Short answer: The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk was sold for the 2018 through 2021 model years. It used a 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8 producing 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and an on-demand Quadra-Trac four-wheel-drive system.
Jeep claimed 0–60 mph in 3.5 seconds, an 11.6-second quarter-mile at 116 mph, and a 180-mph top speed. Independent testing recorded between 3.3 and 3.5 seconds to 60 mph and quarter-mile times from 11.7 to 12.0 seconds. The Trackhawk is discontinued, so anyone shopping today is buying a used WK2-generation Grand Cherokee—not a 2022, 2023, or 2026 model.
- Original starting price: $86,995 including destination for the 2018 model, based on Jeep’s $85,900 MSRP and $1,095 destination charge.
- Final-model-year starting price: $89,165 including destination for 2021, based on the contemporaneous order guide.
- Current used-market snapshot: roughly the mid-$40,000s for high-mileage or compromised examples to more than $80,000 for clean, low-mileage vehicles, with the exact price depending heavily on mileage, history, modifications, and condition.
What is the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk?
The Trackhawk is the highest-performance version of the two-row, WK2-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee. It combined a family-sized SUV body with the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 used across the Hellcat performance family. The result was an unusually quick, five-seat SUV that could also tow and carry cargo.
CLASSIC.COM identifies the Trackhawk’s production range as 2018–2021. The 2021 model year was the last in that documented range; the name did not continue with the newer-generation Grand Cherokee. Jeep’s current U.S. vehicle list includes the Grand Cherokee but not a Trackhawk, while current Grand Cherokee materials focus on newer turbocharged and electrified powertrains. See the Trackhawk production listing and Jeep’s current vehicle lineup.

How fast is the Trackhawk really?
0–60 mph
Official claim: 3.5 seconds. MotorTrend recorded 3.3 seconds, while Car and Driver recorded 3.5 seconds. The most accurate summary is therefore that a stock Trackhawk is a low-three-second SUV under favorable testing conditions—not that every example will reproduce one publication’s exact number.
Launch Control, tire condition, pavement preparation, ambient temperature, fuel load, vehicle equipment, testing instruments, and the use of a one-foot rollout can all affect the result. A used Trackhawk with worn tires, additional weight, altered software, or a drivetrain problem may be slower than a professionally prepared test vehicle.

Official claim: 11.6 seconds at 116 mph. MotorTrend achieved 11.7 seconds at 116.2 mph. Car and Driver recorded 12.0 seconds at 115 mph and specifically noted that its test did not match Jeep’s claim.
These results are close enough to confirm the Trackhawk’s extraordinary straight-line performance, but they should not be treated as a guaranteed owner result. The surface, weather, tires, launch settings, and test method matter. A claim that a Trackhawk runs an 11.6-second quarter-mile should also identify whether the number came from Jeep, a publication, or a modified vehicle.
Top speed and braking
Jeep claimed a 180-mph top speed. Car and Driver characterized that figure as a drag-limited manufacturer claim, not as an independently verified speed that an owner should expect to reach in ordinary use.
The Trackhawk’s braking hardware is substantial: 15.75-inch front rotors with six-piston calipers and 13.78-inch rear rotors with four-piston calipers. Jeep claimed 60–0 mph braking in 114 feet; MotorTrend measured 108 feet. These large components help control a vehicle weighing more than 5,000 pounds, but they also mean that tires and brake components are performance-car consumables.

