In India, a securities-market CAS is designed to consolidate mutual-fund activity and securities held in demat accounts. The official descriptions do not define an ordinary bank term deposit as a CAS holding. If your FD is missing, that alone does not mean it was closed, matured or recorded incorrectly. Confirm the deposit in the bank’s FD advice or deposit account statement instead.
Use the CAS for what it is intended to show, then use the matching record for each asset: the depository participant (DP) for demat holdings, a mutual-fund statement service for fund transactions and the bank for FD contract details.

What a Consolidated Account Statement actually covers
SEBI describes CAS as a combined monthly statement covering mutual-fund transactions and other securities held in demat accounts. CDSL’s definition is similarly specific: “CDSL CAS is a statement consisting of transactions and holdings in investor’s demat account(s) held with CDSL and NSDL as well as in units of Mutual Funds held in Statement of Account (SOA) form.”
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThat scope is why a conventional bank FD normally does not appear as an asset line in your CAS. A bank term deposit is a contract recorded by the bank, not a security held in a demat account. The statement may still be delivered to an investor who has a bank relationship, but delivery does not turn every bank product into a CAS holding.

Some products use the word “deposit” while having a different legal or operational structure. Do not assume that every dematerialised instrument with “deposit” in its name must appear in the same way as a bank FD. Check the product documentation and issuer record if you are dealing with anything other than an ordinary bank term deposit.
Why your PAN matters even though your FD is not a CAS line
CDSL says CAS consolidation is based on PAN. For joint holdings, it uses the first holder’s PAN together with the holding pattern. This identity matching determines which eligible demat and mutual-fund records are consolidated; it does not make the bank’s separate FD contract part of the statement.
AMFI also states that sensitive bank-account details and PAN are not included as displayed CAS information. In practice, PAN can be used for consolidation while not appearing as a complete field in the document you receive.
When the CAS system began
CDSL says CAS dispatch was mandated beginning in March 2015 for transactions carried out in February 2015, following SEBI circular CIR/MRD/DP/31/2014 dated November 12, 2014. This history explains the statement’s securities-market purpose; it is not evidence that bank deposits were added to CAS coverage.
How to tell which statement you have
Before searching for an FD, identify the statement issuer and the type of records it consolidates. A depository CAS and a mutual-fund CAS can both be called a “consolidated account statement,” but their practical contents differ.
| Statement | What it is intended to show | Where to verify the record |
|---|---|---|
| Depository CAS | Demat securities, eligible mutual-fund holdings, consolidation by PAN and holder pattern, and the statement date | The depository or your DP; CDSL describes consolidation across CDSL and NSDL accounts |
| Mutual-fund CAS | Fund balances and valuation in a summary view, or transaction listings in a detailed view, for the period selected | CAMS, KFintech or MFCentral statement service |
| Bank fixed-deposit record | Deposit amount, interest rate, tenure, opening date, maturity date and interest payout or reinvestment instructions | The bank’s FD advice, deposit receipt or deposit account statement |
Depository CAS
A depository CAS is the relevant document when you want to check shares, bonds or other securities held in demat accounts, along with eligible mutual-fund units. It can consolidate holdings associated with both depositories when the consolidation rules are met.

Mutual-fund CAS
A mutual-fund statement service is focused on funds serviced by the relevant registrar and transfer agents (RTAs) and on mutual-fund transactions. CAMS says its consolidated statement covers funds serviced by all RTAs. Mutual-fund units can also appear in a depository statement when held in demat form, while units held in statement-of-account (SOA) form are covered in CDSL’s CAS description.

