It also includes access to selected deals, events and location-dependent grocery or prescription offers. The membership covers only benefits identified as included; a movie rental, premium channel, optional medication program or other purchase can still create a separate charge.
The most reliable way to avoid surprises is to check the eligibility label and checkout total for each item or service. Prime Video titles marked Included with Prime are covered, while titles marked rent, buy, pay-per-view or subscribe are not.

| Plan or program | Price stated by Amazon | Who may qualify and what it means |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Prime | $14.99 per month or $139 per year | Regular U.S. membership with the standard Prime bundle. |
| Prime Access | $6.99 per month | Discounted plan for eligible customers; qualification and terms must be verified with Amazon. |
| Prime for Young Adults | $7.49 per month or $69 per year | Rate stated in current Amazon materials for eligible young adults; age, enrollment and offer conditions apply. |
| RxPass | $5 per month | Optional program for eligible generic medications. It is not part of the standard Prime fee. |
Paying the standard monthly rate for 12 months would total $179.88, which is $40.88 more than the listed annual price. The annual option therefore makes more sense when you expect to keep Prime for a full year; monthly billing can be preferable when you need the service for only a short period or are testing whether you use it.

Discounted plans are not automatically available to every account. Do not assume that a household member, student, or person receiving a qualifying benefit can use a discounted rate until Amazon confirms eligibility during enrollment.
Shopping and delivery benefits that Prime includes
Fast delivery on eligible items
Prime can provide free or faster delivery on items carrying a Prime-eligible designation. Same-Day and Next-Day delivery depend on the specific item, inventory, delivery address, order timing and local service coverage. The Prime logo by itself is not a promise that every product or every ZIP code receives the same speed.
Before placing an order, open the product page and the delivery options for your address. The date shown at checkout is the useful confirmation. Marketplace listings, oversized products, remote addresses and items shipped from a different location may have different eligibility.
Deals and shopping events
Members receive access to Prime deals and events, including Prime Day. A deal is a discount opportunity, not a credit toward other purchases: the product price, quantity limits, shipping terms and return conditions still apply. Compare the final price with other retailers rather than treating event access as a guaranteed saving.

Grocery delivery and savings
Amazon lists grocery-related delivery and savings among Prime benefits, but these are highly location- and order-dependent. In most areas, Amazon states a $25 order threshold for free Same-Day grocery delivery. “Most areas” is not universal: item availability, delivery windows, service fees, minimums and local participation can differ. Check the grocery cart’s fee breakdown instead of assuming that a Prime membership removes every charge.
What Prime Video includes—and what it bills separately
Included with Prime catalog
Prime Video has a rotating selection of movies and shows labeled Included with Prime. Watching those titles is covered while they remain in the included catalog. The catalog changes, so a title that is included today can later move to a rental, purchase or add-on service.
Amazon’s help guidance summarizes the boundary this way: “The key difference is that Included with Prime content is covered by your Prime Video membership, while purchases, rentals, add-on subscriptions, and pay-per-view (where available) offer expanded content for additional payment.” That label-and-charge distinction is more dependable than assuming every title visible in the Prime Video app is free.

Rentals and purchases
A title marked for rent or purchase costs extra, even when it appears beside included programming. A rental is generally a one-time transaction with its own viewing period; a purchase is a separate transaction associated with the account. The exact price and viewing terms appear on the title page before confirmation.
Rank #3
Pay-per-view events
Some live events or special releases may be offered on a pay-per-view basis. If the event page shows a payment amount, that payment is in addition to the Prime membership. Availability is not universal and can vary by event and location.
Prime Video add-on subscriptions
Premium networks and other third-party channels inside Prime Video are optional subscriptions. Each channel sets its own recurring price and catalog. Amazon says many offer a trial where available; a trial is not a permanent inclusion and normally converts to a paid subscription unless canceled under the displayed terms. Review the channel’s renewal date and cancellation instructions when subscribing.
A practical video check is:
- Look for the words Included with Prime on the title page.
- If the buttons say rent, buy, subscribe or pay-per-view, read the displayed one-time or recurring price.
- At confirmation, verify whether the total is $0 for included viewing or shows a charge.
Amazon Music: Prime listening versus Music Unlimited
Amazon Music Prime
Amazon Music Prime is the listening benefit bundled with Prime. Its available catalog, playback features and rules are determined by Amazon’s current service terms and can change. Access to the included tier does not mean every Amazon Music feature or every song is available in every way.

