Start by separating a failed settlement from a delayed one. A failed transfer did not complete and leaves the USDC on the source wallet; a delayed transfer has started but is still processing. In both cases, copy the transaction hash into the relevant block explorer before retrying. The hash, confirmation count, selected networks, balances and wallet display usually reveal whether the problem is a rejected request, a slow network, or coins that arrived but are hidden in the wallet.
Failed and delayed mean different things
The status shown by a bridge, exchange or wallet determines the safest next action. Circle describes a failed transfer as one that did not complete and left the USDC on the source wallet. A delayed transfer has begun and is still being completed on the network. Treating a delay as a failure and submitting another transfer can create confusion or a duplicate request, while treating a genuine failure as a delay can leave you waiting for a transaction that never entered the chain.

What a failed settlement indicates
A failed status means the requested operation did not complete. Check the source wallet balance: if the USDC remains there, the transfer was not settled. Read the displayed error before trying again. The error may point to an insufficient balance, missing gas, an unsupported network, or a temporary service problem. Keep the original transaction hash or request identifier, even when the interface labels the attempt as failed.

A delayed status means the bridge or settlement process has started, but completion is still pending on the network. Circle’s Help Center states: “If your transaction is delayed, the bridge process has started, but your transfer is still being completed on the network.” A delay is not evidence that the funds disappeared. Circle also says, “Your funds are not lost. Most delayed transactions will complete automatically.” Confirmations that continue to increase are the strongest sign that you should keep monitoring rather than submit a second transfer.

First response: preserve evidence and avoid an unnecessary retry
Before changing anything, capture the status screen and the error text. Record the amount, source and destination networks, wallet address, time submitted and the transaction hash. Do not retry solely because the interface has not refreshed. A second request can make it harder to identify which transaction is authoritative.
- Copy the complete transaction hash, without spaces or altered characters.
- Note whether the status says failed, delayed, pending, submitted or complete.
- Confirm which wallet address sent the funds and which address should receive them.
- Write down the source and destination networks selected in the bridge or exchange.
- Keep the browser tab, wallet app and provider version available for support.
Inspect the transaction on-chain
The block explorer is the first diagnostic because it shows what the network recorded, rather than what a wallet interface currently displays. Paste the hash into the explorer for the source network and, when a destination transaction is supplied, the explorer for the destination network as well. Coinbase gives the same basic instruction for pending transfers: look up the transaction in a block explorer and check its progress.
How to read the explorer result
- Open the source-network explorer. Use the explorer associated with the network on which you initiated the transfer. Paste the hash into its search field.
- Check the status. Look for a failed, pending or successful result. A failed on-chain transaction is different from an interface error that never produced a transaction.
- Watch confirmations. Record the current confirmation count, then check again after a reasonable interval. Increasing confirmations show that the transaction is progressing through the network.
- Check the sender, recipient and token. Verify that the wallet address, destination address and USDC contract or token entry match the request. A completed transaction to a different address cannot be corrected from the wallet interface.
- Follow any destination transaction. Bridges may show a source transaction first and a separate destination-side transaction later. If the bridge supplies a second hash, inspect it on the destination network.
What the common explorer outcomes mean
- No transaction found: the request may have failed before it was broadcast, or the hash may belong to a different network. Recheck the copied hash and selected source network before contacting support.
- Pending with confirmations increasing: the transaction is moving through the network. Continue monitoring and do not submit a duplicate while the confirmations advance.
- Failed on-chain: the network rejected the transaction. Save the failure reason shown by the explorer and review balance, gas, network and token requirements before a new attempt.
- Successful source transaction but no destination credit: the source leg completed, while the bridge, destination network or wallet display may still require attention. Check the destination hash, network and token visibility.
- Successful transfer to the wrong address: blockchain transactions are generally final and cannot be canceled, reversed or changed once confirmed. Recovery depends on the recipient and is not something the sending wallet can undo.
Verify balances, gas and network selection
Many visible settlement failures are caused by a mismatch between the requested route and the wallet’s actual balances or network connection. Check both the stablecoin balance and the native token used to pay network fees. Having enough USDC does not guarantee that the wallet can submit the transaction if it has no native gas token.