Why the powertrain is more than just a 707-hp engine
The Trackhawk’s 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI is intercooled and uses a 2.4-liter IHI supercharger. The factory output is 707 hp and 645 lb-ft, with peak torque arriving at 4,800 rpm. Car and Driver reported that the engine’s five-lower lb-ft rating compared with some Dodge Hellcat applications reflected the Trackhawk’s more restrictive exhaust.
Jeep and its engineers also had to reinforce the rest of the vehicle. The 8HP95 automatic transmission, transfer case, rear driveshaft, half-shafts, CV joints, and differential were upgraded for the Trackhawk’s output. Car and Driver reported that the transmission was rated to handle up to 811 lb-ft.
The Trackhawk uses an on-demand Quadra-Trac four-wheel-drive system, rather than a rear-wheel-drive layout. Its electronic limited-slip rear differential and active transfer case help put the engine’s torque down during launches. Jeep’s terminology is four-wheel drive, although some listings and buyers casually call it AWD.
Drive modes and Launch Control
The Selec-Track system offers five modes:
- Auto: the default road-oriented setting.
- Sport: sharper responses and more aggressive calibration.
- Track: the most performance-focused on-road calibration.
- Snow: a reduced-power traction strategy.
- Tow: smoother response and towing-oriented behavior.
Launch Control coordinates the engine, transmission, driveline, and suspension for acceleration. Jeep also described Torque Reserve as a system that helps build boost and improve launch response. Repeated launches are entertaining but place additional stress on tires, driveline components, transmission fluids, and differentials—important considerations when evaluating a used example.

Fuel economy, towing, and ownership trade-offs
The EPA rating is 11 mpg city, 17 mpg highway, and 13 mpg combined. Car and Driver matched the 17-mpg highway estimate in its 200-mile test but described the Trackhawk as exceptionally thirsty.
For a simple fuel-budget estimate, divide expected annual miles by 13 to estimate combined gallons, then multiply by the local price of premium fuel. For example, a driver covering 12,000 miles would use roughly 923 gallons at the combined rating before real-world factors such as idling, short trips, winter weather, and aggressive acceleration. The Trackhawk’s actual fuel bill will depend on local fuel prices and driving style; the calculation is a planning method, not a promise of real-world economy.
The SUV can tow up to 7,200 pounds when properly equipped and configured. That rating does not mean every Trackhawk has the same practical payload or that a driver should tow at the maximum without checking the vehicle’s specific door-jamb ratings, hitch equipment, trailer brakes, tongue weight, and local requirements.
Its useful traits are unusual in combination:
- Supercar-like acceleration in a five-seat SUV.
- Roughly 36 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats.
- Substantial towing capacity.
- Four-wheel-drive traction for launching and bad-weather driving.
The trade-offs are equally clear. It is much less fuel-efficient than ordinary Grand Cherokee trims, and its 295-section tires, large brakes, high-output engine, supercharger, and performance drivetrain can make consumables and repairs more expensive. Car and Driver also noted that although the Trackhawk can outrun many performance vehicles in a straight line, it is not as composed as the best high-performance SUVs on a road course. It is a very heavy SUV with track-oriented equipment—not a lightweight sports car.