Amazon Music Unlimited
Amazon Music Unlimited is a separate paid subscription with additional functionality and a broader service offering. It is not automatically included because Music Prime appears in the Prime benefits list. Check the current signup screen for the price, promotional period, renewal date and cancellation terms; displayed prices and promotions can age.
Rank #4
Prime Reading, Amazon Photos and Amazon Luna
Prime Reading
Prime Reading provides a changing selection of popular eBooks and other reading material without a separate per-title purchase while the titles are in the Prime Reading collection. It is not the same as owning every Kindle book or receiving unlimited access to the entire Kindle store. A title’s availability can change, and books outside the Prime Reading selection may require a purchase.
Amazon Photos
Amazon’s Prime benefits materials list photo storage as an included service. The included capacity, supported features and account rules are governed by the current Photos terms. Keep independent backups of irreplaceable files; membership access is not a substitute for a second copy stored elsewhere.
Amazon Luna
Prime members receive access to an evolving selection of games through Amazon Luna. The available library and supported devices can change, and a game not in the current Prime selection may require a separate purchase or channel subscription. Check the Luna app for the current included list before treating a particular game as a permanent benefit.
Prescription, restaurant and other partner offers
RxPass is optional
RxPass is listed at $5 per month for eligible generic medications. That fee is separate from Prime, and not every medication, prescription, pharmacy arrangement or customer qualifies. Medication eligibility and program terms should be checked before enrollment; the program does not make all prescriptions free.

- Helpful in various ways
Grubhub+ has conditions
Amazon offers Grubhub+ to active U.S. Prime members who link the relevant accounts. The offer applies only to participating merchants and qualifying orders. Minimum subtotals, taxes, service charges, delivery-area limits and other fees may still apply, so a $0 delivery-fee line does not mean the meal itself is free or that the checkout total is zero. If Prime ends or the accounts are unlinked, the offer’s eligibility can change.
Family sharing is benefit-specific
Amazon Family can let household members share selected Prime benefits, but sharing is not a blanket transfer of every service. Amazon describes benefit-specific conditions, account relationships and restrictions. Confirm which household member receives which benefit rather than assuming that a shared membership also shares every digital catalog, offer or payment privilege.

How to decide whether Prime is worth paying for
Start with benefits you will actually use
List the deliveries, video titles, music listening, reading, photo storage or game access you expect to use during the membership period. Do not assign value to a benefit you would not otherwise buy or use. A person joining for one rental or one premium channel should compare that separate price with the membership rather than assuming the entire video catalog is included.

Use the annual total only when you expect to remain a member for the year. If your need is seasonal—such as a short period of frequent deliveries—calculate the monthly cost for the months you will actually keep the account. Include optional services such as Music Unlimited, add-on channels or RxPass only if you intend to pay for them; they are not savings created by Prime itself.
Value delivery by real eligibility
Count only deliveries to your address that display a Prime-eligible speed and that you would otherwise pay to ship. A theoretical Same-Day option in another city has no value for your household. The same test applies to grocery delivery, prescription programs and partner offers.
Checklist to prevent unexpected charges
- On video, confirm the exact label: Included with Prime, rent, buy, pay-per-view or subscribe.
- For add-on channels and trials, record the renewal date and cancel if you do not want recurring billing.
- On music, distinguish Amazon Music Prime from Music Unlimited before accepting an upgrade.
- For grocery orders, review the minimum, delivery window and every fee in the cart.
- For RxPass, verify that your medication is eligible and that the separate monthly fee is worthwhile.
- For Grubhub+, link accounts only after reading participating-merchant, minimum-order and fee conditions.
- At checkout, review the final total rather than relying on a Prime badge or a “free delivery” headline.
- Recheck the current terms when renewing: catalogs, prices, eligibility and partner offers can change.
The bottom line on Prime’s inclusions
Prime is best understood as a bundle, not an all-you-can-use pass. The membership can cover eligible delivery, selected digital catalogs and access to deals, while rentals, purchases, premium channels, Music Unlimited, RxPass and many partner-order costs remain separate. Read the item-level label, confirm your location and compare the billed total with the benefits you will genuinely use.
