick up some prescriptions within minutes of a medical appointment. That timing is not guaranteed: the clinic must participate, the medication must be stocked, and prescription, insurance, payment, and pharmacist-review requirements must all be completed.

What Amazon actually launched
Amazon calls the devices Amazon Pharmacy Kiosks. They are located inside or near participating medical offices and are designed for controlled prescription pickup—not unrestricted shopping for prescription drugs.
The process includes a valid prescription, Amazon Pharmacy processing, payment, pharmacist review, and QR-code authentication. Amazon says pharmacists remain available for questions through video or phone consultation.
#1 Best Overall
- AM/PM COMPARTMENTS: Plan doses for morning and evening with separate AM/PM compartments
- LARGE CAPACITY: Each compartment can hold 12 aspirin sized tablets
- CONTOURED BOTTOMS: Planner compartments have contoured bottoms so retrieving your medication out of the planner is simple
- CLEAR LIDS: Clear planner lids keep your medication visable to help prevent missed doses
- HEALTHY LIVING: Amazon Basic Care products make living healthier simply easier
So “vending machine” is a convenient shorthand, but it can create the wrong impression. These kiosks are closer to an in-office, pharmacist-supported pickup point than to a public machine where anyone can select medication.
Where are the kiosks available?
Amazon announced the program on October 8, 2025, with availability beginning in December 2025 at selected One Medical offices in the greater Los Angeles area. The initial announcement named offices or areas including:
- Downtown Los Angeles
- West Los Angeles
- Beverly Hills
- Long Beach
- West Hollywood
That does not mean every One Medical office in those areas participates. Amazon’s current kiosk page describes the service as a pilot at select Los Angeles-area One Medical clinics, while the company has said it plans to expand access in 2026. Check the current clinic list with Amazon or One Medical before relying on kiosk pickup.

The initial model is tied to a participating One Medical appointment. Available information does not establish that people can simply walk into a clinic as members of the general public and use a kiosk without being patients there.
How to use an Amazon Pharmacy Kiosk
- Create or use an Amazon Pharmacy account.
- Schedule an appointment at a participating One Medical location.
- Ask the provider to send the prescription to Amazon Pharmacy.
- Confirm that the medication is available for kiosk pickup.
- Select Amazon Pharmacy Kiosk as the pickup location during checkout.
- Review the insurance estimate and cash price.
- Pay for the prescription.
- Receive the QR code supplied by Amazon.
- Scan the code at the kiosk.
- Collect the medication after Amazon Pharmacy processes and reviews the prescription.
Amazon markets the experience as pickup “within minutes” after an appointment. That is an Amazon-stated service goal, not a promise that every prescription will be ready immediately. Prior authorization, insurance problems, a delayed prescription, or a medication that is not stocked can prevent same-visit pickup.
Which medications are available?
Each kiosk carries a curated inventory tailored to the prescribing patterns of that office, according to Amazon. The kiosks therefore will not necessarily contain every medication sold through Amazon Pharmacy.

- Spring Assisted Open Design. We use the latest design on this weekly pill organizer to achieve one-handed operation with the little rubber strips for the smart "lid spring open" feature. The lids are all beautifully colored and marked clearly with the date, everything is clear at a glance so you may find it easy to choose the pills you need. It's quite nice for easy daily dispensing and big enough to hold 8 fish oils or 12 large vitamins for each dose (size of each compartment: 1.3"x1.18"x0.82")
- Say Goodbye to Dumpage Pills. No worries about unwanted dumpage of pills found by pets and kids for your slightest unintentional or incidental touch on the medicine organizer. The push button stays closed once locked and securely snap shut keeping pills safe. It's small and perfectly suitable for travel and is ideal for storing small jewelry or items such as earrings, beads, nail art tips, ect.
- Premium Screen Printing. To avoid screen-printing fonts and icons falling off from the surface of the pill box, we use high-end screen printing ink and strictly do the Ink Adhesion Test with 3M Tapes before shipment. Thus, no need to be frustrated with the missing fonts of "Tuesday" or icons of "PM", and worry about mistakenly taking the wrong tablets.
- BPA-Free Material. This pill case is pretty safe because of being made of food grade materials. You would be worry-free with the BPA-free pill boxes and organizer when storing multiple pill regimes inside. With the transparent plastic lid, it's quite easy to distinguish the pills in each dose without opening the lids.
- What You Receive: 1 x AUVON iMedassist Pill Holder, our 12-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Amazon does not publish a comprehensive kiosk-specific drug list in the supplied information. Do not assume that a particular antibiotic, controlled substance, refrigerated product, specialty medication, or emergency prescription is eligible. Confirm availability for the exact medication and clinic before choosing this option.
What does kiosk pickup cost?
Amazon says there is no additional cost to use the kiosk. That does not make the prescription free. Depending on the medication and insurance, the patient may still owe:
- An insurance copay
- A deductible or coinsurance amount
- The cash price when paying without insurance
Amazon says checkout displays an insurance copay estimate and an estimated cash price through its pricing system. Compare both carefully. A cash purchase may be cheaper at checkout but may not count toward an insurance deductible or out-of-pocket maximum; how it is treated depends on the insurer and plan.

