Use a fixed-price alert for a level that would change your investment review, then add a percentage, channel, or indicator alert when you need to detect an unusually fast move. Yahoo Finance is the quickest way to create a target-price push notification on iOS or Android. TradingView adds moving-up/down percentage conditions, channel boundaries, indicator alerts, configurable frequency, expiration, and delivery by app, browser pop-up, email, webhook, or sound. Fidelity and Schwab provide convenient alerts inside their brokerage tools, although their documented features are not presented as universal implied-volatility alerts.
Decide what the alert is supposed to tell you
An alert should answer a specific question, not merely announce that a quote changed. Before opening an app, write the price, percentage, or event that would make you review the company. For example, your question might be: “Has this stock reached the valuation level I planned to reassess?” “Has it moved more than a normal daily range over a defined bar window?” or “Has an earnings or company-news event occurred?”

This distinction matters for AI stocks because a fixed dollar move has a different meaning at different share prices. A $5 move is 25% for a $20 stock but only 2.5% for a $200 stock. Percentage conditions normalize the trigger, while a price level ties the alert to a specific thesis. Neither tells you by itself whether the business or its valuation is attractive.
| Alert type | What it detects | When it is useful | What it does not tell you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fixed price | A quote reaches a level above or below the current price | A planned review, entry, exit, support, or resistance level | Whether the move was fast, news-driven, or unusually volatile |
| Percentage move | A rise or fall by a specified percentage over a bar window | Comparing moves across AI stocks with different prices | Whether the percentage is large relative to that stock’s normal range |
| Channel boundary | Price or an indicator enters, exits, stays inside, or moves outside a defined channel | Monitoring a range associated with potential volatility | The reason the boundary was crossed |
| Indicator threshold | An indicator plot, such as ATR or standard deviation, reaches a chosen condition | Watching a measurable change in the chart’s volatility study | A guaranteed forecast of the next price move |
| Event alert | Earnings, company news, or another supported event | Adding context to a price or volatility trigger | The market’s eventual reaction to the event |
Set a target-price alert in Yahoo Finance
Yahoo Finance offers the most direct workflow when you simply want a push notification after an AI stock reaches a chosen price. The process is available on both iOS and Android, with slightly different labels.

iPhone and iPad
- Open Yahoo Finance and look up the company or ticker.
- Open the quote page and tap the Alerts icon.
- Enter the target price above or below the current quote.
- Save or create the alert.
- Allow the app to send notifications if your device asks for permission.
Yahoo’s iOS documentation states: “When your target is met, a push notification will be sent to your device.” Treat that notification as a prompt to review the stock, not as an instruction to trade. If the target was based on an old valuation or chart level, reassess the premise before acting.
Android
- Open the stock’s quote in Yahoo Finance.
- On the quote’s Summary tab, tap the Alerts icon.
- Choose Create new price alert.
- Enter the target price.
- Tap Done.
The Android workflow is especially useful when you want a single, understandable threshold for a stock such as NVDA or another AI-related company. Record why you chose the number so that the alert remains tied to a decision rather than becoming a permanent notification.
Add broader Yahoo notifications
Yahoo’s notification settings can cover more than a single target. For followed securities, the documented categories include high and low prices, significant price changes, earnings results, and company news. These categories are useful as a second layer: the price alert watches your thesis, while an event or significant-change alert tells you that the context may have changed.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsDo not enable every category for every symbol without a plan. A watchlist containing many volatile AI stocks can produce a stream of messages that obscures the one threshold you actually care about. Start with one price alert and one relevant event category, then add another trigger only if it answers a different question.
Use TradingView for percentage and volatility conditions
TradingView is better suited when a fixed price is too narrow. Its alert conditions include price levels, channel boundaries, moving-up and moving-down percentages, and technical-indicator values. You can also choose how often an alert may fire and when it expires.
Create a percentage-move condition
In the TradingView alert interface, choose the symbol and the moving-up or moving-down percentage condition. Specify the percentage and the bar window used to measure the move. A bar window makes the trigger time-aware: a 6% move over a short window is a different observation from a 6% move spread over many bars.
Use this condition when you want a comparable rule across stocks with different share prices. For example, a 4% move can be applied to several AI stocks without converting each rule into a different dollar amount. The percentage is still a screening signal; it does not establish that the move is abnormal for every company.

