The broker announced on 9 July 2019 that it had become an official sponsor of the Cyprus-based club, which was founded in 1976.
The team was subsequently branded RoboMarkets AEL. In November 2022, RoboMarkets announced a more specific arrangement: it would serve as the team’s Gold and Title sponsor for the 2022–2023 season.
What RoboMarkets announced in 2019
RoboMarkets announced its sponsorship of AEL Limassol’s women’s volleyball team on 9 July 2019. The company described itself as the team’s “Official sponsor” and said it was proud that the team had been named after the company.
The name used in the announcement was RoboMarkets AEL. Contemporary coverage from Finance Magnates described the arrangement as a sponsorship under which AEL Limassol was renamed RoboMarkets AEL.

- 20'LX3'W VOLLEYBALL NET: This volleyball net is 20 ft long, 3 ft wide, 4 inches on the sides, 1.5 inches on the top and bottom straps, and waterproof. The mesh measures 3.9 inches and will not warp when torn. If you find the standard 32ft size too long, it's perfectly fine to choose this for your volleyball game!
- HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE: This volleyball net is available in three heights: men's (8'), co-ed (7.8’) and women's (7.4'). The perfect match between the guide line and the metal stakes allows the net to be adjusted to the right position and stay firmly in place even when hit hard by the volleyball
- STRONG AND STURDINESS: Made of 18-ply polyester, this volleyball net is strong and durable for all levels of play. Featuring double stitching and reinforced corners for even tension and extra durability, the volleyball net is made to last. Steel poles with black powder-coating for rust-resistance and long term service. Thickened ground spikes for better stability of the volleyball net
- EASY TO SET UP AND CARRY: The button locking system is designed for easy installation and removal without tools. You can easily train and play volleyball in your backyard, beach, parks and other venues; equipped with a carrying bag that makes it easy to store and carry
- COMPLETE SET INCLUDES: The volleyball net set includes 20ft volleyball net, volleyball, pole system, guide line, boundary lines, ground stakes, pump, Spool and carrying bag. NOT INTENDED FOR USERS UNDER 12 YEARS OLD
This distinction matters because some later reports incorrectly identify 2022 as the starting point of the partnership. The available announcements show that 2022 was a later title-sponsorship agreement, while the commercial relationship itself was announced in 2019.
The 2022 Gold and Title sponsorship
On 8 November 2022, RoboMarkets said it had become the team’s Gold and Title sponsor for the 2022–2023 season. The team would compete under the name RoboMarkets AEL Volleyball.
The announcement said the relationship had begun five years earlier, consistent with the original 2019 sponsorship announcement. It specified the 2022–2023 season as the period covered by that announcement and did not disclose the financial value of the sponsorship.
| Date | What was announced | Team name or branding |
|---|---|---|
| 9 July 2019 | RoboMarkets became an official sponsor | RoboMarkets AEL |
| 8 November 2022 | RoboMarkets became Gold and Title sponsor for the 2022–2023 season | RoboMarkets AEL Volleyball |
Is RoboMarkets still sponsoring AEL?
The public evidence supports continued use of the RoboMarkets name in sponsor and club communications, but it does not establish the exact legal term of a current sponsorship contract.

RoboMarkets’ current sponsorship page labels the volleyball relationship “2019 – to date” and describes the company as the team’s Title and Gold Sponsor. Its Cyprus team page also says AEL Limassol was later rebranded to RoboMarkets AEL.
AEL’s own volleyball website has continued to use “RoboMarkets AEL Volleyball” in team news, including articles about coaching and club activity. A report on the club’s 2024–2025 team presentation also referred to “Robomarkets AEL Volley” and listed the team’s players, coaches, staff and sponsors.
There is, however, a naming difference in official competition records. The Cyprus Volleyball Federation’s schedule and a 2025–2026 score sheet generally use “AEL” or “AEL Limassol.” That shorter name is not, by itself, proof that the commercial sponsorship ended. It appears to be the federation’s competition-record naming convention, while the club and sponsor use the branded name.
The careful conclusion is therefore:
RoboMarkets announced its sponsorship in 2019 and later announced Gold and Title sponsorship for the 2022–2023 season. RoboMarkets and AEL continued to use “RoboMarkets AEL” in their own public communications, while federation records commonly use “AEL” or “AEL Limassol.” No current contract renewal or term beyond the 2022–2023 announcement was found.

AEL’s history and reported titles
AEL’s women’s volleyball department was founded in Limassol in 1976 and is one of Cyprus’s most successful women’s volleyball programmes.
AEL’s official volleyball page currently lists:
- 30 national championship titles;
- 28 Cyprus Cups; and
- 13 Super Cups.
Those figures should be treated as attributed club figures rather than a perfectly reconciled historical record. The same AEL page contains conflicting numbers: its narrative refers to 28 championships and 12 Super Cups, while its displayed title list gives 30 championships and 13 Super Cups. RoboMarkets’ 2019 announcement cited 29 championships, 28 Cups and 13 Super Cups.
For that reason, it is safer to describe AEL as a highly decorated club and clearly attribute any exact total to the source and date, rather than present one unreconciled figure as definitive.
Why the sponsorship naming can be confusing
- The sponsorship began in 2019. The 2022 announcement was not the first public announcement of the partnership.
- “Title sponsor” describes branding, not necessarily ownership. A sponsor’s name can appear in the team’s commercial or public-facing name without changing the club’s underlying identity.
- Different organisations use different names. RoboMarkets and AEL use “RoboMarkets AEL,” while volleyball federation records often use “AEL” or “AEL Limassol.”
- A published season term is not proof of termination. The 2022 release covered the 2022–2023 season, but the sponsor’s current page and later club communications continue to display the RoboMarkets branding.
Sources and verification
The key dates come from RoboMarkets’ 9 July 2019 announcement and its 8 November 2022 announcement distributed through PR Newswire.

Is the sponsorship definitely still legally active?
The sponsor’s current page describes the relationship as running from 2019 to date, and AEL has continued using the RoboMarkets name in club communications. However, no current contract, renewal document or legal term beyond the 2022–2023 announcement was found, so the exact current contract status cannot be independently confirmed.
Why do Cyprus Volleyball Federation records often say only AEL?
Federation competition schedules and score sheets commonly use the shorter sporting name “AEL” or “AEL Limassol.” That naming difference does not, by itself, prove that the RoboMarkets sponsorship ended.
How many titles has AEL won?
AEL’s current official volleyball page lists 30 national championships, 28 Cyprus Cups and 13 Super Cups. The page’s historical narrative gives different championship and Super Cup totals, while RoboMarkets’ 2019 announcement cited 29 championships, 28 Cups and 13 Super Cups. Exact totals should therefore be attributed to the relevant source.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: RoboMarkets announced its sponsorship of AEL Limassol’s women’s volleyball team in 2019. It later became the Gold and Title sponsor for the 2022–2023 season, with the team using the RoboMarkets AEL branding. RoboMarkets and AEL continued to use that name in their own public materials, although the available evidence does not independently confirm the legal term of a sponsorship contract beyond the 2022–2023 season.
