The five bank-issued e-money cards MRT Jakarta lists for fare payment are Mandiri e-Money, BCA Flazz, BRI BRIZZI, BNI TapCash, and Bank Jakarta JakCard. They are stored-value transit cards, not ordinary debit or credit cards tapped directly at the gate. MRT Jakarta also accepts several non-card routes, including QRIS Tap on an NFC-enabled Android phone, MyMRTJ app purchases, QR tickets from MyMRTJ Lite vending machines, and Single Trip Tickets. Payment rules can change, so verify the operator’s current notice before travelling.
The five cards MRT Jakarta names
MRT Jakarta’s payment summaries identify these bank e-money products as fare-payment methods:

| Card | Issuer or institution | What the official MRT information establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Mandiri e-Money | Bank Mandiri | Named by MRT Jakarta as an accepted bank electronic card. |
| Flazz BCA | Bank Central Asia | Named as an accepted bank electronic card; the operator’s newer summaries use the name “Flazz BCA.” |
| BRIZZI BRI | Bank Rakyat Indonesia | Named as an accepted bank electronic card; newer summaries use “BRIZZI BRI.” |
| TapCash BNI | Bank Negara Indonesia | Named as an accepted bank electronic card; newer summaries use “TapCash BNI.” |
| JakCard Bank Jakarta | Bank Jakarta | Named as an accepted bank electronic card; newer summaries use “JakCard Bank Jakarta.” |
These are the direct answer to “Which e-money cards work for MRT Jakarta?” The operator does not present a single current document detailing each card’s sale points, reload process, balance limits, visitor eligibility, or fees. Those conditions can differ by issuer and location, so check the issuer and MRT Jakarta immediately before your trip.

The five products are electronic-money cards loaded with stored value. They should not be confused with a normal debit or credit card that you tap at a contactless bank-card reader. MRT Jakarta’s published fare information names the five e-money cards as gate-payment methods, but it does not say that all ordinary debit and credit cards can be tapped directly at the gates.
#1 Best Overall
At a practical level, a traveller needs a card with enough value for the journey, then follows the station’s entry and exit process. Keep the same card available until you leave the system: the gate records both parts of the trip, and switching cards can prevent the journey from closing correctly.
How to travel with a bank e-money card
- Choose one of the five named cards. Use the exact product name shown in the table rather than assuming every card issued by the same bank is accepted.
- Check its balance before entering. MRT Jakarta’s public summaries do not state a universal minimum balance or a universal top-up location. Confirm the card’s balance and reload options with its issuer or at a station facility that explicitly supports that card.
- Tap at the entry gate. Present the card to the reader and wait for the gate to approve the entry.
- Keep the card separate. Do not present a wallet containing several contactless cards, because the reader may detect the wrong card or fail to read one cleanly.
- Tap the same card at exit. The card used to enter must be available when leaving so the system can calculate and close the trip.
- Keep the card until the journey is complete. Do not hand it to another traveller or attempt a second entry before confirming that your own trip has ended.
The operator’s current notices do not provide a card-by-card comparison of fees, reload channels, or where visitors can buy each product. Treat those details as issuer-specific rather than assuming that an option available for one card applies to all five.
QRIS Tap: a phone-based alternative
QRIS Tap is not a physical card. MRT Jakarta says it works with an NFC-enabled Android phone and a participating bank or e-wallet application that supports QRIS Tap. The method has been usable at MRT Jakarta stations since 30 October 2025, according to the operator’s QRIS Tap article.

- Prepare a supported app. Install or open a bank or e-wallet app that offers QRIS Tap, and complete any sign-in or balance requirements before reaching the gate.
- Turn on NFC. QRIS Tap requires NFC on an Android device. An iPhone or an Android phone without NFC does not meet the capability specified by MRT Jakarta.
- Find the yellow sticker. The operator’s instructions direct passengers to scan the yellow QRIS Tap sticker at the gate when entering.
- Repeat at exit. Scan the yellow sticker again when leaving. Both scans are needed to record the journey.
MRT Jakarta’s business-development director, Farchad Mahfud, described the launch as adding more payment choices for travel tickets: “Langkah ini akan memudahkan para pelanggan dengan menambah pilihan metode pembayaran tiket perjalanan,” translated by the operator as, “This step will make it easier for customers by adding more payment method choices for travel tickets.” App compatibility can change, so check the current list in your payment app and the latest station guidance.

MyMRTJ and MyMRTJ Lite options
You can also travel without one of the five physical cards.
MyMRTJ app
MRT Jakarta’s payment summary lists app-based choices that include iSaku, AstraPay, blu by BCA, Mastercard, GoPay, Kredivo, and Yup. These are payment choices inside the MyMRTJ purchasing flow; they are not additional cards that you tap at the gate. The operator cautions through its changing notices that exact availability may change.
MyMRTJ Lite vending machines
At MyMRTJ Lite ticket vending machines, the operator’s New Year’s Eve 2026 notice lists QRIS, debit-card, and credit-card payment. This means a debit or credit card can be useful for buying a QR ticket at the machine even though MRT Jakarta does not establish that ordinary debit or credit cards can be tapped directly at the fare gates.

