Tata Elxsi Dividend History (FY1999-2000 to FY2025-26) and What Investors Should Check

Latest position: Tata Elxsi’s FY2025-26 board recommendation is a dividend of ₹75 per share (750%), subject to shareholder approval. The company’s 37th AGM notice specifies 10 June 2026 as the record date if the recommendation is approved. That is a proposed entitlement, not proof that cash has already been paid. The verified history below combines Tata Elxsi’s official FAQ with the FY2024-25 and FY2025-26 reports; the official material available here does not establish a complete year-by-year figure for FY2017-18 through FY2022-23.

Latest Tata Elxsi dividend: what is confirmed

Tata Elxsi’s FY2025-26 Directors’ Report says the board recommended ₹75 per share, or 750%, “subject to tax” and shareholder approval. The proposed outflow is ₹467.23 crore based on 6,22,96,683 shares. Until the AGM result and payment notice confirm approval and dispatch, treat ₹75 as a recommendation rather than received income.

For FY2024-25, the board also recommended ₹75 per share (750%), with a proposed outflow of ₹467.13 crore on 6,22,84,124 shares. The FY2024-25 report shows ₹70 per share for FY2023-24 as the previous-year comparison. The NSE corporate-action information for FY2024-25 lists 11 June 2025 as the record date.

Verified Tata Elxsi dividend history

Tata Elxsi’s official dividend FAQ lists the following historical percentages. The FAQ explains that the rupee amount is calculated from the percentage and the share’s face value in force for that period. A percentage therefore cannot be compared with another company’s percentage without checking face value, splits and other capital changes.

FY2000-01 25%
FY2001-02 35%

The official sources used for this article do not provide a transcribed, verified figure for every year from FY2017-18 through FY2022-23. Do not fill those gaps with figures copied from an unverified dividend calendar. Retrieve the relevant annual reports if you need a continuous series for modelling or a tax record.

Why a 750% dividend does not mean 750% return

Percentage is applied to face value

Indian companies commonly announce dividends as a percentage of face value. If the face value is ₹10, a 750% declaration corresponds to ₹75 per share. It does not mean that an investor receives 750% of the market price or earns a 750% yield.

Yield uses the purchase price

To calculate a personal yield, divide the approved dividend per share by the price you paid per share and multiply by 100. The market price changes continuously, while the declared dividend is fixed per share. A buyer at a different price therefore has a different yield from an older shareholder, even though both receive the same ₹75 gross amount for the same eligible share.

Adjust historical comparisons

For a long-term comparison, put each year’s dividend on a consistent per-share basis after accounting for any face-value change, split or consolidation. Compare the resulting rupee amount with earnings, free cash flow and the share price; headline percentages alone can create a misleading trend.

Record date and who receives the dividend

The record date is the cut-off used to identify eligible holders. The FY2025-26 AGM notice names Wednesday, 10 June 2026 as the record date if the recommendation is approved. For FY2024-25, the NSE corporate-action listing shows 11 June 2025.

Eligibility is determined from the beneficial-owner data supplied by the depositories for electronic holdings, or from valid records for physical shares, at the stated close of business. The practical question is not simply whether you bought before the announcement; it is whether your name appears in the eligible records for that record date under the applicable settlement cycle.

If you buy after the record date

A purchase made after the applicable record date does not create an entitlement to that year’s dividend. The entitlement belongs to the holder identified in the record-date records. A buyer can still receive future dividends if the board recommends them and the buyer is eligible on a later record date.

If you sell around the record date

Trades close to the cut-off can be affected by settlement timing and the market’s ex-dividend convention. Use the exchange notice, your broker’s corporate-action entry and the contract note rather than relying on the trade date alone. When in doubt, ask the broker which settlement record will be delivered to the company for that specific event.

Recommendation, AGM approval and payment: the sequence to verify

  1. Read the annual report or AGM notice. Confirm the financial year, per-share amount, percentage, proposed outflow and the wording that makes the recommendation subject to approval.
  2. Check the AGM result. A board recommendation can be altered or not approved. Look for the voting outcome and the final resolution.
  3. Confirm the record date and payment notice. The record date identifies entitlement; the payment notice states when and how approved dividends will be remitted.
  4. Match the holder data. Electronic investors should see the entitlement through their depository-linked account; physical investors must have a valid folio and compliant records.
  5. Reconcile the cash and tax entries. Match the gross dividend, any tax deducted and the net credit with the broker statement and bank statement.

This sequence prevents a common error: treating an announced amount as guaranteed cash before the company has completed the approval and payment steps.

Dividend tax and TDS for Tata Elxsi investors

Tata Elxsi states that, under the regime applicable from 1 April 2020, dividend income is taxable in the member’s hands. The company deducts tax at prescribed rates where withholding applies. The dividend is therefore not automatically tax-free merely because it is paid by a listed company.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Use the gross dividend shown in the company or broker statement when reconciling income.
  • Check the tax deducted at source (TDS) entry against your tax records and the income-tax statement available to you.
  • Keep the dividend advice, broker ledger and bank credit for the relevant financial year.
  • If your residential status, form submissions or documentation affect the prescribed rate, resolve the discrepancy with the company’s registrar or a qualified tax adviser rather than guessing the rate.

The exact withholding outcome can depend on the holder’s status and valid documents. The company’s notice, your broker records and the tax statement should agree before you file.

How the dividend reaches your account

Electronic holdings

For shares held in a dematerialised account, the company uses the bank and contact details routed through the depository. An outdated bank account, an inactive mandate or a mismatch in account data can delay or reject an electronic payment. Update details with the depository participant before the record-date process is completed.

