“AMC name” can refer to three different things: your legal name in a mutual-fund folio, the Asset Management Company’s own name after a rename or merger, or the label displayed by a portfolio-tracking app. These records are controlled by different parties. Changing a label in an app does not amend the AMC’s folio, KYC or PAN records.
Use the workflow below to identify which record is wrong, correct the official mutual-fund data through the relevant AMC or registrar and transfer agent (RTA), and then refresh the tracker only after the official record is accurate.

First identify which “AMC name” is wrong
Before submitting anything, compare the name shown in your account with the name on an official statement, transaction confirmation or consolidated account statement (CAS). The same wording can describe entirely different corrections.

If an official statement has the correct fund-house and investor information but the app does not, treat the matter as a tracker-display issue. If the official folio record is wrong, start with the AMC or RTA even if the app also shows the error.

What to collect before requesting a correction
Make a list of every folio that may be affected. A name change in one fund house is not automatically a change in every other fund house, and the available fund disclosures do not establish that one submission updates all AMCs.
- Folio number for each affected investment.
- The exact name currently displayed and the exact name that should appear.
- AMC and RTA name for each folio.
- PAN and the identity or tax record against which the corrected name should match.
- A recent statement, transaction confirmation or CAS showing the discrepancy.
- Any official notice if the issue concerns an AMC rename, merger or rebrand.
- A record of when you contacted the AMC, RTA, KYC Registration Agency (KRA), Central KYC Records Registry (CKYC) service or tracker.
Do not assume that a screenshot from a portfolio app is proof of an official folio error. Use the app screenshot to describe the symptom, then verify the underlying record with an AMC, RTA or statement.
Correcting your legal name in a mutual-fund folio
1. Identify the servicing AMC or RTA
Look at the statement or transaction confirmation for the fund house and its servicing RTA. Contact that organisation using its current official channels and explain that the investor name in one or more folios needs correction. Ask for the current name-change or detail-update form, submission route and accepted evidence for your situation.
There is no single document list that can responsibly be applied to every fund house. Requirements can depend on whether the change is a typographical correction, a legal name change, a change in constitution, or another status update. The Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC Statement of Additional Information (SAI) states: “Any change in these details like change of Name / Address / Status /Signature, etc. should be given by Investor directly in the prescribed manner.” That instruction is fund-specific; obtain the applicable form and evidence list from your own AMC or RTA.
2. Make the corrected name consistent with PAN and tax records
The Helios Mutual Fund SAI says that names and dates of birth or incorporation in applications and KYC forms should be recorded as they appear with PAN and the Income Tax Department, and that mutual funds validate those details against PAN. Use that as a reason to check the source data before filing a folio correction.
Compare the spelling, order of names, initials, date of birth or incorporation and entity status across your PAN record, KYC information and the folio. If PAN itself contains the old or incorrect information, ask the appropriate tax or KYC service about correcting that record first. Do not submit a name that conflicts with the PAN-linked information and expect the mismatch to disappear automatically.

3. Notify the AMC or RTA even after a KRA or CKYC update
An update in KRA or CKYC is not a substitute for notifying every mutual-fund record. The cited Helios SAI specifically recommends separately intimating the AMC or RTA with your PAN and folio details when PAN information has been updated with KRA or CKYC.
Include the folio numbers and PAN in the AMC or RTA request, and state that the KYC record has changed if that is relevant. Keep the acknowledgement, reference number or submission receipt. Do not infer from a successful KYC update that all existing folios have already been amended.
4. Submit only through the prescribed process
Follow the current instructions supplied by the AMC or RTA. Depending on the fund house and the nature of the change, the prescribed route may involve a form, identity evidence, signatures or an authenticated electronic submission; the sources available for this topic do not establish a universal route.
Use the name exactly as required by the form and supporting record. If the fund house asks for signatures, use the signature held on its record or follow its stated procedure for changing the signature as well. Avoid sending sensitive documents to an address found in an old email or an unauthorised website.
5. Verify the official record after processing
Request or download a fresh statement, transaction confirmation or other AMC/RTA confirmation after the request is processed. Check every affected folio, not just the one used in the original request. The corrected investor name should agree with the PAN and KYC information you intended to establish.
No universal processing time is established by the cited material. One fund disclosure may mention a confirmation period for a particular KYC event, but that is not a general deadline for every AMC or name correction. If the fund house gives you a case number, use it when asking for status rather than submitting duplicate requests.

