Set the limit in your account’s responsible-trading controls, but do not assume a “payment alert” switch exists. Kalshi uses a personalized funding cap that limits deposits per calendar month. Polymarket US offers daily, weekly, or monthly deposit limits. The two services apply changes differently, and the official instructions reviewed do not document a general alert for a deposit being initiated, completed, or rejected.
What is documented instead is narrower: Kalshi can notify you when a market you own settles, and its separate Inner Circle feature can share trading-activity alerts with people you designate. For payment status, you must check the relevant transfer or deposit details. The steps below apply specifically to Kalshi and Polymarket US; do not treat them as universal instructions for every prediction-market service or country.

Which account controls are available?
A deposit limit is a rule that constrains how much new money can enter an account during a defined period. It is an account-control setting, not a prediction about your eventual losses and not a substitute for stopping trading when you need to stop. The available interval and the waiting period for changes differ by platform.

Platform interfaces can change. If the wording on your screen differs, use the account’s responsible-trading or risk-management area rather than relying on an old screenshot. The source for the Polymarket instructions is specifically the US product, so the path should not be assumed to apply to the international service.

Set a personalized funding cap on Kalshi
1. Open the responsible-trading control
- Sign in to Kalshi on the web.
- Open the sidebar if it is collapsed.
- Choose Responsible Risk Management from the account-related options. The navigation is documented in Kalshi’s Responsible Trading Hub.
Kalshi’s responsible-trading policy describes the controls as available on both web and app, while the detailed navigation above is the web path. App labels and placement may differ after an update.
2. Choose the monthly amount
Select the personalized funding-cap setting and enter the maximum amount you want to deposit in a calendar month. Kalshi defines the cap as the maximum amount a user can deposit during that month; it concerns incoming funding, not the value of positions you already hold or the amount you eventually lose.
Read the amount and period before confirming. A cap is most useful when it is low enough to enforce a decision you made in advance, rather than an amount chosen while you are trying to continue trading.

3. Understand the lock-in before confirming
The cap’s timing is unusually important:
- The cap affects future deposits immediately after it is set.
- If you increase it, the higher amount begins in the next calendar month rather than immediately.
- Once set, it cannot be changed or lifted before its expiration date. Kalshi states: “Once a personalized funding cap has been set, the limit cannot be changed or lifted until the limit has reached its expiration date.”
This means you should not set a low cap expecting to raise it later the same day. Decide the amount and the period first, then confirm only when you accept the lock-in.
4. Check the wire-deposit restriction
Kalshi’s personalized-funding-cap help article says wire deposits are not currently accepted for users who have a personalized funding cap enabled. If your usual funding method is a bank wire, review the available methods and the cap’s terms before turning it on. Do not interpret a missing wire option as a failed payment until you have checked whether the cap is responsible.
Set a deposit limit on Polymarket US
1. Navigate to Deposit limits
- Sign in to the Polymarket US account.
- Open Account.
- Select Responsible Trading.
- Open Deposit limits.

2. Pick the interval and amount
Choose a daily, weekly, or monthly limit, enter the amount, and confirm. Select the interval that matches how you budget. A monthly limit is easier to compare with a monthly household budget; a daily or weekly limit can create a shorter pause between decisions.
3. Plan around the 72-hour cooldown
Lowering the limit takes effect immediately. Raising it or removing it does not: Polymarket US imposes a 72-hour cooldown. Treat that delay as part of the control, not as a processing error or an estimate that might be shorter. If you need to deposit more for a legitimate reason, the account may remain constrained until the full 72 hours has elapsed.
Because the lower-limit change is immediate, reducing the amount is the practical emergency action. Raising or deleting the limit should be treated as a deliberate decision that cannot be reversed instantly.
What “payment alerts” actually means on these accounts
The official materials reviewed do not document a universal setting that sends an alert whenever a deposit is initiated, settles, fails, or is rejected. That absence matters: an account may show a transaction status without offering a push or email for every status change.
Kalshi market-settlement notifications
Kalshi’s Market FAQs say email or app notifications can be enabled in Settings for a market you own when that market settles. This is a notification about the outcome and settlement of a market position. It is not documented as a notice that a bank deposit or card payment has completed.

