The outcome will depend on converting orders into revenue, protecting margins, integrating Covelya without excessive financing strain and proving that recurring services and data analytics can grow alongside hardware.
What Kraken Robotics does and why the acquisition matters
Kraken Robotics supplies marine technology to defence, offshore energy and ocean-science customers. Its portfolio covers sonar, navigation, positioning, imaging, power, communications, monitoring and data analytics for subsea and autonomous-underwater operations.

On July 2, 2026, Kraken said it acquired the Covelya Group. The transaction brought Sonardyne, EIVA, Forcys, Voyis and Chelsea Technologies into the group, materially expanding Kraken’s product range and customer relationships. The March 2026 investor presentation described the combined business at approximately C$365 million of estimated 2025 revenue and a 24% combined adjusted-EBITDA margin.

That larger platform changes the investment question. Kraken is no longer judged only as a specialist supplier of batteries and synthetic-aperture sonar; investors must also assess whether management can operate and cross-sell a much broader subsea-systems business.

The standalone guidance implies approximately 61% to 71% revenue growth from the C$102.2 million 2025 base and roughly 60% to 100% growth in adjusted EBITDA from C$25.0 million. Those percentages describe the business before adding Covelya, so they should not be treated as a forecast for the consolidated company’s reported 2026 results.
Kraken’s president and chief executive, Greg Reid, said: “We are pleased to report another year of strong financial results, driven by significant demand for our products and services across a growing base of customers.” The key question for shareholders is whether that demand remains durable after the acquisition and as individual contracts move through delivery schedules.

The boom case: a scaled subsea technology platform
Organic growth remains unusually high
Demand has been strong for SeaPower subsea batteries, synthetic-aperture sonar and subsea services. Product development is aimed at higher-energy-density batteries, smaller unmanned-surface-vessel launch-and-recovery systems and circular synthetic-aperture sonar. Kraken’s new battery facility is intended to increase manufacturing capacity, allowing more orders to be fulfilled if demand persists.

Covelya contributes established capabilities in sensing, navigation, communications, positioning, imaging and underwater systems. A customer buying one component may now be able to source a wider integrated solution from the combined group. Successful cross-selling could lift revenue per customer and make Kraken more relevant in large defence and offshore programs.

Defence and subsea investment can support a long runway
Autonomous underwater systems, seabed monitoring and high-quality subsea data address persistent needs in defence, offshore infrastructure and ocean science. However, demand is not automatically revenue: procurement approvals, platform integration and delivery milestones can shift recognition between quarters or years.
How Kraken could become a quiet compounder
A quieter, steadier outcome would not require spectacular contract wins every quarter. It would require reliable execution on announced orders, margins at or above guidance and a rising share of repeatable services.

- Order conversion: Product orders must become shipped systems and recognized revenue rather than remain in backlog.
- Margin discipline: Integration costs and product mix should not permanently reduce adjusted-EBITDA margins.
- Recurring revenue: Robotics-as-a-Service and data analytics should become material, repeatable businesses. Kraken’s 2025 management discussion and analysis identifies expansion of both streams as an objective.
- Cross-selling: Covelya’s products should create additional bookings from existing Kraken and Covelya customers, not merely enlarge the cost base.
- Cash conversion: EBITDA growth needs to translate into operating cash after the guided C$15–18 million of 2026 capital expenditures and intangible additions.
What could produce a bust outcome
Integration and financing risk
Kraken’s Q2 2026 disclosure says results depend partly on successful Covelya integration and on the financing and execution consequences of the transaction. A large acquisition can temporarily raise costs, complicate reporting and dilute margins before expected synergies arrive.

Technology commercialization risk
New autonomy, battery, sonar and analytics products may require partnerships, testing and customer qualification. The company specifically flags technology-development partnerships and commercialization as uncertainties. Engineering progress does not guarantee purchase orders.

Timing, concentration and macroeconomic risk
Defence procurement can be lumpy, while offshore-energy and ocean-science spending can respond to economic conditions and project cycles. Delayed or cancelled purchase orders, customer concentration and second-half revenue slippage could make an apparently strong annual outlook difficult to achieve.
Operational and regulatory exposure
The Q2 disclosure and 2025 management discussion and analysis identify dependence on information-technology systems, competition, governmental or regulatory developments and general economic conditions. A cyber, supply-chain or compliance problem could affect delivery even when end-market demand remains healthy.

- Reconcile announced orders with backlog, deliveries, invoicing and recognized revenue; the April C$87 million order figure alone does not establish earnings.
- Check whether capital spending and intangible additions remain near the C$15–18 million guidance and whether operating cash covers them.
- Look for a disclosed contribution from Covelya and evidence that integration is expanding, rather than merely preserving, customer relationships.
- Measure the share of revenue from Robotics-as-a-Service, data analytics and other repeat services.
- Review customer concentration, procurement timing and any changes to financing, share count or acquisition obligations.
- Only then assess valuation using a current, timestamped share price, market capitalization and forward earnings or cash-flow measure.
Can anyone give a reliable stock-price target for 2029?
Not responsibly from the available figures alone. A three-year return estimate requires a current share price, share count or market capitalization and an explicit valuation assumption. Those timestamp-matched inputs are not established here. Even with them, the range would be highly sensitive to Covelya’s earnings contribution, integration costs, order timing and the valuation investors assign to defence and subsea-technology companies.
