How to Qualify for KOHO Cover and Request a Cash Advance

By TheFinanceBase Team 15 min read

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To get KOHO Cover, open the Cover offer in your KOHO account, review the bundle and monthly fee, and enroll through Home Page → Unlock Now → Get Cover in the app, or through the Cover option in the web menu. Your account’s eligibility offer determines the available advance; KOHO does not publish one guaranteed amount for every user. Once you subscribe, the offered amount appears as a separate Cover balance and can be used for eligible spending.

Cover is not a free loan. KOHO describes the advance as having no interest, but access requires a recurring subscription fee. Repayment is automatic: incoming money is applied to the Cover balance before the remainder becomes Spendable.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

What KOHO Cover is—and what it is not

KOHO Cover is a paid subscription bundle that includes access to an automatically determined cash advance, along with other bundle benefits. It is designed as a short-term spending buffer rather than a separate bank account or a balance you can transfer wherever you want.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

KOHO’s current help guidance says Cover limits are determined by its eligibility system. The amount can increase, decrease, or remain unchanged over time. Your account activity, spending behaviour, repayment history and overall risk profile may be considered, so another KOHO customer’s limit is not a reliable guide to yours.

The advance is displayed separately from your Spendable balance. After enrollment, the amount KOHO offers is added to available Cover. If Spendable reaches zero, Cover can support eligible transactions. It does not turn into unrestricted cash that you can send to another person or move into every KOHO feature.

How qualification works

Your offer is personalized

There is no public application formula that lets someone calculate a guaranteed Cover amount in advance. KOHO’s current help article says its eligibility system determines the limit and may revise it over time. The practical test is the offer shown inside your own account.

KOHO also says it does not perform a credit check when determining Cover eligibility. That does not mean every account qualifies, or that approval is guaranteed for a particular amount. Eligibility remains subject to KOHO’s internal assessment and the offer presented to you.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Factors that may affect the limit

KOHO identifies several types of information that can influence a Cover limit:

  • Account activity: how the account is used over time.
  • Spending behaviour: regular use of the KOHO card and payment activity.
  • Repayment history: whether previous Cover balances and subscription charges are handled as required.
  • Overall risk profile: KOHO’s broader eligibility assessment.

These factors are not a checklist that guarantees approval. They explain why two otherwise similar users can see different offers and why your amount can change later.

Actions that may help over time

KOHO’s higher-limit guidance identifies behaviours that may support a larger future offer:

  • Receive direct deposits into KOHO.
  • Use the KOHO card for regular spending.
  • Pay bills through KOHO.
  • Keep paid KOHO subscriptions in good standing.
  • Consent to a soft credit check, where KOHO offers that option.
  • Complete income verification, where requested or available.

KOHO does not present these actions as mandatory requirements for every new Cover enrollee, and none guarantees an increase. They are possible ways to build the account history KOHO may use in later eligibility decisions.

Check whether Cover is available to you

In the KOHO mobile app

  1. Sign in and open the Home Page.
  2. Select Unlock Now.
  3. Choose Get Cover.
  4. Review the bundle details, including the monthly subscription price and the advance amount displayed for your account.
  5. Confirm the subscription if the cost, repayment arrangement and available amount suit your needs.

KOHO says the selected cash-advance amount is added to your available Cover balance after you subscribe. The balance should appear separately from Spendable, so check that both figures are visible before relying on the buffer.

On the KOHO website

  1. Log in to your KOHO account.
  2. Open the three-line menu.
  3. Select Cover.
  4. Review the offer and enroll if you accept the displayed terms.

KOHO says you still need the mobile app to unlock all Cover benefits, even if you begin or manage the process on the web. If the Cover option is not shown, the account may not currently have an offer; Support cannot create a higher limit manually.

How to request the advance

Cover does not use a separate loan-request form for each draw. The request is effectively the enrollment in the Cover bundle:

  1. Open the Cover offer using the app or web path above.
  2. Check the personalized limit and the recurring monthly fee shown for the bundle.
  3. Subscribe to the bundle.
  4. Confirm that the amount has been added to the separate Cover balance.
  5. Use Cover only for transactions KOHO lists as eligible.

The amount you see is the amount available under your current offer, not a promise of a published maximum. If the offer is lower than you need, do not assume Support can raise it on request. KOHO’s current guidance says there is no process for Support to manually increase a limit; if a higher option becomes available, KOHO will surface it automatically.

What to check on the offer screen

Before tapping the final enrollment button, record the exact figures and terms shown for your account. The offer screen is the controlling source for your price and limit because both can differ between users and can change over time.

