IHG One Rewards Business Credit Card benefits and fees: What cardholders need to know in 2026

The IHG One Rewards Business Credit Card now carries a $200 annual fee, according to IHG’s October 1, 2026 portfolio announcement. The card was previously called the IHG One Rewards Premier Business Card. Its value depends on whether your business can use the hotel rewards, automatic Platinum Elite status, annual credits and travel protections—not on the headline points totals alone.

Existing cardmembers were told they would receive October notices explaining when refreshed benefits take effect, while annual fees are scheduled to be adjusted in 2027. Until your notice and current account disclosures confirm the change, do not assume every new benefit or fee already applies to your account.

What changed: name, fee and transition timing

IHG now identifies the product as the IHG One Rewards Business Credit Card. It was formerly known as the IHG One Rewards Premier Business Card. IHG announced a $200 annual fee for the refreshed card. Existing accounts are not necessarily changing on the same day: IHG said cardmembers would be notified in October about effective dates, and that annual-fee adjustments would occur in 2027.

Your account notice and the disclosures attached to your card control the terms that apply to you. This distinction matters if you are deciding whether to renew before the new fee appears or are planning around a credit that has not yet been activated on your account.

How the hotel points earning works

“Up to 26X” is a combined total

Chase advertises up to 26X total points on IHG stays. That figure is made up of 10X from the card, up to 10X from IHG as a member and up to 6X from Platinum Elite status. It is not a single 26X issuer rate applied by the credit card.

The word “up to” is important. Your actual result depends on the stay qualifying for the relevant IHG earnings, your membership and status at the time, and the property and transaction coding. Platinum Elite’s loyalty-program component includes a 60% bonus on base points on most IHG stays, but the program’s own definitions and exclusions govern.

Other bonus categories

IHG’s announcement lists 5X points for direct-booked flights, car rentals, dining, gas and select advertising, plus 3X on other purchases. A purchase must be coded into an eligible category; a restaurant, fuel station, advertising platform or travel provider can code differently from what its name suggests. Check your current account terms before using a specific vendor to meet a spending plan.

When points reach IHG

The reviewed Chase rewards agreement for the former Premier Business card says points earned during a billing cycle transfer automatically to IHG One Rewards after that cycle closes. The agreement excludes balance transfers, cash advances, cash-like transactions, interest and fees from qualifying purchases. Because that document uses the old product name and does not comprehensively describe IHG One Rewards, use it as a description of the transfer mechanics—not as a replacement for the refreshed agreement or current loyalty-program terms.

Platinum Elite status included with the card

Automatic Platinum Elite status is one of the card’s most consequential benefits for frequent IHG guests. Chase describes associated perks including:

  • A 60% bonus on base points on most IHG stays.
  • A choice of welcome amenity.
  • Reward-night discounts when offered through the loyalty program.
  • Late checkout, subject to availability.
  • Possible complimentary room upgrades when available.

None of these perks guarantees a particular room, checkout time or discount on every stay. Availability, property participation and the loyalty program’s current rules determine what you receive. Status can be valuable to a traveler who would otherwise earn it through stays, but it has little practical effect if you rarely stay at participating IHG hotels.

Anniversary free-night certificate

After each card anniversary, Chase says the card awards a free-night certificate usable at eligible IHG hotels. The refreshed certificate has a 50,000-point redemption cap. IHG says you may add existing IHG points to top up a redemption above that cap.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The cap is a limit on the points required for the room, not a promise that the certificate will produce a room worth a particular cash price. You need an eligible hotel with award inventory on the dates you want, and the certificate’s expiration and booking rules in your account apply. Before counting the certificate toward the $200 fee, check whether destinations and dates you actually use have rooms within the cap.

Fourth reward night free

When you redeem points for a qualifying stay of four or more nights, the fourth reward night is free. IHG describes this as a consecutive four-night hotel stay, while Chase frames it as the fourth reward night when redeeming points for a stay of at least four nights.

This is an award-redemption feature, not a general 25% discount on a four-night cash reservation. It matters most when you already plan a qualifying points stay and can keep the reservation within the program’s eligibility rules. Shorter stays and cash bookings do not create the same benefit.

Annual credits: up to $300 in listed opportunities

The refreshed business-card announcement lists three separate annual credits:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Up to $100 in IHG Food & Beverage Rewards.
  • $100 airline statement credit for qualifying flight purchases.
  • Up to $100 annual Expensify statement credit for qualifying purchases.

