Change the registered email address and mobile number through the GST Portal’s Services > Registration > Amendment of Registration Non-Core Fields application. Select the record that holds the contact details, verify the new details with the OTP or OTPs shown by the portal, complete the declaration and submit.
The GST Portal’s official guide says a successfully filed non-core amendment is auto-approved, without tax-official processing. An acknowledgement is expected at the updated contacts within 15 minutes of successful filing. The exact screens can change, so use the current prompts displayed after you sign in.

Choose the correct amendment route
Email and mobile changes are treated as a non-core amendment. The editing tab depends on how the people in your registration are recorded. Choosing the wrong record can leave the intended contact details unchanged.

The practical decision is therefore simple: identify the record that owns the contact details before you edit. A direct authorized-signatory change uses one common OTP as described by the manual. The special promoter/partner route uses two separate OTPs and then carries the verified values into the Authorized Signatory tab.

Check these conditions before starting
Have access to both new contact channels
The verification step uses the new details. Keep the new mobile phone available and make sure you can open the new email account while the application is in progress. Do not give an OTP to another person, even if someone claims to be helping with the amendment.
Enter the address and number carefully. A single incorrect character can send the code or the later acknowledgement to a channel you cannot access. If the portal displays the entered values before verification, compare them with the intended details before requesting or entering a code.
Confirm that this is a contact-detail change
The non-core application is for information classified as non-core, including the relevant email and mobile fields. It is not the application for changing the business address. If the address is the information you need to change, this procedure will not edit it.
Do not expect an email or mobile update to alter other registration particulars. The purpose of this application is to amend the non-core contact information represented in the selected record.
Check for applications that block filing
The guide identifies a pending Application for Withdrawal from Registration under Rule 14A (REG-32) as a block to filing a non-core amendment. If such an application is pending, the portal will not accept this amendment until that blocking condition is no longer present.
If filing is blocked, note the message exactly as displayed. Starting another amendment will not bypass a pending REG-32 condition, and repeatedly entering OTPs will not resolve a filing block.

If a core-field amendment has already been filed and is awaiting approval, the portal may display a message when you try to file a non-core amendment. If you continue, the form will not reflect changes contained in that pending core application. Review the information shown before submitting so you do not mistake an older value for the current one.
This warning matters when the core application changes who is listed or which information appears in the registration. Compare the non-core form with the details you intend to retain, and understand that the pending core application’s changes are not automatically copied into this amendment.
Prepare for the session
- Keep the GST Portal sign-in credentials for the relevant registration available.
- Have uninterrupted access to the new mobile number and the new email account.
- Know whether the person is listed as an authorized signatory, a promoter or partner, or both.
- Check whether a Rule 14A REG-32 withdrawal application is pending.
- Review any warning about a core-field amendment awaiting approval before deciding whether to continue.
- Plan to complete the OTP step during the same session, because the direct authorized-signatory OTP is described as valid for 10 minutes.
These checks do not replace the portal’s validation. They simply help you choose the correct record and avoid abandoning a verification step because the required channel is unavailable.

Step-by-step: update the authorized signatory’s details
Use this sequence when the email address and mobile number are held on the authorized signatory record you need to edit.

- Sign in to the GST Portal. Use the taxpayer account associated with the registration you want to amend.
- Open the non-core amendment. From the main navigation, select Services > Registration > Amendment of Registration Non-Core Fields. This is the application identified by the official guide for changing registration information that does not require tax-official approval.
- Open the Authorized Signatory tab. Find the signatory whose contact details must change. Select that person’s Edit action rather than editing a different person’s record.
- Enter the new mobile number and email address. Check each character before saving. The contact information entered here is the information used for the verification prompt and for later portal communications to the primary authorized signatory.
- Save the edited record. The portal will move to its verification step. The official instructions describe a common OTP being sent to the updated mobile and email for this authorized-signatory path.
- Enter the OTP within the validity period. The guide says the common OTP is valid for 10 minutes. If the live portal presents a different prompt or timing message, follow that current on-screen instruction rather than relying on an older screen layout.
- Complete the application verification fields. Select the authorized signatory shown for verification and enter the place requested by the form. Check that the selected signatory is the person whose contact details you edited.
- Submit the amendment. Review the information and submit the application through the portal’s final verification action. A successful filing creates the non-core amendment record.
Before the final action, read the displayed values once more. Confirm that the new email address is complete, that the mobile number has no transposed digits, and that the selected signatory is the intended record. The form’s verification selection and place entry are part of the application completion, not optional notes.
The guide states that “Amendment to Non-Core fields does not require approval by the Tax Official.” That means the filed application is described as auto-approved rather than routed for tax-officer processing.
When the promoter or partner is also the primary authorized signatory
The portal uses a separate sequence when the same individual appears as a promoter or partner and as the primary authorized signatory. Editing only the Authorized Signatory tab in this situation may not be the route shown by the official instructions.
- Open Services > Registration > Amendment of Registration Non-Core Fields after signing in.
- Select the Promoter/Partner tab.
- Locate the person who is also the primary authorized signatory and choose Edit.
- Enter that person’s new mobile number and email address, then save.
- Enter the two separate OTPs sent to the new mobile number and new email address. These are distinct verification codes, not one combined code.
- Complete the portal’s verification fields and confirm the updated record.
- Check the Authorized Signatory tab. The guide says the updated data is reflected there after the promoter/partner verification.
- Submit the non-core amendment to finish the change.
Keep the two delivery channels open until both codes have been entered. If one code arrives before the other, use the field indicated by the portal and do not assume that the first code can be reused for both destinations.

