What Udaan seller registration involves
Udaan is a business-to-business marketplace where sellers can present products to retailers and other business buyers. Seller registration is not simply a profile-creation exercise. It creates a business account that may be checked against tax, identity, address and category-compliance information. Udaan’s seller page describes the process as: “Start to sell on Udaan in a matter of a few clicks.” The practical work is preparing accurate information, completing any additional verification requests and configuring your catalogue and trading rules after approval.

The vendor portal includes a sign-up option for people who do not already have an account. Use the current prompts shown in that portal rather than relying on an old screenshot or a form copied from another website, because field names and onboarding requirements can change.
Before you open the sign-up form
Decide what business will be registered
Use the legal or trading identity that will actually invoice, supply and receive payment for the goods. Keep the spelling of the business name consistent with your tax and banking records. If several people operate the business, agree in advance who will control the account and respond to verification requests.

Check that your products can legally be sold
Udaan’s terms place responsibility on the user to obtain every licence, registration and permission needed to resell, trade, distribute or export the products. Requirements can depend on the product and the state or territory in which you operate. Food, medicines and other regulated categories can have additional sector rules. A marketplace account does not replace those approvals.
Assemble the information Udaan may request
Udaan’s Terms of Use say registration may require the following details, along with any additional information the platform requests:

The terms describe these items as information that may be required, not a promise that every seller will see exactly the same checklist. Have clear scans or photographs available and submit details that can be supported by your records.
Step-by-step: registering as a Udaan seller
- Open the official vendor route. Go to Udaan’s seller or vendor portal and choose the sign-up option for a user without an account. Start from the current official entry point so that you are using the live onboarding flow.
- Enter your contact details. Provide a phone number and other contact information that the responsible account administrator can access. Complete any one-time-password or contact confirmation step displayed by the portal.
- Enter the business identity. Add the business name, operating address and geographical location exactly as they appear in the records you intend to use for verification. Inconsistent spellings or incomplete addresses can create avoidable follow-up questions.
- Provide tax and registration identifiers. Enter the GSTIN, PAN, TAN, Udyog Aadhaar or other identifiers requested for your business. Do not substitute a personal number for a business identifier unless the form and your legal structure clearly make that appropriate.
- Upload or submit premises information. If the portal asks for an image of the place of business or other evidence, use a current, legible image that matches the address you entered. Follow the portal’s file-format and size instructions.
- Declare category compliance. Confirm that you have the licences and permissions needed for the goods you intend to list. If your category is regulated, gather the relevant approvals before publishing offers rather than assuming marketplace registration covers them.
- Review every field. Check tax numbers digit by digit, confirm that contact details work and remove accidental spaces or typographical errors. Submit only information that is truthful and current.
- Submit the application and monitor messages. Save any reference number or confirmation shown by the portal. Watch the registered phone number, email address and seller dashboard for requests for more information.
How Udaan verification and approval work
Udaan’s Terms of Use state: “udaan reserves the right to verify, approve, suspend, or reject any account at its discretion, including requesting additional information / documents for verification.” That wording has three practical consequences.

Approval is not automatic
Submitting the form does not guarantee acceptance. Udaan can check the information, ask for supporting documents, approve the account, suspend access or reject the application. Keep your business records available until the account is fully active.
There is no universal approval-time promise
The official pages reviewed for this process do not publish a single approval deadline that applies to every category, location or business. Do not plan inventory purchases or retailer delivery commitments around an assumed number of hours or days. If your application is time-sensitive, ask Udaan support for the current expectation attached to your account.
Respond carefully to follow-up requests
Use the same legal name, tax numbers and address in every response. If information has changed since submission, explain the change rather than quietly uploading conflicting records. Keep a copy of what you sent and the date of each response so that you can trace the application if a review is delayed.

Approval gives you access to selling tools, but it does not by itself create a profitable or compliant operation. Udaan describes several capabilities for approved sellers; the exact features and availability can vary by account and current policy.

