Why a Prediction Market Deposit Is Pending or Declined—and How to Fix It

A “pending” deposit can mean three different things: a bank-card authorization that never reached the platform, a platform transaction waiting for eligibility checks, or a cryptocurrency transfer waiting for blockchain or minimum-deposit conditions. Start by identifying where the pending label appears—your prediction-market account, your bank or card app, or a block explorer—then follow the instructions for that platform and payment rail.

Do not repeat a transfer or card charge until you know whether the earlier attempt is still in flight. Kalshi card and bank deposits follow different rules from Polymarket crypto deposits, and neither platform’s timing should be used as a universal deadline for another payment method.

First, identify where the pending status appears

The same word can describe unrelated events. Use this quick triage before taking action:

Where you see the status What it usually represents Best next step
Your Kalshi balance or activity page A platform-side deposit result or processing state Open the transaction details and follow Kalshi’s instructions for the payment method shown.
Your bank or card statement, but Kalshi says the card deposit declined A temporary authorization or reversal entry at the bank; it is not proof that Kalshi received money Do not submit another charge while the entry is pending. Allow the bank’s stated release period, then contact the bank or Kalshi if it remains unresolved.
A Polymarket crypto activity page A blockchain transfer that may be below a network minimum or not yet reflected in the account Check the exact address, token, network, amount and transaction status.
A block explorer The on-chain transaction’s confirmation and destination details Use the transaction hash to establish whether the transfer succeeded before asking platform support to investigate.
A withdrawal screen Funds that posted but are temporarily unavailable for withdrawal Read the account-specific release time shown in the withdrawal flow; this is different from a failed deposit.

A bank authorization and a blockchain confirmation are not interchangeable evidence. A card line can be pending even when no funds moved to the market, while a confirmed blockchain transaction can still be absent from the platform until its deposit rules are met.

Kalshi: card deposit declined while your bank shows “pending”

Kalshi’s card guidance, dated August 13, 2026, says a declined card charge can temporarily appear as “pending” or “refunded” in the bank’s app or on the card statement. That bank-side entry does not mean Kalshi received the money or credited a deposit. Kalshi says the pending entry should release automatically within one to two business days, and no action is required during that period.

Because the bank has not completed a payment to Kalshi, do not treat the pending line as available cash and do not immediately retry the same charge. Repeating it can create another authorization to track without solving the original decline.

What to check before trying another card

  • Minimum amount: Kalshi’s current card article lists a $10 minimum deposit.
  • Debit-card fee: A debit deposit may incur a 2% processing fee. The amount shown at checkout is the relevant amount for your transaction.
  • Cardholder name: The name on the card must match the name on the Kalshi account.
  • Card eligibility: Confirm that the card network is supported. The cited Kalshi article says American Express is not supported.
  • VPN: Disable an active VPN before retrying. A changed or masked location can interfere with payment checks.
  • Issuer restrictions: Ask the bank whether it blocked the authorization, treated it as a cash advance, or applied another merchant or online-gambling restriction.

Credit-card processing fees can vary, and the card issuer may separately impose a cash-advance fee or interest. Those issuer charges are not the same as Kalshi’s stated debit processing fee.

Step-by-step recovery

  1. Open the Kalshi activity or deposit screen and confirm that the platform marks the attempt as declined.
  2. Open the bank or card app and note the authorization date, amount and current label. Keep a screenshot or statement entry for support, but do not assume it proves receipt.
  3. Wait up to one to two business days for the bank-side pending entry to disappear or reverse, as Kalshi describes for this situation.
  4. If you still need to fund the account, check the minimum, name match, supported card network and VPN setting before using a different eligible card.
  5. If the bank entry remains after that period, ask the bank whether the authorization was released. If the bank says it settled but Kalshi shows no credit, contact Kalshi through its official app or website with the amount, time and activity record.

If Kalshi’s activity page shows a genuine failed deposit rather than a bank-only authorization, Kalshi recommends trying a different card or contacting the bank about restrictions. Do not describe a pending bank line as a completed deposit when speaking with either support team.

Kalshi: bank linking or ACH setup does not work

Bank linking is a separate problem from an initiated ACH deposit. Kalshi’s bank-link instructions say the feature is for users in the United States and that the bank account must be in the user’s name. The linking flow uses ACH partners Plaid or Aeropay.

