You cannot link a Walmart+ account to Exxon Mobil Rewards+ or combine both programs on one fuel purchase. Walmart+ fuel savings are redeemed separately in the Walmart app at participating Exxon and Mobil stations. ExxonMobil states that a purchase using the Walmart+ discount does not earn Exxon Mobil Rewards+ points. See the Walmart fuel-discount instructions and ExxonMobil’s Walmart+ program page for the operator guidance.
If your priority is the Walmart+ per-gallon discount, use the Walmart app’s fuel-savings flow and do not open the Rewards+ app for that same transaction. If your priority is Rewards+ points, use Exxon Mobil Rewards+ through its own app and account. The official materials do not describe an account-linking method or a way to receive both benefits at once.

What “linking” Walmart+ and Rewards+ would mean
Walmart+ and Exxon Mobil Rewards+ are separate membership systems. Walmart+ provides a fuel-price discount through Walmart’s app, while Rewards+ is ExxonMobil’s loyalty account for its own points and offers. The published program instructions describe using one program or the other; they do not provide a setting that connects the accounts, imports one membership into the other, or stacks their benefits.
ExxonMobil’s Walmart+ guidance is explicit: “Savings cannot be combined with the Exxon Mobil Rewards+™ program and no points are earned for future savings.” That statement applies to the discounted Walmart+ transaction, not merely to a particular payment card. It means a Walmart+ fuel purchase should be treated as a Walmart+ redemption, with no Rewards+ points credited for that purchase.
#1 Best Overall
Walmart’s help page also warns that the Exxon/Mobil discount cannot be combined with the Mobil+ Loyalty Program discount. The names are easy to confuse, but the practical rule is the same: select the program whose benefit you want before you authorize the pump.
Choose the benefit before you start fueling
| Choice | Where you use it | Benefit described by the operator | What you cannot expect on that transaction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Walmart+ fuel savings | Walmart app at a participating Exxon or Mobil station | ExxonMobil currently advertises 10 cents per gallon at nearly 12,000 participating Exxon and Mobil branded stations, across fuel grades. | No Exxon Mobil Rewards+ points and no combined Rewards+/Mobil+ discount. |
| Exxon Mobil Rewards+ | Exxon Mobil Rewards+ account and its current app or program flow | Rewards+ points and offers governed by the Rewards+ program terms. | No Walmart+ discount is established for the same purchase by the official materials. |
The 10-cent figure and station count are vendor-stated program terms, not an independent fuel-price measurement. ExxonMobil does not give a publication year for that claim on the current page. Participation, the discount amount and eligible locations can change. Walmart’s Walmart+ Terms of Use says third-party fuel savings are subject to change, may differ by location and can be affected by state fuel-pricing laws.
How to redeem the Walmart+ discount at Exxon or Mobil
These steps follow Walmart’s current help instructions. You need an active Walmart+ membership, the Walmart app and a participating Exxon or Mobil branded station. Labels and prompts can vary by station, so read the pump and app screens rather than assuming every location has the same layout.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Open the Walmart app. Sign in to the Walmart account that holds your Walmart+ membership.
- Open Services. From the app’s main navigation, choose Services.
- Open Walmart+ Member benefits. Select the member-benefits area, then choose Member prices on fuel.
- Confirm the station participates. Walmart says fuel-savings availability depends on the station. If the location is not eligible, the app will not provide the applicable redemption experience.
- Scan the pump’s QR code. At a participating pump, scan the displayed QR code when the app requests it. The current Walmart help page notes that redemption steps vary by station.
- Choose the fuel-up prompt. Select the prompt that starts the fuel-up process in the Walmart app.
- Enter the pump number. Type the number shown on the pump you are using and check it carefully before continuing.
- Select a payment method. Choose the payment option presented in the Walmart app. Do not assume that opening the Rewards+ app or presenting a Rewards+ identifier will add points to this Walmart+ redemption.
- Select the fuel grade. Pick the grade you intend to dispense. Verify the selection on the pump before lifting the nozzle.
- Start fueling. Once the app confirms the pump and fuel grade, begin fueling at the pump. Keep the receipt or transaction record if the displayed price does not match the expected member price.
ExxonMobil describes the same core process as selecting fuel savings in the Walmart app, entering the pump number, choosing payment and selecting the fuel grade. Its guidance identifies the benefit as available at participating Exxon and Mobil branded stations and requires the Walmart app: Walmart+ Fuel Savings at Exxon and Mobil Gas Stations.
What to check before authorizing the pump
- Your Walmart+ membership is active in the signed-in Walmart account.
- You are using the Walmart app, not only a mobile browser or the Rewards+ app.
- The station and pump display the Walmart+ or member-fuel-savings option.
- The pump number in the app matches the physical pump.
- The selected fuel grade matches the grade you plan to dispense.
- You understand that the discounted transaction will not earn Rewards+ points.
How the Walmart+ savings are calculated
ExxonMobil currently describes the Walmart+ benefit as 10 cents per gallon at nearly 12,000 participating Exxon and Mobil branded stations. The statement says the discount applies to every gallon across fuel grades. For example, if an eligible transaction dispenses 12 gallons, the stated discount would represent $1.20 before considering any other price, tax or payment details. That is an illustration of the advertised per-gallon rate, not a guarantee that every station will display the same final price.
There are three important limits on that figure:
- It is location-dependent. Walmart says fuel savings from third-party providers may differ by location. A station’s participation and the amount shown in the app control the transaction.
- It can change. Walmart’s terms allow third-party fuel benefits to change, and state fuel-pricing laws can affect how discounts are offered.
- It is not a Rewards+ earning rate. ExxonMobil says no Rewards+ points are earned when you use the Walmart+ discount.
Check the app and pump for the price actually offered at your station. Do not treat the “nearly 12,000” station count as a promise that every Exxon or Mobil location participates.
Planning the fill-up: what the advertised discount is worth
The 10-cent figure is applied per gallon, so the simple estimate is gallons dispensed multiplied by $0.10. A 10-gallon fill would represent $1.00 in advertised savings, 15 gallons would represent $1.50, and 20 gallons would represent $2.00. These examples help compare the Walmart+ benefit with the value you expect from Rewards+ points, but they are not guarantees of the final amount charged.