If you can fully use all three, the published maximum is $300 in credits against a $200 annual fee. That arithmetic is not a guarantee of $300 in cash value: each credit has eligibility, timing and redemption conditions, and the Food & Beverage and Expensify amounts are expressed as “up to.” Verify the live disclosures for eligible merchants, enrollment, posting deadlines, and whether unused amounts expire.

Elite-night credits and spending mechanics

The announcement provides 15 Elite Night Credits each calendar year, plus 2 additional credits for every $5,000 spent. Those credits can help a traveler progress toward status thresholds, but they do not automatically guarantee a higher tier or a free-night award. Other spending-based status or free-night thresholds appear in card materials; confirm the current rules before directing business spend toward one.

For planning purposes, count only qualifying purchases under the current agreement. Interest, fees, cash advances, balance transfers and cash-like transactions do not count under the reviewed rewards agreement for the former card.

Travel protections and business controls

Travel-related features

The card has no foreign transaction fees. Chase also lists up to $120 every four years toward Global Entry, TSA PreCheck or NEXUS when the application fee is charged to the card. The credit is periodic rather than annual, so it should not be treated as a yearly rebate.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Trip cancellation and interruption coverage and rental-car protections are also described by Chase. These protections are subject to definitions, exclusions, documentation and payment requirements in the benefit terms. Read those terms before assuming a delayed, canceled or damaged-rental claim will be reimbursed.

Employee cards

Employee cards are available at no additional cost, and employee purchases earn points for the business. Set spending controls and review employee transactions under your company’s accounting policy; free employee cards do not remove the business’s responsibility for authorized charges.

Is the $200 fee worth it for your business?

Use a conservative, usage-based calculation rather than assigning a fixed cash price to points, status or the certificate.

  1. Start with predictable credits. Estimate the airline credit you can use on qualifying flights and the portion of the Food & Beverage and Expensify credits your business will realistically trigger.
  2. Check your hotel pattern. List the IHG nights you expect to book and whether you normally pay cash or redeem points. The fourth-night benefit has no value to a business that rarely makes four-night award stays.
  3. Test the certificate against actual destinations. Search the kinds of hotels and dates your travelers use and see whether award rooms fall at or below the 50,000-point cap. Do not value it as a guaranteed dollar amount.
  4. Separate status convenience from cash savings. Welcome amenities, late checkout and possible upgrades can improve a trip, but availability varies and they are not guaranteed cash benefits.
  5. Include operational advantages. No-fee employee cards, centralized earning and travel protections may matter to a business even when hotel rewards alone do not cover the fee.
  6. Subtract unused benefits. If your business does not fly, use Expensify, buy eligible hotel food or stay at IHG properties, the headline credits and points will not offset the fee at their published maximum.

A frequent IHG traveler who can use the annual credits and redeem a four-night award stay has a stronger case than a business that books independent hotels, rarely flies and cannot use the statement credits. The published terms support that decision framework, but they do not establish a universal cash valuation.

How to compare another business card

Current terms for competing products are not established here, so compare them using the same questions rather than assuming a rival card is better or worse:

  • What is the annual fee, and when is it charged?
  • Are rewards tied to one hotel program or transferable across several programs?
  • Can your business actually use each annual credit, and are credits automatic or enrollment-based?
  • What is the hotel certificate’s points cap, and can you top it up?
  • Is elite status automatic, and what benefits are guaranteed versus availability-based?
  • How much qualifying spend is required for additional elite-night credits or free-night rewards?
  • What travel protections apply, and what payment and documentation rules trigger them?
  • Are employee cards free, and do employee purchases earn the same rewards?

Important limitations before applying or renewing

  • The $200 fee and refreshed benefits were announced in October 2026, but existing-account effective dates may differ.
  • The 26X hotel figure combines three earning sources; it is not solely the card’s rate.
  • Points, award inventory, certificate rules and loyalty-program terms can change.
  • Credits require qualifying transactions and may have conditions that are not visible in a headline summary.
  • Platinum Elite perks such as upgrades and late checkout depend on availability.
  • The reviewed points agreement carries the former card name, so rely on your current account disclosures for the renamed product.

Bottom line

The IHG One Rewards Business Credit Card is most compelling for a business that regularly stays at IHG hotels, can use the airline, food-and-beverage and Expensify credits, and values automatic Platinum Elite status. The $200 fee can be reasonable when those benefits match real spending, but the 50,000-point certificate cap, fourth-night award rule and “up to” earnings do not guarantee a particular dollar return. Existing cardmembers should use their October notice and 2027 fee-adjustment details to determine exactly when each refreshed term applies.
