How to Register SBI WhatsApp Banking, Check Balance and Get a Mini Statement
SBI WhatsApp Banking lets eligible State Bank of India customers request a balance, mini statement and several other services through WhatsApp. As of August 10, 2026, SBI’s current WhatsApp Banking page directs customers to start registration by sending Hi to +91 90226 90226 and completing OTP-based authentication. The older SMS registration method is no longer the primary procedure shown on SBI’s current page.

After registration, open the live service menu and tap Balance Enquiry or Mini Statement. The menu and available journeys can change, so avoid relying on old instructions such as reply 1 for balance or reply 2 for mini statement.

First, make sure you have the correct SBI WhatsApp service
For SBI bank accounts, use only: +91 90226 90226
The same number may appear without spaces as +919022690226. Before sending any banking request, confirm that the WhatsApp profile has the blue verified-business badge.
SBI Card is a separate business. Its WhatsApp service uses 9004022022 and an OPTIN process. That number is not the SBI bank-account WhatsApp Banking number. See the official SBI Card WhatsApp page if you need credit-card assistance.

Requirements before registering
Have these ready:
- Your SBI-registered mobile number: the WhatsApp account must be associated with the mobile number recorded with SBI. Simply having an SBI account is not enough if the number is outdated or linked incorrectly.
- An existing SBI customer relationship: account-related services are intended for SBI customers. Non-SBI users may have access to limited informational features such as product information or branch and ATM locations.
- WhatsApp and an internet connection: WhatsApp must be active on the same registered number. Mobile data or Wi-Fi is required to exchange messages.
- An eligible account or customer profile: SBI supports NRI customers when they register with the bank-registered mobile number and complete the prescribed process. An older SBI FAQ specifically listed savings, current, NRI and proprietors of CC-OD accounts. Because that FAQ was last updated on October 7, 2024, customers with unusual account types should confirm eligibility with SBI rather than assume access.
- The genuine SBI profile: verify the number and blue badge from SBI’s official website instead of trusting a contact shared in a forwarded message.
How to register SBI WhatsApp Banking: current method
- Open the official SBI WhatsApp chat. Search for
+91 90226 90226in WhatsApp, or open the chat from the number displayed on SBI’s official WhatsApp Banking page. Confirm the blue verified-business badge. - Send
Hi. Send the message from the WhatsApp account using your mobile number registered with SBI. - Follow the registration prompts. SBI’s current process uses OTP-based authentication. Follow the live instructions and complete the authentication in the official WhatsApp journey. The exact screens and wording may change; do not assume that an OTP will always arrive through a particular delivery method unless the live prompt says so.
- Choose a language if the service offers that option. SBI’s current FAQ lists eight total languages: English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati and Punjabi. SBI’s promotional wording separately refers to seven regional languages, which means seven regional languages in addition to English.
- Open the service menu. Once authentication succeeds, use the menu to choose the required service. SBI says predefined keywords are not required: customers can tap a menu option, type naturally or send a voice note where supported.
- Select an account if prompted. If your registered mobile number is associated with more than one SBI account, the service may show an account-selection step. Choose the intended account and check the masked account details before continuing.
The current SBI page does not publish permanent option numbers for the menu. A website that tells you to reply with a specific number may be describing an older version of the service.
How to check your SBI account balance on WhatsApp
- Open the existing chat with the verified SBI WhatsApp number.
- If the session has expired or the bot asks you to restart, send
Hi. - Tap Balance Enquiry in the current service menu, or use the corresponding balance option shown in the chat.
- Select the relevant account if more than one is displayed.
- Read the response and confirm that the masked account identifier belongs to the account you intended to check.
SBI’s current service list says Balance Enquiry is available for accounts linked to the customer’s CIF. The balance shown should not automatically be treated as a continuously refreshed, real-time figure. SBI’s WhatsApp Banking terms say statement outputs are taken from the bank’s computer systems and may reflect the latest update available rather than a continuously updated balance.
If a recent deposit, withdrawal or debit is missing, or if the amount is disputed, check YONO, SBI Internet Banking or another official account channel before relying on the WhatsApp response.
How to get an SBI mini statement on WhatsApp
- Open the official SBI WhatsApp chat.
- Send
Hiif the bot asks you to begin a new session. - Tap Mini Statement from the live menu.
- Select the account if SBI displays multiple accounts linked to your customer relationship.
- Review the recent transactions returned by SBI and verify the account identifier.
SBI’s current WhatsApp Banking page confirms that Mini Statement is available for accounts linked to the CIF, but it does not currently specify how many transactions the WhatsApp mini statement contains.

