Before paying for a drive-through safari ticket, confirm exactly what the admission includes, how the price is calculated, whether your vehicle is allowed, and what time you must arrive. Safari parks use materially different rules: one ticket may include a village or walk-through area, while another covers only the driving route; some charge per person, others use a vehicle rate, and some do not admit the final car until well before closing.
Use the checklist below for the specific park, date and seller you plan to use. The examples are from operators in the United States, Japan and the United Arab Emirates and illustrate variation, not universal standards. Ticket prices, hours, closures and animal-safety rules can change, so check the chosen park’s official ticket and visitor-information pages on the day you buy and again shortly before departure.

1. Confirm what the ticket actually includes
The phrase “drive-through safari” does not identify a standard package. A ticket can cover the vehicle route alone or combine several parts of the property. Read the inclusions printed on the ticket, not just the attraction name in an advertisement.
Look for every included area
- Drive-through route and the number of entries permitted, if stated.
- Walk-through village, zoo or viewing area.
- Shuttle, tram, wagon ride or guided tour.
- Animal encounters, feeding sessions or other timed experiences.
- Parking, if the operator treats it as a separate charge.
Alabama Safari Park states that its admission includes both the drive-through and village. That is an operator-specific inclusion; it does not establish that another park’s basic ticket includes a walk-through section. Wild Animal Safari Georgia, for example, describes a walk-about area alongside its drive-through and advises allowing time for both sections, but you should still verify whether your selected ticket covers both.

Separate add-ons from admission
Dubai Safari Park’s terms say add-ons are excluded unless the ticket specifically states otherwise. A bus ride, navigation-car experience, encounter or feeding opportunity may therefore require a separate purchase or reservation. Fuji Safari Park describes separately priced bus and navigation-car experiences. Ask whether an add-on is optional, timed, capacity-limited or refundable before you add it at checkout.
Also check whether an add-on requires a separate ticket scan, a particular arrival time or a minimum number of participants. A walk-through may be open only during part of the day, while a bus or encounter can sell out even when general admission remains available. If your group is buying through different sellers, confirm that every ticket grants access to the same areas and date.
Ask a precise inclusion question
Before payment, ask the ticket seller: “Does this admission cover only the drive-through, or also the village, walk-through, shuttle, tour and encounters?” Save the answer with your confirmation email. If the ticket wording is unclear, treat an experience as excluded until the park confirms it in writing.

A low-looking price can be misleading when the park charges each passenger rather than each vehicle, requires a date-specific ticket or applies a third-party seller’s refund policy. Work out the total for your group before comparing options.
Per person or per vehicle?
Virginia Safari Park explicitly says admission is charged per person and that it has no carload rate. A full vehicle therefore does not automatically cost one admission. Other venues may advertise a vehicle rate, a per-person rate, or both. Confirm which applies to adults, children, seniors, infants and drivers.
Ask whether a child occupying a seat needs a ticket, whether an infant is free, and whether the driver is counted as a visitor. If the park uses a vehicle price, establish the passenger limit and the charge for an extra person. Compare the final group total, not the first number shown in a booking tile.
Use dated examples only as examples
Alabama Safari Park’s 2026 ticket page lists these admissions:

These figures are not a market average and should not be used to estimate another park’s price. Ask whether taxes, booking fees, parking, feed cups, tours or same-day upgrades are added at checkout. Check the currency and whether an overseas card or booking platform adds a conversion or service fee.
Check date selection and validity
Determine whether you must choose a visit date, whether the ticket is valid only on that date, and whether entry is timed. A date-specific ticket can be unsuitable if weather, illness or a vehicle problem makes travel uncertain. If the ticket is open-dated, ask about its expiration and blackout dates.

Confirm whether one purchase allows one drive-through or re-entry, and whether unused tickets can be transferred to another person. Keep the age proof or identification needed for discounted categories. Screenshot the checkout summary so you can compare it with the confirmation later.
Read refund, rescheduling and seller rules
Find the cancellation deadline, refund method, rescheduling fee and treatment of a missed date. Dubai Safari Park’s terms state that refunds for third-party purchases follow the third party’s policy. The park’s own policy may not control a ticket bought through an external seller, so identify who will handle a cancellation before you pay. Keep the seller name, order number and policy version with your booking records.
Ask specifically whether a closure caused by weather, maintenance or animal-welfare concerns triggers a refund, credit or a new date. An operator may change an experience without cancelling the entire park visit, so determine whether an unavailable add-on is handled separately.
3. Verify the date, opening hours and final entry
Opening time and closing time are not the same as the usable arrival window. A safari route can take substantially longer than a quick attraction visit, and the final vehicle may be admitted well before the gates close.
Find the last drive-through admission
Wild Animal Safari Georgia’s official FAQ says the final drive-through car is admitted one hour before closing. If a park closes at 5 p.m., that rule would make 4 p.m. the latest drive-through entry, subject to the park’s current schedule. Confirm the cutoff for your date rather than relying on a map listing that shows only the closing time.
Check seasonal hours and closure dates
Alabama Safari Park lists daily operation with seasonal hours and closures on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Those dates are an example of a venue-specific calendar, not a general holiday rule. Fuji Safari Park warns that opening hours may change without notice. Check the official calendar after booking and again before leaving, especially during holidays, severe weather or maintenance periods.

