Check a Kerala lottery ticket against the Directorate of Kerala State Lotteries’ official result notice and the Kerala Government Gazette, then use the prize structure for that specific draw to determine where and how to claim. Keep the original ticket intact: the Directorate verifies its genuineness before payment, and torn, tampered or mutilated tickets can be rejected.
Do not assume every draw has the same deadline or claim office. Kerala lottery regulations contain both a 30-day rule in the general regulations and 90-day instructions in later result notices and a draw-specific prize structure. The applicable draw document and the Directorate are the safest authorities when those instructions appear to differ.

How to check a Kerala lottery ticket
A ticket is not confirmed as a winner merely because its number appears in a social-media post, newspaper image or unofficial app. Use the official result information for the exact draw printed on your ticket and verify it against the Kerala Government Gazette, as the Directorate’s notices advise.

Before searching a result, note the lottery name, draw date or draw number, series and full ticket number. Check the printed letters and digits carefully; a similar-looking series or a transposed digit can produce a false match. Keep the physical ticket beside you while checking so that you do not compare a cropped photograph or partial number.

2. Locate the official result notice
Use the Directorate of Kerala State Lotteries’ result notice for that draw. The notice should identify the lottery and draw and set out the winning numbers or prize list. The Directorate’s result notice dated 18 February 2026 says: “The prize winners are advised to verify the winning numbers with the results published in the Kerala Government Gazette and surrender the winning tickets within 90 days.” A result notice dated 18 April 2025 uses the same instruction.
3. Verify the number in the Gazette
Compare the complete ticket number and series with the result published in the Kerala Government Gazette. This second check matters because the Directorate specifically directs winners to use the Gazette for verification. Treat the Gazette and the current Directorate notice as the controlling record rather than a forwarded list whose date or draw identity is unclear.
4. Match the prize category and draw document
Once a number appears to match, identify the corresponding prize category and amount. Then read the prize structure or claim instructions issued for that draw. Claim office, delivery method, supporting documents and deadline can depend on the prize level and on the particular draw document.
5. Preserve the original ticket
Do not laminate, cut, staple through, write over, wash, erase or otherwise alter the ticket. Make a clear scan or photograph for your records, but do not submit a substitute image in place of the original unless the Directorate expressly instructs you to do so. The original is the document the Department examines before releasing a prize.

Which deadline applies: 30 days or 90 days?
There is a genuine difference among the general rules and later result notices, so a single universal deadline would be misleading.
| Official material | Instruction | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| General Kerala Paper Lotteries (Regulation) Rules PDF | Prizes not claimed within 30 days will not be disbursed. The Director may permit a claim up to 180 days, and the Government may permit a claim up to one year, when satisfied that there are cogent reasons for the delay. | This is the general rule text; it does not explain how it interacts with every later draw notice. |
| Directorate result notice dated 18 April 2025 | Winners are told to verify the Gazette result and surrender winning tickets within 90 days. | Follow this as the instruction attached to that result notice. |
| Directorate result notice dated 18 February 2026 | Winners are again told to verify the Gazette result and surrender winning tickets within 90 days. | Follow this as the instruction attached to that result notice. |
| Draw-specific prize structure with 2025 file identifiers | Winning tickets must be surrendered within 90 days. | Use the structure for the exact draw, including any special claim route. |
The available official documents do not state whether the 90-day language supersedes, supplements or otherwise modifies the 30-day provision for every lottery. If you have a winning ticket, read the current result notice and prize structure for its draw and contact the Directorate promptly, especially if the stated period is close to expiring or has already passed. Do not wait for an informal interpretation of the discrepancy.
Where to submit a winning ticket
The claim route depends on the prize category and the prize structure for the draw. One draw-specific prize structure gives the following document-specific directions:

|---|---|---|
| First prize | Submit to the Director in person, by insured or registered post, or through the specified banks, with the necessary documents. | This route comes from that draw-specific structure; confirm it for your draw. |
| Second prize | Submit to the Director in person, by insured or registered post, or through the specified banks, with the necessary documents. | The same document places first- and second-prize claims on this route. |
| Prize of ₹10,00,000 or less | May be claimed from District or Sub Lottery Offices. | The ₹10,00,000 threshold is stated in that draw-specific structure and should not be assumed for every draw. |
| Other prize categories | Use the office, bank or postal route specified in the applicable prize structure. | Do not infer a route solely from the amount printed in a different lottery’s instructions. |
The general rules also say that claims may be made directly, by post or through banks. They list payment by demand draft, exchange of tickets or cash, as applicable, subject to legal or contractual deductions. The draw-specific instructions control the practical route for your ticket, including which banks and which documents are accepted.

How to prepare a claim
Write the required details on the reverse
The applicable prize structure instructs the winner to write their name, address and signature on the reverse of the ticket. Follow that instruction exactly for the relevant draw. Write legibly and avoid covering serial numbers, security features or other printed information.
Gather the documents named in the prize structure
Use the list attached to the draw rather than relying on a generic checklist. First- and second-prize claims in that draw-specific structure must include the “necessary documents,” but the material does not establish one universal list for every lottery. If an office, bank or result notice gives a particular form or identity document requirement, include it and retain copies of everything submitted.
Choose a delivery method that creates proof
If the structure permits post, it specifically refers to insured or registered post. Keep the receipt, tracking information, a copy of the ticket and a copy of every accompanying document. If you deliver in person, request an acknowledgement showing the date and receiving office. If you use a bank, ask for a stamped receipt and confirmation that the branch is one of those specified for the draw.
Protect the ticket while it is in transit
Place the original in a rigid, waterproof envelope or document sleeve so it cannot bend or become wet. Do not send the only copy of your records. Verify the receiving address from the current Directorate instruction immediately before dispatch because administrative details can change.

What happens when the Department examines the ticket?
Payment follows verification of the ticket’s genuineness. The Department can reject tickets that are torn, tampered with or mutilated, and the general rules require tickets to be surrendered in good condition. A damaged ticket is therefore not automatically payable simply because its number seems to match a result.
Minor wear versus suspected alteration
Ordinary handling marks are different from damage that obscures security features, removes information or suggests alteration. Do not attempt to repair a tear with tape, redraw a faded digit or remove adhesive. Preserve the ticket as found and ask the Directorate or the office named in the draw instructions how it wants the claim presented.
Do not surrender an unverified ticket to an unknown intermediary
Send or hand over the ticket only through the official route stated for the draw. Unofficial agents cannot replace the Department’s verification process and may leave you without proof of where the original went.

The general rules describe several possible payment methods: demand draft, exchange of tickets or cash, as applicable. The method can depend on the claim route, prize category and the instructions governing the draw. Payment is subject to legal or contractual deductions where those deductions apply.

Because the official material does not provide one payment timetable for every prize, do not treat a submission receipt as a guarantee of payment on a particular date. Keep the acknowledgement and use the official contact channel if the office asks for additional information or if you need to check the status of a properly submitted claim.
If the deadline has passed
Act immediately rather than discarding the ticket. The general rules say the Director may permit a claim up to 180 days and the Government up to one year when satisfied that there are cogent reasons for delay. Those provisions do not establish that a late claim will be accepted, and the later 90-day draw instructions may apply to the particular lottery.
- Read the exact result notice and prize structure for your draw and record the stated surrender deadline.
- Contact the Directorate and explain the delay, keeping the original ticket secure.
- Ask what written application, evidence or approval is required for a late claim.
- Follow the response from the competent office; do not mail the ticket to an address obtained from an unverified source.