- Ideal for Gifting
- Ideal for a bookworm

The actual result depends on the participating station, the price shown in the Walmart app and pump, local fuel-pricing rules and the program terms in effect when you pay. The discount is described across fuel grades, so choosing regular, midgrade or premium does not create a different stated per-gallon rate in ExxonMobil’s description. Taxes, posted prices and any other transaction details still affect the total bill.
For a reliable comparison, look at the member price before you authorize the pump. If you cannot see the Walmart+ offer, stop and resolve the eligibility or app issue first. Do not calculate an expected discount from the station count alone, because “nearly 12,000” is a program claim and not a list of guaranteed participating locations.
Why Rewards+ points do not appear on a Walmart+ purchase
The Walmart+ discount is applied through Walmart’s fuel-payment flow. ExxonMobil’s published rule excludes combining that savings with Exxon Mobil Rewards+ and says points are not earned for future savings. Therefore, entering a Rewards+ account number, scanning a Rewards+ code or paying with a card associated with that account should not be presented as a way to create a second benefit. The official guidance does not establish such a workaround.
If points are important to you, decide before you begin:
Recommended Free Tools
- Use the Walmart app and accept the Walmart+ price reduction, with no Rewards+ points for that transaction; or
- Use the Exxon Mobil Rewards+ program according to its current app and account instructions and accept that the Walmart+ discount is not established for that purchase.
For Rewards+ eligibility, account rules and current offers, consult ExxonMobil’s Exxon Mobil Gas Rewards FAQs and its Rewards+ sign-up page. Those pages govern the Rewards+ program separately from Walmart+.
Walmart+ versus Rewards+: which should you use?
| If you value… | Use this flow | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| An advertised per-gallon reduction at an eligible Exxon or Mobil station | Walmart app → Services → Walmart+ Member benefits → Member prices on fuel | You give up Rewards+ points on that purchase. |
| Exxon Mobil Rewards+ points or Rewards+ offers | The Exxon Mobil Rewards+ app and account instructions | The official materials do not establish the Walmart+ discount on the same purchase. |
| Both benefits on one fill-up | No supported method | The programs’ published rules say the benefits cannot be combined. |
The better choice depends on the value you can actually use. A 10-cent-per-gallon discount is straightforward to estimate, while the value of Rewards+ points depends on the current Rewards+ earning and redemption terms. Neither program’s official guidance supports stacking them for a single transaction.
Using a different program on a later visit
You can choose Walmart+ for one visit and Rewards+ for another; the restriction concerns combining benefits on the same transaction. Before each fill-up, decide which account and app you intend to use, then complete that program’s prompts from the start. Switching apps after authorization is not a supported way to add a second discount or credit points retroactively.
Rank #3
If you regularly visit several stations, check eligibility each time rather than assuming a nearby location has the same offer. Walmart says station availability and redemption steps can vary, and ExxonMobil’s station-count statement does not identify every participating address. Save the receipt or in-app transaction record when the price matters, especially if the pump display and app show different information.
Troubleshooting the Walmart+ redemption
The station does not show a Walmart+ option
Participation is not universal. Confirm that the location is a participating Exxon or Mobil branded station and check the Walmart app’s fuel-benefits screen. Walmart states that availability and redemption steps vary by station. If the app does not offer the fuel-savings flow, do not assume that manually presenting a Rewards+ code will produce the Walmart+ price.
The QR code will not scan
Make sure you are using the Walmart app’s Member prices on fuel flow and that the pump QR code is fully visible. Follow the station-specific instructions shown in the app or at the pump. If the transaction cannot be established before fueling, pay attention to the price displayed at the pump rather than beginning a fill-up on the assumption that the discount will be added later.
The app asks for a pump number
Enter the number printed on the physical pump, not a nearby pump or a number from a previous visit. The ExxonMobil flow specifically calls for entering the pump number after selecting fuel savings in the Walmart app. Recheck the number before selecting payment and fuel grade.
The price does not look discounted
Stop before fueling if the app or pump does not confirm the expected member price. Check that you are signed in to the Walmart+ account, selected the correct station and completed the payment and fuel-grade prompts. Participation, local pricing and program terms can affect the offer. Keep the transaction details and consult the Walmart help page if the completed transaction does not reflect the price shown during redemption.
You expected Rewards+ points
A Walmart+ discounted transaction is not a Rewards+ earning transaction under ExxonMobil’s stated rule. Check the program choice before fueling; switching apps after the purchase cannot be relied on to add points retroactively.
Payment and account considerations
The Walmart flow asks you to select a payment method in the app. The available sources do not establish that a particular credit card, debit card or other payment choice can make the two loyalty benefits stack. Choose the payment method offered by the Walmart app, then verify the pump and grade before authorizing fuel.
Rank #4
Keep the Walmart+ and Rewards+ accounts conceptually separate. Walmart+ membership is relevant to the Walmart app benefit; Rewards+ enrollment is relevant to ExxonMobil’s points program. Using the same email address or payment card for both accounts does not constitute an official link, and the operator guidance does not say that matching account details transfer benefits.

