The Best Black Friday Mac Deals That Were Available—and What to Buy Now

Short answer: The Black Friday Mac prices from 2025 should not be treated as live deals in 2026. They are useful historical benchmarks, but Apple’s lineup and pricing have changed materially since then. Before buying, compare the exact configuration, current retailer price, warranty, return policy, and any coupon or membership requirement.

As of August 18, 2026, Apple lists the MacBook Neo from $699, MacBook Air from $1,299, MacBook Pro from $1,999, Mac mini from $799, iMac from $1,499, and Mac Studio from $2,499. These are starting prices, not necessarily the cheapest prices available from retailers. Check Apple’s current Mac lineup before comparing offers.

Update: The deals in this article were reported during Black Friday 2025. They are historical prices, not confirmed live offers. Retailer inventory and pricing can change, and no 2026 Black Friday sale had occurred as of August 18, 2026.

The following prices were reported on November 28, 2025. They may still help you judge whether a current offer is genuinely strong, but do not assume that any of them remains available.

MacRumors reported the complete 2025 deal list and described some prices as historical lows at the time. That does not make them permanent prices or proof that the same configuration is still in stock.

How the 2025 prices compare with Apple’s 2026 starting prices

Apple’s current starting prices are higher for several product families than the prices shown in the 2025 roundup:

Product family Apple starting price listed in August 2026
MacBook Neo $699
MacBook Air $1,299
MacBook Pro $1,999
Mac mini $799
iMac $1,499
Mac Studio $2,499

Apple raised Mac prices in June 2026, including a reported $200 increase across the MacBook Air range. Consequently, an older MacBook Air at a retailer may appear heavily discounted against Apple’s current price while still costing more than its Black Friday 2025 low. Macworld explains the 2026 MacBook Air price context, while TechRadar reported the broader June price changes.

Always compare like with like. A 256GB model is not equivalent to a 512GB model, and a base chip is not equivalent to a higher-core version simply because both carry the same product name.

Which Mac is the best value for different buyers?

Best budget laptop: MacBook Neo

The MacBook Neo is Apple’s lowest-priced current Mac option, starting at $699 in the indexed Apple store. It is worth considering for students and light users who prioritize upfront cost. It is less suitable for demanding creative work, extensive local storage, or buyers who want the most performance headroom for a long ownership period.

Rank #2
Apple 2026 MacBook Air 13-inch Laptop with M5 chip: Built for AI, 13.6-inch Liquid Retina Display, 16GB Unified Memory, 512GB SSD, 12MP Center Stage Camera, Touch ID, Wi-Fi 7; Silver
  • BUILT FOR COLLEGE. AND BEYOND — MacBook Air with the M5 chip packs blazing speed and powerful AI capabilities into an incredibly portable design. And with up to 18 hours of battery life,* this thin and light powerhouse is ready to take on almost any major, just about anywhere.
  • TEAR THROUGH TOUGH ASSIGNMENTS — With its faster CPU and unified memory, the M5 chip delivers even more performance and fluidity across apps, making multitasking and creative workflows smooth and responsive. A powerful Neural Engine and next-generation GPU with Neural Accelerators give you a powerful platform for AI.
  • MAKE QUICK WORK OF YOUR TO-DO LIST — Apple Intelligence helps you write, express yourself, and get things done effortlessly — whether it’s for school or everyday life. With groundbreaking privacy protections, it gives you peace of mind that no one else can access your data — not even Apple.*
  • UP TO 18 HOURS OF BATTERY LIFE — MacBook Air delivers incredible battery life with amazing performance, so you can power through a full day of classes without worrying about plugging in.
  • A BRILLIANT 13.6-INCH DISPLAY* — The gorgeous Liquid Retina display on MacBook Air supports 1 billion colors, making photos and videos pop with rich contrast and sharp detail, and text appears supercrisp. So everything — from class presentations to movies to games — looks truly stunning.

Best everyday laptop: MacBook Air

The MacBook Air is the better general-purpose choice for school, office work, programming, travel, browsing, photo editing, and light video work. A discounted previous-generation Air can still be a good purchase if it has at least 16GB of memory, carries a substantial discount, and costs less than—or close to—the current entry-level model.

Best large-screen laptop: 15-inch MacBook Air

The 15-inch Air is useful when screen space matters but portability still matters more than maximum sustained performance. Compare its price carefully with a discounted MacBook Pro: if the gap is small and your work includes long video exports, software builds, 3D work, or audio production, the Pro may justify the extra cost.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Best performance value: MacBook Pro

A discounted 14-inch MacBook Pro can be strong value for demanding workloads, particularly when it includes 16GB or more of memory and 512GB or more of storage. Its advantages can include sustained performance, additional ports, and a higher-end display. It is not automatically the best deal for basic users; an Air may provide everything they need at a lower total cost.

Best desktop value: Mac mini

The Mac mini has historically offered the lowest computer-only price. The 2025 roundup listed an M4 model from $479. But the computer is only part of the expense. Add a display, keyboard, mouse or trackpad, webcam, speakers or headphones, and possibly a hub or adapter. If you already own those peripherals, the mini can be excellent value. If not, compare the complete setup with an iMac.

Best all-in-one: iMac

The iMac costs more because it combines the computer and display in one package. It suits buyers who want a simple, attractive desk setup with minimal cable clutter. The Mac mini is more flexible and may be cheaper for someone who already owns a suitable monitor, but an iMac makes less sense if you expect to replace or upgrade the computer separately from the screen.

Best professional desktop: Mac Studio

Mac Studio is aimed at demanding professional workloads and buyers who do not need portability. It is excessive for ordinary browsing, schoolwork, and office tasks. Its starting price was listed at $2,499, before adding a display and other peripherals.