  • Available Cover amount: note the dollar amount KOHO offers now.
  • Monthly subscription price: confirm how much will be charged and where the charge will be taken.
  • Bundle benefits: compare any coaching, reporting or support features included with the bundle you are viewing.
  • Repayment mechanics: verify that new money will be applied to Cover before Spendable.
  • Eligibility status: make sure the account shows an active offer rather than a general product description.

Do not rely on a screenshot, an older promotion or a friend’s plan. KOHO’s current help page says limits are personalized, and the subscription amount is tied to the bundle selected in your account.

Comparing Cover bundle choices

If the app presents more than one bundle, compare the options on the same four axes rather than choosing solely by the largest advertised amount:

Comparison point What to verify
Monthly price Read the current recurring fee shown for each bundle and confirm how it is collected.
Advance offer Check the personalized Cover amount attached to that option; a higher-priced bundle is not automatically a guarantee of a higher limit.
Included benefits Review differences in coaching, reporting, support or other listed features.
Repayment effect Understand that incoming funds repay Cover first regardless of which bundle you select.

Prices, benefits and offers are account-specific. If only one option appears, that is the option currently available to you. If the display is unclear, save the terms shown in the app and contact KOHO through its normal support channels; Support cannot manually create a larger limit.

What Cover can pay for

KOHO describes Cover as a buffer for ordinary account spending once Spendable funds are exhausted. Listed eligible uses include:

  • Everyday card purchases.
  • Bill payments.
  • Pre-authorized payments.
  • Recurring subscriptions.
  • ATM withdrawals.

Eligibility can depend on the transaction and KOHO’s rules, so an available balance is not a guarantee that every attempted payment will be approved. Check the transaction status in the app if a payment is declined.

What Cover cannot pay for

KOHO’s current Cover guidance excludes the following uses:

  • Interac e-Transfers.
  • KOHO-to-KOHO transfers.
  • Funding Goals or Vaults.
  • Purchasing cryptocurrency.
  • Moving funds into an interest-earning use.

These restrictions matter when planning a payment. For example, Cover may help with an eligible bill payment, but it is not a way to send borrowed funds to a friend by e-Transfer or to deposit money into a Goal for later use.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How repayment works

Incoming money is applied automatically

KOHO says there is no separate repayment transaction to schedule. Whenever money is added to your KOHO account, the system applies it to the outstanding Cover balance first. Only the remainder goes into Spendable.

KOHO gives these examples of money that can replenish Cover:

  • Direct deposits.
  • Interac e-Transfers received into the account.
  • Debit-card loads.
  • Money moved from Goals.
  • RoundUps moved into the account.

Suppose you owe $80 on Cover and add $120. The first $80 is applied to Cover and the remaining $40 becomes Spendable. If the incoming amount is less than the outstanding balance, the entire amount goes toward Cover and no remainder is available for spending.

Monitor both balances

Because repayment comes out of incoming funds before Spendable is replenished, a deposit can leave you with less spendable money than its face value. Check the Cover and Spendable figures in the app before scheduling bills or making discretionary purchases.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

More repayment examples

If your outstanding Cover balance is $35 and you receive a $35 e-Transfer, the transfer can fully replenish Cover while adding nothing to Spendable. If you owe $150 and receive a $100 direct deposit, the entire deposit is applied to the advance and $50 remains outstanding. A later $200 deposit would then apply $50 to Cover and leave $150 in Spendable. These examples illustrate why the amount credited to your account is not always the amount available for new spending.

Incoming money can come from several sources, but the order of application is the same: outstanding Cover first, Spendable second. Plan the timing of rent, utilities and other withdrawals around the post-repayment Spendable figure, not the gross amount of a deposit.

Fees, billing failures and the cost of access

No interest does not mean free

KOHO describes the Cover advance as having no interest. Cover nevertheless requires a recurring monthly subscription fee tied to the bundle you select. The exact fee is user- and bundle-specific, so rely on the price displayed in your account rather than an old promotional figure or a number quoted for another plan.

KOHO says the subscription fee is collected automatically from Spendable. Where eligible, a backup payment method may also be used. Review the billing method and available funds before enrolling, especially if your Spendable balance is usually close to zero.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What happens after a failed fee charge

According to KOHO’s current help guidance, a failed billing attempt is retried when funds become available for up to three days. Cover may pause, and KOHO describes a 30-day grace period for the overdue subscription fee.

If the fee remains unpaid through that grace period, KOHO says the full remaining loan balance may be collected when funds are next added and the subscription may be cancelled. That can make a routine deposit unavailable for ordinary spending, so treat the monthly fee as a fixed obligation while you have an outstanding Cover balance.