Check the source wallet
- Confirm that the source wallet holds enough USDC for the amount being sent and any amount the provider requires to remain available.
- Confirm that the wallet holds enough of the source network’s native token for gas. Gas is separate from the USDC balance.
- Make sure the connected account is the account that owns the USDC. A browser wallet can display several accounts while the bridge is connected to only one.
- Compare the selected source network with the network shown for the transaction hash. A correct address on the wrong network is still a different settlement route.
Check the destination route
- Verify that the destination network is supported by the bridge or service you used.
- Confirm that the receiving wallet can hold USDC on that network.
- Check whether the destination wallet also needs native gas for a later swap or transfer. This does not normally explain a missing deposit, but it can prevent the next action after settlement.
- Make sure the bridge has not been left on a different destination network after the wallet changed networks.
When the transaction completed but the USDC is missing
A successful destination transaction does not always make the token appear immediately in the wallet’s asset list. The coins can be present on-chain while the wallet is connected to another network, has not refreshed, or does not automatically display that USDC token.
Restore the correct network view
- Switch the wallet to the exact destination network shown by the successful transaction.
- Refresh the wallet view. If the balance remains absent, close and restart the wallet extension or mobile app.
- Open the asset or token-management screen and search for USDC on that network.
- If the wallet requires it, add the supported USDC token manually using the token information provided by the bridge or the network’s official documentation.
- Recheck the destination address in the explorer. The wallet address must match the address that received the transaction.
Do not import a token merely because its name is USDC. Confirm that the token is the one used by the settlement route and that the wallet is on the destination network. A token display entry does not move funds; it only tells the wallet to show an asset that is already recorded at the address.
Allow for network and bridge infrastructure delays
A transfer can remain pending even when your balances and settings are correct. Circle and other settlement providers identify several infrastructure causes: network congestion, gas-price spikes, node or RPC outages, temporary service interruptions and bridge capacity limits. These conditions can slow submission, confirmation or the destination-side release.

Use confirmations to decide whether to wait
If the confirmation count is increasing, the network is processing the transaction. Keep the hash available and monitor it at intervals rather than repeatedly submitting the same request. If confirmations stop increasing, the explorer shows a service-wide warning, or the provider reports an outage, wait for the documented route threshold before escalating.
Do not confuse a slow interface with a slow chain
A wallet or bridge dashboard can lag behind the explorer. When the explorer shows a successful destination transaction, the missing balance is a wallet-display or network-selection problem until proven otherwise. Conversely, a dashboard marked complete without a corresponding destination transaction requires checking the source and destination hashes and then contacting the provider with the evidence.
How long should a stablecoin settlement take?
Timing depends on the network route and the product path. Circle’s 2026 USDC Bridge support documentation gives the following typical figures. They are route-specific, can change, and should not be treated as a universal guarantee for every USDC transfer.

| Standard transfer on Codex | Approximately 15–19 minutes | Contact support at about 20 minutes |
| Standard transfer on Ethereum | Approximately 15–19 minutes | Contact support at about 20 minutes |

| Fast Transfer on Base | Approximately 8 seconds | Use the route-specific threshold supplied by the provider if it does not complete |
| Standard transfer on Avalanche | Approximately 8 seconds | Use the route-specific threshold supplied by the provider if it does not complete |
The figures describe typical standard or fast paths in Circle’s documentation, not a promise that every transfer will settle within that interval. A congested network, an RPC problem, a service interruption or a bridge capacity limit can extend the wait. Use the exact route and product name shown in your transaction when applying a support threshold.