Do not assume that a holiday opening applies to every part of the property. The drive-through, walk-about, restaurant and ticket office may have different schedules. If you are arriving late from another attraction, ask when vehicles must be in the queue, not merely when the gate opens.
Budget time for the whole visit
Allow time for ticket scanning, vehicle screening, the route itself and any included walk-through section. Wild Animal Safari Georgia specifically recommends allowing time for both its drive-through and walk-about areas. If you arrive near final entry, you may have to choose between the route and another included area. Ask whether re-entry is permitted if you exit the route to use a restroom or visit the village.
Ask about operational changes
Dubai Safari Park’s terms allow experiences to be modified or cancelled for operational or animal-welfare reasons. Find out what happens if an encounter, route or tour is unavailable: substitution, credit, rescheduling or no separate refund. Keep the park’s emergency or visitor-services contact number accessible on the day.

4. Make sure your vehicle and passengers meet the rules
Vehicle eligibility is a purchase condition, not a detail to solve at the gate. A ticket does not guarantee admission if the car type, passenger arrangement or equipment violates the park’s rules.

Ask the park to classify your exact vehicle, including model, roof design and any trailer. Rules can exclude:
- Motorcycles and other two-wheeled vehicles.
- Convertibles, open-top jeeps and vehicles without doors.
- Pickup trucks when passengers would ride in the bed.
- Vehicles towing trailers or other tow-behind equipment.
- Large or modified vehicles that do not fit the route or screening area.
Alabama Safari Park prohibits motorcycles, convertibles, open-top jeeps, vehicles without doors and tow-behind trailers. Virginia Safari Park also prohibits pickup-bed riding, several open vehicle types and trailers, and says it does not rent vehicles. Those policies show why a general assumption that “any car is fine” is risky.
Send the operator your make, model, number of doors, roof configuration and trailer status if the online wording is ambiguous. Ask whether a rented minivan, high-roof van or vehicle with a roof rack is accepted. Get approval before purchasing nonrefundable admission.
Understand closed-window requirements
Six Flags Wild Safari describes a different operating model requiring windows closed, vehicle screening and limits on vehicle classes. If your selected park requires closed windows, verify whether air-conditioning use is permitted, whether pets must remain at home and whether a soft-top roof counts as open. Never rely on a rule from another venue.
Ask about vehicle alternatives
If your car is excluded, ask whether the park offers a permitted rental, shuttle, wagon or guided vehicle. Virginia Safari Park offers weekend wagon rides but does not rent vehicles. Fuji Safari Park lists separately priced bus and navigation-car experiences. Confirm operating days, capacity, reservations and price for the alternative before buying a basic admission that you cannot use.
5. Read animal, passenger and feeding rules
Drive-through routes are controlled environments. The rules protect visitors, staff and animals, and they can affect what you bring into the car.
Keep passengers in the vehicle when required
Alabama Safari Park requires visitors to remain in their vehicles in the drive-through. Follow the selected park’s instruction on doors, windows, sunroofs and seat belts. If a child needs a break, use an authorized stopping area or exit only where staff direct you. Do not open a door for a photograph or attempt to approach an animal.
Determine whether feeding is allowed
Some parks permit only feed purchased or supplied by the park; others prohibit feeding entirely. Alabama Safari Park restricts feeding to specified park feed. Six Flags Wild Safari describes a no-feeding, no-touching experience. Outside food, household produce and treats may therefore be prohibited even if an animal appears interested.

