The set was model OLED77B5PUA, and the advertised $1,600 saving worked out to about 53% against Best Buy’s stated reference price of roughly $2,999.99.
That promotion is historical, not automatically a live offer. As of August 18, 2026, LG listed the television at $2,999 on its U.S. product page, while Best Buy’s current price requires a live check. At the $1,399.99 deal price, the B5 was an exceptional large-screen OLED value; near $2,999, shoppers should compare newer OLED and Mini-LED options.

| Model | OLED77B5PUA |
| Model year | 2025 |
| Retailer | Best Buy |
| Promotional price | $1,399.99 |
| Advertised saving | $1,600 |

| LG U.S. price observed | $2,999 on LG’s product page as of August 18, 2026 |
The original deal report is available at HotHardware. A 53% figure is mathematically reasonable: $1,600 divided by an approximately $2,999.99 reference price is about 53.3%. That reference price is an advertised comparison, not proof that the TV normally sold at that amount for an extended period.
LG identifies the 77-inch model on its official product page. Check that model number before ordering; a similarly titled C5, G5, older B4/B3, open-box unit or different screen size is not the same deal.
#1 Best Overall
- HYPER RADIANT OLED PICTURE QUALITY: Brightness Booster Pro delivers up to 3.2x brighter pixels* so vivid highlights stand out even in well-lit rooms. More than 8.3 million self-lit pixels produce Perfect Black and Perfect Color with pixel-level contrast control, while the a11 AI Processor applies enhanced AI processing to optimize picture quality. Each OLED pixel illuminates independently, helping deliver depth, detail, and rich color without relying on a traditional backlight.
- Next-Gen Gaming Ready: The C6 is built for next-gen consoles and PC gaming with a 120Hz native refresh rate, VRR for tear-free visuals, and ALLM for responsive gameplay with Auto Low Latency Mode. 4x HDMI ports deliver full-bandwidth connections for your console or PC, and flexibility for additional devices. G-SYNC Compatible and FreeSync Premium help keep motion smooth and fluid whether you're mid-match or watching fast-action sports.
- A11 AI PROCESSOR & Effortless Smart Entertainment: The webOS smart platform puts popular streaming services at your fingertips, powered by the a11 AI Processor for faster navigation and responsive browsing. AI Super Upscaling intelligently enhances HD and FHD content toward 4K clarity so older movies and Blu-ray discs look sharper. Alexa compatibility also provides voice-control options through a compatible Alexa-enabled device.
- DOLBY VISION, DOLBY ATMOS AND FILMMAKER MODE: Bring a more cinematic experience home with Dolby Vision picture quality and Dolby Atmos immersive sound. The built-in 40W 2.2-channel speaker system can pair with a compatible LG soundbar, while WOW Orchestra synchronizes the TV and soundbar speakers for a more unified audio experience. Filmmaker Mode with Ambient Light Technology adjusts the picture based on room lighting, and eARC support helps connect compatible external audio systems.
- DIMENSIONS & ROOM FIT: TV dimensions with stand (WxHxD) are 67.4" x 40.7" x 10.5", and dimensions without stand are 67.4" x 38.7" x 1.9". The 77-inch C6 is designed for larger living rooms and home theater setups; check your available wall or console space and mount compatibility before purchase. Wall-mount hardware is sold separately.
What the B5 offers
OLED picture and HDR
OLED pixels light themselves, allowing very deep blacks and pixel-level contrast without the backlight blooming that can affect some LCD televisions. The B5 supports 4K resolution and Dolby Vision HDR. Those strengths are most apparent in a dim or moderately controlled room.
Gaming connectivity
Deal coverage identified four full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 inputs, up to 120Hz operation, variable refresh rate, HDR10, AMD FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G-Sync support. LG’s launch information also confirms VRR, Dolby Atmos, G-Sync, FreeSync Premium and up-to-120Hz gaming support: LG’s B5 announcement. That makes the set a credible choice for current consoles and a gaming PC, but it does not establish that the B5 is the best gaming television without comparative testing.
Smart-TV features
The B5 uses LG’s webOS platform, with LG Channels and supported streaming applications. The television also includes LG’s Alpha 8 AI Processor Gen2, Dolby Atmos audio support and Dolby Vision compatibility, according to LG’s product information.

