If you are comparing Toyota’s least expensive 2025-model-year passenger cars, the price range starts at $22,325 and rises quickly once you move beyond the Corolla family. The list includes sedans, hatchbacks, hybrids, a plug-in hybrid, sports cars, and the hydrogen-powered Mirai.
This ranking uses Toyota’s published starting MSRP, not the amount you would pay at the dealership. Delivery and processing charges, taxes, title, registration, dealer fees, options, and accessories are extra. The 2025 model year is also a past model year as of August 2026, so these figures are best used for comparing 2025 vehicles—not as quotes for a new car currently in production.

1. Toyota Corolla LE: $22,325
The Corolla LE is the least expensive 2025 Toyota passenger car. It uses a 1.8-liter gasoline engine and is rated up to 32 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway.

For a buyer focused on the lowest purchase price, the Corolla is the straightforward choice. Its main financial advantage is that the initial price is $1,455 below the Corolla Hatchback and $1,500 below the Corolla Hybrid. That difference can matter more than fuel savings if you drive relatively few miles or plan to sell the car before fuel costs have time to offset the higher purchase price.
2. Toyota Corolla Hatchback SE: $23,780
The Corolla Hatchback costs $1,455 more than the Corolla sedan and comes in SE trim as the least expensive hatchback version. It has a 2.0-liter engine producing 169 horsepower and is rated up to 32 city/41 highway mpg.
The extra money buys a five-door body style and a larger engine, not a hybrid system. Compare insurance quotes before choosing it: a hatchback with a more powerful engine can produce a different premium than the base Corolla sedan, even when the MSRP gap is modest.
3. Toyota Corolla Hybrid LE: $23,825
The Corolla Hybrid LE is only $45 more than the Corolla Hatchback SE and $1,500 more than the gasoline Corolla LE. The front-wheel-drive version is rated up to 53 city/46 highway mpg.

If your driving includes substantial city mileage, the hybrid’s fuel economy may reduce running costs. The break-even point depends on miles driven, gasoline prices, financing costs, and the actual fuel economy you achieve. Do not assume the EPA maximum will apply to every driving pattern.
4. Toyota Prius LE: $28,350
The Prius LE starts $4,525 above the Corolla Hybrid LE and is rated up to 57 city/56 highway mpg in front-wheel-drive form. It is a hybrid hatchback rather than a conventional sedan.

The Prius makes more financial sense for drivers who value maximum fuel economy and need the hatchback format. However, its higher price means fuel savings should be estimated rather than assumed. A simple comparison is:
- Estimate your annual miles.
- Divide that number by the realistic mpg of each vehicle.
- Multiply the gallons by your expected gasoline price.
- Compare the annual fuel savings with the Prius’s additional purchase price, interest, insurance, and registration costs.
This calculation will show whether the higher-MSRP Prius fits your budget better than the less expensive Corolla Hybrid.

5. Toyota Camry LE: $28,700
The 2025 Camry LE starts $350 above the Prius LE. Unlike earlier Camry generations, the 2025 model is hybrid-only. The front-wheel-drive LE produces 225 net combined horsepower and is rated up to 53 city/50 highway mpg.
The Camry is the larger sedan in this group, so shoppers should compare more than the sticker price. A larger vehicle may better fit passengers and luggage, but it can also carry higher insurance, tire, and maintenance costs. Toyota’s later 2025 vehicle page lists the LE at $28,700; the older $28,400 figure came from an earlier launch announcement and should not be used for this ranking.
6. Toyota GR86 MT: $30,400
The GR86 MT is a rear-wheel-drive, two-door sports car with a six-speed manual transmission. Its $30,400 starting MSRP makes it the least expensive performance-focused Toyota on the list.
The “MT” matters. It identifies the manual-transmission version. The least expensive automatic GR86 starts at $31,500, or $1,100 more.

