Short answer: Marvel Unlimited is still Marvel’s active digital-comics subscription, but Marvel says it will sunset on December 7, 2026. A replacement, Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON, is announced for November 16, 2026. The replacement is not the same product as the existing WEBTOON comics app: it will offer Marvel-focused subscription tiers, while the existing app combines free serialized episodes with optional Coin unlocks.

For a Marvel archive reader, the key questions are release delay, annual cost, offline reading, and what account data can move to the new service. For someone who mainly reads WEBTOON-style series, the important distinction is between vertical, episode-based reading and a full-library Marvel subscription. The new service’s prices and features below are announcements made before launch, not results from a hands-on test.

What is changing, and when?

Marvel Unlimited is the current Marvel subscription. Marvel’s October 7, 2026 help information says the service will sunset on December 7, 2026. WEBTOON Entertainment announced on October 5, 2026 that it will operate a replacement called Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON, scheduled to launch on November 16, 2026.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

That creates a short overlap: the announced replacement is expected to launch about three weeks before Marvel Unlimited ends. Availability, checkout behavior, and the final operating details should be checked on the official services at the time you subscribe.

Product Status on October 13, 2026 What it is
Marvel Unlimited Current service; sunset announced for December 7, 2026 Marvel’s existing digital-comics subscription, with an archive, newer issues, reading guides, and mobile downloads
Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON Announced for November 16, 2026; not yet launched at the research date New Marvel-focused subscription service operated by WEBTOON, with Base and Ultimate tiers
WEBTOON’s existing English-language app Operating separately Serialized vertical-scroll comics, free episodes, and optional Coin unlocks; a 2025 partnership added selected Disney, Marvel, 20th Century Studios, and Star Wars titles

The names are easy to confuse. Reading a Marvel title in the existing WEBTOON app does not automatically mean you have access to the announced replacement’s subscription library, and the new Marvel service should not be described as simply “WEBTOON with Marvel added.”

Plans and prices compared

Marvel Unlimited’s current page lists three U.S. options. Prices are subject to change and may have tax added where applicable. The new Marvel Comics service has announced prices, but those terms were not verified in live checkout before launch.

Service and tier Monthly price Annual price New-issue timing stated by the service Status
Marvel Unlimited Monthly $9.99/month Not applicable As soon as three months after print release Current listed offering
Marvel Unlimited Annual Not applicable $69/year As soon as three months after print release Current listed offering
Marvel Unlimited Annual Plus Not applicable $99/year The current page lists access to newer issues; verify the live plan description for exact release terms Current listed offering
Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON Base $9.99/month $69.99/year As soon as three months after print release Announced; pre-launch terms
Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON Ultimate $12.49/month $99.99/year As soon as one month after print release Announced; pre-launch terms
Ultimate founding offer Not stated as a monthly option $59.99 plus tax for the first year; later auto-renews at $99.99 plus tax per year As soon as one month after print release Limited first-year offer announced before launch

The closest price comparisons are Marvel Unlimited Monthly versus Base at $9.99, and Marvel Unlimited’s $99 Annual Plus versus Ultimate at $99.99. Those similar prices do not make the tiers equivalent. Ultimate’s announced selling point is access to issues as soon as one month after print, while Base retains the three-month window. Billing term, tax, promotional eligibility, and the value of earlier access all affect the real cost.

What annual billing saves

Using the listed prices before tax, paying for twelve monthly months would cost $119.88 for a $9.99 plan. The $69 Marvel Unlimited Annual price is therefore $50.88 less than twelve monthly payments. Base at $69.99 is $49.89 less than twelve $9.99 payments. Ultimate at $99.99 is $49.89 less than twelve $12.49 payments. These are simple comparisons of the published amounts, not guarantees that a plan will remain available for a full year or that a refund policy will allow cancellation after renewal.

The $59.99 Ultimate founding offer, if available to you, is a first-year promotional price. The announced renewal is $99.99 plus tax per year, so a subscriber should record the renewal date and the post-promotion amount rather than treating $59.99 as the ongoing cost.

How soon do new comics arrive?

Release delay is the clearest functional difference between the announced tiers. “As soon as” describes the earliest stated availability; it does not promise that every issue will appear on that exact day. Print scheduling, regional availability, rights, and platform processing can affect individual titles.

