SBI’s DSB service information is on its official Doorstep Banking Services page, which was last updated 25 May 2026. Use that page rather than a third-party booking link when you need the current portal or app route.
Who can use the free senior-citizen terms?
SBI’s senior-citizen facilities document defines the relevant age threshold as 60 years and above. For that group, the document says the listed PSB Alliance doorstep services are free and its table shows no cap for life-certificate pickup. The current DSB page also shows no cap for this service for senior citizens.
A pensioner’s status and the senior-citizen age rule are not interchangeable. Step-by-step booking checklist
The following sequence keeps the request organised without pretending that SBI uses identical screens or forms for every customer.
- Confirm that pickup is the intended route. The pensioner should want an SBI DSB collection rather than branch submission or a digital Jeevan Pramaan route. If the pension-paying authority is not SBI, ask that authority whether it accepts the certificate collected through this service.
- Check the age category. Record whether the pensioner is 60 or older. SBI’s published free-service term applies to senior citizens aged 60 and above; non-senior pricing is displayed separately.

What SBI’s published information does—and does not—promise
SBI’s DSB page confirms the service category and the three access channels. It does not, in the material reviewed, verify all of the following for every address:
- same-day or next-day pickup;
- a guaranteed appointment date or time window;
- coverage in every town, village or branch service area;
- a fixed identity-document or pension-document list;
- that a particular app screen, portal field or upload option will appear;
- that collection alone completes acceptance by the pension-paying authority.
These are practical questions to ask at booking, not reasons to abandon the service. A representative can tell you what the live system currently supports for the pensioner’s location and account. If the answer changes from the online display, keep the representative’s reference number and ask which official channel should be used for escalation.
How to handle the acknowledgement and follow-up
At the time of booking
Write down the date, channel used, reference number, stated fee and any promised next action. If the request was made by phone, repeat the address and ask the representative to confirm the spelling. If it was made online, save the confirmation page and any message sent to the registered number.

When collection is completed
Keep the collector’s acknowledgement or collection confirmation with the pensioner’s records. The practical purpose is to show that the bank’s doorstep request reached a collection stage if a later status check is needed. SBI’s reviewed material does not prescribe one universal acknowledgement format, so preserve whatever official confirmation the service provides.

Use the original reference number and contact SBI through the DSB number or the official customer-care route. Explain whether the issue is a missed visit, an incorrect address, a fee dispute or uncertainty about whether the certificate was accepted. Ask for a status update and the next action rather than submitting duplicate requests immediately; duplicate bookings can make tracing the original request harder.

The table reflects what SBI’s pages describe, not a guarantee that every route remains available under the same rules. In particular, the older page says that re-employed pensioners and remarried family pensioners could submit only in physical format. Because that statement is from 2019, do not treat it as current without confirming with SBI or the pension-paying authority.
Choosing between doorstep pickup and a digital route
Doorstep pickup is usually the practical first enquiry when travel is difficult
For a pensioner who cannot easily reach a branch or enrolment centre, DSB is the only route in SBI’s current service material specifically framed around pickup from the customer. It gives three ways to start the request and, for eligible senior citizens, SBI publishes a free term with no cap shown for life-certificate pickup. The trade-off is that the live booking must establish coverage, timing and collection requirements.
A digital route may suit a pensioner who already has reliable access
Jeevan Pramaan or another digital option can be worth checking when the pensioner has access to the required authentication method and the pension authority accepts the result. A branch or centre can be a fallback when the service cannot be booked
If DSB is unavailable at the address, the pensioner can ask SBI or the pension-paying authority about branch submission or an authorised centre. The travel burden may be higher, but an in-person receipt can make the status easier to document. The address on the request is wrong
Contact the official channel with the reference number as soon as you notice the error. Read the corrected address back, including PIN code and landmark, and ask for written or electronic confirmation of the change. Do not create a second request unless SBI tells you to do so.
A family member is arranging the service
Explain that the booking is for the pensioner and ask what the bank needs from the caller. Keep the pensioner available for any verification. The reviewed sources do not establish a universal authorisation form, so follow the instructions given through the official channel.
