Open the Chick-fil-A App, choose the restaurant you want, tap Mobile order, select a pickup or delivery method, customize each item with the options shown, pay, and submit. For a standard drive-thru pickup, join the normal lane and tell the team member you placed an app order. If the restaurant offers Mobile Thru, choose it as your destination, use the dedicated lane, scan the app’s QR code, and pull forward for handoff.
The app is the definitive guide to what that restaurant can prepare. Menu items, prices, customizations, fees, rewards eligibility and fulfillment methods can differ by location and change over time.

What you need before placing an order
- The Chick-fil-A App installed and an account if you want to save favorites or earn Chick-fil-A One points.
- A selected restaurant. The app cannot show reliable item availability, pickup choices or prices until a location is chosen.
- A payment method accepted in the app.
- Location services enabled if you want arrival detection for curbside or carryout. You can still review the available options without allowing location access, but you may need to check in manually.
Keep the app open after checkout. It displays the order status, estimated wait and instructions for the fulfillment method you selected.
How to order Chick-fil-A ahead, step by step
1. Choose the restaurant
Open the app and select the Chick-fil-A restaurant where you will receive the meal. Check the address carefully if several restaurants are nearby. A mobile order is tied to the location selected at checkout, and the participating services at one restaurant may not be offered at another.

2. Start a mobile order and choose how you will receive it
Tap Mobile order. The app presents the fulfillment methods available at that restaurant, which may include:
- Carryout: Park or enter the restaurant and collect the order at the designated pickup area.
- Curbside: Park in a marked curbside space and check in so a team member can bring the order to your vehicle.
- Dine-in: Place the order in advance and eat inside, where that option is offered.
- Drive-thru: Use the regular drive-thru lane and identify the order to the team member.
- Mobile Thru: Use a dedicated mobile-order drive-thru lane at participating restaurants.
- Delivery: Choose Deliver to me when a participating restaurant and delivery provider are available.
If a method is not listed, it is not available for that restaurant or time. Do not assume that a restaurant with a drive-thru also has Mobile Thru, curbside or delivery.
3. Add menu items
Browse the menu and tap an item to open its details. Select the quantity, then inspect the customization controls before adding it to your order. Repeat for every item. A combo, entrée, side and drink can each have different controls, so changing one item does not automatically change another.

The enhanced ordering experience uses tap-to-add and tap-to-remove controls. Use the controls under the selected item for ingredients, sauces and other add-ons that the restaurant has enabled. The app may show an extra charge for an add-on; review that charge before continuing.
Customization is item- and restaurant-specific. If the item has no available changes, the app displays No customizations. You cannot use the ordering experience to alter cooking times; Chick-fil-A removed cooking-time changes from the app.
5. Review the complete order
Open the order summary and check the restaurant, fulfillment method, arrival instructions, item quantities, every add or removal, and the total. Verify that a paid add-on appears on the correct item. Availability and pricing are determined by the selected restaurant, so an item or option you saw at another location may not appear here.
6. Pay and submit
Confirm payment and submit the order. Wait for the confirmation screen before leaving the app. If you order frequently, save a completed item as a favorite; the saved version can include your selected customizations and make a later reorder faster. Still review the new order because a favorite can become unavailable or change price when used at a different restaurant.

7. Follow the pickup or delivery instructions
Your next action depends on the destination you selected. The sections below explain the handoff for each method.
How to pick up a mobile order
Standard drive-thru
- Enter the restaurant’s normal drive-thru line.
- At the speaker or window, tell the team member that you placed an order through the Chick-fil-A App.
- Provide any identifying information the team member requests and follow the lane instructions.
A standard drive-thru mobile order does not give you permission to bypass the line. If a dedicated Mobile Thru lane is available, it must be selected in the app before arrival.
Mobile Thru
Chick-fil-A describes Mobile Thru as “a fully dedicated lane in the drive-thru for guests who place their order ahead using the Chick-fil-A® App.” It is available only at participating restaurants.
- Choose Mobile Thru as the destination while ordering.
- Follow signs for the dedicated lane when you arrive.
- Open the order in the app and scan the displayed QR code as directed.
- Pull forward for the team member to hand off the order.
In a September 5, 2023 rollout report, Chick-fil-A quoted Service and Hospitality program lead Julie Ledford saying the goal was to help guests experience the drive-thru quicker than ever. The same report said 85% of Mobile Thru users were likely to use it again and 90% said the experience went smoothly. Those figures describe Chick-fil-A’s reported rollout results, not a guaranteed wait for every restaurant.

