If a BCA credit card is declined at an MRT Jakarta gate, first confirm that you are using the EMV/contactless reader and that the card is a Visa or Mastercard-branded BCA credit card with Contactless Transactions enabled. In myBCA, open Settings → Credit Card → Credit Card Control, turn on Contactless Transactions, and enter your myBCA PIN.
Try the same card again at the correct reader. If it still fails, ask a station officer for assistance or use a supported stored-value card at the appropriate JakLingko reader. The available guidance does not reveal the authorization reason for any individual decline, so repeated attempts alone cannot diagnose the account.

Keep the distinction between the payment method and the gate reader in mind. A contactless credit-card tap and a stored-value-card tap use different systems, so changing readers may solve a routing mistake but will not override an issuer decision.

- Identify the reader. MRT Jakarta gates use different payment readers. EMV/contactless credit cards go on the EMV reader. Stored-value cards, including Flazz, go on a JakLingko reader. If you tapped the wrong device, move to the reader intended for your payment method.
- Confirm that the card qualifies. BCA’s MRT Jakarta guidance covers BCA credit cards carrying a Visa or Mastercard logo. The card also needs its contactless function active. Check the logo on the physical card rather than assuming that every BCA-issued card uses the same fare path.
- Enable contactless in myBCA. Follow Settings → Credit Card → Credit Card Control → Contactless Transactions, switch the control on, and authenticate with your myBCA PIN.
- Present one card correctly. Remove other contactless cards from a wallet or sleeve, hold the intended card over the EMV symbol, and keep it there until the gate responds. A quick pass, a crowded wallet, or presenting the card to the wrong terminal can look like a failed payment even when the account itself is eligible.
- Tap again using the same card. Hold the card over the EMV symbol until the gate responds. If you entered with one EMV card, use that same card at the exit; do not try to complete the journey with a different payment card.
- Ask station staff if the gate still rejects it. An officer can confirm that you are at the correct reader and help you move to another supported fare method. There is no published BCA-specific gate error code or guaranteed retry sequence, so avoid repeated taps that do not change the result.
- Contact BCA if the account may be the issue. BCA says contactless controls can also be managed through BCA mobile. If you have neither app, contact Halo BCA at 1500888 or use the Halo BCA app. BCA requires customer verification before discussing account details.
Before leaving the gate area, note the station, time, reader type, and exact screen message. Those details help staff distinguish a terminal or routing problem from a card-account authorization problem.

Make sure you are using the right MRT payment reader
The most common practical mistake is treating every gate terminal as interchangeable. Jakarta’s MRT payment setup separates EMV contactless bank cards from stored-value cards. A BCA credit card is not used in the same way as a Flazz card.
| Payment method | Reader at the gate | What to check | Journey rule |
|---|---|---|---|
| BCA Visa or Mastercard credit card | EMV/contactless reader | Contactless Transactions is active and the card carries a Visa or Mastercard logo | Use the same EMV card for entry and exit |
| Flazz BCA and other listed bank-issued stored-value cards | JakLingko reader | Use a reader that accepts the stored-value product | Follow the station’s instructions for that fare system |
If you present a credit card to a JakLingko reader, or a Flazz card to an EMV reader, the gate may not recognize the payment method. When the terminal layout is unclear, ask the nearest officer rather than moving between gates at random.
The reader type also determines what kind of troubleshooting is relevant. Contactless-card controls in a banking app matter for an EMV credit card; they do not turn a Flazz card into an EMV credential. Conversely, a stored-value balance or the reader’s acceptance of that product matters to a JakLingko transaction, not to the Visa or Mastercard control in myBCA.
How to activate BCA contactless transactions
Using myBCA
- Open the myBCA app and sign in.
- Choose Settings.
- Select Credit Card.
- Open Credit Card Control.
- Enable Contactless Transactions.
- Enter your myBCA PIN when prompted.
After the control is enabled, return to the EMV reader and try the card again. Enabling the setting is a documented eligibility check, not a promise that every decline will disappear: an account can still be refused for another authorization reason. If the app does not show the card or the control, do not guess at settings; ask BCA to verify the card and account.
If you use BCA mobile or neither app
BCA states that contactless card controls are available in BCA mobile as well as myBCA. Customers without either app can call Halo BCA at 1500888 or use the Halo BCA app. Have the cardholder available for verification. Do not give a stranger your PIN or one-time authentication code while seeking help at the station.
Station staff can help with the physical gate and reader, but they cannot be assumed to see private BCA account information. Conversely, a BCA representative can discuss the account after verification but may not be able to correct a gate-side handling mistake. Using each support channel for the part it controls is usually faster than repeating the same tap.

