Is the Navy Federal Flagship Premier worth its $95 annual fee? It can be, if you are a Navy Federal member who will make at least $100 in eligible airline purchases each account year and regularly spend on travel and dining. The card earns 4 points per dollar on eligible travel, 3 points on dining and 1 point elsewhere, with no travel-booking portal required. Its value is weaker if you rarely fly, put most spending in everyday categories, or carry a balance at the card’s 15.74%-18.00% variable APR.
For applications submitted from September 10, 2026, through January 3, 2027, approved new accounts can earn 50,000 bonus points (Navy Federal states a $500 value) after $4,000 in eligible purchases during the first 90 days.

Flagship Premier is Navy Federal Credit Union’s travel-focused Visa Signature card. The current terms list a $95 annual fee, a 15.74%-18.00% variable purchase and balance-transfer APR, and no balance-transfer, foreign-transaction or cash-advance fees. Interest can still apply to cash advances and purchases under the account’s terms, so the card is best used by people who pay statements in full.
Points can be redeemed for cash, travel, gift cards and merchandise. Navy Federal states that rewards have no stated limit or expiration while the account remains open, subject to the program description.

How does Flagship Premier earn points?
The bonus categories are straightforward, but the payment network’s merchant code controls which rate you receive. A purchase that feels travel-related can earn only 1 point per dollar if the merchant is not coded as travel or a restaurant.
| Purchase category | Earning rate | Examples and limits |
|---|---|---|
| Eligible travel | 4 points per $1 | Hotels, cruises, vacation-home rentals, campgrounds and RV parks, airlines, car rentals, rideshare, parking, bridges, tolls, ferries and transit. |
| Dining | 3 points per $1 | Restaurant coding is required; a food purchase coded another way earns the applicable non-bonus rate. |
| All other eligible purchases | 1 point per $1 | Everyday purchases outside the travel and dining categories. |
Fees, interest, balance transfers, gambling, convenience checks, cash advances, cash-equivalent transactions, returns and credits do not earn points. Because coding determines the category, check the transaction detail if a purchase posts at 1 point per dollar unexpectedly.
What is the 2026 welcome bonus?
For applications from September 10, 2026, through January 3, 2027, a new account approved for the offer can earn 50,000 bonus points, which Navy Federal states are worth $500, after $4,000 in eligible purchases in the first 90 days. The spending window starts according to the issuer’s account-opening terms, not when you happen to receive or activate the physical card. Returns and excluded transactions do not help meet the requirement.

How does the $100 airline credit work?
Each account year, use the card for at least $100 in purchases coded as airlines or air carriers and Navy Federal provides a $100 statement credit. One purchase or several can reach the threshold. Charter and private-jet flights do not qualify.
- The credit renews on the account anniversary, not automatically on January 1.
- Unused credit does not roll over.
- Posting can take six to eight weeks.
- A cancellation or return can reverse a previously issued credit.
The fee therefore is not automatically offset. To recover the full $95 annual fee, you must both use qualifying airline purchases and wait for the credit to post; spending $100 solely to chase a credit is not a saving if you would not otherwise buy the ticket.
Does the card include Global Entry, TSA PreCheck and international data?
Flagship Premier includes up to $120 in statement credits for an eligible Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee once per card number every four years. The credit appears after the application fee posts and can take six to eight weeks.

The card also includes a complimentary 3GB global mobile-data plan through GigSky. It is valid for up to 15 days after activation when Flagship Premier is set as the default payment method in the GigSky app. The allowance is a limited travel benefit, not an ongoing replacement for a mobile carrier plan.
Who is eligible, and what military protections apply?
You must become a Navy Federal member before applying for Flagship Premier. Membership includes the following groups under Navy Federal’s eligibility rules:
- Active-duty servicemembers in every branch, delayed-entry participants, reservists, veterans, retirees and annuitants.
- Department of Defense officer-candidate and ROTC participants.
- Eligible immediate family and household members.
- Qualifying Department of Defense civilian employees, installation-assigned government employees, contractors, retirees and annuitants.
The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) covers qualifying debt opened before the start of Active Duty. Federal law caps interest on covered pre-service debt at 6%; Navy Federal says it voluntarily lowers that cap to 4% and waives account fees. Debt incurred after Active Duty begins is not covered by the SCRA interest cap. Request relief no later than 180 days after Active Duty ends and provide service documentation if Navy Federal requests it.

How does Premier compare with the legacy Flagship Rewards card?
Premier shifts value toward travel and dining. It raises those earning rates but lowers the rate on unbonused purchases, so the better card depends on your spending mix.

| Annual fee shown by Navy Federal | $95 effective November 2, 2026, in the comparison | $95 |
| Booking portal requirement | The comparison page does not state one | No portal required for bonus earning |
Someone whose spending is concentrated in flights, hotels and restaurants benefits from Premier’s 4X and 3X rates. Someone with mostly non-bonus spending may earn fewer points than under the legacy card’s 2X everyday rate, even before considering the different statement credits.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is Flagship Premier worth the $95 fee?
Use this decision test before applying:
- Airline use: Can you reliably make at least $100 in airline-coded purchases during every account year? If not, the annual credit will not fully offset the fee.
- Travel and dining spend: Will your 4X travel and 3X dining earnings exceed what you would receive from a 2X-everywhere card?
- Travel services: Will you use the four-year Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit or the short GigSky data plan?
- Membership and military timing: Do you qualify for Navy Federal membership, and do you have pre-Active-Duty debt that could receive the 4% voluntary cap?
- Interest cost: Can you pay in full rather than carry balances at the variable APR? Interest can outweigh rewards quickly.
Premier is most compelling for an eligible member who travels often, dines out, can use the airline credit naturally and pays on time. It is less attractive for a low-travel household, for someone who values high everyday-category earnings, or for anyone likely to carry a balance.

What should applicants check before submitting?
- Confirm Navy Federal membership eligibility and complete membership first.
- Read the current offer terms to verify the application date, 90-day spending period and which purchases count.
- Plan qualifying airline purchases within the account year and allow six to eight weeks for the credit.
- Review merchant coding after travel or dining transactions so errors can be raised promptly.
- Keep records of Active-Duty dates and service documents if requesting SCRA relief.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do purchases by an authorized user count toward the airline credit?
Yes. Authorized-user airline purchases can help the account reach the $100 airline-coded threshold, but Navy Federal issues the statement credit only to the primary cardholder’s account. A returned or canceled purchase can reverse the credit.
When will a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit appear?
The credit is applied after the eligible application fee posts to the card. Navy Federal says processing can take six to eight weeks, so it may not appear on the statement immediately after enrollment.

Only if the payment network identifies the merchant with a qualifying restaurant code. An airport location or travel context alone does not guarantee the dining rate; coding can result in the 1-point-per-dollar base rate.
Does SCRA protection cover a balance created after I report for Active Duty?
No. The SCRA interest cap applies to qualifying debt opened before Active Duty begins. Navy Federal’s voluntary 4% cap and fee waiver are described for that pre-Active-Duty debt, with a request due no later than 180 days after Active Duty ends.