- Drive to the selected restaurant and park in a marked curbside space.
- Use the app’s check-in or arrival prompt, if shown.
- Keep your vehicle details accurate and remain in the designated space until the order is delivered.
Chick-fil-A says geofencing can detect when you are approaching and start preparation at an appropriate time. The app also provides an estimated wait. If location services are off or the signal is unreliable, follow the manual check-in instructions instead of assuming the restaurant knows you have arrived.
Carryout or dine-in
Enter the restaurant, look for the mobile-order pickup area and give the team member the order information shown in the app. For dine-in, select that destination before checkout and take the order to your table or the location instructions provided by the restaurant.
Delivery
- Tap Deliver to me.
- Enter or confirm the delivery address.
- Select a participating restaurant and an available provider, such as Chick-fil-A Delivery or DoorDash, when offered.
- Choose an available delivery time.
- Review the menu total, delivery charge, service fees and any other disclosed amount before checking out.
Delivery availability varies by location. Menu prices are higher than in-restaurant prices, and additional fees can apply. The app’s final checkout screen is the authoritative total for that address and time.

How to customize your Chick-fil-A meal in the app
Use only the controls shown for that item
Tap an entrée, side, breakfast item, salad or drink and inspect every customization group. Tap an ingredient to add it or remove it when the control is available. The option may be free, or the app may display an add-on fee. Save the item only after the customization summary matches what you want.

Chick-fil-A announced the tap-to-add and tap-to-remove experience on June 5, 2023, describing it as a faster way to create flavor combinations. The controls are not a universal menu of every possible kitchen request: they reflect what the selected restaurant has enabled for that specific item.
Extra pickles, sauces and other add-ons
If pickles, a particular sauce or another ingredient appears under the item’s add-ons, tap to add the quantity offered. If it does not appear, the app does not provide a self-service way to request it for that item. Sauces can also be listed as a separate selectable component, so check the item’s sauce section as well as general add-ons.
Do not assume that adding an ingredient to one sandwich adds it to a sandwich in another line of the order. Customize each item separately and verify the final summary.
Removing ingredients
Use the remove control for ingredients the app lists. Removing an ingredient does not necessarily change the base price. The app will show the resulting item and total before payment.

Cooking instructions
The current ordering experience does not let customers change cooking times. If a request is not represented by a tap-to-add or tap-to-remove option, the app may not be able to transmit it as a standard customization. Ask the restaurant directly about any operational question rather than placing an order that does not reflect your needs.
When the app says “No customizations”
That message means no supported changes are available for that item at the selected restaurant. It is not a promise that a team member can make an off-menu alteration. You can choose a different item with the ingredients or options you need, or contact the restaurant before ordering to ask whether an accommodation is possible.

Which ordering method fits your situation?

Choose based on the options displayed after you select the restaurant. For the quickest vehicle handoff, Mobile Thru can be useful when offered; for a location without it, standard drive-thru, curbside or carryout may be the practical alternative. Compare the estimated wait, whether you must park or join a lane, and the final total before submitting.

The app’s estimated wait is a forecast for the selected restaurant and fulfillment method, not a guaranteed pickup time. Staffing, order volume, traffic and menu availability can change the handoff.