Best cautious refurbished purchase: Apple Certified Refurbished

Apple’s refurbished store can be a useful alternative when a new retailer deal has expired. Check the exact memory, storage, chip, warranty, condition, and return terms. Apple’s refurbished Mac catalog includes current and previous-generation inventory, including refurbished 2026 MacBook Pro models. A refurbished Mac is not automatically a bargain, but a meaningful discount with dependable first-party support can be better than an uncertain marketplace listing.

How to tell whether a Mac deal is genuinely good

  1. Identify the exact configuration. Record the chip, CPU and GPU core counts when relevant, memory, SSD capacity, screen size, and color.
  2. Compare with the current Apple price. Treat Apple’s price as the current manufacturer baseline, not as proof of the retailer’s former price.
  3. Check the historical low. A claim such as “all-time low” should identify the exact configuration, source, and date. The accurate wording is “MacRumors reported this as an all-time low on November 28, 2025,” not “this is the lowest price ever.”
  4. Calculate the real total. Include sales tax, shipping, required accessories, membership fees, and any paid warranty.
  5. Check the seller. Prefer the retailer itself or a clearly identified authorized seller over a marketplace seller with unclear warranty coverage.
  6. Read the conditions. Determine whether the price requires a coupon, account, membership, store card, financing, trade-in, or local pickup.
  7. Confirm the return policy and warranty. A small saving is rarely worthwhile if opened electronics have a short or restricted return period.

Memory and storage matter more than the percentage discount

For a new general-purpose Mac, 16GB of memory is a sensible minimum recommendation. Choose 24GB or more for heavier multitasking, development, creative applications, virtual machines, or a longer planned ownership period. Memory generally cannot be upgraded later, so an apparently cheap 8GB model can become an expensive compromise.

A 256GB SSD can work for light users who rely on cloud or external storage. A 512GB drive is safer for work files, applications, photos, and local media. Choose 1TB or more for large media libraries and creative projects, or if you strongly prefer not to manage external storage.

These are use-case recommendations, not universal technical requirements. The right configuration depends on your workload and how much local storage you actually use.

Direct discount versus Apple Gift Card

Retailers generally reduce the amount charged at checkout. Apple’s Black Friday promotion typically provides an Apple Gift Card instead of cutting the Mac’s sticker price. MacRumors’ Black Friday roundup describes the distinction.

  • Direct discount: the price reduction is immediate and does not require a later purchase.
  • Apple Gift Card: the value arrives as credit and is most useful if you already expect to buy Apple products or services.
  • Membership offer: the low price may require a paid membership.
  • Coupon price: you may need to click an on-page coupon or enter a code.
  • Open-box price: the product may have different packaging, condition, warranty, or return terms.

For personal-finance purposes, value a gift card at its realistic use to you—not automatically at its face value. A $100 credit you would not otherwise use is not equivalent to $100 off today’s purchase.

Should you buy an older Mac?

A previous-generation Mac can be a smart purchase when it has at least 16GB of memory, the discount is substantial, the machine is new or manufacturer-refurbished, and you do not need processor-specific features in the newest generation. It should also be priced below or close to the current entry-level model after configurations are normalized.

Be cautious when the discount is small, the model has only 8GB of memory, the seller is an unclear marketplace vendor, the configuration is unusually expensive, or the return period excludes opened electronics. Do not assume a specific software-support lifespan; Apple’s support decisions depend on the model and future operating-system requirements.

For buyers upgrading from an Intel Mac or a much older Apple-silicon model, even a previous-generation Apple-silicon Mac may offer a meaningful practical improvement. For owners of a recent Apple-silicon Mac, the case for upgrading should be based on a specific need rather than the size of the markdown.

What to do when the advertised price disappears

Deal pages can become stale faster than product pages. A price may change after you select a different color or storage option, apply a coupon, sign in, add the item to your cart, choose shipping instead of pickup, or select a store card.

If the price disappears, stop before paying and check:

  • Whether you selected the exact advertised configuration.
  • Whether the coupon is applied and whether it has expired.
  • Whether the product is sold by the retailer or a marketplace seller.
  • Whether the item is new, refurbished, or open-box.
  • Whether shipping, pickup, membership, or payment conditions changed the price.
  • Whether the final order total remains better than a current alternative.

If the product page and cart disagree, save the product page details and contact the retailer before ordering. Do not rely on an old search result or a cached deal headline.

Buyer’s checklist before ordering

  • Chip and core count
  • Memory capacity
  • SSD capacity
  • Screen size and color
  • New, refurbished, or open-box condition
  • Retailer and seller identity
  • Price before tax and shipping
  • Coupon, membership, trade-in, or payment requirement
  • Shipping date or local-pickup limitation
  • Return deadline and opened-electronics restrictions
  • Manufacturer and retailer warranty
  • AppleCare+ eligibility, if relevant
  • Date and time you checked the offer

Buy now or wait?

Buy now when the exact configuration fits your needs, the price is at or near a verified historical low, and the retailer offers normal warranty and return protection.

Choose an older model when the savings are substantial and it has adequate memory and storage. Do not accept an outdated 8GB configuration merely because its percentage discount looks impressive.

Wait when the saving is minor, the product is clearance-only, the seller or warranty is unclear, or a newer model is close in price. In August 2026, do not wait for “Black Friday” as though the 2026 event has already begun: Black Friday 2026 had not occurred at the time covered by this update.

For current retailer searches, Best Buy’s sale listings can reveal current inventory, but a search page is not enough evidence of a specific deal. Open the individual product page and verify price, stock, seller, and conditions immediately before purchase.