There is no evidence in the supplied material that an Amazon Prime membership is required for kiosk pickup. Prime may affect other Amazon Pharmacy delivery or savings benefits, but readers should not subscribe solely to use a kiosk unless Amazon confirms that requirement for their clinic.
Kiosk pickup versus delivery and local pharmacies
| Feature | Amazon Pharmacy kiosk | Same-day delivery | Local pharmacy |
|---|---|---|---|
| How you receive medication | In-person pickup at a participating clinic | Delivered to an eligible address | In-person pickup |
| Prescription required | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Geographic availability | Limited participating locations | Eligible cities and medications | Depends on the pharmacy |
| Inventory | Curated for the clinic | Amazon Pharmacy inventory | Store-specific |
| Pharmacist access | Video or phone consultation | Amazon pharmacist support | In-person and other local channels |
| Best fit | Medication immediately after an eligible appointment | Convenience at home | Walk-in access and an established pharmacy relationship |
Amazon’s ordinary pharmacy service lets customers send new prescriptions, transfer existing prescriptions, compare insurance and cash prices, and order medication for home delivery. The kiosk is an additional pickup option within that online pharmacy workflow, not a separate chain of walk-in pharmacies. See Amazon’s general pharmacy guide for the standard process.

When a kiosk may—or may not—make financial sense
A kiosk may be useful if:
- You are receiving care at a participating One Medical clinic.
- The medication is confirmed to be in that kiosk’s inventory.
- You need the prescription soon and want to avoid another trip.
- Amazon’s insurance price or cash price compares favorably with alternatives.
- You are comfortable using an app, QR code, and remote pharmacist consultation.
Home delivery may be better if:
- You are not near a participating kiosk.
- The prescription is a routine maintenance medication or refill.
- The kiosk does not stock the medication.
- You prefer delivery to your home or workplace.
A local pharmacy may be better if:
- You need immediate confirmation of inventory.
- You want face-to-face pharmacist counseling.
- You have an established relationship with a local pharmacist.
- An insurance, prior-authorization, or prescription problem needs rapid personal attention.
Important limitations
A prescription sent to the wrong pharmacy will not automatically appear at the kiosk. If you intend to use kiosk pickup, make sure the provider sends the prescription to Amazon Pharmacy.

Insurance approval can delay pickup. A prescription requiring prior authorization should not be treated as eligible for guaranteed pickup within minutes. Amazon’s prescriber information explains that the company may work with patients and insurers when authorization is needed, but that process can take time.
The kiosk is not a replacement for a full-service pharmacy. It has narrower inventory and a narrower use case than a traditional pharmacy. Amazon has not established through the supplied sources that every prescription category is supported.
Do not confuse kiosks with same-day delivery. Amazon said in February 2026 that same-day prescription delivery was expected to reach nearly 4,500 U.S. cities and towns by the end of 2026, up from nearly 3,000 cities and towns referenced in a May 2026 announcement. Those figures concern delivery eligibility, not the number of kiosk locations.
What this means for patients and pharmacies
The kiosks are best understood as a point-of-care access experiment: a way to connect an appointment, an online pharmacy, and immediate pickup for a limited selection of medications. They may reduce a second trip for some patients, but they do not offer the broad availability or walk-in services of ordinary retail pharmacies.
Before an appointment, confirm three things: that the clinic has a kiosk, that Amazon Pharmacy can process the prescription, and that the exact medication is available. Then compare the displayed insurance and cash prices with a local pharmacy before paying or transferring a prescription.