Trackhawk pricing is often confusing because sources mix base MSRP, destination charges, options, and later database calculations. The table below separates those figures as much as possible.
| Model year | Base MSRP | Destination charge | Starting price including destination |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2018 | $85,900 | $1,095 | $86,995 |
| 2019 | About $86,900 before destination, depending on source | Typically about $1,495 | About $88,395 |
| 2020 | $86,900 | $1,495 | $88,395 |
| 2021 | $87,670 | $1,495 | $89,165 |
For 2018, Jeep’s launch announcement explicitly gave the $85,900 price before the $1,095 destination charge, making $86,995 the destination-inclusive starting figure before options. The announcement is available through Jeep’s 2018 pricing release.
The 2020 order guide listed $86,900 plus $1,495 destination. The contemporaneous 2021 order guide listed $87,670 plus the same $1,495 destination charge. Later databases report different totals: Car and Driver lists $91,665 for a 2021 Trackhawk, while Cars.com lists $90,070. Those differences may reflect differing definitions of MSRP, equipment, fees, or database updates. For an original-price comparison, the contemporaneous order-guide figures provide a clearly labeled basis.
How expensive could a new one become?
Options could push a Trackhawk above $100,000. MotorTrend tested a 2018 example priced at $100,960, and another first-drive vehicle stickered at $99,965. Equipment included combinations of upgraded leather, premium audio, a panoramic roof, rear entertainment, tow equipment, forged wheels, and performance tires.
Recommended Free Tools
That distinction matters when comparing today’s used price with the original price. A $90,000 starting MSRP does not mean every Trackhawk originally sold for $90,000, and a heavily optioned example may have had a six-figure window sticker.
What does a used Trackhawk cost now?
Used prices vary substantially by mileage, accident history, modifications, title status, service records, location, and evidence of repeated launches or drag racing. The following is a dated snapshot, not a permanent price guide.
| Source and date | Figure | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| CLASSIC.COM, snapshot dated August 10, 2026 | $85,393 market benchmark | A tracked-market benchmark |
| CLASSIC.COM, same snapshot | $90,004 average recorded sale price | Average of tracked sales, not an asking-price average |
| CLASSIC.COM, April 2026 sale | $44,250 low sale | Illustrates the effect of mileage, condition, title, and history |
| Kelley Blue Book, 2021 Trackhawk page | $65,800 resale value; $66,200 trade-in value | Valuation estimates that depend on vehicle and market assumptions |
See the CLASSIC.COM Trackhawk market page and Kelley Blue Book’s 2021 valuation page for the referenced snapshots.
A practical planning range is roughly the mid-$40,000s for high-mileage, damaged, modified, or otherwise compromised vehicles to the $80,000-plus range for clean, low-mileage examples. Exceptionally preserved or collector-oriented vehicles can be higher. Check current completed sales and live listings before making an offer, and do not confuse an asking price with a completed-sale price or a trade-in estimate.

2018 vs. 2019 vs. 2020 vs. 2021
The four model years share the same basic performance formula. There was no documented model-year leap that made one year dramatically faster than the others.
2018
The 2018 Trackhawk was the first model year. It introduced the 707-hp supercharged V8, claimed 3.5-second 0–60 performance, claimed an 11.6-second quarter-mile at 116 mph, and an $85,900 base MSRP before destination. Certain early-build vehicles were affected by a fuel-supply jumper-tube recall, discussed below.
2019
The 2019 model retained the 707-hp engine, 645 lb-ft of torque, eight-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel drive, and claimed 3.5-second 0–60 time. Car and Driver listed a destination-inclusive MSRP of $88,395.
2020
The 2020 model was mechanically similar. Car and Driver noted a yellow Trackhawk liftgate badge, a standard single-pane sunroof, and additional wheel, interior, and lighting options. The 2020 order guide listed $86,900 before destination.
2021
The 2021 Trackhawk was the final model year in the 2018–2021 range and entered the year without meaningful mechanical changes. Its order guide listed $87,670 before destination. The newer 710-hp Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat became a corporate performance-SUV competitor, but it was not a Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.
Used-buying checklist: what to inspect before paying Trackhawk money
1. Verify that it is a genuine Trackhawk
Do not buy solely on badges, a hood graphic, or yellow brake calipers. A regular Grand Cherokee, SRT, or even a Trailhawk can be modified cosmetically.
Confirm the VIN and build information, then look for the 6.2-liter supercharged V8, 707-hp rating, Trackhawk-specific interior identifiers, quad exhaust outlets, yellow Brembo calipers, the 8HP95 transmission, and the correct performance drivetrain. A Jeep/Dodge performance specialist can help verify whether the engine, driveline, modules, and calibration match a factory Trackhawk.
2. Investigate modifications and hard use
Ask whether the vehicle has ever had a pulley change, aftermarket tune, intake, exhaust, drag-racing tires, or non-factory wiring. Request the original calibration or other evidence that the vehicle has remained stock. Check for belt and supercharger service, cooling-system work, transmission and differential-fluid records, and driveline repairs.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Have a technician scan the vehicle for stored or recently cleared diagnostic trouble codes. Inspect the tires for uneven wear, look underneath for damage, and check for evidence of repeated hard launches. A clean appearance does not establish gentle use.
3. Check the 2018 fuel-line recall by VIN
Certain early-build 2018 Trackhawks were included in NHTSA recall 18V-048, FCA Safety Recall U02. The affected production period was October 11, 2017 through December 11, 2017, and the NHTSA filing identified approximately 1,242 potentially involved vehicles. A separated fuel-line jumper tube could cause an engine stall or an engine-compartment fire.
This does not mean every 2018 Trackhawk is affected. Enter the specific VIN into the NHTSA recall lookup and confirm that any open recall was completed. Review the NHTSA recall report for the affected condition and the dealer repair instructions.
4. Review title, accident, and service history
Obtain a vehicle-history report and look for accidents, theft recovery, flood damage, rebuilt or salvage title branding, repeated auction transactions, and unexplained mileage changes. A clean title and documented maintenance are generally more valuable than choosing a newer model year with a questionable history.