What a decline may mean—and what it does not prove
Bank Mandiri’s current EMV Transit FAQ lists several general reasons a contactless transit card may fail: the card may not support contactless payments, the account may lack sufficient available balance or limit, the card category may not be supported, or the card may be denylisted. Those are general EMV-transit possibilities, not a diagnosis of a particular BCA account.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Contactless is unsupported or switched off
A BCA card without a Visa or Mastercard logo is outside the card type identified in BCA’s MRT Jakarta guidance. A qualifying card can also be unusable when its Contactless Transactions control is off. Check the control before assuming the gate or account is defective.
Available limit or authorization problem
A transit authorization can fail even when the physical card looks normal. An insufficient available limit is one general possibility named in EMV Transit guidance. The station gate does not publish enough information to tell you whether that, a fraud control, or another issuer decision caused the refusal. A successful purchase elsewhere would not by itself prove that the MRT authorization should succeed.
Unsupported category or denylisting
Some card categories may not be accepted by a particular transit implementation, and an issuer or transit system can denylist a card. Do not conclude that your BCA card is denylisted from one failed tap. Ask BCA or station staff to check the account and payment path. Only the relevant support channel can confirm whether a restriction applies.
Reader or presentation problem
The card may have been presented to the wrong reader, removed too quickly, or blocked by a wallet containing several contactless cards. Use the EMV terminal, present one card at a time, and wait for the gate’s response. These handling checks can eliminate a reader interaction error, but they cannot identify an issuer authorization decision.

EMV transit gates associate the entry and exit taps with the payment card used to begin the journey. If you entered with your BCA credit card, present that same card when leaving. Switching to another card can prevent the system from matching the trip, even if the second card is otherwise valid.

Keep the physical card, or the same supported wallet credential if the system accepts it, available until you exit. If the original card is lost, damaged, or unavailable, do not improvise by tapping random cards; ask station staff to resolve the unmatched journey. Tell the officer which card was used at entry, even if the card is no longer working, so the trip can be handled through the proper support process.
When a stored-value alternative makes sense
A stored-value card is an alternative fare method, not a repair for a declined BCA credit card. A Jakarta government report dated 9 October 2026 says Flazz BCA and other named bank-issued stored-value cards are accepted at JakLingko readers at MRT passenger gates beginning 12 October 2026. Those cards belong on the JakLingko reader, while EMV/contactless credit cards remain on the EMV reader.
The available announcement does not provide a complete comparison of every issuer’s eligibility, top-up location, fees, or balance rules. Before relying on a stored-value card, confirm with station staff that the card and reader match. If you already carry a usable supported card, this can be the quickest way to continue without waiting for an account investigation. If you do not already have one, ask the station what options are currently available rather than assuming a card can be purchased or topped up at every gate.

