First identify the item category
The category determines which deadline applies. A product can look like a normal household purchase yet still be considered holiday-themed if it is marketed or designed for Christmas. Conversely, an everyday item sold in the same seasonal shop may fall under the non-holiday rule. If the classification is unclear, use the receipt description, packaging and the store’s current notice before relying on the later deadline.

Holiday-themed merchandise
In-store holiday-themed items have two different cutoffs. The refund window closes first, on December 12, while exchanges remain available through December 24. That distinction matters if a gift is unwanted but the recipient would accept a different size, color or item: after the refund cutoff, an exchange may still be possible until the exchange cutoff, provided every other condition is met.
Non-holiday merchandise
Non-holiday items purchased in a Spirit Christmas store can be refunded or exchanged through December 30 under the seasonal policy. The page does not attach a year to this date, so verify the season shown on your receipt or store notice. The later date does not override the receipt, packaging, condition or exclusion rules.
Online holiday-themed merchandise
Online holiday-themed returns use a mailing deadline rather than the date a warehouse receives the parcel. The package must be postmarked before December 24, 2026. Mailing it on the deadline without a qualifying postmark, or waiting for delivery after the deadline, creates a timing risk. Keep the carrier receipt and tracking record as evidence of when the package entered the mail stream.

For an online order, use the return flow in your account or the instructions printed on the invoice. The order record and required return slip serve the same practical purpose as a store receipt: they let the return center match the parcel to the purchase and apply the original payment method.
Resalable condition and original packaging
In-store merchandise should be in resalable condition and in its original packaging. That generally means the product is complete, clean, undamaged and packaged well enough for the store to put it back into inventory. Do not remove labels, discard inserts or mix parts from different items while deciding whether to keep a gift.
Online requirements add that the item should be unworn and include its original accessories. Pack every component, manual, attachment and protective piece that arrived with the order. A return can be delayed or rejected when the warehouse cannot verify that the product is complete and suitable for resale.
Consumables are final sale
The Christmas-specific policy expressly states that all sales of consumables are final. A consumable is intended to be used up, opened or depleted rather than returned to inventory. Check the product description and packaging before buying or gifting one; the ordinary seasonal deadlines do not create a return right for these items.

How to make an in-store return or exchange
- Classify the merchandise. Decide whether it is holiday-themed or non-holiday and note whether it is a consumable.
- Check the applicable seasonal cutoff. Use the refund or exchange deadline for that category, and confirm the year and any local notice because the printed in-store dates are not paired with a year on the Christmas page.
- Gather the item and proof. Bring the complete product, original packaging and receipt. Make sure the item is resalable.
- Go to a Spirit Christmas store. Present the item and receipt at the service desk before the relevant deadline. Explain whether you want a refund or an exchange.
- Keep the transaction record. Retain the completed return or exchange document until the refund appears or you have the replacement item.
For a holiday-themed item, an exchange can remain available after the refund window has closed, but only until the separate exchange cutoff. A non-holiday item has one later deadline for both outcomes. The store can still apply the condition, receipt and final-sale rules to either request.
How to return an online order
- Open the order record. Start in your account’s return flow or follow the instructions on the invoice. Those instructions identify the return address, paperwork and any item-specific directions.
- Confirm eligibility. Check that the product is not a consumable or another excluded item, and that it is unworn, complete and accompanied by its original accessories.
- Complete the return paperwork. Include the required return slip or invoice information inside the parcel so the warehouse can identify the order.
- Package the product securely. Use the original packaging where possible, protect fragile components and include every accessory.
- Prepay and send the parcel. Spirit generally requires the customer to prepay return shipping unless an exception in the order instructions applies. For holiday-themed merchandise, obtain a carrier postmark before December 24, 2026.
- Save tracking evidence. Keep the receipt, tracking number and a copy of the paperwork until the refund has posted. Tracking does not change the eligibility rules, but it helps establish when and where the parcel was tendered.
Spirit’s online process does not provide a direct item-for-item exchange. To get a different product, place a new order and return the original item for a refund. That can mean a new charge is made before the first payment is credited, and the replacement’s price or availability may differ.

Spirit generally credits an online refund to the original payment method. The same principle usually applies to an in-store refund, subject to the payment method and the store’s ability to process the transaction. Online refunds usually post within 5–7 business days after the warehouse receives the return. In-store refunds generally post within 2–3 business days. These are estimates, not guarantees; Spirit notes that seasonal volume can cause delays. The warehouse-receipt clock for an online return is different from the mailing deadline, so keep tracking until delivery is confirmed and then allow the stated processing time.

What happens to shipping charges
Original and return shipping charges are generally not refunded. The return instructions or an item-specific exception control if Spirit agrees to cover a shipping cost. Before mailing an online item, calculate the postage and decide whether the refund amount justifies the expense.

Spirit’s general Terms of Sale add other exclusions for online purchases: intimate products, wigs, body jewelry, custom products and clearance merchandise. These broader terms may apply even when an item was purchased during the holiday season. Check the order invoice and the item-specific terms before sending anything back, because a seasonal date alone does not make an excluded product returnable.
The seasonal Christmas page and the general Terms of Sale serve different purposes. The Christmas page supplies the special holiday merchandise deadlines; the general terms describe the standard online framework and product exclusions. For a Spirit Christmas order, apply the Christmas-specific holiday date first, then confirm the general condition and exclusion rules in the invoice or terms accompanying that order.
What to do in common deadline situations
A Christmas decoration after December 12
If the decoration is holiday-themed and you are seeking a refund in a store after December 12, it is outside the stated refund window. An exchange may still be available through December 24 if you have the receipt, original packaging and a resalable item. After the exchange cutoff, the published seasonal policy does not provide a later holiday-themed remedy.

A gift after Christmas
Christmas Day is December 25, so a holiday-themed in-store gift brought back after that date is beyond the December 24 exchange deadline. A non-holiday item may remain eligible through December 30, assuming the receipt and condition requirements are met. Online holiday-themed items have the separate postmark rule: they must enter the mail before December 24, 2026, regardless of when the recipient opens the package.
No receipt or damaged packaging
The published in-store policy requires a receipt and original packaging, and it requires resalable condition. If either is missing, the seasonal policy does not promise approval. Gather any electronic transaction record, unopened components and packaging you still have, then ask the store to review the item rather than assuming a refund or exchange will be granted.
An item appears on an exclusion list