If the status is failed
- Read the displayed error and save it.
- Check whether the USDC remains in the source wallet.
- Search the transaction hash on the source-network explorer.
- If no transaction was broadcast, correct the stated issue: source balance, native gas, wallet connection, network selection or token support.
- If the explorer records an on-chain failure, save its failure reason and do not keep retrying unchanged settings.
- Retry only after confirming the route, wallet and balances. If the same failure repeats, escalate with the complete transaction context.
If the status is delayed or pending
- Search the hash on the source explorer and record confirmations.
- If confirmations are increasing, continue monitoring.
- Check for the destination hash and inspect it on the destination explorer.
- Compare the elapsed time with the route-specific guidance. Circle’s standard Arbitrum, Base, Codex and Ethereum routes list approximately 15–19 minutes and recommend support at about 20 minutes.
- If confirmations stop, the route exceeds its threshold, or the same request remains unresolved, contact support instead of submitting duplicates.
If the bridge says complete but the wallet shows no USDC
- Verify the destination transaction is successful on-chain.
- Switch the wallet to the destination network.
- Refresh or restart the wallet.
- Manually add the supported USDC token if the wallet does not list it automatically.
- Confirm that the receiving address in the explorer matches your wallet address.
When to contact support and what to send
Contact the bridge, exchange or wallet provider after the route-specific support threshold, when a transaction repeatedly fails, or when the explorer and provider dashboard disagree. A concise evidence package lets support distinguish a missing broadcast from a pending source leg, a completed destination leg or a wallet-display problem.

- Transaction hash or hashes, including any source and destination hashes.
- Sending and receiving wallet addresses.
- Source and destination networks.
- Date and time of the attempt, including the time zone when known.
- USDC amount and the exact status or error message.
- Wallet or provider name and version.
- Browser and operating system, or mobile client details.
- Screenshots showing the status and the explorer result, with sensitive recovery phrases and private keys removed.
Never send a seed phrase, private key or password to support. The transaction hash and public wallet address are the useful identifiers for this diagnosis.

Confirmed transfers cannot be reversed
Circle’s Help Center states: “Blockchain transactions are final once confirmed and cannot be canceled, reversed, or changed.” This matters when a settlement was sent to a wrong address or wrong network. First verify the recipient address, network and token in the explorer; do not assume that a missing wallet display means the transfer went to the wrong place. If the confirmed destination is genuinely incorrect, the sending service cannot reverse it. Any recovery would depend on the recipient or an intermediary that controls the destination address.
How to compare settlement routes before sending
If you regularly move stablecoins, compare routes on the factors that determine both speed and troubleshooting effort:
| Comparison factor | Question to answer before sending |
|---|---|
| Source and destination networks | Are both networks supported, and is the receiving wallet connected to the intended destination? |
| Standard versus fast path | Which product path did you select, and what completion time does the provider publish for that path? |
| Typical completion time | Does the route have a documented estimate, such as approximately 15–19 minutes or approximately 8 seconds in Circle’s 2026 figures? |
| Confirmations and finality | What explorer status and confirmation progress indicate that the source and destination legs are complete? |
| Gas and fees | Does the sending wallet hold the required native token in addition to the USDC amount? |
| Support threshold | At what elapsed time does the provider ask you to open a support case? |
| Destination-token display | Will the wallet show USDC automatically, or must you switch networks and add the token manually? |
These checks do not eliminate congestion or outages, but they prevent the most common user-side mistakes and give you a clear escalation point when a transfer does stall.
Quick Recap
Practical checklist
- Classify the status as failed or delayed.
- Read and save the error before retrying.
- Copy the transaction hash and inspect it on the correct source or destination explorer.
- Watch whether confirmations are increasing.
- Verify USDC balance and native gas balance.
- Confirm the connected wallet account and both network selections.
- If the destination transaction succeeded, switch networks, refresh the wallet and add the supported token if necessary.
- Allow for congestion, gas spikes, RPC or node outages, service interruptions and bridge capacity limits.
- Wait for the documented route threshold before escalating unless the transaction clearly failed or the addresses are wrong.
- Send support the hashes, addresses, networks, time, amount, provider/version, browser, operating system and client details.
- Remember that a confirmed blockchain transaction cannot be canceled or reversed.