Fix the connection before assuming a transfer is processing

  1. Sign in to the bank directly, outside the Kalshi linking window, and verify that the username and password work.
  2. Check whether the bank requires approval for third-party access, data sharing or account aggregation. Complete that approval if the bank presents it.
  3. Return to Kalshi and select the correct bank account in your own name.
  4. Try a different browser or device. Disable browser extensions that modify pages or block scripts.
  5. Turn off any VPN and retry from a normal connection.
  6. If the bank’s systems may be unavailable, wait one to two hours before trying again rather than repeatedly submitting the same request.
  7. For a bank-specific connection error that persists, use the applicable partner’s official support route—Plaid support for a Plaid flow or Aeropay support for an Aeropay flow—and retain the exact error message.

These checks address the ability to link the bank. They do not establish how long an ACH deposit takes after it has been initiated. Kalshi’s card authorization release period is not an ACH service-level estimate, and a definitive Kalshi ACH pending or decline timeline is not specified here.

Polymarket: a crypto deposit remains pending

Polymarket crypto deposits depend on the blockchain network, token and amount you send. Polymarket says each account has a fixed deposit address, and addresses differ by network. Always copy the address displayed under the same profile and select the matching chain before sending.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Polymarket’s June 8, 2026 deposit guidance says transfers below the applicable network minimum remain pending until cumulative deposits meet that minimum. The page gives $20 for Ethereum and $3 for Solana as examples. These are examples from that dated help page, not a permanent or exhaustive list of thresholds. The live deposit screen for the selected network is the authority for the amount required when you send.

Checks for a pending transfer

  1. Open Polymarket’s deposit screen while signed in to the intended account.
  2. Confirm the displayed network and token exactly match the network and token selected in your wallet.
  3. Compare the destination address character by character with the address shown for that network. Do not rely on a previously saved address if the profile or chain has changed.
  4. Check the amount against the current minimum shown by Polymarket. A transfer under the threshold may stay pending until cumulative deposits reach the required amount.
  5. Locate the transaction hash in your wallet and view it on an appropriate block explorer for that chain.
  6. After the transaction confirms, refresh the Polymarket page. If necessary, sign out and sign back in to refresh the account state.

For future deposits, Polymarket advises testing with a small amount before sending a larger one and double-checking both the address and chain. A transfer sent to the wrong address or network may be irreversible, so do not send an additional “test” transaction until the original destination has been verified.

Polymarket: the blockchain transfer is confirmed but the deposit is missing

Polymarket’s June 4, 2026 recovery guide distinguishes a transfer made through Deposit → Transfer Crypto from tokens sent directly to a profile address. The recovery process below applies to a missing deposit made through the deposit flow.

Verify the transaction before contacting support

  1. Find the transaction hash in the sending wallet or exchange.
  2. Open the appropriate block explorer for the network used. Confirm that the transaction succeeded, not merely that it was broadcast or pending.
  3. Verify the destination address is the Polymarket address for the same profile and network.
  4. Verify the token contract or asset, network and transferred amount.
  5. Check the applicable minimum. A confirmed transfer can still remain uncredited if it does not satisfy the current network threshold.
  6. If the guide’s 10-minute interval has passed after a successful confirmation, refresh the deposit page and sign out and back in.
  7. If the confirmed transfer is still absent, contact Polymarket through its official support channel and include the transaction hash, token, approximate amount and network.

The hash is the strongest evidence support can use to locate an on-chain transfer. A wallet screenshot without the hash may not establish the destination, confirmation state or asset.

When recovery may not be possible

Polymarket warns that some wrong-token or wrong-network cases cannot be recovered. The same warning applies to funds sent to someone else’s address or tokens sent directly to a CTF exchange contract. Recovery instructions are conditional and do not guarantee that funds can be returned.

Do not attempt a recovery transaction, send an additional fee or give anyone access to your wallet unless the official Polymarket instructions specifically direct you to do so after the address and transaction have been checked. Treat unsolicited “recovery” offers as suspicious.

