In Great Britain, online operators must offer a gross deposit limit based only on deposits, with required periods of 24 hours, 7 days and 1 month. A decrease should take effect immediately; a requested increase requires a cooling-off period of at least 24 hours and your confirmation. How to set a deposit limit on an online bingo account
- Sign in and look under Safer Gambling, Responsible Gambling or account controls. Financial-limit facilities should be easy to reach from the operator’s homepage and deposit pages. If you cannot find the control, contact the operator’s customer service.
- Choose a limit based on what you can afford to lose, and check its duration and scope before confirming. In Great Britain, a deposit limit now means a cap on the gross amount paid into the account during a set period—not a cap on losses or net deposits. The rule change took effect on 30 June 2026. The Gambling Commission explains the change.
- Select the period you want. Great Britain’s RTS 12 financial-limits standard requires operators to offer limits covering 24 hours, 7 days and 1 month.
- Check whether any limit applies to your whole account or only a particular product or channel. If you set limits for overlapping periods, the most restrictive applicable limit governs. For example, a £10 daily limit and a £100 weekly limit allow no more than £10 in a day and £70 across that week.
- Review the confirmation and when the change takes effect. A requested decrease should be applied immediately unless a technical failure prevents it. A requested increase cannot take effect until at least 24 hours have passed, and you must positively confirm it after the cooling-off period. The operator should tell you when the change takes effect.
Other controls, such as a loss limit or net-deposit limit, may also be available. They are not the same as a deposit limit; check what each one counts and which games or accounts it covers. From 30 June 2026, under Great Britain rules, only a limit based on gross deposits may be labelled a “deposit limit.”

These options address different needs: a limit controls deposits while leaving account access in place; a time-out is a temporary operator-specific pause; self-exclusion is a formal stop. None should be assumed to cover every gambling site, venue or service.

Look for Time-out, Take a break or a similar option in the operator’s safer-gambling controls. Read the duration, whether you can end or change the pause, and what happens to access and account funds before confirming. There is no single duration or interface established for all bingo operators, so rely on the terms shown by your own site. A time-out is not the same as formal self-exclusion.

How to self-exclude from a bingo site
Exclude yourself from one operator
Contact the operator and request self-exclusion if you want to stop using that business. The Gambling Commission’s self-exclusion guidance says that when an operator agrees to exclude you, it must close your account, return any remaining account funds and remove your details from marketing databases. If the operator still lets you gamble during the exclusion, report the issue to the operator and consider informing the Gambling Commission.

The limit requirements and operator duties described above are for Great Britain under Gambling Commission standards. Gambling rules and tools differ elsewhere, so check the regulator and operator for your location.
