You can stop monitoring crypto charts continuously by creating a small set of price or percentage alerts in the exchange app you already use. Choose the asset and trading pair, define the market event that matters, enable notifications both in the app and on your phone, then review the alert’s frequency and expiry. An alert only tells you that a condition was reached; it does not buy or sell anything, and the cited platform documentation does not promise instant delivery.
The exact buttons, supported conditions, alert limits and available delivery methods differ by service and can change with an app update. The procedures below use current official instructions for Coinbase, Binance and Kraken, with dates and account-mode requirements stated where the platforms document them.

What a cryptocurrency price alert does—and does not do
A price alert is a notification rule. You select an asset, a market (such as a BTC/USD or ETH/EUR pair), and a trigger such as “price reaches,” “rises above,” “drops below,” or a percentage move. When the platform detects that condition, it sends a push, in-app or email notification if that channel is enabled.

#1 Best Overall
- Alert: a message prompting you to inspect the market.
- Limit or market order: a trading instruction that may execute under the exchange’s order rules. You must place it separately.
- Delivery: dependent on the platform, your account settings, your phone or browser permissions, connectivity and the service’s own processing. The cited documentation does not establish a guaranteed delivery time.
Because a notification is not an execution instruction, decide in advance what you will do after receiving it: open the market, review liquidity and fees, check your risk limits, or simply record the event. Do not leave an alert running as if it were a protective stop-loss or an automatic purchase.
Choose the right alert before opening the app
1. Select the asset and exact trading pair
Search for the coin or token, then verify the quote currency and market. The same asset can have different prices in USD, EUR, USDT or another quote currency, and an alert on one pair will not necessarily correspond to another pair. If you trade on a particular venue, use that venue’s pair rather than assuming a price from a different market will match.
2. Define the event that deserves your attention
A single target is useful when you care about a specific level—for example, being notified if BTC/USD moves above a planned review price. A percentage trigger can be more adaptable when the asset’s nominal price changes frequently, but it is available only where the platform offers it. Binance documents both price and percentage conditions; the other services may expose a narrower set in a particular app version.
3. Keep the number of alerts small and meaningful
Use levels that would change a decision, such as a planned research point, a portfolio review threshold or a risk check. Do not create an alert for every minor fluctuation: a crowded alert list makes important messages easy to miss and harder to maintain when your assumptions change.

4. Decide how often an alert should repeat
Some interfaces offer a one-time trigger, a repeat frequency or an expiry date. Choose the least repetitive option that serves your purpose. If the app does not show an expiry or frequency control, inspect the active-alert list after saving so you know whether the rule remains in force.
Platform features at a glance
The following comparison uses the capabilities described in each platform’s cited help documentation. Availability can vary by asset, region, account, device and app release; “not stated” means the linked page does not establish a universal value.
| Platform | Where alerts are created | Conditions described | Delivery and prerequisites | Limits or expiry documented |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coinbase | Mobile app after adding an asset to a watchlist | Target price above or below the selected price | Push, in-app and/or email under Account & Settings → Notification Settings; only watchlisted assets send an alert | Not stated on the cited help page |
| Binance | Mobile app in Binance Pro; desktop Alerts control | Target reached; price above or below a target; percentage change over or under a threshold; 24-hour percentage-change thresholds | Phone or system notifications must be enabled; desktop also requires system notification permission | Maximum 10 alerts per trading pair, 50 total alerts, and 90-day validity per alert, according to the support page reviewed October 13, 2026 |
| Kraken | Kraken Pro mobile Markets page or an open order/market; Alerts widget on web | Price-alert modal described; exact condition choices depend on the interface | Kraken Pro push notifications must be enabled both at device level and in the app | Active alerts can be edited or deleted; a universal cap or duration is not stated |
These are feature axes, not a ranking. Compare the pair you need, the trigger types you understand, the channels you will actually receive, and any cap or expiry before deciding where to maintain an alert.

Set an alert in the Coinbase mobile app
Coinbase’s documented flow starts with a watchlist. If a menu name differs in your installed version, look for the same watchlist, bell and notification concepts rather than assuming the older label remains unchanged.
Rank #3
- Open the Coinbase mobile app and search for the cryptocurrency.
- Select the asset and tap the star icon to add it to your watchlist. Coinbase says only assets on a watchlist will send a price alert.
- Open the asset page and tap the bell-plus icon.
- Choose Add Alert.
- Select whether the alert should fire when the price is above or below your target.
- Enter the target price, confirm the quote currency and save.
- Open Account & Settings → Notification Settings and enable the delivery channels you want: push, in-app and/or email.
Verify the Coinbase rule
Return to the asset or alert area and confirm the target and direction. If the asset is removed from the watchlist, or if phone or email permissions are disabled, you may not receive the channel you expected. The alert remains a prompt to review the market; it is not an order.
Set an alert in the Binance app or on desktop
Mobile app (Binance Pro)
Binance’s support page says the price-alert feature in the app is available in Binance Pro. The page’s current instructions are summarized in the following sequence:
- Switch to Binance Pro, open Markets, and search for the trading pair.
- Open the pair and tap the alert icon.
- Choose the condition offered by the interface—for example, a target reached, price rising above or dropping to a target, a percentage change over or under a threshold, or a 24-hour percentage-change threshold.
- Enter the target value or percentage.
- Select the alert frequency, if shown, and create the alert.
- In your phone’s operating-system settings, allow Binance notifications. The in-app rule alone cannot override a device-level block.
Desktop
- Open the relevant market and select the Alerts control.
- Configure the condition, target and frequency shown for that market.
- Save the alert and grant system notification permission when the browser or desktop environment asks.
Binance limits documented by the support page
Binance states that a maximum of 10 alerts can be created for each trading pair, total alerts cannot exceed 50, and each alert is valid for 90 days. Those figures come from Binance’s article, published February 17, 2022 and updated January 6, 2026, reviewed here on October 13, 2026; they are not universal crypto-market limits and may not apply identically to every account, region or future app version. See Binance’s price-alert support page before relying on a limit.