A practical decision path
- The gate did not react at all: check that you are at the EMV reader, remove other cards from the wallet, and present the BCA card flat over the contactless symbol.
- The gate displayed a decline: verify the Visa or Mastercard logo and the Contactless Transactions setting in myBCA or BCA mobile, then try the same card once more.
- The card still fails: stop repeated taps, ask an officer to check the reader and fare path, and contact BCA if account verification is needed.
- You need to travel immediately: ask which JakLingko reader accepts a supported stored-value card, such as Flazz BCA, and use that alternative only after confirming the reader.
- You cannot exit: present the same EMV card used for entry and request staff assistance if the gate does not match the trip.
- You are unsure which system you used: show the card to staff and describe the entry tap. Do not switch payment cards at the exit until the officer explains how to resolve the journey.
Why this payment option is relatively new
Jakarta launched credit-card contactless or EMV payment for MRT Jakarta on 29 July 2026. In the launch announcement, Governor Pramono Anung described it as Indonesia’s first system of its kind and said passengers could use Visa and Mastercard credit cards without buying a special card. The announcement also cited more than 2.5 million international visitors to Jakarta during 2024, placing the rollout in the context of a large and increasingly international passenger base.
The launch date matters when troubleshooting: a contactless bank-card gate is different from the older stored-value-card workflow, and station signage may direct each payment type to a different terminal. The distinction between EMV and JakLingko readers is therefore a core part of resolving a failed tap. Newer readers and recently expanded acceptance also mean that staff are the appropriate source for a gate-specific routing question.

What to tell BCA or station staff
Give staff the details that let them separate a reader problem from an account problem:
Recommended Free Tools
- the station and gate where the attempt occurred;
- whether you used the EMV or JakLingko reader;
- whether the card carries a Visa or Mastercard logo;
- whether Contactless Transactions is enabled in myBCA or BCA mobile;
- whether the same card was used for entry and the attempted exit;
- the exact message or behavior shown by the gate; and
- whether another card or reader was tried, and what happened.
Do not infer a guaranteed repair time from a single support interaction. The published guidance provides checks and alternatives, but it does not promise how quickly an individual BCA authorization issue will be corrected. Keep any support reference or station instructions so you can describe the same incident if you need to call BCA later.
Frequently asked questions
Can any BCA credit card be tapped at MRT Jakarta?
BCA’s published MRT Jakarta guidance identifies BCA credit cards carrying Visa or Mastercard logos, with Contactless Transactions active. It does not say that every BCA card category is automatically eligible.
Will turning on contactless definitely fix the decline?
No. Activating the control removes one possible eligibility problem. A decline can still relate to available limit, card category, denylisting, reader handling, or another authorization decision.
Can I use Flazz on the EMV reader?
No. Flazz is a stored-value product identified for JakLingko readers. Use the reader intended for the card and ask station staff if the gate layout is unclear.
What if my card worked at entry but not at exit?
Present the same card used at entry and ask an officer for help. Do not substitute a different card, because the system needs to match the entry and exit taps.

Who should I contact when the card keeps failing?
Ask station staff to check the reader and payment path. For account or contactless-control questions, contact BCA through myBCA, BCA mobile, Halo BCA at 1500888, or the Halo BCA app. Verification is required for account assistance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can any BCA credit card be tapped at MRT Jakarta?
BCA’s MRT Jakarta guidance identifies BCA Visa- or Mastercard-branded credit cards with Contactless Transactions active. It does not establish that every BCA card category is eligible.
Will enabling Contactless Transactions definitely fix the decline?
No. It addresses one possible eligibility issue, but a decline may have another authorization, limit, category, denylisting, reader, or presentation cause.

Can I use Flazz on the EMV reader?
No. Flazz is a stored-value card for a JakLingko reader. Use the reader intended for the payment type and ask staff if you are unsure.
What if the card worked at entry but not at exit?
Use the same card used at entry and ask station staff for assistance. Do not substitute another card, because the trip must be matched to the original entry tap.
How do I contact BCA about the card?
Use myBCA or BCA mobile for contactless controls, or contact Halo BCA at 1500888 or through the Halo BCA app. BCA requires verification.
The Bottom Line
Use the EMV reader for a BCA Visa or Mastercard credit card, make sure Contactless Transactions is active, and use that same card at entry and exit. If it still declines, stop repeated attempts, ask MRT staff to check the reader, and contact BCA for account verification. A Flazz or other supported stored-value card is an alternative at a JakLingko reader, not a fix for the declined credit card.