Cost questions to answer before enrolling

  • What is the current monthly price shown for this exact bundle?
  • Will the fee come from Spendable, a backup payment method, or either depending on eligibility?
  • Could a failed charge pause access while you are relying on Cover?
  • Can your next deposit cover both the overdue fee and the outstanding advance?
  • Would losing the full deposit to repayment leave essential bills unpaid?

These questions do not change KOHO’s eligibility decision, but they help you decide whether the subscription is affordable for your cash-flow pattern.

Credit reporting and missed repayment risk

KOHO says it does not use a credit check to determine Cover eligibility. Separately, KOHO says a Cover balance that remains unpaid for three months or longer may be reported to Equifax. This is a possibility, not a statement that every overdue balance will automatically be reported.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The automatic repayment design does not eliminate the consequences of borrowing more than your incoming cash can cover. Before using Cover, consider when your next deposit arrives, how much will be diverted to repayment, and whether the subscription fee can be paid without relying on another advance.

Can you get a higher Cover limit?

You cannot submit a Support request that guarantees a higher limit. KOHO’s current higher-limit guidance says that if a larger option becomes available, it will be surfaced automatically by the eligibility system.

Over time, the following may support a stronger future assessment, although KOHO does not guarantee an increase:

  • Maintain regular direct deposits.
  • Use the KOHO card consistently for normal purchases.
  • Pay bills through the account.
  • Keep subscription fees current.
  • Complete optional soft-credit or income-verification steps when offered.
  • Repay Cover from incoming funds without allowing balances to remain overdue.

A limit can still fall or stay unchanged despite these behaviours. Check the offer in the app instead of treating any one action as an approval requirement.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What can cause an offer to change?

KOHO’s wording expressly allows a limit to increase, decrease or remain unchanged. A reduction is not necessarily an error, and a previous offer does not establish a permanent entitlement. Changes may reflect updated account activity, spending patterns, repayment history or the overall risk assessment.

Likewise, completing income verification or receiving direct deposits may help over time but does not trigger an immediate increase. The app remains the place to see the current amount. If no larger option is displayed, there is no published procedure for Support to add one manually.

A practical decision checklist before enrolling

  • Confirm the offer: write down the exact Cover amount shown in your account.
  • Confirm the fee: review the current monthly subscription price for the selected bundle.
  • Check the use case: make sure the planned transaction is an eligible purchase, bill, recurring payment or ATM withdrawal.
  • Plan repayment: identify which deposit or other incoming funds will repay the balance first.
  • Protect Spendable cash: remember that incoming money is diverted to Cover before it becomes available for ordinary spending.
  • Understand billing risk: know how a failed subscription charge, the retry period and the grace period could affect access.
  • Keep a backup plan: avoid depending on Cover for a payment if a declined transaction or paused subscription would cause serious harm.

Common pitfalls to avoid

  1. Confusing the limit with cash in your bank account. The offered amount is a Cover balance for eligible transactions, not an unrestricted transfer to another account.
  2. Budgeting the gross deposit. Incoming money repays Cover first, so only the remainder is Spendable.
  3. Assuming “no interest” means no cost. The recurring subscription fee still applies while you have the bundle.
  4. Expecting Support to negotiate. KOHO says there is no manual higher-limit request process.
  5. Using Cover for an excluded transfer. e-Transfers, KOHO-to-KOHO transfers, Goals, Vaults and cryptocurrency purchases are not listed as eligible.
  6. Ignoring a failed subscription charge. Retries, a pause and the 30-day grace period can lead to collection of the outstanding loan and cancellation if the fee remains unpaid.
  7. Relying on an old maximum. Personalized offers and product terms can change, so use the figures shown at enrollment.

Troubleshooting common problems

Cover is not shown in the app

Sign in through the current app and check the Home Page for Unlock Now and Get Cover. You can also check the web menu for Cover. If neither route displays an offer, there may be no current eligibility offer for the account. KOHO’s published guidance does not provide a manual Support override.

The available amount is lower than expected

Use the amount displayed in your account as the controlling figure. Limits are personalized and may change with account activity, spending behaviour, repayment history and risk assessment. A promotional maximum or another customer’s limit does not establish what you qualify for.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A payment is declined even though Cover is available

Check whether the transaction falls within the eligible-use list. e-Transfers, KOHO-to-KOHO transfers, Goals or Vaults, cryptocurrency purchases and interest-earning uses are excluded. Also check whether the subscription is current and whether the transaction would exceed the available balance.

