Download LINE for PC from LINE’s official website, choose the Windows or Mac installer that matches your computer, install it, and sign in with the LINE account already set up on your main device. You can approve the login with a QR code, use registered biometric authentication when offered, or enter the account’s registered email address and password. A first login—or a login after reinstalling—may also require a short verification step.
Before starting, confirm your operating system meets LINE’s current requirements and keep your main device available for approval. The steps below cover compatibility, installation, every supported sign-in route, the three-minute verification-code window, browser use, common failures, and logging out on a shared computer.

What you need before downloading
LINE for PC is a companion to an existing LINE account, not a tool for creating one. Set up the account on your main device first, then use that same account on the computer. LINE’s Help Center explicitly states that you cannot create a new LINE account from LINE for PC (LINE Help Center: downloading, logging in, and logging out on a PC).
- A Windows PC, Mac, or supported Chrome browser.
- An existing LINE account on your main device.
- Access to that main device during sign-in, because QR approval, biometric authentication, and first-login verification can require it.
- A stable internet connection for downloading, signing in, and authorizing the computer.
Keep the main device unlocked and signed in to LINE while you work. If you rely on email-and-password login, make sure the email address is actually registered to the LINE account; an address that was never added to the account cannot be used for this route.

Check the current compatibility requirements
LINE’s requirements page, recorded here as current on October 13, 2026, lists the following minimum versions. Requirements can change, so check the official LINE system-requirements page immediately before installing.
| Use path | Published requirement | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Windows desktop app | Windows 10 version 1607 or later, 64-bit/x64 | A 32-bit Windows installation or an earlier Windows 10 release does not meet the listed requirement for the latest version. |
| Mac desktop app | macOS Sonoma 14 or later | The current Mac installer is intended for Sonoma 14 and newer according to the listed requirement. |
| Chrome option | Chrome version 94 or later | This is the browser-version requirement listed for LINE’s Chrome option; confirm current support information before relying on browser use. |
Older operating systems may appear on LINE’s support information as compatible only with older LINE releases. An older release may not include current features, so do not assume that an installer designed for a previous system will behave like the latest version. If your computer falls below the versions in the table, consult LINE’s requirements page rather than downloading random older installers from a third-party mirror.
Choose the desktop app or the Chrome option
You have two practical ways to use LINE on a computer. The desktop app is installed on Windows or macOS. The Chrome option runs through a supported Chrome browser. LINE’s published pages explain how to download and sign in, but they do not establish that both options have identical features. Choose based on your operating system, whether you want an installed application, and the support requirements that apply to your computer.
| Question | Desktop app | Chrome option |
|---|---|---|
| Does it install on the computer? | Yes; use the Windows or Mac installer that matches the operating system. | No traditional desktop installation; use the supported Chrome version. |
| Which requirement matters? | Windows 10 version 1607 or later (64-bit/x64), or macOS Sonoma 14 or later. | Chrome 94 or later, subject to LINE’s current support information. |
| When is it practical? | When you want a native app and your operating system meets the desktop requirement. | When browser use suits your workflow and the current Chrome support status covers your setup. |
| Are capabilities guaranteed to match? | Not established by LINE’s setup and requirements pages; check current support information for the option you intend to use. | |
Download the authentic LINE installer
- Identify whether the computer runs Windows or macOS and confirm the version against the compatibility table.
- Open LINE’s official download route through the LINE Help Center setup guide, then select the Windows or Mac version that matches the computer.
- Save the installer and wait for the download to finish. Do not substitute a file from a download mirror, an unofficial software catalog, or a link sent by someone else; the official guide directs users to LINE’s own site.
- Open the downloaded installer. Windows and macOS can present different prompts, so follow the prompts shown by your operating system rather than expecting a universal sequence of dialog boxes.
- When installation completes, launch LINE for PC and continue to the sign-in screen.
The Help Center documents the official download route but does not specify one identical series of installer dialogs for every Windows and Mac release. A prompt that looks different from a screenshot made on another computer is not, by itself, a problem; confirm that the installer came from LINE and that your operating system meets the published requirement.

Install on Windows
1. Confirm the 64-bit requirement
The current Windows requirement is Windows 10 version 1607 or later on a 64-bit/x64 installation. Check the Windows edition and system type in the computer’s built-in system-information area before opening the installer. If the system is 32-bit or below the listed Windows version, stop and review LINE’s requirements page for any supported alternative instead of forcing the current installer.
2. Run the downloaded file
Open the Windows installer obtained from LINE’s official route and follow the prompts Windows displays. The exact wording and order can vary by Windows release. When setup finishes, open LINE from the installed application and wait for the login choices to appear.
3. Keep the main device nearby
Windows installation does not replace the account on your phone or other main device. You will still authorize the PC with the existing LINE account, so keep that device available before selecting a login method.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsInstall on Mac
1. Confirm macOS Sonoma 14 or later
LINE lists macOS Sonoma 14 or later for the current Mac desktop version. Check the Mac’s macOS version before downloading. If it is older, consult LINE’s requirements page for the release that applies to that system; do not infer that an older installer has the same feature set as the current one.

