Moneta Markets Review: Scam or Legit?

Moneta Markets is a real CFD broker, but its protections depend on the legal entity serving you. Here is what its regulation, withdrawal rules and warnings really show.

Moneta Markets is a real, operating CFD and forex broker, not a proven fake broker. But the answer changes depending on the legal entity that opens your account. Moneta Markets operates through several companies, including regulated entities in the UK, South Africa and Mauritius, alongside offshore or ordinary registered companies with materially different protections.

That makes the key question less “Is Moneta Markets regulated?” and more: Which Moneta Markets company will be your counterparty, and what regulator supervises it?

Moneta Markets at a glance

Question Answer
Is Moneta Markets a real broker? Yes. The brand is linked to identifiable operating companies and regulated financial-services entities.
Is it regulated by the FCA? Moneta Markets Capital Ltd is FCA-authorised for UK clients under FRN 613381. That authorisation does not apply to every Moneta Markets entity or customer.
Is it available in the US? No. Moneta’s website excludes US residents. Canada, Cyprus, France, Spain, Russia, Ukraine and Italy are also among the restricted jurisdictions listed by the company.
Is it a safe investment platform? No CFD broker is risk-free. Protection depends on the entity, jurisdiction, account agreement and applicable compensation or dispute-resolution rules.
Has a regulator warned about it? Brazil’s CVM issued a 2024 warning concerning solicitation of Brazilian residents by named Moneta entities without CVM authorisation.

Bottom line: Moneta Markets appears legitimate as an operating broker, but it is a jurisdiction-dependent, high-risk CFD provider rather than a uniformly regulated global platform.

Who owns and regulates Moneta Markets?

Entity Jurisdiction Regulatory or registration disclosure
Moneta Markets Capital Ltd United Kingdom FCA-authorised under FRN 613381. Companies House number 08279988; listed as active.
Moneta Markets (Pty) Ltd South Africa Listed by Moneta as an FSCA-authorised financial-services provider under FSP 47490. Company number 2016/063801/07.
Moneta Markets Trading Limited Mauritius Listed as regulated by the Mauritius Financial Services Commission, with company number 211285 GBC and licence number GB24203391.
Moneta Markets Ltd Saint Lucia / Seychelles disclosure Moneta identifies a Saint Lucia registration number, 2023-00068. The Seychelles FSA also lists Moneta Markets Ltd as a capital-markets entity.
Mmonexia Ltd Cyprus Identified as a payment-services facilitator, company number HE436544—not the broker’s primary trading regulator.
Moneta Markets Limited Hong Kong disclosure Business-registration number 72493069 and a Hong Kong address are listed. Moneta’s disclosure does not describe this entity as SFC-authorised.

These details come from Moneta Markets’ legal documentation. Before opening an account, check the customer agreement and account-opening screen for the precise entity named there.

Registration is not the same as regulation

A company-registration number shows that a business entity exists. It does not automatically authorise that entity to provide forex, CFD or investment services. This distinction is especially important for offshore companies and payment facilitators.

A broker may have a registered company in one country, a trading licence in another and a payment company elsewhere. Those facts should not be combined into one blanket claim that every customer receives the strongest available regulatory protection.

What the FCA authorisation actually means

It is accurate to say that Moneta Markets Capital Ltd is FCA-authorised under FRN 613381 for UK clients. It is not accurate to say that all Moneta Markets customers trade with an FCA-regulated company.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Moneta’s own legal page says its other group entities are not authorised or regulated by the FCA and do not serve UK residents. The FCA has also published a warning about Yinforex Capital Ltd, a clone firm that used the genuine authorised firm’s details.

The FCA warning is not a finding that Moneta Markets Capital Ltd is a scam. It is a warning about impersonation. Nevertheless, it shows why customers should verify all of the following before sending money:

  1. The exact legal name in the account agreement.
  2. The regulator and licence number.
  3. The website domain, email address and payment recipient.
  4. Whether the regulator’s register links to the website you are using.

Brazilian CVM warning: what it does and does not prove

On June 5, 2024, Brazil’s securities regulator, the Comissão de Valores Mobiliários (CVM), warned about Moneta Markets South Africa (PYT) LTD and Moneta Markets Limited.

The CVM said it found indications that the companies were using monetamarkets.com to solicit Brazilian residents for securities-intermediation services without CVM authorisation. It ordered the immediate suspension of direct or indirect public offers of those services in Brazil.