Check an expiring Binance alert
When a 90-day rule expires, create a replacement if the condition still matters. Keep a note of the pair, direction and threshold so you do not accidentally recreate the opposite condition or use a different quote currency.

Set an alert with Kraken Pro on mobile or web
Mobile
Kraken’s Market Alerts article, last updated January 20, 2026, says to enable Kraken Pro push notifications twice: first at the device level and then inside the app. After permissions are active:
- Open the Markets page.
- Tap the bell icon to open the price-alert modal, or long-tap an open order or market to reach the same alert control.
- Enter the alert details offered for that market and save.
- Review the active-alert list so you can edit or delete rules that no longer match your plan.
Web
- Open Kraken Pro in a browser and locate the Alerts widget.
- Create the alert for the selected market and target.
- Allow browser or system notifications when prompted.
- Use the widget to edit or delete active alerts.
Kraken’s instructions do not establish a single cap or expiry period that applies to every account. Check the active-alert display in your interface for any duration or frequency shown. The detailed steps are in Kraken’s Market Alerts article.

Creating a rule and receiving its message are separate tasks. Work through both levels:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
App-level settings
- Open the platform’s notification settings and enable the channel you intend to use.
- If email is available, confirm the address and check spam or filtered folders after a test alert.
- For in-app messages, open the app periodically enough to see the notification center.
Device, browser and operating-system settings
- Allow notifications for the exchange app in the phone’s operating-system settings.
- Disable a system-wide focus, do-not-disturb or battery restriction that suppresses the app, if those controls are active on your device.
- For desktop or web alerts, grant browser notification permission and keep the relevant browser profile signed in as required by the platform.
- Check connectivity and background-data permissions; a phone that prevents an app from running in the background may delay or suppress push delivery.
These checks improve the chance of receiving a message but do not create a delivery-time guarantee. If a threshold is crossed while your device is offline or a permission is blocked, the behavior depends on the platform’s implementation.

Build a low-maintenance alert plan
Use a three-layer threshold set
For an asset you follow closely, consider no more than a few purposeful rules: one level that starts a review, one level that marks a more significant move, and—only if the platform supports it—a percentage change that captures a move regardless of the asset’s absolute price. Label or record the reason for each level outside the alert screen so you can reassess it later.
Separate monitoring from execution
Write the action next to the trigger: “review holdings,” “check news and liquidity,” or “do nothing unless my written criteria are met.” This prevents a notification from becoming an impulsive trade instruction. If you decide to trade, open the order ticket separately and verify side, amount, order type, fees and quote currency before submitting.
Review after a major change
Revisit alerts when you change exchanges, quote currencies, investment objectives or risk limits. Delete stale rules, replace expired ones and confirm that the asset is still available on the selected pair. A short active-alert list is easier to audit than dozens of historical ideas.
Troubleshoot a missing or unexpected notification
The alert was never received
- Confirm the target and direction in the platform’s active-alert list.
- Check that the asset or pair is still eligible—for example, Coinbase requires the asset to remain on your watchlist.
- Verify both app-level and device-level permissions, including browser permission on desktop.
- Check whether the alert expired, reached its one-time frequency, or hit a documented cap.
- Look for an email or in-app message if push delivery was blocked.
Too many notifications arrived
- Edit the rule to a less frequent setting where the platform offers frequency controls.
- Delete overlapping thresholds that trigger on the same market move.
- Keep only levels tied to a decision you can explain.
The displayed price does not match another chart
Compare the exact trading pair, quote currency and venue. Prices can differ between markets, so an alert tied to one exchange’s pair should not be treated as a universal market price.
The alert arrived after the move
Check connectivity, permissions and device restrictions, then remember that the cited sources do not promise instantaneous delivery. An alert is unsuitable as a guaranteed execution or protection mechanism; use an appropriate order type and understand its terms if you need an actual trade instruction.
A quick setup checklist
- Name the asset and exact pair.
- Choose a price or supported percentage condition.
- Set a threshold that changes what you will review.
- Choose frequency and note any expiry.
- Save the rule and confirm it in the active-alert list.
- Enable the app’s notification channel.
- Enable phone, browser or desktop permission.
- Record the intended follow-up action, without treating the alert as an order.
- Recheck the rule after an app update, account change or documented expiry.
Bottom line
Price alerts let you replace constant chart watching with a few targeted prompts. Start with the asset and pair, use only meaningful price or percentage thresholds supported by your app, and verify notifications at both the platform and device levels. Coinbase, Binance and Kraken document different workflows and constraints, so follow the instructions for the installed version and review active alerts regularly. When a message arrives, treat it as a cue to investigate—not as an automatic buy, sell or guarantee that you were notified in time.