Option Earliest release window stated Practical implication
Marvel Unlimited current offering As soon as three months after print release Best suited to readers comfortable waiting roughly a quarter for many new issues
Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON Base As soon as three months after print release Matches the announced delay of the current Marvel offering
Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON Ultimate As soon as one month after print release Costs more, but narrows the wait for readers who follow current storylines closely

If you buy print issues as they release and use digital for back issues, the three-month window may be adequate. If digital is your primary way to follow ongoing series and a month matters, Ultimate is the only announced tier with the shorter delay. No neutral testing establishes whether every title will meet either window.

Catalog size and what you can read

Marvel Unlimited’s archive

Marvel’s current subscription page says Marvel Unlimited provides access to more than 30,000 comics. It describes classic and newer Marvel titles, weekly additions, curated reading guides, and mobile access. The figure is a publisher-provided count from the current page, not an independent audit, and the page does not explain whether every format or edition is counted identically.

The announced Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON library

WEBTOON Entertainment’s October 5 announcement says the new service will launch with more than 35,000 digital comics from Marvel, Star Wars, and 20th Century Studios. That is a broader set of brands than a Marvel-only archive, but it is also a different product and counting method. The two numbers should not be treated as a like-for-like measurement of which library is larger.

The announcement describes both current and archived comics. It does not establish that every Marvel Unlimited title will be present on day one, nor does it provide a title-by-title equivalency list. Readers with a specific run, creator, or issue should search the live catalog before changing subscriptions.

The existing WEBTOON app’s Marvel collaboration

A separate August 2025 partnership announcement said around 100 comics from Disney, Marvel, 20th Century Studios, and Star Wars would appear in a dedicated section of WEBTOON’s English-language app. Examples listed included Amazing Spider-Man (2022–present), Avengers (2012), Star Wars (2015), Alien (2021), and Disney As Old As Time: A Twisted Tale.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

That “around 100” figure refers to the collaboration’s selected titles, not to all comics on WEBTOON and not to the more than 35,000 comics announced for the new Marvel subscription. Selected episodes can be free, while later episodes may require Coins.

Reading formats and app features

Page-based reading and vertical formats

Marvel Unlimited is built around conventional comic pages and also includes vertical-format Infinity Comics. Its current description covers access through the website and mobile app, so it can suit readers who switch between a larger screen and a phone or tablet. The page also says supported iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Android devices can download comics for offline reading.

The announced Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON service is designed to support both traditional page-based comics and vertical-scroll formats. That dual approach matters if your library mixes standard monthly issues with stories designed for a phone screen. Because the app had not launched at the research date, the announcement does not establish how consistently the two modes perform, how downloads work, or which devices receive every feature.

Discovery tools in the announced service

WEBTOON says the new Marvel app will include a cover-scroll browser, recommendations informed by reading history and interests, character and creator pages, upcoming-release information, and a Pull List for issues connected to followed series, characters, and creators. Smart panel mode is intended to enlarge individual panels for mobile reading.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

These are announced capabilities rather than independently tested results. They suggest a service aimed at helping readers browse a large shared-brand library, not merely opening a file one issue at a time. The usefulness of recommendations, the accuracy of the Pull List, and the readability of smart panels can only be judged after launch.

How the existing WEBTOON app works

WEBTOON’s established platform centers on serialized, mobile-first vertical scrolling. Its Coin help information describes Coins as in-app currency for unlocking Fast Pass and Daily Pass episodes; the number of Coins varies by series.

  • Daily Pass: eligible series can provide one free episode per day, and that unlocked episode remains available for 14 days.
  • Fast Pass: Coins can unlock episodes ahead of the free schedule when a series offers that option.
  • Paid unlocks: Coin-unlocked episodes remain available while the series remains on WEBTOON.

The announcement for the new Marvel subscription does not say that Base or Ultimate uses this Coin system. Do not assume that subscribing to the new Marvel app will work like buying individual WEBTOON episode unlocks.

Which access model fits your reading?

If your priority is… Most relevant option Why
Reading a large Marvel back catalog for one recurring fee Marvel Unlimited while it remains active, then the new Marvel service after launch Both are subscription-oriented libraries rather than episode-by-episode Coin purchases
Following new Marvel issues with the shortest announced delay Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON Ultimate The announced window is as soon as one month after print, versus three months for Base and the current Marvel offering
Keeping the lowest announced subscription price Marvel Unlimited Annual or new-service Base annual billing The listed annual amounts are $69 and $69.99 before tax, but service availability and final checkout terms differ
Reading serialized vertical-scroll series beyond Marvel WEBTOON’s existing app Its core model is episode-based vertical reading with free episodes and optional Coin unlocks
Using offline downloads Marvel Unlimited’s current mobile offering Offline downloads are explicitly described for supported Apple and Android devices; the new service’s offline behavior was not yet established
Browsing by characters, creators, and upcoming issues Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON, if the announced tools launch as described Those discovery and Pull List features are part of the announcement, not a tested result

Will your Marvel Unlimited data transfer?