Kalshi: a crypto deposit is still processing

Kalshi says crypto deposits typically take up to 30 minutes to be applied to the cash balance. Blockchain congestion can extend that period. This estimate applies to Kalshi crypto deposits only; it is not a deadline for card, bank or ACH funding.

  1. Copy the transaction hash from the sending wallet.
  2. Check the transaction on the relevant blockchain explorer and confirm whether it has enough confirmations for the network.
  3. Compare the destination address and asset with the deposit instructions shown in Kalshi.
  4. Allow for network congestion rather than initiating a second transfer.
  5. If the transaction remains problematic, contact Kalshi support with the hash, amount, asset, destination and approximate send time.

A confirmed on-chain transfer and a credited Kalshi balance are separate events. The hash shows what happened on the network; the platform must still match and apply the deposit to your account.

Deposit posted, but withdrawal is unavailable

A successful deposit does not always make every dollar immediately withdrawable. Kalshi says some deposited funds can have temporary withdrawal holds depending on the deposit method and destination. The in-app withdrawal screen shows the exact release time for that account.

Read that account-specific time before opening a duplicate deposit or assuming the original funding failed. A withdrawal hold concerns access to funds after posting; it does not by itself show that the deposit was declined.

A decision path that avoids duplicate payments

Use this sequence whenever the status is unclear:

  1. Name the platform: Kalshi and Polymarket use different payment rails and help procedures.
  2. Name the rail: card authorization, bank-link or ACH setup, Kalshi crypto, or Polymarket crypto.
  3. Locate the status: platform activity, bank statement, wallet, or block explorer.
  4. Establish completion: a declined authorization is not a settled payment; a bank pending line is not a platform credit; a blockchain confirmation is not automatically an account balance.
  5. Check constraints: region, supported instrument, account and cardholder name, token, network, destination address and minimum amount.
  6. Preserve evidence: record the timestamp, amount, platform activity entry, bank notification and transaction hash where applicable.
  7. Contact the correct official channel: use the platform’s app or website, your bank for an issuer-side restriction, or the relevant payment partner for a bank-link connection failure.

What to include in a support request

A concise, complete report reduces back-and-forth. Include only information the official support channel requests, and never send a private key, seed phrase or full card number.

  • Your account email or other identifier requested by the platform
  • Deposit method and platform
  • Approximate date and time, including time zone if relevant
  • Amount and currency or token
  • Current status shown in the platform, bank app or explorer
  • Screenshot of the status with sensitive numbers redacted
  • Transaction hash for a crypto transfer
  • Network and token for a crypto transfer
  • Exact error message for a bank-link failure

For a Kalshi card issue, explain separately what Kalshi displays and what the bank displays. For a Polymarket issue, state whether the transaction was made through the deposit flow or sent directly to an address, then provide the hash and network.

Common mistakes that make a pending deposit worse

  • Retrying while an authorization is pending: this can create multiple bank holds without creating a credit.
  • Assuming the bank’s label is the platform’s result: a bank can show pending or refunded after Kalshi declines the card.
  • Using a card in a different person’s name: Kalshi’s card guidance requires a name match.
  • Leaving a VPN or blocking extension enabled: this can disrupt card checks or bank-link authentication.
  • Using a saved crypto address on the wrong chain: Polymarket addresses differ by network.
  • Ignoring a minimum deposit: a below-threshold Polymarket transfer can remain pending even after confirmation.
  • Sending a second crypto transfer to “unstick” the first: verify the original hash, address and minimum first.
  • Paying an unofficial recovery fee: use only instructions from the platform’s official support channel.

How long should you wait?

Use only the estimate that belongs to your exact rail. For the Kalshi card scenario in which the platform declined the charge but the bank shows a pending authorization, Kalshi says one to two business days for the bank-side entry to release. Kalshi’s up-to-30-minute statement applies to crypto deposits and may be extended by blockchain congestion. Polymarket’s pending status can persist when a transfer is below the current network minimum, and the platform’s recovery guidance uses a 10-minute checkpoint after a successful confirmation for a missing deposit-flow transfer.

Those figures do not create a universal prediction-market deposit deadline. Card, ACH, and blockchain transactions have different intermediaries, evidence and failure modes. If the relevant period has passed, contact the party that controls the unresolved step rather than repeating the payment.