A deposit did not increase Spendable as expected

Look at the outstanding Cover balance first. KOHO applies incoming money to Cover before Spendable, so a deposit may have repaid all or part of the advance rather than becoming fully available for new spending.

The subscription payment failed

Make funds available for KOHO’s retry process and check whether a backup payment method is eligible. KOHO says retries can continue for up to three days and describes a 30-day grace period. If the fee remains unpaid, Cover may pause, the remaining balance may be collected when funds arrive, and the subscription may be cancelled.

Frequently asked questions

Is KOHO Cover guaranteed for every customer?

No. KOHO’s eligibility system determines whether an offer appears and how much is available. The amount may rise, fall or stay the same, and the app’s offer is the practical answer for your account.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do I need a credit check to qualify?

KOHO says it does not perform a credit check when determining Cover eligibility. It may offer an optional soft credit check or income verification as part of account activity, but those steps are not stated as universal requirements.

How do I request a Cover advance?

Open Cover through Home Page → Unlock Now → Get Cover in the app, or log in on the web and select Cover from the three-line menu. Review the offer and subscribe. KOHO says the selected amount is then added to available Cover.

Can I ask Support for a higher limit?

KOHO’s current guidance says there is no process for Support to manually increase a Cover limit. If a higher option becomes available, the eligibility system will surface it automatically.

When do I repay what I use?

Repayment occurs automatically whenever money is added to the KOHO account. The incoming amount is applied to the outstanding Cover balance first, and only the remainder becomes Spendable.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can I use Cover for an e-Transfer?

No. KOHO lists Interac e-Transfers and KOHO-to-KOHO transfers among excluded uses. Cover is intended for eligible purchases, bills, recurring or pre-authorized payments and ATM withdrawals.

What if I cannot pay the monthly subscription fee?

KOHO says it retries a failed charge for up to three days when funds become available and describes a 30-day grace period. If the fee remains unpaid, Cover may pause; KOHO says the full remaining loan balance may be collected when funds are added and the subscription may be cancelled.

Can an unpaid Cover balance affect my credit file?

KOHO says a Cover balance unpaid for three months or longer may be reported to Equifax. Treat this as a possibility rather than an automatic outcome for every overdue balance.

Is there a published maximum advance?

Do not assume a marketing maximum applies to you. KOHO’s current help guidance emphasizes personalized limits and requires an account-specific offer. Check the amount displayed in your app.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Keeping the information current

KOHO’s Cover help article used for this guide was updated September 15, 2026. Eligibility algorithms, personalized limits, bundle benefits, subscription fees and billing rules can change. Recheck the offer and price in your app immediately before enrolling, and read the current Cover terms presented during signup.

The central point is simple: qualification is account-specific, enrollment is the request, and repayment happens automatically from incoming funds. Use the amount and fee shown in your own KOHO account, not a general maximum or an older promotion.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the fastest way to see whether I qualify for KOHO Cover?

Open the KOHO app, go to Home Page → Unlock Now → Get Cover, and review the offer. You can also log in on the web and select Cover from the three-line menu. If no offer appears, KOHO has not displayed current eligibility for that account.

Does subscribing deposit the advance into Spendable?

No. KOHO says the selected amount is added to a separate available Cover balance. It supports eligible transactions and is not unrestricted cash for transfers or every KOHO feature.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What monthly fee will I pay?

The fee depends on the bundle and account offer. Read the current recurring price shown in your app; do not rely on an old promotion or another customer’s price.

Can my Cover limit decrease?

Yes. KOHO says limits may increase, decrease or remain unchanged based on factors such as account activity, spending behaviour, repayment history and overall risk profile.

Which deposits repay Cover?

KOHO lists direct deposits, received e-Transfers, debit-card loads, money moved from Goals and RoundUps as examples. Incoming money is applied to the outstanding Cover balance before Spendable.

Can I use Cover to fund a Goal or Vault?

No. KOHO lists Goals, Vaults, e-Transfers, KOHO-to-KOHO transfers, cryptocurrency purchases and interest-earning uses as excluded.

What happens if the subscription fee is overdue?

KOHO says it may retry the charge for up to three days, pause Cover and allow a 30-day grace period. If the fee remains unpaid, the remaining loan balance may be collected when funds arrive and the subscription may be cancelled.

Does KOHO guarantee approval up to a specific amount?

No universal amount should be assumed. Current help guidance directs users to their personalized in-app offer, and a higher limit cannot be requested manually from Support.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: KOHO Cover qualification and the advance amount are personalized. Enroll through the app or web Cover menu, confirm the displayed monthly fee and limit, use the balance only for eligible spending, and remember that every incoming deposit repays Cover before it reaches Spendable.