The announced transition FAQ says existing subscribers will need to create a new account for Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON. During signup, the service is expected to let users import their library, follows, and reading history. It also says purchases and redemptions can be imported.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Bookmarks and lists will not transfer. If you use those features as a personal reading queue, export or record the information yourself before the old service closes. The announcement does not promise that every saved state, note, or custom organization will move.

Because the replacement was not live on October 13, 2026, the exact signup screens and import timing were not verified. Marvel’s transition information says further details would be shared as launch approached. For cancellation, billing disputes, refunds, or a failed import, use the current official support channel rather than relying on an unofficial workaround.

A practical transition plan for current subscribers

  1. Record what matters. Make a list of bookmarks, custom lists, and any series you cannot easily find again. Those items are specifically excluded from the announced transfer.
  2. Check your billing date. Annual and monthly renewals can fall near the November 16 launch and December 7 sunset. Review the account page and the applicable cancellation terms before a renewal posts.
  3. Keep your account details consistent. The new service requires a new account, so use an email address you control and retain purchase or redemption records that may be needed during import.
  4. Sign up when the replacement opens. The announced signup flow is where library, follows, reading history, purchases, and redemptions can be imported.
  5. Verify the import. Check representative series, a recent reading position, and any purchased or redeemed content. Report missing data through official support before assuming it is permanently lost.
  6. Decide on Base or Ultimate. Choose based on the three-month versus one-month release window and the full annual cost, including tax and any renewal price.

Do not cancel solely because the replacement was announced, and do not assume that an existing WEBTOON account automatically contains your Marvel Unlimited history. The transition information describes a new-account process.

Costs to include in a personal budget

Subscription price is only one part of the decision. A realistic budget should account for billing frequency, tax, promotional expiry, and whether you will continue buying print issues while waiting for digital availability.

Plan calculation Published amount before tax Difference from twelve monthly payments Budget caution
Marvel Unlimited Monthly for 12 months $119.88 Baseline Assumes the $9.99 monthly price remains unchanged for all twelve payments
Marvel Unlimited Annual $69 $50.88 less than that baseline Current listed price; taxes may apply
Base monthly for 12 months $119.88 Baseline Announced price, not a live checkout verification
Base annual $69.99 $49.89 less than that baseline Announced price; tax and final terms may vary
Ultimate monthly for 12 months $149.88 Baseline Announced price; earlier access is the reason to pay more
Ultimate annual $99.99 $49.89 less than that baseline Announced renewal amount may apply after any promotion
Ultimate founding year $59.99 plus tax Promotional comparison only Limited first-year offer; announced auto-renewal is $99.99 plus tax per year

Annual billing is financially attractive only if you expect to use the service through the paid period and accept the renewal terms. A monthly plan costs more over a full year at the listed rates but gives more flexibility if your reading habits change during the transition.

Important limitations before you switch

  • Launch status: the replacement was announced, not live, at the October 13, 2026 research date.
  • Counts are not audits: “more than 30,000” and “more than 35,000” come from different companies and may count editions or formats differently.
  • Release windows are earliest statements: a one-month or three-month promise does not mean every issue appears on a uniform day.
  • Feature descriptions are not test results: smart panels, recommendations, Pull Lists, downloads, and vertical reading on the new app still require real-world verification after launch.
  • Migration is partial: the announced import covers library, follows, reading history, purchases, and redemptions; bookmarks and lists are excluded.
  • Coin rules are separate: the existing WEBTOON app’s Fast Pass, Daily Pass, and Coin mechanics are not established as part of the new Marvel subscription tiers.

Which service should you choose?

Choose Marvel Unlimited’s current annual plan if you want the existing Marvel archive and offline mobile downloads and will use it before the December 7 sunset, but understand that it is a transitional purchase. Choose the announced Base tier if the replacement launches as described and a three-month release delay is acceptable. Choose Ultimate if getting current issues roughly two months earlier is worth the higher ongoing price and the announced one-month window is important to you.

Choose the existing WEBTOON app when your priority is serialized, vertical-scroll reading with free episodes and optional Coin unlocks across its broader creator ecosystem. It is not a substitute for a full Marvel subscription library. For most Marvel Unlimited subscribers, the most consequential action is preserving bookmarks and lists, watching the account-migration instructions, and comparing the final checkout terms immediately after the new service becomes available.
