The clearest consumer-facing example is Ask Ralph, an AI styling tool that connects questions about what to wear with products in Ralph Lauren’s assortment.
The plan is already backed by substantial Fiscal 2026 momentum. Ralph Lauren reported $8.1 billion in revenue, added 6.5 million direct-to-consumer customers and reached approximately 70 million social-media followers. At the same time, the company put AI literacy and enablement into executive incentives, showing that AI is being managed as an operating priority rather than treated only as a marketing experiment.

What Ralph Lauren’s “Next Great Chapter: Drive” plan is designed to do
Ralph Lauren describes its strategy as “Next Great Chapter: Drive.” President and Chief Executive Officer Patrice Louvet says the plan builds on the brand’s positioning, the strength of its products across lifestyle categories and its presence in key cities. The strategy has three connected pillars.

Elevate and energize the lifestyle brand
The company is continuing to present Ralph Lauren as an inclusive luxury lifestyle brand rather than a single-product label. Fashion shows, sports, music and documentary events serve as brand moments that can bring customers into a broader world around the products. Executive Chairman and Chief Creative Officer Ralph Lauren described the brand’s nearly 60-year foundation as “optimism, quality, authenticity, and a life well lived.”

Drive the core and add higher-potential categories
Polo and other recognizable lifestyle products remain the commercial foundation, while the company is expanding in categories with room to grow. In Fiscal 2026, Women’s Apparel, Outerwear and Handbags each increased more than 20% year over year in constant currency. Average unit retail across the direct-to-consumer network rose 15%, a sign that the company is emphasizing product mix, desirability and full-price selling rather than relying mainly on discounts.
Win in key cities with a consumer ecosystem
Ralph Lauren is combining stores, digital channels, events and social platforms in cities where it can build repeated customer relationships. The approach is intended to improve acquisition and retention across the direct-to-consumer business while preserving the reach of wholesale partners. The available Fiscal 2026 disclosures do not provide a like-for-like store-versus-wholesale performance split, so the relative contribution of each channel cannot yet be quantified.

Ask Ralph is the shopper-facing AI experiment
Ralph Lauren’s Fiscal 2026 proxy identifies the launch of Ask Ralph as an AI-powered styling highlight. An October 17, 2026 report says shoppers can type open-ended style questions in the Ralph Lauren app and receive outfit recommendations connected to products currently in inventory. Those app features and their availability are time-sensitive; the company’s proxy confirms the launch, but detailed functionality can change by market and app version.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe important shift is from browsing a catalog to describing an occasion, preference or problem in ordinary language. A shopper might ask for an outfit for a weekend trip or for help coordinating a jacket, shirt and accessories. The system can then act as a discovery layer for Ralph Lauren’s existing assortment. That is personalized shopping in a practical sense, but it is not evidence that the company has already improved conversion, margins, inventory turns or customer satisfaction. Ralph Lauren has not published those outcome measures for Ask Ralph.

Fiscal 2026 results show where the strategy is gaining traction
| Measure | Fiscal 2026 result or forward target | What it indicates |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $8.1 billion, up 15% reported and 12% in constant currency | Growth was strong even after removing currency effects. |
| New direct-to-consumer customers | 6.5 million added during Fiscal 2026 | The company is expanding its owned customer base, where it controls the digital relationship and merchandising. |
| Social audience | Approximately 70 million followers | A large distribution base for brand storytelling and product discovery. |
| Average unit retail | Up 15% across the direct-to-consumer network | Higher prices or richer product mix supported sales; the figure is not a measure of profit by itself. |
| Category growth | Women’s Apparel, Outerwear and Handbags each up more than 20% year over year in constant currency | Growth is extending beyond the traditional men’s polo franchise. |
| Asia | Revenue up 23% reported; China described as approximately 40% growth in the 2026 proxy summary | Asia, particularly China, was a major regional growth engine. |
| Fiscal 2025–2028 revenue outlook | Mid-single-digit compound annual growth rate expected | This is management’s forward expectation, not a Fiscal 2026 result. |
| Fiscal 2028 operating-margin outlook | Expansion of 100–150 basis points expected | The plan aims to convert growth into better operating profitability. |
| Shareholder returns through Fiscal 2028 | At least $2 billion of planned cumulative returns | A capital-allocation commitment separate from operating revenue. |
Who Ralph Lauren is trying to win
The strategy is aimed at younger, higher-value customers who are less price-sensitive, while maintaining the brand’s premium positioning. Younger shoppers can enter through social content, digital styling and accessible core products, then move into categories such as women’s apparel, outerwear and handbags. Higher average unit retail suggests the company wants those relationships to support premium baskets, not just low-priced volume.
That positioning also explains the emphasis on recognizable products. A “Polo Ralph Lauren men’s polo shirt” is an easy starting point for a customer who knows the brand, while Ask Ralph can connect that familiar item to a complete look. Whether this produces lasting retention will depend on repeat purchases and customer economics that have not yet been disclosed.

Why AI changed the executive bonus scorecard
Ralph Lauren’s SEC-filed Fiscal 2026 proxy says AI metrics replaced citizenship and sustainability metrics as the strategic goal modifier in the short-term incentive plan. The new scorecard uses key performance indicators tied to AI literacy and enablement, described as critical business priorities. Executives exceeded the targets, and the company approved a 10% upward adjustment to the Fiscal 2026 bonus payout.

This is the strongest public signal that AI has moved into operating governance. It gives management a reason to train employees, deploy tools and measure adoption across the business, rather than leaving AI inside a marketing or innovation team. The change does not mean sustainability oversight ended; sustainability remains part of governance even though it was removed from this particular incentive modifier.

What shoppers should watch next
- Ask Ralph’s usefulness: Look for evidence that recommendations are accurate, inventory-aware and available in a shopper’s market.
- Repeat engagement: The key test is whether AI-assisted discovery brings customers back and increases complete-outfit purchases.
- Full-price demand: The 15% Fiscal 2026 increase in average unit retail needs to be sustained without weakening customer loyalty.
- Category breadth: Continued growth in women’s apparel, outerwear and handbags would show that the ecosystem is broader than the core polo business.
- Regional durability: Asia’s reported 23% growth and China’s approximately 40% growth will need to persist beyond one fiscal year.
For now, Ralph Lauren has demonstrated scale, customer acquisition and management commitment to AI. It has not yet published enough data to prove that Ask Ralph itself is producing a financial return. The next meaningful evidence will be conversion, retention, margin or inventory results explicitly tied to the tool and the wider AI program.