Before purchase, pay for an independent pre-purchase inspection by a shop familiar with high-output Chrysler, Dodge, or Jeep vehicles. The inspection should cover the supercharger and cooling system, transmission, transfer case, differentials, driveshafts, CV joints, suspension, brakes, tires, electronics, and evidence of tuning or collision repair.
5. Budget for performance consumables
Get current quotes for the exact tire size and brake configuration before buying. The Trackhawk’s 295/45ZR20 tires and large Brembo brake system are not priced like ordinary Grand Cherokee components. Replacement costs vary by brand, dealer, independent shop, OEM versus aftermarket parts, and local labor rates, so a buyer should obtain actual quotes rather than rely on a generic maintenance estimate.
Also account for premium fuel, insurance, registration and taxes, potential warranty limits on modified vehicles, and the possibility that a high-mileage supercharged SUV will require more specialized service than a standard Grand Cherokee.

Is a used Trackhawk worth buying?
It can be, if the buyer values acceleration more than operating economy. The Trackhawk offers a rare combination of extreme straight-line speed, five-seat practicality, cargo space, four-wheel-drive traction, and towing capability. For a buyer who wants a muscle-SUV experience and accepts performance-car running costs, it remains distinctive even after production ended.
It is a poor fit for someone prioritizing low fuel bills, inexpensive tires and brakes, a soft ride, serious low-speed trail work, or lightweight sports-car handling. The Trackhawk’s main advantage is explosive acceleration. Its large mass and thirsty engine are part of the ownership bargain.
From a financial perspective, condition and history should drive the purchase decision more than a small difference between model years. A well-documented, stock 2018 can be a better buy than a modified 2021 with accident history. Compare the vehicle’s price with recent completed sales, keep a repair reserve, and complete an independent inspection before committing.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk still made?
No current Trackhawk appears in Jeep’s U.S. lineup as of August 10, 2026. The documented Trackhawk production range is 2018–2021, so current shoppers are purchasing used vehicles.

What is the difference between a Trackhawk and a Trailhawk?
The Trackhawk is the 707-hp supercharged street-performance model. The Trailhawk is an off-road-oriented Grand Cherokee trim and does not use the Trackhawk’s Hellcat-derived V8.
Does the Trackhawk have AWD or 4WD?
Jeep describes its system as on-demand Quadra-Trac four-wheel drive. It includes an electronic limited-slip rear differential and a single-speed active transfer case.
How much horsepower does the Trackhawk have?
The 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8 produces 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque.
The Bottom Line
The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is a 2018–2021 used-only performance SUV with 707 hp, a claimed 3.5-second 0–60 time, and genuinely exceptional straight-line speed. Its financial appeal is the combination of muscle-car performance and SUV practicality; its financial risk is the cost of feeding, maintaining, insuring, and repairing a heavy supercharged vehicle with large tires, brakes, and driveline components.
When shopping, verify the VIN and factory configuration, check the early-2018 recall, investigate tuning and launch-heavy use, compare completed-sale data with asking prices, and pay for a specialist inspection. The best Trackhawk purchase is usually the cleanest, most documented, most nearly stock example—not automatically the newest one.
