Who can apply, and what information is required?
OnePay does not publish a universal minimum credit score or an income level that guarantees approval. Synchrony makes the credit decision after reviewing the information in your application and its own criteria. Treat approval as uncertain even if you meet the basic application requirements.
The application asks for identifying and financial information, including:
- Full name, mailing address and date of birth
- Phone number and email address
- Social Security number or ITIN
- Income information
Applications are available through Walmart.com, the Walmart app and select Walmart stores. Read the cardholder agreement and the current pricing and terms disclosure before submitting the application.
Will seeing if I pre-qualify impact my credit score?
OnePay says checking whether you pre-qualify uses a soft credit inquiry, which normally does not affect your score. Prequalification is not an approval and is not the same as completing the application.
When you submit the full application, OnePay says a hard credit check is performed and may affect your credit score. A hard inquiry can appear on your credit report, so avoid submitting multiple applications in a short period solely to compare offers.

How to apply without confusing prequalification with approval
- Start at an official application channel. Use Walmart.com, the Walmart app or a participating Walmart store.
- Review the prequalification result. Note whether the screen describes a possible CashRewards offer and read any displayed terms.
- Check the card outcome language. The issuer may approve CashRewards, approve the Walmart Spend Card instead, or decline the request.
- Read the live disclosures. Confirm the purchase APR, late-fee amount, rewards terms and welcome offer shown for your application.
- Submit only if the terms work for you. Submitting triggers the hard inquiry; the issuer then makes the final decision.
- Save the offer details. Keep a copy or screenshot of the bonus, spending window and eligibility conditions in case the promotional language changes later.
What fees and APR should you expect?
OnePay says neither the CashRewards Card nor the Walmart Spend Card has an annual fee. It also says there is no foreign transaction fee. A late fee may apply if the minimum payment is not received by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the due date; the exact fee is set by your cardholder agreement.
No annual fee does not make carrying a balance free. The purchase APR is variable and is determined from a fixed margin plus the Prime Rate during the application process. The rate in your current disclosure is the one that controls your account.

OnePay describes a standard grace policy: if you pay the full statement balance by the due date each month, it says you will not be charged interest on purchases. If you carry a balance, interest can easily exceed the value of the rewards, so calculate the cost using the APR in your own agreement.
Where can you use the CashRewards Card?
CashRewards is advertised for purchases at U.S. Walmart stores, Walmart.com and other merchants that accept Mastercard. Walmart purchases receive the elevated Walmart rate; non-Walmart Mastercard purchases receive the base rate unless a temporary promotion changes it.
The Walmart Spend Card is different. OnePay describes it as usable only at Walmart and Walmart.com and says it has no standard rewards structure, although limited-time offers may appear. It should not be evaluated as if it were the CashRewards product.

How do the advertised rewards work?

Rewards are issued as OnePay Points. To receive 5% at Walmart, link your Walmart+ account to CashRewards and use the card at checkout. If the membership is not linked or is not active when the transaction settles, the Walmart rate reverts to 3% under the agreement.
OnePay’s rewards help information also says the Walmart+ membership fee itself can earn 5% when CashRewards is set as the subscription’s default payment method. That treatment still depends on the membership being eligible and active under the current terms.
How do you redeem OnePay Points?
OnePay lists two redemption paths: cash back into a OnePay deposit account or a statement credit. Check the rewards interface and terms for any minimum redemption, timing or account-status requirements before requesting a payout. Points are not the same as a guaranteed cash payment until redeemed under those rules.
What is the current welcome bonus and spending offer?
The promotional language has not been consistent across official pages, so there is no single bonus amount that can safely be stated for every applicant.

Before applying, identify the exact spend requirement, qualifying purchase categories, deadline, approval requirement and good-standing requirement in the offer attached to your application. Do not combine the $35 and $75 displays or assume that a Walmart+ membership automatically qualifies you for the larger amount.

Because the issuer decides which product to approve, apply only if you would be comfortable with the Walmart-only card as a possible result. If you need a card for fuel, utilities, travel or other non-Walmart merchants, the Spend Card would not meet that requirement.
Is the card a good fit for your spending?
CashRewards is most compelling when you make substantial eligible Walmart purchases, can maintain an active linked Walmart+ membership for the 5% tier, and pay the statement balance in full. The 1.5% rate on other purchases is straightforward, but it may not justify opening a new account if your non-Walmart spending is limited or if another card already offers a higher rate in the categories you use.
Evaluate the card using your own numbers:
- Expected monthly Walmart and Walmart.com spending
- Whether your Walmart+ account can remain linked and active at settlement
- Non-Walmart spending during and after any 90-day promotional period
- The APR and late-fee terms in your applicant-specific disclosure
- Your ability to pay the full statement balance every month
- The exact welcome-bonus amount and deadline displayed in your application
Do not subtract a Walmart+ membership cost from your expected rewards without verifying the current membership price and your actual spending. The available card information establishes the reward condition, not a universal net benefit.
Common application and rewards pitfalls
Assuming prequalification guarantees approval
A soft-pull prequalification result is an indication, not a final decision. The hard-pull application can produce a different outcome, including the Walmart Spend Card or a decline.

Missing the Walmart+ linking condition
An active membership alone is not enough for 5%. Link the Walmart+ account to CashRewards and use CashRewards for the eligible transaction; the membership must still be active when the purchase settles.
Reading an old APR table as a live quote
APR tables carry document dates and can be superseded. Use the rate and margin in the disclosures generated for your application and account.
Counting on a bonus seen on another page
Official pages have displayed both $35 and $75 bonuses. Save the terms shown in your own application and meet every stated new-account, approval, spending and good-standing condition.

Rewards do not offset interest automatically. If you cannot pay in full, compare the interest cost at your variable APR with the points you expect to earn before using the card for extra spending.
