Prediction-market funding costs and payout times depend on the platform, payment rail, account verification, and location. On Kalshi, ACH deposits and withdrawals carry no Kalshi fee, debit deposits can cost up to 2%, and crypto processors may add a disclosed charge. Kalshi lists a $10 minimum deposit, or $1,000 for a wire. Debit withdrawals are normally instant, but security checks and temporary deposit holds can delay access. Other platforms and payment methods can take several days, so check the fee and limit shown in your own account before transferring money.
Separate the three kinds of cost
A payment screen can show several different charges. Treating them as one “prediction-market fee” makes comparisons misleading.

Deposit fees
A deposit fee is charged when money enters the account. Kalshi’s fee schedule, effective July 7, 2026, lists ACH deposits as free of a Kalshi charge. Debit-card deposits can incur a fee of up to 2%. A wire provider may charge its own bank fee even though Kalshi says it does not add a wire-deposit fee. Crypto deposits can involve a third-party processor charge, which should be displayed before you approve the transfer. Kalshi also reserves the right to charge between 0% and 2% on alternate payment rails.

Withdrawal fees
A withdrawal fee is separate from the cost of putting money in. Kalshi lists ACH withdrawals as having no Kalshi fee. Crypto and wire transactions can still create processor or bank costs. Wire withdrawals are not supported for transactions under $500,000 under the July 2026 schedule, so a small withdrawal cannot use that rail.

Trading fees
Moving cash without a platform charge does not make trading free. Kalshi publishes a separate, price-dependent contract-trading fee table. The amount depends on the contract and transaction, not on whether the deposit arrived through a free ACH transfer. Include trading charges when estimating the cost of a complete deposit-to-trade-to-withdraw cycle.
| Kalshi payment activity | Published treatment | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| ACH deposit | No Kalshi fee | Your bank could still impose its own charge. |
| ACH withdrawal | No Kalshi fee | Processing and availability depend on the account and rail. |
| Debit deposit | Up to 2% | The applicable amount should appear during funding. |
| Debit withdrawal | Normally instant | Security verification or a deposit hold can delay it. |
| Wire deposit | No Kalshi wire-deposit fee | The sending bank may charge; minimum deposit is $1,000. |
| Wire withdrawal | Not supported below $500,000 | This threshold applies to the published schedule effective July 7, 2026. |
| Crypto | Third-party fee may apply | The processor should disclose its charge before confirmation. |
| Alternate rails | Kalshi may charge 0%–2% | The actual rate depends on the rail and transaction. |
| Contract trading | Separate price-dependent fee table | A free transfer is not a fee-free trade. |
Which payment methods are available?
Kalshi accounts
Kalshi’s transfer FAQ lists debit cards, including Apple Pay and Google Pay, ACH bank transfer, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App for deposits only, crypto, and wire transfer. PayPal and Venmo may be unavailable in some states. Payment accounts generally must use the same name as the Kalshi account, so a card or bank account belonging to another person can fail identity or withdrawal checks.
The listed methods are not a promise that every account will see every option. Your country, state, verification status, and account history can change the rails displayed on the Transfers page.

The Kalshi FAQ specifically lists debit cards, not credit cards. Therefore, do not assume that a credit card will work simply because a debit card does. If a platform’s current funding screen does not show credit-card support, use one of the displayed methods rather than attempting to bypass the restriction through a digital wallet.

International accounts
Kalshi says international accounts have fewer rails. Its FAQ lists debit, crypto, and wire for international deposits and withdrawals, while ACH, PayPal, Venmo, and Cash App are unavailable for international accounts. Currency conversion, correspondent-bank charges, and local compliance checks can add costs or time that are not shown as a Kalshi fee.
What cross-platform comparisons can—and cannot—tell you
An October 12, 2026 comparison published by CBS Sports reports that Kalshi and Polymarket US support online bank transfer, debit, and Apple Pay. It also reports that Kalshi lists PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, and crypto, and discusses FanDuel Predicts and Novig. The comparison reports platform-specific differences, including a 2% Kalshi debit-deposit fee and no Polymarket US deposit fee for the methods it listed. Those statements are a dated secondary comparison, not a guarantee for your account.
| Platform | What the October 12, 2026 comparison reports | What remains unconfirmed here |
|---|---|---|
| Kalshi | Online bank transfer, debit, Apple Pay; also PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, and crypto. Debit deposits reported at 2%. | Account-specific maximums and the exact rail available to every user. |
| Polymarket US | Online bank transfer, debit, and Apple Pay; no deposit fee for the listed methods was reported; a $10 minimum was reported. | Primary confirmation of current methods, fees, limits, and processing times. |
| FanDuel Predicts | Included in the comparison. | Specific methods, fees, minimums, and maximums are not established by the available evidence. |
| Novig | Included in the comparison. | Specific methods, fees, minimums, and maximums are not established by the available evidence. |
Because payment policies can change, open the platform’s current fee and transfer pages immediately before funding. A comparison article can identify questions to ask; it cannot replace the terms attached to your account.
How long do withdrawals take?
Kalshi debit withdrawals
Kalshi states: “Debit withdrawals are normally instant, but occasionally our payment processor requires additional verification for security.” “Normally instant” is an expectation, not a guaranteed settlement time. A security review can pause the payout even when the withdrawal request appears complete.
Rank #3
Deposit holds
Funds recently deposited can be temporarily held. Kalshi says the hold depends on the payment method and that the FAQ does not provide one universal duration. After the deposit processes and the applicable hold ends, the funds can be withdrawn to the original payment method. A balance that is visible for trading is therefore not necessarily withdrawable immediately.
Other rails and other platforms
The October 2026 comparison describes withdrawal times ranging from near-instant to several days, depending on platform and payment method. It also warns that instant trading credit and the time a bank statement updates can differ. Use those reports as a broad expectation only; the account-specific status and the selected rail control the actual result.
Deposit and withdrawal limits
Kalshi minimums
Kalshi’s FAQ lists a $10 minimum deposit. Wire deposits have a $1,000 minimum instead. These are minimum funding amounts, not promises that every payment method can be used for every amount.

