Several Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) deposits arrive earlier than their nominal dates in October, November and December 2026. The changes are calendar adjustments, not bonus payments or permanent schedule changes: weekends and federal legal holidays move a payment to the preceding business day. The key dates are October 2, October 30, November 10 and December 31.
Why are Social Security and SSI payments arriving early?
Under Social Security Administration (SSA) rules, a payment scheduled for a Saturday, Sunday or legal public holiday is paid on the business day before it. SSI is normally due on the first day of each month, while Social Security uses several schedules based on payment history and the beneficiary’s birth date.

Which Social Security payment schedule applies to me?
Your date depends on the type of benefit, when you began receiving Social Security and the birth date on the earnings record.

- Third-of-the-month schedule: People who received Social Security before May 1997, and many people who receive both Social Security and SSI, use the third-of-the-month Social Security pattern shown in SSA’s calendar legend.
- Second Wednesday: Birthdays from the 1st through the 10th generally receive payment on the second Wednesday.
- Third Wednesday: Birthdays from the 11th through the 20th generally receive payment on the third Wednesday.
- Fourth Wednesday: Birthdays from the 21st through the 31st generally receive payment on the fourth Wednesday.
- SSI: SSI is normally paid on the first day of the month, subject to the weekend-and-holiday adjustment.
SSA generally cannot change an assigned payment date. The category that applies to you, your benefit history, SSI status and the birth-date band determine the date.
What are the early-payment dates in October 2026?
| Date | Payment | Why it is early |
|---|---|---|
| Friday, October 2 | Third-of-the-month Social Security payment | October 3 is a Saturday, so the payment moves back one business day. |
| Friday, October 30 | November SSI payment | November 1 is a Sunday, so November’s SSI arrives on the preceding business day. |
The October 30 deposit belongs to November SSI even though it appears in October. It does not create an additional monthly benefit or change the amount payable.

Will Social Security come early for Veterans Day in November 2026?
Yes, the second-Wednesday Social Security payment moves to Tuesday, November 10, because Wednesday, November 11 is Veterans Day, a federal legal holiday. Other November payments remain on their normal dates.
| Date | Payment | Schedule explanation |
|---|---|---|
| Tuesday, November 3 | Third-of-the-month Social Security | Ordinary third-of-the-month date. |
| Tuesday, November 10 | Second-Wednesday Social Security | Advanced one day for the November 11 federal holiday. |
| Wednesday, November 18 | Third-Wednesday Social Security | Ordinary third-Wednesday date. |
| Wednesday, November 25 | Fourth-Wednesday Social Security | Ordinary fourth-Wednesday date. |
What Social Security and SSI dates should I expect in December 2026?

| Date | Payment | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| Tuesday, December 1 | December SSI | Regular first-of-month SSI payment. |
| Wednesday, December 9 | Second-Wednesday Social Security | Birthdays on the 1st–10th. |
| Wednesday, December 16 | Third-Wednesday Social Security | Birthdays on the 11th–20th. |
| Wednesday, December 23 | Fourth-Wednesday Social Security | Birthdays on the 21st–31st. |
| Thursday, December 31 | January 2027 SSI and third-of-the-month Social Security | January 1 is a federal holiday and January 3 is a Sunday, so both scheduled payments advance to December 31. |
Is the December 31 deposit an extra check?
No. The December 31 deposit is an advance payment for January 2027 SSI and for the third-of-the-month Social Security payment. Treat it as the next month’s benefit when planning January expenses; the earlier appearance does not mean a second December benefit or a higher payment.
What should I do if a payment is not in my account?
First identify which schedule applies to you and whether the date was shifted by a weekend or holiday. Check your personal payment information through the my Social Security payment-schedule service or SSA’s automated telephone assistance, because the published calendar cannot account for every beneficiary’s payment history.

If the expected deposit does not appear, SSA’s 2026 payment calendar advises allowing three additional mailing days before contacting Social Security. Bank posting practices can also affect the time a deposit becomes visible, so check the account’s transaction history as well as its available balance.
How can I avoid confusion when an early payment crosses months?
- Write down the date the money arrived and the benefit month it represents.
- Mark October 30 as November SSI, not an extra October payment.
- Mark December 31 as January 2027 SSI and/or the January third-of-the-month Social Security payment, depending on your benefit category.
- Use the schedule tied to your own benefit history and birth-date band rather than another household member’s date.
- Keep the official calendar or your my Social Security schedule available when reconciling deposits.

Where can I find my exact personal Social Security payment date?
Sign in to the my Social Security payment-schedule service for a beneficiary-specific date. SSA’s automated phone assistance is another way to retrieve schedule information.
Why can two different benefit months appear in the same calendar month?
The calendar rule can move a first-of-month SSI payment or a third-of-the-month Social Security payment into the preceding month. The payment month remains the month assigned by SSA even when the deposit posts earlier.