2. Open the official Mac installer
Download the Mac version through LINE’s official guide, open the installer, and complete the prompts macOS presents. Dialog names and the order of the prompts can differ between macOS releases. After installation, launch LINE and select a sign-in method.
3. Leave LINE open on the main device
The Mac app uses the account already registered on your main device. Having that device ready avoids stopping halfway through QR approval or a verification request.
Sign in to LINE for PC
The official Help Center lists three sign-in methods. The available choices can depend on what is registered on the account and what LINE offers on that login screen.
| Method | What you need | Approval on the main device |
|---|---|---|
| QR code | The LINE app on the main device and the QR code shown by LINE for PC. | Scan the code, then tap Log in to approve. |
| Biometric information | Face or fingerprint authentication registered on the main device, with the option offered during sign-in. | Authenticate using the offered biometric prompt; no PC password entry is required for this route. |
| Registered email and password | The email address and password registered to the LINE account. | No QR scan is needed, but the account must have a registered email and a usable password. |
QR-code login
- Open LINE for PC until the login QR code appears.
- On the main device, open LINE’s QR-code reader.
- Scan the QR code displayed on the computer.
- When the approval prompt appears on the main device, tap Log in.
- Wait for the PC app to finish signing in.
A QR code can expire while you are switching between devices. If that happens, select the regenerate or refresh icon on the PC login screen, scan the replacement code, and approve it on the main device. Scanning an expired image again will not authorize the session.
Rank #4
Biometric login
If LINE offers biometric login and your main device has registered face or fingerprint authentication, choose that option and complete the device’s biometric prompt. This route avoids typing the account email address and password into the PC app. If the biometric choice is not displayed, use QR login or the registered email-and-password route instead; the Help Center does not state that biometric login is available for every account or device.
Email-and-password login
Choose the email-and-password option and enter the email address and password registered to the LINE account. If no email address was ever registered, or if the password is forgotten, LINE instructs you to check or update the account information from LINE on the main device. Updating account details there is the remedy; creating a new account in the PC app is not supported.
Complete the first-login verification code
LINE may show a verification code when you sign in on a computer for the first time or after reinstalling the PC app. Treat this as a separate authorization step after entering or approving your login.

- Leave the verification screen visible on the computer and open LINE on the main device associated with the account.
- Enter the displayed code on the main device when LINE requests it.
- Check that the computer shown in the authorization prompt is the computer you are trying to sign in to.
- Tap Verify to authorize the session.
The code must be entered within three minutes. If the verification screen does not appear on the main device, LINE’s instruction is to restart LINE on that device and try the PC login again. Do not approve a computer you do not recognize; stop the process and close the PC login screen instead.

Use LINE through Chrome when that is the better fit
LINE documents a Chrome version as an alternative to the installed Windows or Mac application. The listed Chrome requirement is version 94 or later, and support details can change. Before relying on this route, check the current information on LINE’s system-requirements page and the download and login guide.
Open the documented Chrome option from LINE’s official route rather than installing a browser extension or package from an unrelated site. Sign in with the account already created on the main device, using the login method the Chrome experience presents. The available pages do not establish a feature-by-feature equivalence between Chrome and the desktop apps, so choose the path whose published support information and workflow meet your needs.
Troubleshoot the usual setup problems
| Symptom | Likely reason | Action |
|---|---|---|
| The installer will not run or the app will not start. | The computer may fall below the current operating-system or system-type requirement. | Recheck Windows 10 version 1607 or later with 64-bit/x64, or macOS Sonoma 14 or later. For older systems, consult LINE’s requirements page for the release it supports. |
| You cannot find the right download. | You may be using an unofficial mirror or a page for the wrong operating system. | Return to LINE’s official Help Center setup guide and select the Windows or Mac route that matches the computer. |
| The QR code no longer works. | The displayed code expired. | Use the regenerate or refresh icon on the PC, scan the new code with LINE on the main device, and tap Log in. |
| No biometric choice appears. | The option may not be offered for that account, device, or session. | Use QR-code login or enter the registered email address and password. |
| The email-and-password route fails. | The email may not be registered, or the password may be forgotten. | Check or update the account information from LINE on the main device, as directed by LINE. |
| The first-login verification prompt is missing on the main device. | LINE on the main device may need to be restarted. | Restart LINE on that device, then begin the PC login again. |
| The verification code is rejected. | It may have been entered after the three-minute window, or the wrong computer may be selected. | Start the login again to obtain a current code, enter it within three minutes, and verify that the computer shown is the one you are authorizing. |
| You expected a new-account button on the PC. | LINE for PC does not support account creation. | Create or finish setting up the account on the main device, then return to the PC sign-in screen. |
Log out on a shared computer
Do not leave your LINE session open on a computer used by other people. LINE’s shared-computer instruction is specific: in LINE for PC, open Settings at the bottom of the main menu and select Log out (LINE Help Center logout guidance).
- Finish your conversation or file work in LINE.
- Open Settings at the bottom of the main menu.
- Select Log out.
- Wait until the login screen returns before closing the window or leaving the computer.
Logging out is especially important after using a public, workplace, school, hotel, or family computer. It ends the active PC session; the LINE account itself remains available on your main device.
A final setup check
- The installer came from LINE’s official website and matches Windows or Mac.
- The computer meets the current requirement: Windows 10 version 1607 or later, 64-bit/x64; macOS Sonoma 14 or later; or Chrome 94 or later for the browser option.
- The LINE account already exists on the main device.
- QR login was approved on the main device, biometric login completed when offered, or the registered email and password were entered.
- Any first-login or post-reinstall verification code was entered within three minutes and the displayed computer was confirmed before tapping Verify.
- You logged out through Settings > Log out after using a shared computer.
With those checks complete, LINE PC is set up through the supported official path, and the main device remains the account’s control point for approvals and account details.