Bank FD advice or deposit account statement
The bank’s record is the controlling source for the FD agreement. It should be used to confirm the amount placed, contracted rate, tenure, maturity date and whether interest is paid out or reinvested. Those are contractual bank details; the official CAS descriptions reviewed do not establish them as universal CAS fields.
Step-by-step: how to check whether an FD is represented
- Identify the issuer and format. Check whether the document came from a depository, CAMS, KFintech, MFCentral or your bank. Note whether it is labelled a depository CAS, mutual-fund CAS, summary statement or detailed statement.
- Read the scope notice or holdings headings. Look for sections such as demat securities, mutual-fund units, transactions, balances or valuation. These headings tell you what the document is designed to consolidate. Do not treat the presence of a bank name or an account reference elsewhere in the document as proof that an FD is included.
- Search for an investment that belongs in that scope. A demat security should be checked in the securities-holdings section. Mutual-fund units may be shown in demat or SOA form. An ordinary bank deposit receipt is not automatically represented in either format.
- If you are looking for an FD, switch to the bank’s record. Open the bank’s deposit advice, electronic FD receipt or deposit account statement. Match the principal amount, interest rate, opening date, tenure, maturity date and payout or reinvestment instruction.
- Reconcile the bank record with your own cash records. Compare the FD opening debit with your bank account statement and check whether subsequent interest credits, renewals or maturity proceeds appear as expected. The bank’s record, not the CAS, establishes the FD’s current contractual status.
- If a demat holding is missing, compare the DP statement. CAMS cautions that depository information in its statement may not be complete because it relies on the latest information received from depositories. Use the DP’s holding statement as the next check.
- Check PAN and joint-holder details. Confirm that the PAN used with the DP or fund folio is correct. For a joint account, compare the first holder and the holding pattern, because CDSL uses those details for consolidation.
- Check the consolidating depository where both are involved. CDSL says that when an investor has accounts at both NSDL and CDSL, the depository with the earlier-opened demat account is the default consolidator and sender. You can request a change through your DP.
What to do when your FD is missing
Do not treat absence as closure or maturity
A missing FD line in CAS does not prove that the deposit has ended. The statement’s defined scope is the first explanation to test. A deposit can remain active, renew automatically or mature according to the bank’s contract while never appearing in a securities-market CAS.
Use the bank’s deposit documentation
Ask the bank for the current FD advice or a deposit account statement if you cannot find your copy. Check these items together:
- Principal or deposit amount
- Contracted interest rate
- Opening date
- Tenure
- Maturity date
- Interest payout frequency or cumulative reinvestment instruction
- Renewal instruction and the account designated for maturity proceeds, where shown by the bank
The available official CAS descriptions do not provide a universal CAS field guide for these FD terms. A bank may use different labels or place them on a separate advice, so compare the bank’s own record with the original booking confirmation.
Check for a product that is not an ordinary bank FD
If the product is called a deposit but was issued in dematerialised form or by a non-bank issuer, pause before applying the ordinary-FD rule. Determine whether it is legally a security, a mutual-fund unit, a debt instrument or a bank deposit. Its issuer and account infrastructure decide where it is recorded.

What to do when a demat security or fund holding is missing
Start with the DP for demat holdings
Compare the CAS with the latest statement from your DP. Check the account number, ISIN or security description, quantity and statement date. CAMS specifically warns that depository information in its consolidated statement may be incomplete because it uses the last data received from depositories. A DP statement is therefore the appropriate operational check for a missing demat position.
Check the matching mutual-fund record
For a fund position, compare the CAS with the fund account statement or the statement service that services the folio. Confirm the folio’s PAN, holder names, joint-holder pattern and whether the units are held in demat or SOA form. A difference in any of these identifiers can prevent records from consolidating together.
Check the statement period and type
A summary statement is designed to show balances and valuation. A detailed statement includes transaction listings. If you expect a purchase, switch, redemption or dividend-related entry, select a detailed statement and the period that includes the transaction. AMFI describes MFCentral as offering summary and detailed CAS options and a selectable period of no more than 365 days on the referenced page.
Summary versus detailed CAS
The choice between summary and detailed output changes what you can verify. It does not expand the statement’s asset scope to include ordinary bank FDs.
| Option | Useful for | What it will not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Summary | Current fund balances and valuation at the statement date | The contractual rate, tenure or maturity date of a bank FD |
| Detailed | Transaction listings for the selected period | Whether an unlisted bank FD is active, matured or renewed |
If your question is “what do I own in eligible securities and funds?”, begin with the CAS. If your question is “what are the terms of my bank deposit?”, begin with the bank’s FD record. Selecting detailed CAS output cannot create bank-deposit fields that are outside the statement’s scope.
Who sends the CAS and where to obtain it
The delivery channel depends on the holdings and the statement service involved:

- Depository-linked investors: CDSL describes a depository CAS covering demat accounts held with CDSL and NSDL, subject to the consolidation rules. Where both depositories are involved, the earlier-opened demat account determines the default consolidator and sender; a change can be requested through the DP.
- Mutual-fund investors: AMFI and CAMS describe access through CAMS, KFintech and MFCentral. These services provide statement choices for mutual-fund holdings and transactions.
- Bank-deposit customers: The bank provides the FD advice, electronic receipt or deposit account statement. That record is separate from CAS delivery.
If you no longer receive a CAS, verify that your PAN is correctly updated with the DP or broker, as SEBI’s investor description notes that PAN details are used for CAS delivery. Updating PAN may fix a consolidation or delivery problem, but it will not add an ordinary FD to the statement.

“My bank appears elsewhere, so the FD should be listed.”
A bank relationship or bank-account reference does not define the holdings covered by CAS. Use the bank’s FD advice for deposit terms.
“The FD is absent, so it must have matured.”
Absence from CAS is not a maturity indicator. Check the bank’s maturity date and current deposit status.
“A detailed CAS should show every financial asset.”
Detailed means transaction-level information within the statement’s scope. It does not mean a universal inventory of bank accounts, deposits and other assets.
“A missing demat line proves the security was sold.”
First compare the DP statement and the statement date. CAMS warns that depository information may be incomplete or based on the latest data received.

“PAN is not printed, so PAN cannot affect consolidation.”
CDSL says PAN and, for joint holdings, the first holder’s PAN and holding pattern are used for consolidation. AMFI’s statement that PAN is not included as displayed sensitive information concerns what is shown in the document, not whether PAN is used operationally.

A practical reconciliation checklist
Use this sequence whenever the CAS and your personal asset list do not agree:
- Write down the exact question: FD terms, mutual-fund transaction, demat holding or statement delivery.
- Match the question to the correct record: bank advice for FD, DP statement for demat, and CAMS, KFintech, MFCentral or fund statement for mutual funds.
- Check the statement date and selected period.
- Verify PAN, first-holder name and joint-holder pattern.
- For a bank FD, compare principal, rate, opening date, tenure, maturity and payout or reinvestment instructions.
- For a missing demat holding, ask the DP to investigate the account and latest depository data.
- Keep the bank and DP responses with the relevant statements so future reconciliations use the same identifiers.
Answers to the questions investors ask most
How do I see my fixed deposit in my CAS?
You generally do not see an ordinary bank FD in a securities-market CAS. Retrieve the FD advice or deposit account statement from the bank, then use CAS separately for demat securities and eligible mutual-fund holdings.
Why is my FD not showing in my Consolidated Account Statement?
The likely reason is scope: CAS consolidates securities-market and mutual-fund records rather than ordinary bank term deposits. A missing FD line is not, by itself, evidence of closure, maturity or an error.
Does CAS show fixed-deposit interest and maturity date?
The official CAS descriptions reviewed do not establish interest rate, FD interest, tenure or maturity date as standard CAS fields. Confirm those terms in the bank’s FD advice or deposit account statement.
Where can I check my FD balance and maturity?
Check the bank’s electronic FD receipt, deposit advice, deposit account statement or the bank’s own deposit-information channel. The bank’s record is the source for the current balance, maturity date and payout or reinvestment instruction.
Bottom line for reading your statement
Read CAS as a consolidated view of eligible mutual-fund activity and demat securities, not as a complete statement of every financial asset. For an ordinary bank FD, go directly to the bank’s record for the amount, rate, tenure, maturity and interest instructions. If a demat holding appears incomplete, check the DP; if mutual-fund information is missing, verify the folio, holding mode, PAN and statement period through the relevant fund statement service.