Why you may see different transaction limits online: an older SBI FAQ, last updated October 7, 2024, says a mini statement could contain up to 10 transactions. A separate SBI YONO article dated May 29, 2026, says the last five transactions are shown. Since SBI’s current WhatsApp Banking landing page omits the number, use the safer description—recent transactions or the transactions shown by SBI—rather than relying on an unconditional limit of five or ten.
If you need a longer history, look for Account Statement or Downloadable PDF Statement in the current WhatsApp menu, or use YONO or Internet Banking. Historical limits published on older SBI pages should not be treated as a current promise unless the live service or a newer official FAQ confirms them.
What else SBI WhatsApp Banking can do
Balance and mini statements are only two of the journeys listed on SBI’s current page. Depending on eligibility and live availability, the menu may also include:

- Interest, deposit, education-loan, home-loan and TDS certificates

SBI says the service is available 24×7×365, including weekends and public holidays. That does not guarantee an instant response: network problems, maintenance, technical failures or a change to the service journey can still interrupt a request. SBI says it does not levy a service charge for WhatsApp Banking, although ordinary mobile-data or network charges may depend on your telecom provider and plan.

SBI’s terms say it is not required to support every operating-system version, and that network conditions can delay or prevent responses. SBI may also add, remove, enable or disable services at its discretion.
The older SBI SMS registration method: verify before using
An older official SBI FAQ documented this alternative:
- From the mobile number registered with SBI, send
WAREG <Account Number>by SMS to7208933148. - After receiving confirmation, open the SBI WhatsApp chat and send
Hi.
This is an older or alternate method, not the primary current procedure. The instruction appears on an SBI FAQ last updated October 7, 2024, but is absent from SBI’s current WhatsApp Banking page, which now directs customers to start by sending Hi and completing OTP authentication. Try the direct WhatsApp process first. Verify the SMS method on SBI’s live official website before using it, especially if the destination number or instructions differ.

If the older SMS route fails, check the format, destination number and whether the sending mobile number is updated with the account. The older FAQ directs customers whose number is not updated to contact an SBI branch.

How to identify the genuine service
- Use only
+91 90226 90226for SBI bank-account WhatsApp Banking. - Confirm the blue verified-business badge in the WhatsApp profile.
- Do not trust a contact only because it uses the SBI name, logo or profile picture.
- Reach SBI’s website by typing the address or using a trusted bookmark instead of opening suspicious links received in WhatsApp messages.
Information the service should not request
SBI’s current WhatsApp FAQ says the service will not ask for your complete CIF number, full account number or CVV. It may request limited information, such as the last four digits of an account, for selected services.
SBI’s cyber-security guidance says the bank does not ask customers to disclose confidential credentials. Never share any of the following with a caller, agent, unknown WhatsApp number or website:
- OTP
- ATM or debit-card PIN
- Internet Banking password or profile password
- CVV
- UPI PIN
- Full card details or complete account credentials
Entering or confirming an OTP inside the genuine SBI registration journey is different from disclosing that OTP to another person. If someone asks you to read out an OTP or enter it on a separate website, stop immediately.
Remember that WhatsApp is a third-party platform
SBI’s terms describe WhatsApp as an independent third-party application. Information exchanged through the service may be stored on WhatsApp’s application, website or servers outside SBI’s control, and SBI does not guarantee the security of information stored there.

A registered SIM or an active WhatsApp session can create an unauthorized-access risk. SBI’s terms specifically identify the loss of the registered SIM, moving the SIM to another device without deleting WhatsApp from the previous device, and failing to report unauthorized access as security concerns.

- Secure or disable WhatsApp on the lost device and review linked WhatsApp devices.
- Inform SBI through an official branch or customer-care channel.
- Monitor your accounts and report any unauthorized transaction immediately.
How to deregister or register again
To stop SBI WhatsApp Banking, type Deregister in the official chat and follow the prompts.
If you previously deregistered and want to use the service again, SBI’s current page says to send Hi or Hi SBI to the official number and complete the registration prompts again.
Deregistration may not take effect immediately. SBI’s terms warn that requests sent before cancellation is completed may remain the customer’s responsibility, so do not assume the service has stopped until the bank confirms the deregistration journey.
Alternatives when WhatsApp Banking is unavailable
SBI Quick Missed Call Banking
SBI Quick is a separate SBI service that can provide balance and mini-statement information by SMS or missed call from the registered mobile number. The SBI Quick mobile app is optional.

That five-transaction description applies to SBI Quick and should not be automatically transferred to the separate WhatsApp mini-statement service. SBI also lists a missed-call option for balance enquiry; use the current SBI Quick page for the current missed-call instructions.
YONO, Internet Banking or a branch
Use YONO or SBI Internet Banking when you need a longer transaction history, transfers or broader account management. Use an SBI branch or official customer-care channel when your registered mobile number, account linkage or customer details are incorrect. These options are also useful if the WhatsApp response is delayed or does not reflect a recent transaction.
