The best values in the roundup were the LG B4 OLED at $600, Hisense U7N at $698, Hisense U8N at $898 and Samsung S90D at $1,198. The largest advertised discount—$630 off Samsung’s The Frame—was not necessarily the best picture-quality bargain.

The discounts were not automatically Super Bowl-specific promotions. TV prices commonly fall as manufacturers introduce new models in spring, with holiday pricing and clearance cycles also affecting the market. A large percentage discount against MSRP may therefore be less meaningful than the product’s recent selling price.

Engadget’s roundup was more useful because it compared offers with recent prices and historical lows, while identifying compromises involving brightness, contrast, viewing angles, ports and software. Still, terms such as “new low” or “ties the lowest price” should not be interpreted as proof that every offer was the lowest price ever.
Best low-cost OLED: LG B4
The 48-inch LG B4 OLED was one of the strongest historical values at $600. OLED’s pixel-level control delivers excellent black levels, contrast and viewing angles, making it particularly attractive for movies and gaming in a darker room.
For console players, the B4 offered four HDMI 2.1 ports and up to 120Hz. The trade-off was size: a 48-inch television is not directly comparable with the 65-inch LCD deals. It was also less bright than higher-end OLED models, so a sunlit room may favor an LCD or mini-LED-style television.

Best large-screen value: Hisense U7N
At a historical $698, the 65-inch Hisense U7N offered substantially more screen area than the LG B4 at a lower price. Its LCD/QLED design made it a practical choice for shoppers wanting a bright, large television without paying premium OLED prices.

The main qualification was viewing angle. Picture quality can degrade when viewers sit far to the side, so this was a better fit for a room with seating mostly in front of the screen. Settings may also require adjustment to achieve the preferred picture.
Best bright-room performance: Hisense U8N
The 65-inch Hisense U8N cost $898 in the historical promotion and was positioned above the U7N for brighter HDR and stronger contrast. It was a compelling choice for daytime sports and bright living rooms.
It was not flawless: the source noted mediocre viewing angles, some blooming and only moderate upscaling. Buyers who sit centrally and prioritize brightness could get more value from it than from an OLED at the same budget; viewers focused on dark-room movie performance may prefer OLED’s cleaner black levels.
Best premium gaming option: Samsung S90D
The 55-inch Samsung S90D QD-OLED was $1,198 historically, or $600 below the stated reference price. QD-OLED combines OLED contrast with strong color volume, making it attractive for HDR content and gaming.

The set offered four HDMI 2.1 ports and up to 144Hz, with 144Hz primarily benefiting compatible PC games. Console users should focus more on 4K/120Hz, variable refresh rate, automatic low-latency mode and the number of HDMI 2.1 inputs.
Samsung does not support Dolby Vision, although HDR10 and HDR10+ remain widely supported. Also verify the exact size and regional model: panel technology varied across S90D sizes and markets.
Best design-first TV: Samsung The Frame
The 55-inch Samsung The Frame 2024 had the largest advertised reduction—$630, bringing the historical price to $868 at Woot. Its appeal was the design: artwork mode and a wall-friendly appearance can make sense in a living room where a conventional black screen is undesirable.
That discount should not be confused with the best picture value. The Frame lacked local dimming, and its picture quality trailed similarly priced televisions. Pay the premium only if the design and artwork features matter to you.

Best bargain large TV: TCL Q651G
The 65-inch TCL Q651G was listed at a historical $368. That made it the lowest-cost large-screen option in the group and potentially attractive for a secondary room, casual viewing or a strict budget.
It was not aimed at movie enthusiasts seeking deep blacks or premium HDR. Its 120Hz mode required reduced resolution such as 1440p or 1080p, so PC gamers should not assume it provides native 4K/120Hz performance.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Best LED picture among the listed options: Sony Bravia 7
The 55-inch Sony Bravia 7 was $1,198 historically. Its advantages were a bright LED picture and accurate-looking out-of-box presentation, making it a sensible choice for buyers who prefer Sony’s processing and do not want OLED.
At the same historical price as the Samsung S90D, however, it offered fewer gaming inputs and weaker viewing angles. It had only two HDMI 2.1 ports, which can be limiting if you connect multiple current-generation consoles and a gaming PC.
Best Value
- A treat for the eyes: Sharp 4K brings out rich detail on our 43" flat screen TV, while colors pop off in lifelike clarity with HDR10. Roku Smart Picture cleans up incoming TV signals, optimizes them, and chooses the right picture mode.

OLED, QD-OLED or QLED: which display type fits your room?
- OLED: Best black levels, contrast and viewing angles, especially in dark rooms. The LG B4 and LG C3 are conventional OLED examples.
- QD-OLED: OLED contrast with stronger color volume and bright HDR color. The Samsung S90D and Sony A95L fit this category.
- QLED or mini-LED-style LCD: Usually better suited to bright rooms and daytime sports, but model-specific backlighting and local dimming matter. QLED alone does not guarantee mini-LED performance.
For wide seating, be cautious with the Hisense models and Sony Bravia 7 because their viewing-angle limitations were specifically noted. For a wall-mounted living room, The Frame may justify its cost through design rather than image quality.
Two home-theater extras—not TV deals
Roku Ultra 2024: The historical $79 offer suited viewers who wanted Roku’s interface, Ethernet, USB, AirPlay and a premium remote. It was unnecessary if the television’s built-in apps already met your needs.
Sonos Beam Gen 2: At a historical $399, the compact soundbar made the most sense for smaller rooms or existing Sonos households. It had one HDMI port and limited bass compared with larger systems. Software concerns reported in February 2025 should not be treated as an unchanged assessment of the product in 2026 without fresh evidence.

Engadget separately mentioned a 65-inch LG C3 OLED at $1,197, described as an attractive older OLED, and a 65-inch Sony A95L OLED at $2,498 through BuyDig on eBay with code SAVEBIG20. Those offers were identified as no longer available at the time and should not be presented as purchasable recommendations now. The A95L supported Dolby Vision, but the historical offer required checking seller authorization, condition, warranty and return terms. See Engadget’s separate deal page.
What to check before buying any TV deal
- Compare the real street price. A discount from MSRP may exaggerate the savings.
- Verify the exact model and size. Panel type, ports and features can vary by size, region and suffix.
- Check the seller. Confirm whether the item is sold by the retailer or a marketplace merchant.
- Confirm warranty eligibility. Verify new, open-box or refurbished condition and manufacturer coverage.
- Check delivery or pickup. Large TVs may require freight delivery, scheduling or in-store pickup.
- Review returns. Check the return window, restocking fees and damage procedures before ordering.
- Match the TV to the room. Choose OLED for dark-room contrast, brighter LCD options for sunlit rooms and avoid narrow-angle models for wide seating.
- Match gaming needs. Confirm 4K/120Hz, VRR, ALLM and HDMI 2.1 port counts rather than relying only on a headline refresh-rate number.
Bottom line
As of August 2026, these are archival February 2025 prices, not live deals. Judged on value at the time, the LG B4 was the best affordable OLED, the Hisense U7N the strongest large-screen bargain, the U8N the better bright-room upgrade and the Samsung S90D the most compelling premium gaming option. The Frame’s $630 discount was the biggest headline, but its design—not maximum picture quality—was the reason to buy it.