Use channel boundaries
TradingView documents channel conditions that can detect when price or an indicator enters, exits, remains inside, or moves outside a channel. Channels can define a range associated with potential volatility. A price channel can flag a break from a range, while a channel applied to an indicator can flag a change in the indicator’s behavior.
When setting a channel alert, decide which transition matters. An “outside” condition can identify a break beyond the range; an “inside” condition can identify a return to it; an “entering” or “exiting” condition can focus on the transition itself. Choose one deliberately so that the alert does not fire repeatedly for a state you only wanted to know about once.
Choose frequency and expiration
TradingView provides frequency controls and timer or expiration choices. Depending on the condition, you can select a one-time notification, a repeated notification, and an expiration point. A one-time alert is usually appropriate for a thesis level. A repeated alert may be appropriate for an ongoing channel condition, but it should have an expiration so that it does not survive indefinitely after the original setup becomes irrelevant.
Select the delivery method
TradingView lists several alert actions:
- Notify on App: delivers the alert through the mobile application.
- Show Pop-up: displays a browser notification while you are monitoring the platform.
- Send Email: creates an email record that can be reviewed later.
- Webhook URL: sends the alert to a compatible endpoint you control.
- Play Sound: adds an audible cue while the alert is active in the relevant interface.
Match delivery to your monitoring style. App notifications work when you are away from a chart. Pop-ups and sound fit an active desktop session. Email is useful when you want a searchable trail. A webhook is appropriate only when you already operate a service that can receive and process the message; creating a webhook does not by itself create an investment workflow.

A price alert tells you where the quote is. A volatility-indicator alert tells you that a chart study has reached a condition you selected. TradingView confirms that alerts can be created on indicator plots, strategies, and drawing objects. The study’s calculation and timeframe determine what the value means, so the same threshold can have different implications on different charts.
ATR-based setup
Average True Range, commonly abbreviated ATR, is a chart study that expresses the recent range behavior of an asset. To use it as an alert source, add the ATR study to the chart and create an alert on its plotted value or on a threshold you define. A rising ATR can be used as a review prompt for changing range conditions; it is not a directional forecast.
Standard-deviation setup
A standard-deviation study can serve a similar purpose by measuring dispersion over its selected lookback and timeframe. Add the study, decide which plot or threshold matters, and create the alert on that plot. Keep the timeframe in the alert description so you remember whether the signal came from an intraday chart or a longer-term chart.

Pair an indicator with a price or event alert
An indicator alert is most informative when paired with a separate price or event trigger. For example, an indicator threshold can tell you that range behavior is changing, while a price alert tells you that the stock reached the level tied to your thesis. An earnings or company-news alert can then provide a possible explanation for the timing. Avoid treating any one of these as proof of cause and effect.
Use alerts inside your brokerage account
Broker-native alerts are convenient because they sit next to the account where you may already review holdings. They are not identical to a dedicated charting system, so compare the trigger and delivery options before moving every alert into one platform.
Fidelity
Fidelity Active Trader Pro supports price alerts on stocks, exchange-traded funds, options, and mutual funds. Its documented trigger types include price movement and percentage change since close, with pop-up and sound delivery options. Fidelity Trader+ also supports dollar or percentage movement alerts and 52-week high and low triggers.
Use a dollar movement when the absolute change matters to your review and a percentage change when you want the rule to scale across securities. A 52-week trigger is a historical reference point, not a valuation conclusion. Fidelity’s documented tools should therefore be treated as price and range notifications rather than as a universal implied-volatility monitor.
Schwab Mobile
Schwab Mobile’s stock alerts can cover price changes, news, and events. Its mobile guidance also says that an alert can be edited to change the trigger parameters. That edit function is useful after a thesis changes: revise the existing alert rather than leaving an outdated rule active and creating a duplicate.

A practical three-alert setup for each AI stock
A small, repeatable set is easier to maintain than a wall of notifications. Begin with three different questions for each stock you actively follow.
- Thesis price: Create one fixed-price alert above or below the current quote at the level that would make you review your assumptions. Yahoo Finance is sufficient for this step.
- Move or range: Add one TradingView moving-up/down percentage condition or one channel-boundary alert. Use the percentage option when you want comparability across stocks; use a channel when the range itself is the object of interest.
- Context event: Add one earnings, company-news, or broker-supported event alert. This supplies context without forcing you to interpret every tick as a new development.
If volatility itself is central to your process, replace the second alert with an ATR or standard-deviation threshold, or add the indicator only after you have confirmed that the first three alerts remain manageable. Each additional alert should have a stated purpose.