Kalshi maximums
Kalshi does not publish one universal maximum in the cited FAQ. It directs users to the Transfers page, where the limit for that account appears. Limits can therefore differ by verification level, location, payment rail, risk controls, or account history. Do not substitute another user’s screenshot or a general internet figure for the number shown in your account.
Rank #4
Large wire transfers
The July 7, 2026 Kalshi fee schedule says wire withdrawals are not supported for transactions under $500,000. That is a rail restriction, not a statement that every account can withdraw $500,000 or that a transfer of that size will be approved without additional review.
Reported Polymarket US minimum
The October comparison reports a $10 minimum for Polymarket US, but primary documentation confirming that figure was not established. Treat it as a reported snapshot and verify the current deposit screen before relying on it.
Choose a payment rail by total cost and timing
Evaluate the whole transaction rather than the headline deposit fee.
| Decision factor | Question to answer | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Total cost | Are there platform, bank, network, processor, and trading charges? | A 0% deposit fee can still be followed by trading or conversion costs. |
| Availability | Is the rail supported in your country or state? | International and state-level restrictions remove otherwise visible options. |
| Identity match | Does the payment account use your platform-verified name? | Name mismatches can trigger failed deposits, holds, or extra verification. |
| Time to trade | Is the deposit credited immediately, or must it clear first? | Visible balance and usable buying power are not always the same. |
| Time to withdraw | What hold, review, and settlement steps apply? | “Instant” can still be interrupted by security checks or bank posting. |
| Limits | What are the minimum, account maximum, and large-transfer rules? | A rail may be cheap but unusable for the amount you need to move. |
Step-by-step: fund, trade, and withdraw without surprises
- Confirm eligibility. Check that prediction-market services are available where you live and complete any identity verification requested by the platform.
- Open the Transfers or funding screen. Record the methods displayed for your account, the minimum, the maximum, and any warning about holds.
- Compare the final confirmation screen. Look for a debit percentage, processor charge, exchange-rate spread, or bank fee before authorizing the transaction.
- Use a matching payment account. The name on the bank account, card, or wallet should match the verified platform account where required.
- Save the transaction details. Keep the amount, rail, timestamp, confirmation number, and expected status so support can trace a delayed transfer.
- Check whether funds are held. Do not assume that a newly deposited balance can be withdrawn. Read the hold notice attached to that payment method.
- Review trading costs separately. Before placing a contract order, open the contract fee information; transfer pricing does not describe the trading fee.
- Withdraw through an eligible rail. Select the method permitted for the funds and account. If the platform requires return to an original payment method, a new destination may be rejected.
- Monitor both platform and bank status. A platform can mark a payout processed before your bank or card issuer posts it.
Common failure modes and fixes
The card is rejected
Confirm that it is a supported debit card, that the billing name matches, and that your state or country allows the rail. A credit card may simply not be an accepted method. Try an ACH or another method shown in your account rather than repeatedly submitting the same card.

The withdrawal is pending
Check whether the deposit is still inside a payment-method hold or whether the processor requested security verification. Complete any identity prompt, then compare the request time with the platform’s stated processing expectation. Avoid creating duplicate withdrawals while the first request is under review.
The amount is over the limit
Use the maximum displayed on your Transfers page, not a published anecdote. Split transfers only if the platform expressly permits that approach and confirm whether each transfer creates a separate fee or hold.
The received amount is lower than expected
Compare the confirmation receipt with the bank statement. The difference can come from a debit fee, crypto processor charge, wire-bank fee, currency conversion, or trading fee. Ask the relevant provider for an itemized explanation before assuming the platform made an error.
A payment option disappeared
Recheck location eligibility, account verification, service status, and the payment account’s name. Platforms can remove a rail for a particular state, country, account, or transaction without changing every user’s interface.
Practical checklist before sending money
- Confirm the platform and payment rail are available in your jurisdiction.
- Verify the account names match.
- Record the deposit minimum and the account-specific maximum.
- Read the exact fee shown before confirmation.
- Budget separately for contract-trading fees.
- Ask how long the payment method’s hold lasts, if a hold is disclosed.
- Keep enough cash outside the market for bills and emergencies while a withdrawal is pending.
- For a large transfer, confirm wire thresholds and bank requirements in writing before initiating it.
What to verify when policies change
Payment terms are especially sensitive to date and geography. Recheck the platform’s current fee schedule, transfer FAQ, and in-app limit immediately before a deposit or withdrawal. For Kalshi, the cited schedule is effective July 7, 2026, while the cross-platform comparison is dated October 12, 2026. Neither date guarantees that a later transaction will receive the same fee, rail, or processing time. If the current screen conflicts with an older article, follow the current account disclosure and retain a copy of it.