The warning is important, but it needs to be described precisely:

  • It concerns solicitation in Brazil by named entities.
  • Foreign regulation does not automatically authorise a broker to solicit Brazilian residents.
  • The CVM described the action as a precautionary measure, not a final disciplinary penalty.
  • It does not establish that every Moneta entity is fraudulent worldwide.

You can read the CVM announcement for the regulator’s wording.

Can you withdraw money from Moneta Markets?

Moneta’s current help centre provides a standard withdrawal process through the client portal:

  1. Log in to the Client Portal.
  2. Go to Funds.
  3. Select Withdraw Funds.
  4. Choose the trading account.
  5. Enter the amount and select the withdrawal method.
  6. Click Continue and follow the instructions.

In the Moneta Markets AppTrader app, the route is:

  1. Log in and open Profile.
  2. Select Withdraw.
  3. If necessary, tap the account selector symbol, ⇌.
  4. Enter the amount and select the method.
  5. Tap Submit.

Moneta states that most withdrawals take one to three business days. Credit or debit-card withdrawals and international bank transfers may take one to five business days. These are the broker’s processing estimates, not a guarantee that the money will be credited by that date. The client agreement says Moneta is not responsible for delays after payment instructions are issued or for delays caused by the beneficiary bank.

Reasons a withdrawal may be rejected or delayed

A delayed withdrawal is not automatically evidence of fraud. Moneta’s help centre and client agreement list several possible restrictions:

Issue What it can mean
Credit-card deposit The deposited amount generally has to be returned to the original card before another withdrawal method can be used.
Third-party payment details Withdrawals to an account that does not match the trading-account holder’s details are not allowed.
Insufficient free balance The requested withdrawal may exceed the amount available after margin and other account requirements.
Open positions The withdrawal could increase the risk of positions reaching stop-out.
Minimum withdrawal Moneta currently states a minimum of 40 units of the account currency, although individual methods may have different minimums.
Credit bonus A proportional bonus deduction may apply when money is withdrawn from an account with a credit bonus.
Recent security changes Changing a password can disable withdrawals for 24 hours. Changing the login email or phone number, or reconnecting a two-factor-authentication device, can disable them for 48 hours.
Compliance or trading review The agreement allows Moneta to delay, decline or reverse transactions in certain suspected financial-crime, suspicious-trading or contract-breach situations.
Margin obligations The broker may withhold some or all of a withdrawal if funds are needed to meet margin requirements.

Moneta may also request documents to verify that the funding method belongs to the client. These policies can explain some legitimate delays, but they do not prove that every disputed rejection is justified. If a withdrawal is challenged, keep the request number, account statements, payment records and all correspondence.

What customer complaints show

Trustpilot’s current Moneta Markets listing shows a 3.9 out of 5 score from 543 reviews, with 15% one-star reviews displayed. The reviews include both customers reporting fast withdrawals and responsive support, and customers alleging months-long delays, blocked withdrawals, poor support or account reviews.

Review-platform posts are individual accounts, not regulator-confirmed findings. They should not be treated as proof that Moneta systematically steals client money. They do, however, identify the practical disputes a prospective customer should understand:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Withdrawals remaining pending or under review.
  2. Requests for identity, payment-method or source-of-funds documents.
  3. Withdrawal blocks after password, email, phone or two-factor-authentication changes.
  4. Card-deposit repayment rules limiting the available withdrawal route.
  5. Disputes over prohibited or allegedly suspicious trading activity.
  6. Slow customer-service responses during a withdrawal or trade dispute.

Are client funds fully protected?

No. “Segregated funds” should not be interpreted as an unconditional guarantee.

Moneta’s March 2026 client agreement says client money may be held in segregated accounts where required by law. It also says that, where legally permitted:

  • segregated funds may be co-mingled with other clients’ money;
  • segregation does not fully protect a client from loss;
  • funds may be used for certain counterparty-related purposes for wholesale clients; and
  • a client’s balance may not be protected if a counterparty or the overall segregated account defaults.

Segregation is primarily a custody and insolvency safeguard. It is not protection against trading losses, every operational failure, counterparty default or an adverse decision in a contractual dispute. The level of protection also depends on the legal entity and local law.

Who should be cautious?