Create accurate product catalogues
Sellers can create catalogues for branded products or their own products. Build each listing around information a retailer needs to make a buying decision: the product identity, pack or unit configuration, available quantity, applicable taxes, dispatch expectations and any category-specific compliance information. Use consistent naming and units so retailers can compare your offers with their shelves and purchasing records.
Only list goods that you can supply. If stock is seasonal or limited, use the inventory controls available in your account and update quantities promptly. A catalogue that remains live after stock is exhausted can lead to cancellations, disputes and damaged retailer relationships.
Configure trade constructs
Udaan says sellers can configure trade constructs such as basket-size minimum order quantities, assortment and payment terms. These settings determine how a retailer can buy from you:

- Basket-size minimum order quantity: set the smallest order that is commercially workable for your packing and fulfilment costs.
- Assortment: define which products or combinations can be purchased together, especially where a mixed carton or range is required.
- Payment terms: choose from the terms made available to your account and assess the effect on your cash conversion cycle before accepting orders.
Do not assume that a minimum order value, credit period or other trade term is the same for every seller. Confirm the settings and any charges or conditions shown in your account.

Plan logistics and shipment visibility
Udaan describes partner logistics and shipment visibility as seller tools. Before accepting a retailer order, confirm the pickup coverage, dispatch cut-off, packaging requirements and serviceable destination shown for that order. Use the tracking or shipment-status features available in the seller account to identify exceptions early. Marketplace logistics can simplify coordination, but you remain responsible for accurate packing, lawful products and handing over the correct quantity.
Understand settlement mechanics
Udaan describes payment settlement through nodal accounts and faster settlement cycles where available. “Faster” is not a universal promise: eligibility, timing, deductions and the applicable cycle can depend on the account and current policy. Read the settlement statement for each order, reconcile it with your invoice and delivery record, and keep enough working capital to cover the gap between purchasing stock and receiving funds.

Retail sales through a marketplace can require cash before it produces cash. Map the full cycle for a typical order:
- Purchase or manufacture the inventory.
- Package it to the marketplace and product-category requirements.
- Pay any operating, transport or preparation costs that apply to your arrangement.
- Dispatch and wait for delivery confirmation or the event that triggers settlement.
- Reconcile the settlement, returns, adjustments and taxes against your books.
The reviewed Udaan pages do not publish a universal commission schedule, minimum order value, guaranteed retailer volume or standard settlement period for every seller. Obtain the commercial terms for your category and location before committing substantial inventory. A simple order-level worksheet should show expected selling value, product cost, packaging, tax, logistics, marketplace deductions if any, returns exposure and the number of days your cash is tied up.

Udyam registration is separate from Udaan registration
Udyam is the Government of India’s MSME registration system, not Udaan’s seller account. The Udyam portal describes MSME registration as “free, paperless and based on self-declaration.” It also says that no documents or proof need to be uploaded and that PAN and GST-linked details are taken from government databases where applicable.
Udyam can support formalisation and may be useful for an eligible micro, small or medium enterprise, but completing it does not create a Udaan account or guarantee marketplace approval. Treat the two processes as separate checklists: complete Udyam through the government portal if it suits your business, and complete Udaan’s own vendor onboarding for marketplace access.
Common registration problems and practical fixes

Compliance responsibilities do not end at approval
Keep tax filings, invoices, licences and inventory records current after your account is live. Udaan’s terms make the seller responsible for permissions required to resell, trade, distribute or export products and for compliance with applicable law. If your business changes its address, ownership, tax status or product category, update the relevant records and check whether Udaan requires a fresh verification.

How to judge whether Udaan fits your retail channel
Registration is only the first decision. Before shifting a meaningful share of sales to any B2B marketplace, evaluate the following points for your own geography and category:

These questions are more useful than relying on a headline claim about retailer numbers or sales potential. The official Udaan material does not guarantee a volume of retailer orders, so forecast demand conservatively and test the channel with inventory you can afford to finance.
A seller-ready checklist
- Choose the business identity and account administrator.
- Confirm that each product category is legal and properly licensed.
- Collect the business name, GSTIN, PAN, TAN, Udyog Aadhaar, address, phone number, location and premises image that may be requested.
- Open the current official Udaan vendor sign-up route and complete the prompts.
- Review every identifier and upload before submitting.
- Monitor the registered contact channels for verification questions.
- Do not assume approval timing, fees, commissions, minimum orders or retailer volume without account-specific confirmation.
- After approval, build truthful catalogues, set workable order rules and confirm logistics and settlement terms.
- Reconcile every order and maintain tax, licence and inventory records.
Bottom line for prospective sellers
Udaan seller registration is a business-verification process: start in the official vendor portal, submit accurate business and tax information, satisfy any category licences and answer follow-up checks. Once approved, use the catalogue, trade-construct, logistics and settlement tools cautiously, with a cash-flow plan that reflects your actual account terms. Udyam registration may formalise an eligible MSME, but it is a separate government process and does not substitute for Udaan onboarding.