Those are company-reported test results under the conditions of that test; they should not be read as a promise for every restaurant or date.
For curbside and carryout, enabling location services may allow the restaurant to prepare the order when you approach. If you arrive earlier than the app expects, wait for the status instruction or ask a team member for help rather than placing a duplicate order.
Chick-fil-A One rewards and saved orders
Chick-fil-A One members can earn points on qualifying app purchases, save favorites and reorder customized meals. The current rewards page states that qualifying purchases earn 10 points per dollar, with example rewards beginning at 200 points. The qualifying-purchase rules, redemption choices and point requirements can change, so review the terms shown in your account.
To make a favorite useful, save the fully customized item after checking its ingredients and quantity. On a later order, confirm the selected restaurant, availability, price, pickup method and customization before paying. A saved favorite does not override a restaurant’s current menu controls.
Dietary filters and allergy precautions
The Dietary Preference Center offers filters for gluten-sensitive, dairy-sensitive, vegetarian, sodium-conscious, carb-conscious and high-protein choices. These icons describe standard preparation. A custom removal or add-on does not automatically update the dietary icon or recalculate every nutritional implication.

Use the filters as a starting point, not as an allergy guarantee. Anyone with a food allergy, celiac disease or a medically required diet should verify ingredients, cross-contact procedures and preparation with the restaurant before ordering. Tell the team member about the concern at pickup or delivery if the restaurant instructs you to do so. If the app cannot represent the needed change, do not rely on a note or assumption that it was transmitted.
Does Chick-fil-A have a secret menu?
Chick-fil-A does not publish an official secret menu. You can combine or customize menu items that the app exposes, but whether a particular combination can be prepared depends on the restaurant’s inventory, equipment and current procedures.
The reliable approach is to start with an item that appears in the selected restaurant’s menu, use its displayed add and remove controls, and review the resulting order. A social-media name for an off-menu combination is not evidence that every restaurant can make it or that the app will accept it.

The restaurant or pickup method is missing
- Confirm that the correct address or restaurant is selected.
- Check the restaurant’s hours and current service status in the app.
- Try another fulfillment method shown for that location; Mobile Thru, curbside and delivery are not universal.
An ingredient or sauce cannot be added
- Open the specific item rather than editing the order from the summary screen.
- Look under both ingredient add-ons and sauce choices.
- If the option is absent or the item says No customizations, the app does not support that change for this restaurant and item.
The total is higher than expected
- Look for a priced add-on attached to an item.
- Check whether you selected delivery, which can combine higher menu prices with delivery or service fees.
- Compare the restaurant location; prices and availability can differ by restaurant.
You arrived but the order is not ready
- Confirm that you are at the restaurant selected in the confirmation.
- Use the designated pickup area or lane for the method you chose.
- For standard drive-thru, tell the team member it is an app order; for Mobile Thru, scan the QR code as directed.
- Do not submit a second order unless the restaurant tells you the first one failed.
Geofencing did not detect you
Check that location services and app permissions are enabled, then follow the app’s manual check-in instruction. If the status remains unclear, speak with a team member and show the order confirmation.
A dietary icon does not change after customization
The icons describe standard preparation and are not automatically recalculated for custom changes. Recheck the ingredients and contact the restaurant for allergy or medical-diet questions.
A practical checklist before you tap Submit
- Restaurant address matches where you will go.
- Fulfillment method matches your arrival plan.
- Every item has the intended quantity and customizations.
- Any add-on charge is understood.
- Delivery address, provider and time are correct if applicable.
- Rewards account is signed in if you want qualifying points.
- The final total and estimated wait are acceptable.
- You have the confirmation available for pickup.
Bottom line for ordering ahead
Use the selected restaurant’s live menu as the authority: choose the location, select the available fulfillment method, customize only through the controls displayed for each item, and verify the total before payment. Standard drive-thru orders use the regular lane, while Mobile Thru uses a dedicated lane and QR-code scan where offered. Delivery is convenient but carries location-dependent availability, higher menu pricing and possible fees. Favorites and Chick-fil-A One points make repeat orders faster, but neither replaces a final review of today’s availability, price and dietary details.
