Usually, no—not with a continuously updated, guaranteed GPS view. UPS has documented a feature called Follow My Delivery, but UPS’s current Follow My Delivery page says the live map is no longer available and sends customers back to standard tracking. If the map is offered for an eligible shipment in the future, it is still only an approximate view of the truck’s location, not a promise that your package is next.
How to track a UPS package now
You can check the shipment’s current status without paying for a UPS membership:
- Go to UPS.com.
- Select Tracking Support.
- Select Track a Package.
- Enter the tracking number.
- Review the latest scan, delivery estimate, and shipment details.
On the tracking page, select Get Updates if you want UPS shipment-status alerts. Standard tracking is UPS’s stated source for the most current shipment status, but it does not provide a guaranteed, continuously updated location for the delivery vehicle.
What happened to UPS Follow My Delivery?
UPS still documents Follow My Delivery in some support and app materials, including a description of a live map for eligible users. Its current live-map endpoint, however, displays a notice that the Follow My Delivery live map is no longer available and directs customers to regular UPS Tracking.

That means older articles and social-media posts claiming that anyone can watch a UPS truck move around the neighborhood are misleading. The feature was never universal, and the current UPS page does not offer a dependable truck-location service.
When the map was supposed to appear
UPS’s support documentation describes several requirements for Follow My Delivery. A shipment generally had to meet all of these conditions:

| Shipment eligibility | Not every package or route necessarily qualified. |
UPS says a free UPS My Choice membership can provide estimated and confirmed delivery windows, delivery alerts, and—when available—live-map following. You do not need My Choice merely to enter a tracking number and see ordinary shipment updates.
Why you may not see a UPS truck map
A missing map does not necessarily mean anything is wrong with the package. Common explanations include:

- The one-hour eligibility period has not started.
- UPS has not supplied a delivery window.
- You are not signed in or have not completed the required My Choice authentication.
- The shipment or route is not eligible.
- The live-map service is unavailable or has been withdrawn for that shipment.
Repeatedly refreshing the page will not restore a map that UPS has disabled. Use the tracking page and its alerts instead.

Does “Out for Delivery” mean the truck is nearby?
No. Out for Delivery means the package has entered the delivery stage. It does not mean the vehicle is on your street, that your stop is next, or that delivery will happen within the next few minutes.
The driver may have many business and residential stops, route changes, traffic delays, pickups, and other work. UPS says deliveries generally may occur as late as 9 p.m., with later deliveries sometimes occurring during the holiday season. If the driver cannot complete the delivery, UPS generally tries again on the next business day.
How accurate would the truck location be?
Even when Follow My Delivery is available, UPS describes the vehicle location as approximate. A marker near your address is not an exact GPS position and is not a delivery-time guarantee. The marker may not reflect the driver’s precise route, most recent position, or the order of remaining stops.

Can UPS My Choice change the delivery?
My Choice is more useful for managing a delivery than for locating the truck. To attempt a change through the dashboard:

- Open the UPS My Choice dashboard.
- Select the package.
- Select Delivery Options.
- Follow the available prompts.
If Delivery Options does not appear, UPS says the shipper may have restricted changes, sometimes because of the package’s contents or shipping terms.
Without My Choice, you can try a one-time change by opening the package’s tracking details, selecting Change My Delivery, and retrieving the temporary passcode UPS sends by email. A change is not guaranteed, and some shipments cannot be redirected or rescheduled.

What to do if a package is late
- Check the latest scan rather than the truck’s supposed location. Look for an exception, a revised delivery date, or a notice that the package was returned to a facility.
- Check the delivery estimate and the time of day. “Out for Delivery” can remain active for many hours.
- Review delivery instructions and options. If UPS offers a change, the tracking page or My Choice dashboard will show it.
- Look for a delivery attempt notice. A missed signature requirement or access problem can change the next step.
- Contact UPS or the seller when the tracking record stops progressing. The seller may need to start a claim or investigate the shipment, especially for a valuable purchase.
Be cautious with unsolicited texts or emails asking for a small “redelivery fee” or payment to release a package. Instead of clicking the message’s link, type ups.com into your browser and enter the tracking number there. A delivery delay is not a reason to provide card details to an unverified sender.
Bottom line on seeing the UPS truck
As of August 9, 2026, you should not assume that UPS provides a working live truck map. UPS’s current Follow My Delivery page says the live map is no longer available, while standard tracking remains the reliable official option for shipment status. Track the package on UPS.com, turn on Get Updates, and treat any map or delivery estimate as approximate—not as a promise that the truck is nearby or that delivery will occur at a precise time.

Do I need UPS My Choice to track a package?
No. You can track a package on UPS.com with its tracking number without joining My Choice. My Choice is associated with features such as delivery windows, alerts, and—when available—live-map following.
How late can UPS deliver an Out for Delivery package?
UPS says drivers generally may deliver as late as 9 p.m., and sometimes later during the holiday season. Out for Delivery does not mean the truck is currently close to your address.
Why does my UPS tracking page have no map?
The shipment may not be eligible, may not yet be Out for Delivery, may lack an estimated delivery window, or may not meet the My Choice authentication requirements. UPS’s current map service may also be unavailable or withdrawn.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: UPS tracking can show the package’s latest status and delivery estimate, but it does not reliably show the truck’s exact location. The Follow My Delivery map is currently reported by UPS as unavailable, and even an available map would be approximate.
