Polygon Labs completed its Coinme acquisition on October 14, 2026, adding regulated U.S. money movement to its Open Money Stack payments platform. Polygon says the business now covers 48 states through a combination of licenses and exemptions, although the unified one-integration product was still in technical preview for selected customers at the announcement date.
What Polygon’s completed Coinme deal changes
The transaction moves Polygon beyond providing blockchain settlement alone. Coinme brings the regulated fiat infrastructure needed to move money into and out of digital-asset systems, plus wallets, custody, enterprise APIs and Crypto-as-a-Service capabilities. Coinme will remain a wholly owned Polygon subsidiary and continue operating its regulated exchange, wallet and enterprise platform.

How broad is the regulated U.S. coverage?
Polygon’s completion announcement says its U.S. payments business covers 48 states. That footprint consists of 37 state money-transmitter licenses and 11 applicable exemptions. The business is also registered with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) as a money-services business.

“Coverage across 48 states” describes the combined licensing and exemption footprint; it does not mean every product or transaction has identical permissions in every state. Money-transmitter obligations, exemptions and permitted activities can vary by state and by the service being provided. Businesses evaluating the stack still need a state-by-state legal and compliance review for their particular flow.

Tazapay CEO Rahul Shinghal said the platform gives customers a more direct route between stablecoins and local currency. The practical test for users of that route remains the same: how long a transfer takes and what it costs in a specific corridor.
Is the acquisition complete, and is Open Money Stack generally available?
Yes, the Coinme acquisition is complete as of October 14, 2026. Coinme continues as a wholly owned Polygon subsidiary, and its regulated exchange, wallet and Crypto-as-a-Service operations continue.

That closing should not be confused with broad availability of the unified Open Money Stack integration. Reporting on October 14 said the individual components were operating, while the combined integration remained in technical preview for selected customers. Polygon had therefore demonstrated active pieces and early customer deployments, but the cited information did not establish a general-availability date for every business.
What the deal means for businesses considering stablecoin payments
The acquisition gives Polygon a more complete regulated path from fiat entry to onchain settlement and payout. A company assessing it should examine the issues that determine whether an integration is usable in practice:
- Regulatory fit: Confirm which state license or exemption supports the exact service, customer type and funds flow.
- Corridor coverage: Check whether the required local currencies, banks, cards and payout partners are live where customers operate.
- Asset and chain support: Verify supported stablecoins, networks and cross-chain routing rules.
- Operational controls: Review custody, wallet permissions, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, reporting and dispute procedures.
- Availability: Establish whether the needed feature is generally available or still part of the technical preview.
- Economics: Price the complete route, including on-ramp, conversion, blockchain, banking and payout fees, rather than evaluating settlement in isolation.
In short, Coinme supplies regulated U.S. entry and exit points and an established retail and enterprise operating base. Open Money Stack is Polygon’s attempt to connect those capabilities with wallets, cross-chain routing and stablecoin settlement through one business integration. The transaction is finished, but the breadth and maturity of the single integrated product will depend on its rollout beyond the initial preview customers.