Using temporary ID credentials
The official manual says a user with temporary ID credentials can access the non-core amendment route and directs that user to the Authorized Signatory tab to update the mobile number and email address. It does not set out every eligibility condition for temporary-ID users.
Accordingly, sign in with the temporary credentials, open the same non-core amendment menu, and follow the Authorized Signatory editing and verification prompts that the portal displays. Do not assume that every temporary-ID situation is eligible simply because the menu is visible; rely on the registration and account information shown in your session.
If the temporary-ID session does not show the expected record or verification action, avoid selecting an unrelated person’s details merely to proceed. The manual confirms the route, but the live account determines which registration data and permissions are available.
OTP verification: what to expect
Authorized-signatory editing
For the direct Authorized Signatory path, the guide describes one common OTP sent to both updated channels and gives it a 10-minute validity period. Enter it during the same amendment session. A code sent to the old contact details is not the behavior described for this path.

Promoter/partner editing
For the combined promoter/partner and primary-authorized-signatory situation, the guide describes two different OTPs: one delivered to the new number and another delivered to the new email address. Enter each code in the field requested by the portal.
Security rules
An OTP authorizes the verification event that generated it. Do not forward it, read it aloud to an unverified helper, or enter it into a website other than the GST Portal session you opened yourself. If someone asks for the code in order to “complete” the amendment, stop and continue through the portal directly.
If the live screen differs
Portal labels and prompts can be revised. The official manual’s route and OTP descriptions explain the intended process, but the current session is authoritative for which field appears next, how a code is labelled, and whether the portal requests an additional confirmation. Follow those prompts and never disclose a code to anyone.
What happens after submission
Automatic approval
The official guide says a successfully filed amendment to non-core fields is auto-approved and does not require tax-official processing. This is different from waiting for an officer to review the contact-detail change.
Auto-approval does not mean the form can be submitted without verification. The OTP step, application verification fields, and final submission still have to be completed successfully.
Acknowledgement timing
The guide says an acknowledgement should be sent to the registered email address and mobile number within 15 minutes after successful filing. Because you are changing those channels, monitor the new email inbox and the new mobile number for the acknowledgement.
Keep the on-screen confirmation, acknowledgement, or submission reference available. It provides a record of the filing while you confirm that the updated values are reflected in the registration.

Future GST Portal communications
The official FAQ states that future portal communications go to the updated mobile number and email address of the primary authorized signatory. Updating a different person’s record does not produce that result unless that person is the primary authorized signatory in the registration data.
This is why selecting the correct person matters even when another promoter, partner, or signatory also has contact fields in the registration. The destination for future communications follows the primary authorized signatory identified in the registration.
Common problems and how to diagnose them
The intended person is not listed under the tab you opened
Recheck the relationship in the registration. The direct route edits the Authorized Signatory record. The special route edits the Promoter/Partner record when that same person is also the primary authorized signatory. The two paths are not interchangeable in the guide.

The portal will not let you file the amendment
Check whether a Rule 14A REG-32 withdrawal application is pending. The guide identifies that pending application as a filing block. Also check whether a core-field amendment is awaiting approval; the portal may warn that information from the pending core application will not appear in the non-core form.
You are trying to change the business address
Stop using the non-core application for that purpose. The guide expressly says the business address cannot be edited through this amendment. The contact-detail procedure will not substitute for an address amendment.
The OTP prompt does not match the expected pattern
First identify which editing path you selected. A common OTP is described for direct authorized-signatory editing, while two separate OTPs are described for the promoter/partner route. If the current portal shows a different instruction, follow the live prompt and its validity period.
One OTP arrives but the other does not
Confirm that you are using the promoter/partner route and that you are checking both the new mobile number and the new email account. Do not enter the same code in both fields when the portal requests two distinct codes. If the portal’s current instructions differ, follow those instructions rather than an older sequence.
The new contact value appears in one place but not another
In the combined promoter/partner case, the guide says the verified values are reflected in the Authorized Signatory tab before submission. Check that tab and complete the final submission. In every case, ensure that the amendment reached the submitted state instead of being left as an unfinished edit.

No acknowledgement appears after filing
The official expectation is delivery within 15 minutes of successful filing. Confirm that the amendment actually reached the final submitted state and check both updated channels, including the email account’s filtered or junk folders. Keep any on-screen submission reference or acknowledgement available when checking the application again.
You entered the wrong value before verification
Do not submit an amendment with a known error. Review the edit screen and correct the value before saving or final submission. If the portal has already accepted the filing, retain the acknowledgement and use the same non-core amendment route to correct the registration data shown in the live account.

- Save a copy of the final details you entered so the registration record can be reconciled with your internal records.
- Tell the primary authorized signatory that future portal communications are expected at the updated contacts.
- Do not forward or disclose OTPs; an OTP is for the verification session that generated it.
- Note whether you used the Authorized Signatory or Promoter/Partner route, so the filing history explains why the verification used one code or two.