When the AMC itself has changed its name
A fund-house label can change for a legal rename, a brand rebrand, a merger or an acquisition. Those events are not the same as changing the investor’s name. The material available here does not document a particular AMC name change, so do not rely on an unverified “old name to new name” mapping.
Use the fund house’s notice as the starting point
Find the relevant official notice or current AMC communication and confirm whether it describes a legal-entity change, a brand-only change, a merger or another transaction. Check the notice date, the effective date and the current contact details. If you cannot establish that the notice belongs to the fund house connected to your folio, ask the AMC or RTA to confirm it.
Separate folio continuity from the label
A renamed fund house may continue servicing the same folios, while a portfolio app may retain the former label until its reference data is refreshed. Do not open a new folio, alter your investor name or resubmit KYC merely because an app displays an old AMC name. Ask the fund house whether your folio number, statements and servicing arrangements remain unchanged.

Ask the tracker provider about its data source
If the AMC’s official statements use the current name but the app uses the former one, report the discrepancy to the tracker with the fund name, scheme, folio or import identifier and a screenshot that does not expose unnecessary personal information. The tracker may need to update its security-master or AMC mapping; only the provider can state whether it supports that correction.
Refreshing a portfolio tracker without changing official records
A tracker normally displays data imported from a statement, an account connection, a registrar feed or its own fund database. Because no tracker is named here, there is no single set of menu labels or commands that can be guaranteed. Use the provider’s current help or support process for the product you use.
Check the source before refreshing
- Open the latest statement or CAS and note the AMC name, scheme name, folio and transaction date.
- Compare those details with the tracker’s holding. Record whether only the AMC label differs or whether units, folio numbers, cost data or transactions also differ.
- Use the tracker’s documented refresh, re-import or account-sync function, if available.
- If the provider supports deleting and re-adding a connection, read its warning about duplicate holdings before taking that step.
- Contact support when a refresh does not change the label, supplying the verified official name and the relevant identifier without sending credentials.
Refreshing or editing an app does not send a name-change instruction to an AMC, RTA, KRA, CKYC service or tax authority. Treat the tracker as a viewing and analysis layer unless its provider explicitly documents a regulated account-update workflow.

How CAS helps verify the official position
SEBI Investor defines a Consolidated Account Statement as “a single/ combined account statement which shows the details of transactions made by an investor during a month across all Mutual Funds and also other securities held in their demat account(s).” You can read the explanation on SEBI Investor’s Consolidated Account Statement page.

It is a consolidated statement, not a control panel for editing an AMC or investor name. SEBI’s investor guidance also ties CAS delivery to PAN being updated with the relevant depository participant or stockbroker. If your demat-linked visibility is incomplete, confirm that PAN information with the depository participant or stockbroker as directed by SEBI.
Use CAS alongside, rather than instead of, an AMC/RTA statement. A consolidated view can reveal holdings and transactions across fund houses, while the servicing AMC or RTA remains the party to contact for a folio-level correction.
If you hold several folios or fund houses
Handle each servicing relationship separately unless an official communication expressly says otherwise. Create a simple tracking table so that a completed request for one folio is not mistaken for a portfolio-wide correction.

Do not assume that a corrected name in one AMC proves that another AMC has updated its folio. Compare each official statement and keep the evidence attached to the relevant row.

Troubleshooting common symptoms
The app shows an old AMC name, but statements are correct
This points to a display-data or synchronization issue. Refresh or re-import according to the tracker’s instructions, then ask its support team to update the AMC mapping if the old label persists. There is no reason to file a personal-name correction solely because an app uses a former fund-house label.

The app and the AMC statement both show the wrong investor name
Start with the AMC or RTA. Obtain its prescribed correction process, align the intended name with PAN and KYC records, submit the request with the affected folio details, and verify a new official statement before changing the tracker.
PAN or KYC was corrected, but the folio still shows the old name
Separately notify the AMC or RTA with PAN and folio details, as the Helios SAI recommends. Keep proof of the KRA or CKYC update and the AMC/RTA submission. A KYC update alone should not be treated as confirmation that every folio has changed.
Only one folio is wrong
Identify that folio’s servicing AMC or RTA and submit a folio-specific request. Do not submit a blanket request to an unrelated fund house unless its own instructions say that it services the affected record.

Do not edit the tracker to force a preferred label. Obtain an official fund-house notice or confirmation, check its effective date and ask the tracker provider how it handles the change.
A practical completion checklist
- Classify the issue as an investor-name correction, AMC rename or tracker-only label.
- Verify the discrepancy against an official statement or CAS.
- List every affected AMC, RTA and folio.
- Check that the intended name agrees with PAN and KYC information.
- Ask each AMC or RTA for its current prescribed form, evidence requirements and submission channel.
- If KRA or CKYC data changed, separately provide PAN and folio details to the AMC or RTA.
- Keep acknowledgements and case references.
- Confirm the corrected information in a new official statement or AMC/RTA confirmation.
- Only then refresh or report the issue to the portfolio tracker.
- Check CAS and, where relevant, PAN records held by your depository participant or stockbroker for consolidated visibility.
The key control point is the official folio record. A tracker can help you find discrepancies and monitor holdings, but its displayed AMC name is not evidence that the AMC, RTA, KYC record or PAN record has changed.