- Die-cast metal body with plastic parts
- Officially licensed product by Maisto International
- Highly-detailed die-cast precision model for collectible or play
- Detailed die-cast precision model
Purchase price is only part of the budget. Sports-car insurance, premium fuel, tires, and faster wear on consumable parts can materially change ownership costs. A GR86 may be affordable to buy but more expensive to insure and operate than a Corolla or Camry.
7. Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid SE: $33,375
The Prius Plug-in Hybrid SE starts $4,675 above the regular Prius LE. Toyota’s 2025 U.S. page uses the name Prius Plug-in Hybrid; it should not be labeled Prius Prime for this model year.
The SE offers up to 44 miles of electric range and up to 127 combined MPGe. Those figures are most useful to drivers who can charge regularly and complete much of their daily travel within the electric range. If you rarely plug in, you are paying for capability you may not use, and the regular Prius could be the more sensible purchase.
Before buying, check whether your home electrical setup can support convenient charging and whether your utility’s electricity rates make charging economical. Also price the vehicle using the incentives actually available to you; eligibility can depend on income, location, purchase date, and other rules.
8. Toyota GR Corolla Core: $39,160
The GR Corolla Core is an all-wheel-drive performance hatchback with 300 horsepower. At $39,160, it costs $8,760 more than the GR86 manual and $5,785 more than the Prius Plug-in Hybrid SE.
This is not a fuel-saving upgrade. The GR Corolla is aimed at buyers who want performance, traction, and a practical hatchback body. Its purchase budget should include insurance, tires, fuel, and potential financing costs. A low advertised monthly payment can obscure the total cost if the loan term is extended.

9. Toyota Crown XLE: $41,440
The Crown XLE is an all-wheel-drive hybrid sedan with a $41,440 starting MSRP. Toyota lists up to 42 city/41 highway mpg for the XLE and Limited grades using the 2.5-liter hybrid system.
It is nearly $13,000 more expensive than the Corolla Hybrid LE, so its case rests on size, equipment, and design—not on being the cheapest way to obtain Toyota hybrid fuel economy. The Crown Signia is a separate crossover SUV and is excluded from this passenger-car ranking; its 2025 XLE started at $44,090.

10. Toyota Mirai XLE: $51,795
The Mirai is the most expensive entry in the top 10, with a starting MSRP of $51,795. It is a hydrogen fuel-cell electric sedan, and Toyota lists a 402-mile estimated range.
Toyota also lists complimentary fuel of up to $15,000 or six years for purchases, whichever comes first. That benefit can substantially affect the ownership calculation, but only if hydrogen stations are practical for your regular routes. Fuel availability is a central financial and logistical risk: a low operating cost on paper is not useful if refueling requires long detours or stations are unavailable.

The list covers U.S.-market 2025 passenger cars only. It excludes SUVs, crossovers, trucks, and the Sienna minivan. The Sienna LE started at $39,485, but a minivan is not a passenger car under this article’s scope.
The 2025 GR Supra also does not make the top 10. Its 3.0 model started at $56,250, making it the next-cheapest qualifying passenger car after the Mirai.

How much should you budget beyond MSRP?
MSRP is a useful starting point, but it is not a purchase price. Toyota’s starting MSRP excludes:
- Delivery, processing, and handling charges
- Sales tax
- Title and registration
- Dealer fees
- Optional equipment and accessories
To build a realistic budget, ask the dealer for a written out-the-door price. Then compare that figure with your available cash, trade-in value, down payment, and loan offer. For financing, compare APR and total amount paid—not just the monthly payment. A $400 payment over 60 months and a $400 payment over 84 months are not equivalent commitments.
Also obtain insurance quotes before signing. The GR86, GR Corolla, Crown, and Mirai can produce very different premiums from the base Corolla. For hybrids and plug-in hybrids, include expected fuel or electricity costs, while Mirai shoppers should verify hydrogen access before treating Toyota’s fuel allowance as a usable saving.

The Prius and Camry add size or efficiency, the GR models add performance, and the Prius Plug-in Hybrid and Mirai require specific charging or refueling circumstances to deliver their full value.