Single Trip Tickets
MRT Jakarta identifies Single Trip Tickets as another route. A Single Trip Ticket is purchased for a journey rather than being a reusable bank e-money card. Availability and purchase arrangements should be confirmed at the station or through the operator’s current instructions.

Station counters
A December 2025 special-event notice also refers to buying tickets directly at station counters. That notice does not specify every tender type in the payment paragraph, so do not assume that a counter accepts a particular card, cash, or app unless the current notice says so.
Cards and methods you should not assume are current
MRT Jakarta’s Multi Trip Ticket
MRT Jakarta announced that its own Multi Trip Ticket (often abbreviated MTT) was deactivated effective 31 October 2024. Do not buy or rely on an old MTT based on an earlier article or a second-hand travel guide.
Older references to KMT Commuterline and JakLingko
Older operator notices mention KMT Commuterline and JakLingko cards. Those references are date-specific and are not, by themselves, a current acceptance list. Use them only if a newer MRT Jakarta notice confirms acceptance for your travel date.

The official summaries name specific stored-value products, not a blanket “any Visa or Mastercard contactless card” policy at the gates. A debit or credit card is explicitly listed for payment at MyMRTJ Lite vending machines in the cited 2025 notice, but that is different from tapping the card at the entry and exit gates.

How common each payment route was in 2024
PT MRT Jakarta’s 2024 Annual Report, published in 2025, records ridership counts by payment method. These are calendar-year journey counts, not today’s market shares or a forecast:
| Payment method | 2024 ridership count | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Single Trip Ticket | 452,882 | Journeys recorded in calendar year 2024. |
| Multi-Trip Ticket | 1,470,585 | Journeys recorded before the MTT deactivation took effect on 31 October 2024. |
| Bank Electronic Card | 22,672,766 | Journeys recorded through bank electronic cards, including the named e-money products. |
| JakLingko | 2,697,549 | Journeys recorded under that method in the 2024 report; the figure does not establish current acceptance. |
The same annual report says bank electronic cards represented 55.54% of total ridership in 2024. Because the MTT was later deactivated and payment offerings have since expanded, this historical percentage should not be treated as a current split.

You already have an Indonesian bank e-money card
Use one of the five products named by MRT Jakarta, provided it has sufficient value and remains valid under the current station guidance. This avoids buying a separate journey ticket, but you are responsible for checking balance and reload access.
You have an NFC Android phone
QRIS Tap may be the simplest card-free option if your bank or e-wallet app supports it. Confirm NFC is enabled and be ready to scan the yellow sticker at both gates.
Best Value
- It can be a gift option
- Comes with secure packaging
- Helpful in various ways
You have only a debit or credit card
Use it where the current MyMRTJ Lite vending-machine instructions permit it, such as the QRIS, debit, or credit payment listed in the December 2025 special-event notice. Do not infer that the same card can be tapped at the gates.
You are making one trip
A Single Trip Ticket or a QR ticket purchased through the available MyMRTJ route can avoid obtaining a reusable stored-value card. Confirm whether the counter, app, or vending machine is operating and which payment tenders it accepts.
You are travelling during a major event
Special-event schedules can add or change purchase arrangements. Read the event-specific MRT Jakarta notice, especially for counter sales, operating hours, and machine availability.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteCommon problems and fixes
- Entry works but exit fails: present the same physical card or phone method used for entry. Check that you did not switch cards or apps.
- The card is declined: check stored value, card status, and whether the product is one of the five named by MRT Jakarta. Ask station staff before attempting repeated taps.
- QRIS Tap does not respond: confirm that NFC is enabled, the phone is Android, the app supports QRIS Tap, and you are scanning the yellow sticker rather than an unrelated code.
- A vending-machine payment succeeds but no ticket appears: retain the transaction confirmation and contact station staff; do not immediately pay again without checking whether the first purchase completed.
- An old guide recommends MTT, KMT, or JakLingko: check the publication date and seek a newer operator notice. The MTT deactivation date is 31 October 2024, and older card references are not proof of current acceptance.
Before you leave for the station
- Record the exact name of your card or payment app.
- Check its balance, app login, and phone battery.
- For QRIS Tap, enable NFC and confirm Android compatibility.
- Carry a backup route, such as the ability to buy a Single Trip Ticket or QR ticket, if your primary method fails.
- Check MRT Jakarta’s latest service or event notice because payment methods, counters, and machine availability can change.
For a direct card answer, choose Mandiri e-Money, Flazz BCA, BRIZZI BRI, TapCash BNI, or JakCard Bank Jakarta. For a card-free trip, use a supported QRIS Tap setup, MyMRTJ, MyMRTJ Lite, or a Single Trip Ticket according to the current station instructions.