The Walmart help page, ExxonMobil Walmart+ page and Walmart terms referenced here were checked on October 9, 2026. The ExxonMobil page does not state a publication year for its 10-cent and nearly-12,000-station claim, so it should be read as a current vendor-stated benefit rather than a dated independent statistic. Station participation, app labels, discount amounts, payment prompts and state-law requirements may change.

Frequently asked questions
Can I connect the same email address to both programs?
You may have separate accounts, but using the same email address or payment card does not create an official link or transfer benefits. The operators do not describe account matching as a way to combine discounts and points.
Will scanning my Rewards+ code after the Walmart+ transaction add points?
No supported procedure says it will. ExxonMobil states that Walmart+ savings cannot be combined with Rewards+ and that no points are earned for future savings. Choose the program before fueling.
Does the Walmart+ discount apply to every fuel grade?
ExxonMobil describes the advertised 10-cent-per-gallon benefit as applying across fuel grades at participating Exxon and Mobil branded stations. The price and participation still depend on the location and current terms.

Can I use a credit card linked to Rewards+ while taking the Walmart+ discount?
The payment method is selected in the Walmart app, but the published guidance does not establish that any card can make the two loyalty benefits stack. A linked card should not be treated as a Rewards+ earning workaround.
Where should I ask about a missing discount or points?
For Walmart+ redemption or member-price issues, start with Walmart’s current fuel-benefit help page. For Rewards+ enrollment, points and offers, use ExxonMobil’s Rewards+ FAQs and sign-up guidance. Keep your receipt and transaction details when requesting help.
The practical answer
There is no supported way to link Walmart+ to Exxon Mobil Rewards+ for combined fuel savings. At an eligible Exxon or Mobil station, open the Walmart app, use Services → Walmart+ Member benefits → Member prices on fuel, scan the pump QR code when prompted, enter the pump number, choose payment and fuel grade, and then start fueling. That purchase uses the Walmart+ benefit and does not earn Exxon Mobil Rewards+ points. To earn Rewards+ points instead, use the separate Rewards+ program flow and do not expect the Walmart+ discount to be added.
