CrowdStrike sells cloud-delivered cybersecurity through its Falcon platform. A lightweight sensor collects security telemetry from devices and other environments, while cloud software uses that data for prevention, detection, investigation, and response. Customers mainly pay recurring subscriptions priced by endpoint and module; managed detection, incident response, threat hunting, and other professional services provide additional revenue.
That makes CrowdStrike more than a traditional antivirus vendor, although endpoint protection remains the center of its product. The important distinctions are what Falcon includes, how subscriptions expand inside an organization, and which prices are public versus quote-based.

Falcon is a cloud cybersecurity platform
CrowdStrike’s main product is Falcon, a cloud-native platform built around a lightweight software sensor and a shared data foundation. The company says Falcon covers endpoint and cloud workload security, managed security services, vulnerability and security management, identity protection, SIEM and log management, threat intelligence, data protection, SaaS security posture management, security orchestration and automation, and security for AI systems. How the sensor and cloud work together
The sensor runs on protected endpoints and gathers security telemetry. Falcon’s cloud services analyze that information and make it available to the modules an organization has licensed. CrowdStrike describes the sensor as collecting “high-fidelity telemetry across domains,” which the company says supports AI-driven protection and investigation. Centralizing telemetry lets security teams investigate activity across devices and other covered environments instead of treating every alert as an isolated antivirus event. The same data foundation can support prevention, detection, threat hunting, response workflows, vulnerability work, identity controls, and log analysis when the corresponding modules are deployed.
Is CrowdStrike just antivirus?
No. Endpoint protection is still a core function, but Falcon combines next-generation antivirus with endpoint detection and response, cloud and identity controls, intelligence, managed services, and security operations tools. A customer can buy a narrower endpoint package or combine multiple modules into a broader security program.

Broader modules and flexible bundles
Larger organizations can add modules for cloud workloads, identity, data, security information and event management, vulnerability management, threat intelligence, and other use cases. FalconFlex is presented as a way to access the broader portfolio, swap modules annually, and pay for what the customer deploys. In practice, the useful comparison is not a brand-level ranking but whether the selected modules match the organization’s assets, staffing, compliance needs, and response process.
Managed and specialist services
CrowdStrike also sells managed detection and response (MDR), proactive threat hunting, incident response, and other professional services. MDR can provide ongoing monitoring and analyst support; threat hunting looks proactively for adversary activity; incident-response work is used when an organization needs specialist help investigating or containing an event. These services are separate from the software subscription economics and can increase the total contract value.
How CrowdStrike makes money
Recurring subscriptions are the main engine
CrowdStrike’s annual filing says subscriptions are generally priced per endpoint and per module. Subscription revenue is recognized ratably over the subscription term, meaning the accounting revenue is recorded over the period of service rather than all at once when a contract is signed. The land-and-expand model
The typical expansion path is to begin with a deployment and a selected set of modules, then add endpoints or capabilities as adoption grows. This model gives CrowdStrike a way to grow revenue inside existing accounts while giving customers a staged implementation path. FalconFlex is designed to make that expansion more flexible by allowing annual module changes and billing around deployed capacity. The filing says incident response and proactive professional services are generally priced on a time-and-materials basis. Those charges vary with the people involved, hours worked, urgency, and scope rather than following a simple per-device subscription. CrowdStrike also describes professional services as a way to cross-sell Falcon subscriptions and modules, so a services engagement can lead to additional recurring software revenue. The U.S. pricing page observed on October 13, 2026 lists the following prices. They are published list prices, not a guarantee of a negotiated enterprise quote. The annual figures are per-device annual prices as labeled by the page; they should not be treated as a promise that every customer receives identical contract terms. For example, 50 devices at the listed Falcon Go annual price would total $2,999.50 before taxes, extra add-ons, services, or negotiated changes. What the reported financial figures mean
CrowdStrike reported $1.06 billion in total revenue and $1.01 billion in subscription revenue for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2025. It also reported $4.24 billion in annual recurring revenue as of January 31, 2025. The difference between quarterly revenue and ARR is important. Revenue is the accounting amount recognized during a quarter. ARR is a run-rate measure of recurring subscription business at a particular date. ARR does not include every future dollar with certainty, and it does not represent cash collected in one payment.

- Count what needs protection. Inventory employee devices, servers, cloud workloads, mobile devices, identities, and other assets that may require separate coverage. The endpoint count is the starting point for a per-device quote, but it is not the whole scope.
- Map required outcomes to modules. Decide whether the need is basic malware prevention, endpoint detection and response, managed monitoring, identity protection, cloud security, log management, threat intelligence, or a combination. Do not compare plans only by their names.
- Choose the operating model. A team with its own analysts may need software and optional response support. A smaller security staff may value MDR or a managed bundle. Falcon Complete is quote-based, so its price must come from sales.
- Compare billing terms. Check monthly versus annual pricing, renewal dates, minimum commitments, endpoint-growth assumptions, and whether modules can be changed. Longer terms can improve planning but reduce flexibility if the environment changes.
- Price the full deployment. Include add-ons, implementation, incident-response retainers, training, and any professional services. The public per-device number is not necessarily the total cost of operating the program.
- Verify technical fit. Confirm supported operating systems, deployment method, network and data requirements, administrative roles, retention settings, and how alerts integrate with the existing security workflow before purchase.
- Recheck the live offer. Public prices, included features, device limits, and terms can change. Use the current U.S. pricing page or a written quote for the exact edition and region.
Risks and limitations to keep in mind

The available published material does not establish a directly comparable independent performance ranking against competitors. Treat claims about superiority as marketing claims unless an independent test measures the same products under comparable conditions.

Budget and concentration risks for customers
Per-endpoint subscriptions can become expensive as a company adds devices, users, workloads, or modules. A plan that fits a small deployment may require a different commercial arrangement after growth, while a long subscription term can leave a customer paying for unused capacity if staffing or infrastructure changes. Those are budgeting questions to resolve in contract discussions, not reasons to assume a particular plan is unsuitable.
Bottom line
CrowdStrike makes money primarily by selling recurring Falcon subscriptions priced around endpoints and modules, then expanding accounts as customers add coverage and capabilities. The platform uses a lightweight sensor and shared cloud data foundation to support endpoint, cloud, identity, intelligence, logging, and response functions.