Physical holdings

Physical holders need a valid folio and completed KYC information. Tata Elxsi directs service requests for these records to MUFG Intime India Private Limited. Follow the registrar’s current forms and submission instructions, and retain proof of delivery.

What to do when no credit appears

  1. Check whether the dividend was approved and whether the payment date has passed.
  2. Compare the record-date eligibility with your contract note and depository statement.
  3. Verify the bank account or folio details held by the depository or registrar.
  4. Review the broker’s corporate-action ledger for a rejected, returned or pending payment.
  5. Contact the registrar with your folio or demat details and the dividend year.

Unclaimed Tata Elxsi dividends and IEPF

A missed credit is not automatically lost. Tata Elxsi provides instructions for older unclaimed dividends and transfers to the Investor Education and Protection Fund (IEPF). Start with the company’s unclaimed-dividend or IEPF information and identify the exact dividend year and folio or demat account.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Search the company’s unclaimed amount records using the holder name, folio or other requested identifier.
  • For an amount still held by the company or registrar, submit the prescribed KYC and bank details through the stated process.
  • If the dividend and, where applicable, shares have moved to IEPF, follow the IEPF claim procedure and preserve acknowledgement numbers and supporting documents.
  • Use the registrar’s help channel for name changes, transmission, deceased-holder claims or physical certificates, because these cases require additional evidence.

Do not pay an intermediary simply because a payment is old. Confirm the process with Tata Elxsi’s investor information and the registrar first.

Does the payout look covered by earnings?

Dividend history is only useful when paired with the company’s ability to fund the distribution. For FY2025-26, Tata Elxsi reported revenue from operations of ₹3,757.42 crore, profit after tax (PAT) of ₹628.43 crore and dividend expense of ₹467.13 crore. FY2024-25 PAT was ₹784.94 crore. The FY2025-26 ₹75 recommendation is unchanged from FY2024-25 even though reported PAT is lower, so an investor should examine cash flow, payout coverage and balance-sheet liquidity rather than infer sustainability from the unchanged headline amount.

  • Earnings coverage: compare the proposed dividend with PAT for the same year, while noting that accounting profit is not the same as cash available.
  • Free-cash-flow coverage: check operating cash flow after capital expenditure and other recurring uses.
  • Liquidity: review cash, investments, debt and near-term obligations before assuming the payout can be repeated.
  • One-off versus recurring: determine whether a higher dividend reflects a durable policy or an exceptional distribution.

A flat dividend can be reassuring when cash generation is stable, but it can also raise a coverage question when earnings fall. The reports provide the starting numbers; the investor must assess whether the balance sheet and cash flows support the policy.

A practical verification checklist

Use primary records in this order before making an investment decision or booking income:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Open Tata Elxsi’s investor-relations page and the annual report for the relevant financial year.
  2. Confirm the board’s recommendation, face-value basis, proposed outflow and whether approval is still pending.
  3. Read the AGM notice for the record date and payment conditions.
  4. Cross-check the exchange corporate-action notice, including the event date and security details.
  5. After payment, reconcile the gross amount, TDS and net bank credit with your broker statement.
  6. For an absent or old payment, check the registrar and the company’s IEPF instructions before assuming the claim has expired.

Broker corporate-action pages and portfolio trackers can help you monitor dates, but they should be treated as alerts. The company notice, exchange record and your own account statements are the documents that establish entitlement and payment.

How to compare Tata Elxsi with another dividend stock

A fair comparison uses more than the rupee amount. Put both companies on the same basis and examine:

Comparison area Question to answer
Dividend per share and growth Has the per-share amount grown, remained flat or fluctuated after adjusting for face-value changes?
Earnings and free-cash-flow coverage Are profits and cash generation sufficient to fund the stated payout?
Consistency Is the distribution recurring, or is it driven by an occasional surplus?
Record-date and payment reliability Are the dates clearly disclosed and are credits received without unresolved exceptions?
Balance-sheet liquidity Can the company meet operating and financing needs after the distribution?
Investor tax treatment How is the dividend taxed for your status, and what TDS documentation will you receive?
Market-price context What yield results at your purchase price, and how does valuation affect the investment case?

Never rank two stocks solely by a 750% versus 500% headline. Those percentages may use different face values, and neither captures the share price, cash coverage or tax outcome.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Counting a board recommendation as a final payment before the AGM resolution.
  • Assuming a purchase made near the record date automatically qualifies without checking settlement and holder records.
  • Calling the dividend tax-free or ignoring TDS in the tax return.
  • Comparing percentage declarations without converting them to comparable rupee amounts.
  • Using an incomplete online history as if FY2017-18 through FY2022-23 were verified.
  • Ignoring bank, KYC or folio problems when an electronic or physical payment fails.
  • Judging sustainability from dividend history alone without reviewing PAT, cash flow and liquidity.

Bottom line for an investor checking Tata Elxsi’s dividend

The documented recent pattern is ₹70 per share for FY2023-24 followed by ₹75 recommendations for FY2024-25 and FY2025-26. The FY2025-26 amount is payable only after approval, and the stated 10 June 2026 record date applies if that approval occurs. Confirm the AGM and payment notices, verify your record-date status, reconcile TDS and bank credit, and investigate unclaimed amounts through Tata Elxsi and its registrar. Then judge the dividend alongside earnings, free cash flow and liquidity rather than treating the headline percentage as a return guarantee.
