It became wholly owned by acquisition vehicle Ouroboros (I) Inc. after a 2022 privatization led by co-founder Min-Liang Tan and major shareholder Lim Kaling, with CVC Capital Partners participating through CVC HoldCo. Tan remains Razer’s co-founder and CEO, but public materials do not establish that he is its sole owner or disclose a current ownership split.
Who owns Razer now?
Razer Inc. sits within a private holding-company structure formed for its 2022 buyout. In the structure described in the Hong Kong scheme document, Ouroboros (I) Inc. became Razer’s direct owner; Ouroboros (II) Inc. sits above it, and both are beneath TopCo. The interests and governance arrangements above Razer involved Tan, Lim and CVC HoldCo.

That distinction matters: the operating company’s direct legal owner is not the same thing as the people and investor interests above it. The transaction made Razer wholly owned by the offeror, Ouroboros (I) Inc.; it did not make Tan the publicly documented 100% owner. The 2022 document describes the transaction architecture, not a current 2026 cap table. HKEX scheme document

How Razer went private
Razer had been listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under ticker 1337. A privatization proposal was announced in late 2021; the scheme document was dated March 30, 2022, and the transaction culminated in the withdrawal of the Hong Kong listing in 2022. The sequence is recorded in HKEX’s Razer listing records.

Under the scheme, non-founder scheme shares were cancelled for HK$2.82 per share. Founder shares were handled through the TopCo consideration structure, and new shares were issued to the offeror so Razer became wholly owned by it. Public shareholders therefore ceased to hold directly traded Razer shares when the listing was withdrawn. The HK$2.82 figure is the scheme’s per-share cash consideration for non-founder scheme shares, not a current share price or a statement of the company’s total purchase price. HKEX scheme document

Min-Liang Tan: founder and operating leader
Razer identifies Tan as a co-founder and CEO. Its company profile also lists him as chairman; a 2026 company announcement continued to describe him as co-founder and CEO. Before the privatization, Tan was deemed interested in approximately 34.10% of Razer’s issued shares, including direct and trust-linked interests. That was a disclosed pre-buyout interest in the listed company; it should not be carried forward as his current percentage in the private holding structure. HKEX scheme document
Lim Kaling: major shareholder and founder-group participant
Lim was a major early shareholder and a Razer director. Before privatization, he was deemed interested in approximately 23.28% of the listed company, including interests held through entities he controlled. Those shares were part of the pre-buyout picture, not a disclosed current stake. HKEX scheme document

CVC Capital Partners: financial sponsor
CVC participated through CVC HoldCo, which was responsible for funding the cash consideration required for the privatization and received an interest in the TopCo structure. CVC HoldCo also paid US$100 million for a transfer of TopCo shares from Chen Family Trust SPV 2, a separate share-transfer arrangement described in the scheme document. That amount is not the scheme’s per-share cash-out price or, by itself, the total value of the buyout.

Who founded Razer, and who runs it?
Razer’s company history identifies Min-Liang Tan and Robert Krakoff as co-founders of the modern Razer business. Tan remains the public-facing operating leader. Razer’s company profile lists Kheng Joo Khaw as chief operating officer and Tan Chong Neng as chief financial officer and executive director, alongside Tan’s CEO role. Razer company history; Razer company profile
Management titles describe responsibility for running the business; they are not a substitute for shareholder disclosures. Krakoff’s founding role is part of Razer’s history, not evidence of present ownership.
Is Razer owned by Singapore, China or the United States?
None of those country labels alone answers the ownership question. Razer is incorporated in the Cayman Islands; it has major corporate operations and historical headquarters in the United States and Singapore, and its shares were formerly listed in Hong Kong. Its current ownership is held through private companies and the founder-linked/CVC structure described above. Incorporation, operating locations, a former exchange listing and ultimate ownership are distinct facts. HKEX scheme document
What is known—and not known—about Razer’s ownership today?
The transaction documents establish that Razer became wholly owned by Ouroboros (I) Inc. and describe the TopCo consortium’s governance and financing. Razer’s current public materials establish Tan’s continuing leadership. The available public materials do not establish a current 2026 percentage split among Tan, Lim and CVC or prove that the 2022 ownership percentages and structure remain unchanged in every detail.
Razer previously disclosed venture backing, including a 2011 US$50 million funding round led by IDG-Accel. That historical funding does not establish that those early investors remain owners after the later privatization. Razer funding announcement