Kalshi Inner Circle activity sharing
Kalshi’s customer-protection announcement describes Inner Circle as a separate feature. You can designate friends or family who are allowed to see trading activity and receive real-time activity alerts. Those alerts concern trading activity and are delivered to the people you grant access to; they are not payment notifications and do not report a deposit’s bank-processing status.
Only add people you trust, because the feature is designed to share account activity. It should not be confused with an emergency payment block or a private transaction-status feed.
Polymarket US self-exclusion notifications
The Polymarket US Trust & Safety Hub says market-event push notifications and marketing stop during self-exclusion. That is a break and access-control feature. It does not establish a switch for alerts about deposits, payment authorizations, or transfer failures.
How to check payment status when no alert is documented
Kalshi bank deposits
Kalshi’s bank-deposit guidance says a bank deposit typically settles within five business days, and directs users to the Transfers page to track its status. “Typically” is important: five business days is an operational expectation, not a guarantee that every bank or transfer will finish on that schedule.
- Open the account’s Transfers page.
- Locate the relevant bank deposit and read its displayed status.
- Compare the posting date with the five-business-day expectation, allowing for weekends and bank holidays.
- If the status remains unresolved beyond that window, use Kalshi’s support route and include the transfer details requested by the account team.
Checking Transfers is a manual status check. Nothing in the cited guidance says that the page automatically sends a notification when the bank deposit settles.
Polymarket deposits and network verification
For Polymarket deposits involving a crypto transfer, use the deposit instructions shown in the account and verify both the destination address and the network before sending. The platform’s How to Deposit guidance warns that a transfer sent to the wrong chain or address cannot be reversed.

- Compare every character of the address and the network name with the sending wallet or exchange.
- Send only after both match.
- Keep the transaction record so you can reference it if the account does not show the expected deposit.
An alert, even if one were available, could not undo a transfer sent to the wrong chain or address. Verification before sending is the relevant protection.
Kalshi and Polymarket US: practical differences

Use a limit as part of a stopping plan
A funding cap or deposit limit controls one route by which money enters the account. It does not guarantee that you will not lose money already deposited, and it does not prevent trading with an existing balance. Pair the limit with decisions you can follow without negotiating with yourself at the moment you want to trade.
- Choose the amount during a calm budgeting session and record the date the rule begins.
- Keep the limit below the amount needed for essential bills and routine savings.
- Use the platform’s sign-out, app-notification, or self-exclusion controls if you need a complete break rather than a funding restriction.
- Tell a trusted person about the boundary if accountability would help; on Kalshi, Inner Circle is an optional formal way to share trading activity with designated people.
- Review bank and wallet statements independently instead of assuming an in-app notification will identify every payment event.
Troubleshoot missing controls or unexpected timing
The Responsible Risk Management option is missing on Kalshi
Confirm that you are signed in to the intended account, expand the web sidebar, and look under account or responsible-trading options. The policy describes availability on web and app, but screen labels can change. If you are using the app, update it and look for the equivalent responsible-risk area rather than assuming the web navigation is identical.
A Kalshi deposit method disappeared
Check whether a personalized funding cap is enabled. Kalshi says wire deposits are not currently accepted while that cap is active. Review the cap’s expiration terms before attempting to change it; the cap cannot be lifted early.
A Polymarket US increase has not taken effect
Check the time at which you submitted the change and allow the complete 72-hour cooldown. Raising or removing the limit is intentionally delayed. Lowering a limit is the change that applies immediately.

You expected a payment alert
First identify the event you are waiting for: a market settlement, a trading-activity update shared through Inner Circle, a bank-transfer status, or a crypto deposit. Kalshi documents alerts for the first two categories, while the cited payment guidance directs you to manual status checking. Do not infer that a settlement notification confirms that a deposit has cleared.
A crypto deposit went to the wrong network
Stop sending additional funds and preserve the transaction record. Polymarket’s instructions warn that a wrong-chain or wrong-address transfer cannot be reversed. Contact the relevant support channel with the transaction information, but do not expect an alert or support request to restore an irreversible transfer.
When to use self-exclusion or support instead
If a deposit ceiling is not enough to keep you from trading, use a stronger break or self-exclusion option. Polymarket US explains that self-exclusion stops market-event push notifications and marketing while it is active. That behavior is consistent with a break feature, not a payment-alert setting.