Where the bargain has limits
Brightness and room conditions
The B5 is the more affordable line in LG’s OLED range, not a low-quality television. Its likely compromise is less aggressive brightness than premium OLED lines. In a room with strong daylight or direct reflections, a high-brightness Mini-LED may make HDR highlights and sports easier to see. No unverified peak-brightness measurement should be used to make a more precise claim.
Built-in sound
The speakers may be adequate for everyday viewing, but a 77-inch screen can justify a soundbar or AV receiver. Budget for that separately rather than assuming the television’s audio will deliver a home-theater experience.
OLED image-retention risk
Long periods of static, high-contrast material—such as a constantly displayed news ticker, desktop interface or commercial information screen—can create image-retention or burn-in risk. Burn-in is not inevitable, and ordinary varied viewing is different from repetitive commercial use, but OLED is a poor fit for an always-on static display.

Warranty and ownership costs
LG’s U.S. support page lists one year for parts and one year for labor for this model: LG support. That manufacturer coverage is separate from Best Buy’s optional protection plans, which have their own terms and exclusions. The $1,399.99 sticker price can also be increased by sales tax, delivery, installation, wall-mount hardware, audio equipment and a protection plan.

77-inch installation
Measure the wall or console, stand width and depth, doorways, stairs and elevator access. A panel this large is difficult and risky for one person to carry. Leave room for a soundbar if you plan to use one, and verify the retailer’s delivery, return and restocking rules before purchase.
Who should buy the B5 at a discounted price?
- Movie and streaming viewers with a dim or controllable room.
- Gamers who need 4K/120Hz, HDMI 2.1 and VRR.
- Buyers who specifically want OLED contrast on a 77-inch screen.
- Households that can confirm the new-product SKU, return policy and delivery arrangements.
- Viewers who value Dolby Vision and broad HDMI 2.1 connectivity.
Who should skip it?
- People watching mostly in direct sunlight or a very bright living room.
- Users displaying static news, sports tickers, desktop screens or signage for long periods.
- Buyers who expect powerful built-in audio without a soundbar or receiver.
- Commercial, lobby or always-on information installations.
- Anyone unable to transport or safely install a 77-inch panel.
- Shoppers who need more than LG’s standard one-year parts-and-labor coverage.
Alternatives worth checking
LG C5
The C5 is LG’s natural step-up comparison. It may provide a stronger overall performance package, but its current 77-inch price must be checked. Tom’s Guide previously reported a $1,999 Best Buy promotion for the 77-inch C5; that was historical, not a verified August 2026 price: Tom’s Guide deal roundup.

Samsung S90F
The 77-inch S90F is a QD-OLED alternative. The cited deal coverage described a roughly $1,998–$2,000 historical promotion, a native 144Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support, while noting that Samsung does not support Dolby Vision on this model. Those price and availability details require rechecking: HotHardware’s report.
Large Mini-LED
A 75-inch-or-larger Mini-LED can be a better fit for bright rooms, sports-heavy viewing or buyers particularly concerned about OLED burn-in. It generally trades OLED’s perfect blacks for higher potential brightness, so compare a current model and price rather than relying on the old promotion.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteSmaller OLED
A 65-inch OLED can preserve the contrast and gaming features at a lower total cost. The compromise is a substantially smaller viewing area; measure your seating distance before giving up screen size for series or features.
How to evaluate the offer today
- Open Best Buy’s live listing and confirm the price, stock status and whether the unit is new rather than open-box or clearance.
- Match the listing to OLED77B5PUA or the correct regional equivalent.
- Compare the delivered total, including tax, delivery, installation, mounting, audio and any protection plan.
- Read the return window, restocking terms and protection-plan exclusions, especially for panel defects, burn-in and accidental damage.
- Compare the live price with current C5, S90F and Mini-LED offers before paying near LG’s $2,999 listed price.
Verdict
If you could buy a new OLED77B5PUA for $1,399.99, the March 8, 2026 Best Buy promotion was an unusually strong 77-inch OLED value for a suitable room and usage pattern. The same conclusion does not transfer to a $2,999 purchase: at that level, brightness, newer-generation features, warranty terms and Mini-LED or QD-OLED alternatives deserve a fresh comparison. Do not present the 53%-off offer as active unless Best Buy’s live page confirms it.