Maintain and recalibrate alerts
An alert is a dated decision rule. Review it after a material change rather than allowing it to run forever.
After earnings or major company news
Revisit the price level, percentage window, and indicator threshold after an earnings result or major announcement. The original threshold may have been based on a pre-event price structure and no longer represent the decision you wanted to monitor. Yahoo’s earnings and company-news notifications, or Schwab’s event alerts, can serve as the reminder to perform that review.
After a stock split
A split changes the quoted share-price scale. Check every fixed-price threshold and any channel drawn from the old scale. Do not assume that an existing alert still expresses the same thesis simply because the ticker has not changed.
When an alert fires repeatedly
Repeated notifications usually indicate that the condition is state-based or that the frequency is too high for your purpose. In TradingView, adjust the frequency or add an expiration. For a one-time thesis review, select a one-time condition rather than a repeated one. If the alert is no longer relevant, delete it instead of muting the notification and forgetting it exists.
When the alert never fires
- Confirm that the target is actually above or below the current quote in the direction you intended.
- Check that the percentage condition uses the bar window you meant to monitor.
- Verify that an indicator alert is attached to the intended plot and timeframe.
- Review the expiration or timer; a valid condition that has expired will not notify you.
- Check that the chosen delivery action matches where you are watching: app, pop-up, email, webhook, or sound.
Worked examples using hypothetical prices
Example: a fixed review level
Assume an AI stock is quoted at $120 and your written thesis says you will reassess it at $135. Create a Yahoo Finance target-price alert at $135. The alert does not say “buy” or “sell”; it simply prevents you from relying on memory to notice the level.

- Comfortable Non-Slip Grip:The ergonomic pen barrel has a soft rubberized coating for a comfortable, non-slip grip, so you won't get fatigued even after long hours of writing.
Example: normalizing a move across stocks
Assume two AI stocks trade at $20 and $200. A $5 alert would represent very different percentage moves. In TradingView, create a moving-up or moving-down condition of 4% over the same bar window for both symbols. You now have a comparable move rule, while still recognizing that each stock can have a different normal range.
Example: separating range from catalyst
Assume a chart is moving inside a channel and you want to know when it leaves that range. Create a TradingView channel alert for the outside condition, then add a company-news or earnings alert through Yahoo Finance or Schwab. If both arrive close together, you have two separate observations to investigate rather than a single alert that implies a cause.
Example: indicator-based review
Assume you monitor ATR on a daily chart and want a review whenever the indicator crosses a threshold you selected. Add the ATR study, create the alert on its plot, and set an expiration. Record the chart timeframe in your notes. A threshold on a daily chart should not be read as if it came from an intraday chart.
What these alerts can and cannot measure
Price, percentage, channel, and indicator alerts measure conditions you define on market data. They are not a universal implied-volatility alert. The documented Fidelity and Schwab tools, in particular, are described in terms of price movement, percentage change, 52-week levels, news, and events rather than a single implied-volatility notification.
That limitation is useful to understand. A stock can move sharply without your selected indicator crossing its threshold, or an indicator can rise while price remains below your thesis level. Combining distinct triggers gives you more context, but it does not remove the need to inspect the chart, the company event, and your own assumptions.
Alert-fatigue checklist
- Give every alert a written purpose and a direction.
- Prefer one-time frequency for a single thesis level.
- Use an expiration for repeated or event-sensitive conditions.
- Keep one price, one percentage or channel, and one event alert per stock as a starting set.
- Delete or edit thresholds after earnings, splits, or major announcements.
- Use indicator alerts only when you know the study and timeframe behind the threshold.
- Choose delivery deliberately instead of enabling every available channel.
- Review an alert before acting; notification is not a trade instruction.
Bottom line
For the fastest setup, create a target-price push alert in Yahoo Finance. For percentage moves, channel boundaries, ATR or standard-deviation conditions, and flexible delivery, use TradingView. Fidelity and Schwab are sensible choices when you want alerts integrated with an existing brokerage account. The most durable workflow is a small set of clearly defined triggers that you recalibrate whenever the stock’s price structure or your thesis changes.
