AirPods Pro 2 Have Recently Hit $169.99—but Check the Seller Before You Buy

Short answer: $169.99 is a credible sale price for the USB-C version of Apple’s AirPods Pro 2, but the available retailer listings do not prove that a new pair is still available at exactly that price today. When checked on August 16, 2026, Apple listed them at $249, Walmart showed $203.99, and Best Buy showed $229 on its product page. Lower “from” prices at Best Buy may have referred to marketplace or alternate listings.

If you find a new AirPods Pro (2nd generation) set with the USB-C MagSafe Charging Case for $169 or $169.99 from a reputable seller, it is a strong deal. Verify the seller, condition, model, and final checkout price before paying.

Is the $169 AirPods Pro 2 deal real?

The price is real in the sense that AirPods Pro 2 have repeatedly reached roughly $169 to $169.99 at major retailers. Historical coverage documented a $169 or $169.99 promotion across Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy in 2025, and a price-tracking snapshot dated July 30, 2026 listed Amazon at $169.99.

  • EXTENDED BATTERY LIFE — Get up to 8 hours of listening time with Active Noise Cancellation on a single charge. Or up to 10 hours in Transparency using the Hearing Aid feature.*

That evidence does not establish that a qualifying, new pair is available at $169 right now. The key distinction is between a retailer’s own new inventory and a search-page price that may belong to a third-party seller, refurbished unit, open-box product, or different model.

For example, Best Buy’s product page showed $229 when checked, while search and sale pages displayed “more buying options” starting around $169.99. Treat that lower figure as a lead to investigate—not confirmation that Best Buy itself is selling a sealed new pair for $169.99. Walmart’s retrieved listing showed $203.99.

Check the Best Buy product page, Best Buy search results, and Best Buy sale page directly, because prices and seller options are volatile.

Apple AirPods Pro (2nd generation) with MagSafe Charging Case (USB-C) (Renewed)
  • This pre-owned product is not Apple certified, but has been professionally inspected, tested and cleaned by Amazon-qualified suppliers.

What you should be buying

The qualifying product is Apple AirPods Pro (2nd generation) with white earbuds and a USB-C MagSafe Charging Case. The H2 chip supports the Pro model’s main audio and noise-control features. Apple model identifiers commonly associated with the USB-C version include MTJV3LL/A and MTJV3AM/A, although regional suffixes can differ.

The package should include the charging case, four silicone ear-tip sizes—XS, S, M, and L—and a USB-C charging cable. Apple’s product information is available on its AirPods Pro 2 buying page.

Do not assume every low-priced listing is the same product. Confirm that the title says “AirPods Pro (2nd generation),” identifies the USB-C case, and includes the complete set rather than replacement earbuds or a replacement charging case.

Apple AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) (Renewed)
  • Active Noise Cancellation reduces unwanted background noise
  • Adaptive Transparency lets outside sounds in while reducing loud environmental noise
  • Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking places sound all around you
  • Multiple ear tips (XS, S, M, L)
  • Touch control lets you swipe to adjust volume, press to direct media playback, answer or end calls, and press and hold to switch between listening modes

What AirPods Pro 2 offer

  • Active Noise Cancellation: Designed to reduce surrounding sound during commutes, travel, and other noisy situations.
  • Adaptive Audio and Transparency mode: Lets you blend noise control with awareness of your surroundings.
  • Conversation Awareness: Automatically adjusts audio when you begin speaking.
  • Personalized Spatial Audio: Supports dynamic head tracking with compatible content and devices.
  • Voice Isolation and Siri integration: Useful for calls and hands-free Apple-device control.
  • Find My support: The charging case has its own speaker to help locate it.
  • IP54 dust, sweat, and water resistance: This is not the same as being waterproof. Do not submerge the earbuds or case.
  • Hearing features: Apple offers Hearing Test, Hearing Aid, and Hearing Protection features for compatible users, devices, firmware, and software.

Apple rates the earbuds for up to six hours of listening on one charge with ANC enabled and up to 30 hours with the case, under its stated test conditions. With Spatial Audio and head tracking enabled, Apple lists up to 5.5 hours. Calls, volume, ANC settings, Spatial Audio, and other features can reduce actual runtime. See Apple’s technical specifications and compatibility and battery guidance.

Who should buy at $169

This is an especially attractive price for an iPhone, iPad, or Mac owner who wants strong Apple-device integration, ANC, Transparency mode, Find My support, and a USB-C case without paying Apple’s full $249 price.

It also makes sense for someone upgrading from older standard AirPods or first-generation AirPods Pro, particularly if the older earbuds have degraded batteries or lack newer noise-control and hearing-related features. Buyers interested in Apple’s hearing tools should first confirm that their device, operating system, firmware, and personal circumstances meet Apple’s requirements. The Hearing Aid feature is not a universal substitute for professional hearing care; consult a hearing professional about hearing concerns.

When the deal is not worth the risk

  • The $169.99 price is labeled “from” and applies only to a marketplace listing.
  • The product is refurbished, renewed, open-box, used, or missing a clearly stated warranty.
  • The listing does not specify the second generation or USB-C case.
  • The seller has weak feedback or unclear return terms.
  • The package contains only replacement earbuds or a charging case.
  • The price requires a coupon, membership, trade-in credit, selected ZIP code, or store-specific promotion that you cannot use.
  • Shipping, delivery fees, or sales tax make the total materially higher.
  • You primarily use Android and would not benefit from Apple’s full feature set.

How to verify a $169 listing

  1. Check the exact model: Look for “AirPods Pro (2nd generation)” and the USB-C charging case.
  2. Check the condition: It should clearly say new or new in box if that is what the price claims.
  3. Identify the seller: Prefer the retailer itself or a clearly named, reputable authorized seller over an anonymous marketplace listing.
  4. Confirm the package: Make sure the charging case and ear tips are included.
  5. Read the return and warranty terms: Pay particular attention to marketplace, refurbished, and open-box policies.
  6. Review checkout: Confirm the price after coupons, membership requirements, shipping, and location-based fees.
  7. Save the order details: Keep the listing and seller information in case the delivered item does not match the description.

Alternatives to consider

AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation are Apple’s lower-cost option. Apple lists AirPods 4 at $129, compared with $249 for AirPods Pro 2. Their open-fit design may suit people who dislike silicone tips, but it creates a different seal and isolation experience than the Pro models. Compare them on Apple’s AirPods buying page.

If a newer AirPods Pro generation is available near the same price, compare its processor, ANC performance, battery claims, charging case, software features, and expected support before choosing the older Pro 2. Do not assume a search result labeled “Pro” refers to the second generation.

Android-first buyers should also compare current Sony WF-series or Bose QuietComfort earbuds. Those brands may offer better cross-platform controls or a preferred fit, but the right choice depends on the model’s current price and features.

Bottom line

At $169 or $169.99, a new, genuine USB-C AirPods Pro 2 set from a reputable seller is a strong buy—about 32% below Apple’s $249 price. But the available August 16, 2026 retailer signals do not justify saying unconditionally that the deal is available everywhere “right now.” If the live listing is $199 to $229 from a reputable retailer, it is still a discount, but buyers who are not in a hurry may reasonably wait for the recurring $169.99 promotions.
