What the four dividend dates mean
Declaration date
The declaration date is when AGNC announces a dividend and specifies its amount and timetable. For the October 2026 dividend, that announcement date is October 7. When do you have to buy AGNC to receive the dividend?

Investors should avoid turning the monthly figure into an annualized yield without a dated share price. A simple multiplication of $0.12 by 12 would describe a hypothetical run rate only if twelve future payments at that amount were declared. It would not be a current yield, and it would not account for changes in AGNC’s share price. A yield calculation must identify the share price and the date used, as well as whether the figure is a historical total or an assumption about future payments.

How to check the next AGNC dividend announcement
Dividend dates are announcement-specific and can become stale quickly. Use a repeatable check whenever you are planning a purchase or monitoring an existing holding:
- Open AGNC’s official common-stock dividend history. Confirm that the entry is for common stock and that it is the newest declaration.

Confusing declaration and payment
A declaration tells you what AGNC announced; a payment date tells you when that announced distribution is scheduled to be paid. They are different fields and can be weeks apart.
Using the record date as the buying deadline
AGNC’s FAQ names the ex-dividend date as the relevant purchase cutoff. Even when the record and ex-dividend dates are identical on the company’s table, use the field AGNC identifies for purchase eligibility.

Calculating yield from the dividend alone
A dollar amount per share is not a percentage yield. A valid yield statement needs a dated share price and a clearly labeled calculation period.
Applying common-stock dates to preferred stock