Moneta Markets deserves particular caution from anyone who:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • assumes the FCA licence applies outside the UK;
  • does not know which entity will hold the account;
  • needs investor-compensation or formal regulatory protections and cannot confirm eligibility;
  • is offered a bonus without reading its withdrawal conditions;
  • plans to use borrowed money or money needed for living expenses; or
  • lives in a restricted country and is being encouraged to open an account anyway.

CFDs are leveraged derivatives. A small market move can produce a large loss relative to the deposit, and a stop-out can close positions before a trader has time to respond. Even a legitimate broker can therefore be an unsuitable product for a cautious long-term investor.

How to check Moneta Markets before depositing

  1. Identify the entity. Find the legal name in the account-opening documents, not just the brand name on the website.
  2. Check the regulator independently. Search the regulator’s official register using the licence number and compare the listed website and contact details.
  3. Read the withdrawal section. Pay attention to card repayment, minimum amounts, bonus deductions, security lockouts and margin requirements.
  4. Verify the payment recipient. Do not send money to a personal bank account or a company name that does not match the broker’s documented payment arrangements.
  5. Test the process with a small amount. A small deposit and withdrawal cannot eliminate risk, but it can reveal identity, payment and support problems before a larger balance is exposed.
  6. Save evidence. Keep the agreement, deposit receipt, trade records, withdrawal confirmation and support messages.

Claims about Moneta Markets that need correction

“Moneta Markets is FCA-regulated everywhere.”

Incorrect. The FCA authorisation belongs to Moneta Markets Capital Ltd and applies to its UK business. Other Moneta entities are not FCA-authorised.

“The Saint Lucia registration is a financial-services licence.”

Incorrect. Moneta identifies Moneta Markets Ltd through a Saint Lucia company registration. Company registration is not the same as a securities or derivatives licence.

“The Brazilian warning proves Moneta is a global scam.”

Unsupported. The CVM action concerns alleged unauthorised solicitation in Brazil by named entities and was described as precautionary, not as a final worldwide fraud finding.

“Every withdrawal arrives within one to three days.”

Too broad. Moneta says most withdrawals take one to three business days, while card and international-bank-transfer withdrawals may take one to five business days. Bank-side delays may take longer.

“A rejected withdrawal automatically proves a scam.”

Unsupported. Security lockouts, insufficient free balance, open-position risk, third-party payment details, margin obligations and compliance reviews can all affect withdrawals. The facts of the individual case matter.

FAQ

Is Moneta Markets a scam?

The verified evidence does not establish that Moneta Markets is a global scam. It is an operating CFD and forex brokerage brand connected to identifiable companies, including regulated entities. However, it is not uniformly regulated, and customer protection depends on the entity assigned to the account.

Is Moneta Markets FCA-regulated?

Moneta Markets Capital Ltd is FCA-authorised under FRN 613381 for UK clients. That authorisation does not extend to all Moneta Markets entities or customers outside that relationship.

Can US residents use Moneta Markets?

No. Moneta Markets’ website expressly excludes US residents. The company also lists several other restricted jurisdictions, including Canada, Cyprus, France, Spain, Russia, Ukraine and Italy.

How long do Moneta Markets withdrawals take?

Moneta states that most withdrawals take one to three business days. Credit or debit-card withdrawals and international bank transfers may take one to five business days. The receiving bank can add further delay.

Why might Moneta Markets reject a withdrawal?

Possible reasons include insufficient free balance, an open-position stop-out risk, third-party payment details, credit-card repayment rules, a recent password or contact-detail change, margin requirements, bonus conditions or a compliance review.

Are funds at Moneta Markets completely protected?

No. Moneta’s client agreement discusses segregation where required by law but also says segregation may involve co-mingling and does not fully protect clients from all losses, counterparty defaults or other risks.

The Bottom Line

Moneta Markets is best described as a legitimate but jurisdiction-dependent, high-risk CFD broker—not a proven scam and not a uniformly protected global platform. The strongest evidence in its favour is the existence of identifiable companies and regulated entities, including an FCA-authorised UK entity. The main risks are the use of multiple legal entities, offshore arrangements, broad contractual withdrawal and compliance powers, and the 2024 Brazilian CVM warning about unauthorised solicitation.

If you are considering an account, verify the exact contracting company, regulator and licence number before depositing. Read the withdrawal rules, avoid relying on the FCA label unless you are actually served by the UK entity, and never deposit money you cannot afford to lose.