If feeding is permitted, ask where it can occur, whether it is included, how much is allowed and how to handle it from a minivan or other vehicle. Alabama Safari Park’s FAQ says its animal feed contains no peanuts but is manufactured in an agricultural facility that may process peanuts or peanut shells. Visitors with allergies should confirm the current labeling and handling directly with the park rather than relying on a general “peanut-free” description.
Follow driving and ranger instructions
Fuji Safari Park’s safety guidance includes staying on paved roads, not using a phone while driving and following ranger instructions. Similar rules may govern stopping, passing, reversing and photography at another park. Designate a passenger to handle navigation and photos so the driver can concentrate on the route.
Ask whether animals may approach the vehicle and whether staff can require you to move on. Clarify what to do for a stalled vehicle, a frightened passenger or an animal blocking the road. These instructions are part of the admission conditions, not optional sightseeing advice.
6. Check accessibility and practical alternatives before purchase
Accessibility information often covers only a portion of the visit. A wheelchair-accessible walk-through area does not automatically mean the drive-through route, vehicle transfer or alternative ride is accessible.

Confirm accessibility for:
- Parking, ticket scanning and security or vehicle screening.
- Boarding a shuttle, wagon, bus or navigation car.
- Restrooms, restaurants and the walk-through route.
- Vehicle entry and transfer space if a passenger uses a wheelchair.
- Service-animal rules and any restrictions in animal areas.
Wild Animal Safari Georgia identifies its walk-about, ticket building, restaurant, gift shop and restrooms as wheelchair accessible. That statement does not establish that every route, vehicle or attraction at that park is accessible. Ask which parts are accessible on your intended date and what assistance must be reserved.
Request an alternative in advance
If you cannot use the drive-through, ask whether a bus, wagon or guided vehicle is available and whether it follows the same animal route. Fuji Safari Park’s separately priced bus and navigation-car options and Virginia Safari Park’s weekend wagon rides illustrate possible alternatives, but availability is venue-specific. Obtain confirmation before paying and ask what happens if the alternative sells out.

Record the answers for the exact park, date and ticket seller. This makes differences visible when you compare tickets and gives you evidence if a term is disputed.
- Inclusions: Write down every area and activity covered, plus each add-on price and reservation requirement.
- Price basis: Calculate the total by adult, child, senior, infant and driver; note taxes, fees, parking and feed charges.
- Validity: Record the selected date, entry window, expiration, blackout dates and re-entry rule.
- Refunds: Save the cancellation deadline, rescheduling conditions and the name of the party responsible for refunds.
- Hours: Note opening time, final drive-through entry and any seasonal or holiday closure.
- Vehicle: Provide the make, model, roof type, doors, trailer status and passenger arrangement when asking for approval.
- Safety: Save window, door, feeding, touching, stopping, phone-use and passenger rules.
- Access: Confirm accessible parking, restrooms, boarding, transfer assistance and alternatives.
- Contingencies: Ask what happens if weather, maintenance, animal welfare or capacity changes the experience.
8. Recheck everything before departure
Ticket conditions and operating plans are volatile. Reopen the official ticket and visitor-information pages shortly before the visit, even if you purchased weeks earlier.

- Confirm the park is open on your date and that seasonal hours have not changed.
- Check the final drive-through entry time, not only the advertised closing time.
- Verify that your vehicle class and any alternative ride are still accepted.
- Review closures, route changes, weather notices and animal-welfare cancellations.
- Carry the confirmation, seller contact details and any accessibility approval.
- Arrive early enough for screening and the full route; a late arrival may be refused even with a valid ticket.
Check the seller’s account as well as the park’s page if you bought through a third party. Save any revised notice and call if the two sources conflict. Do not assume that an unchanged confirmation means unchanged hours or route access.

9. Questions to ask before clicking “Buy”
Use these short questions when an official page leaves a material detail unanswered:
- “Do you have a carload rate, or is every passenger charged?”
- “What types of vehicles are allowed, and is my exact model acceptable?”
- “Can we walk through the park with this ticket?”
- “How do we feed the animals if driving a minivan, and may we bring outside food?”
- “Is the park wheelchair accessible from parking through the route or alternative ride?”
- “What is the final drive-through entry time on our date?”
- “Who processes a refund if I bought from a third-party seller?”
- “What happens if an animal-welfare or operational decision cancels an encounter?”
Request a written reply when the answer affects whether your group can enter. Keep the response with the ticket, because a verbal assurance at a call center may be difficult to prove at the gate.
The most reliable purchase is not necessarily the cheapest headline price. It is the ticket whose inclusions, total cost, timing, vehicle eligibility and fallback plan match your group and your car. Confirm those points with the chosen park, save the terms, and check them again before setting out.

Ask the operator to approve the exact vehicle before purchase. Alabama and Virginia Safari Park examples exclude several open vehicle types, pickup-bed riding and trailers, and some parks offer no vehicle rentals.
