Check whether Binance.US supports your location
Binance.US account opening and verification are limited by residence. An unsupported resident cannot complete verification, and a resident of a crypto-only location may be able to use certain crypto functions without USD funding or withdrawals.

Kansas and Wisconsin are identified as crypto-only on the current location page. That designation means USD services are unavailable there, even though other crypto services may remain available. Do not rely on an old list or a previous account experience; check Binance.US’s current supported and unsupported state page just before signup.

Use your actual current residence for this check. A temporary mailing address, a relative’s address, or a VPN location does not change where you reside and can create a verification mismatch. If you move after opening an account, update your profile and expect Binance.US to recheck eligibility before you use location-sensitive services.
What to prepare before signup
Have the following ready so the automated checks do not stall:
- An email address you can open immediately.
- A strong password and a phone that can receive SMS messages.
- Your legal name and current physical residential address. A PO Box is not accepted as the residential address.
- A valid SSN or ITIN-related information. Binance.US asks for the last four SSN digits during the initial identity screen.
- If you plan to request Advanced Verification, a current U.S. government ID and a phone or computer with a working camera for the selfie check.
- If Binance.US requests separate proof of address, an original, complete, legible PDF issued within the last 90 days that shows your full name and residential address.
Use the same spelling and formatting for your name and address that appear on your identity document. A mismatch, expired document, cropped corner, glare, blur, or unreadable text can cause an upload or review failure.
Before you begin, make sure your browser or phone can access the camera when prompted. Keep the original ID nearby rather than relying on a photocopy, and avoid photographing it under plastic or in a wallet. A clean, flat document and a well-lit face make it easier for the automated checks to read the information.
Open an account on the Binance.US website
1. Start at the official registration page
Go to https://www.binance.us/register. Enter your email address and create a password. Confirm that you are over 18, then accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. The age confirmation and terms acceptance are part of the signup flow, not optional profile details.
Type the address manually or paste it carefully, then check for extra spaces or an incorrect country selection. Save the password in a reputable password manager instead of reusing a password from email, banking or another exchange.
2. Confirm your email address
Binance.US sends a verification message to the email address you entered. Open it and enter the authentication code on the signup screen. If the message is not visible, check spam or junk folders and confirm that you entered the address correctly before trying again.
Use the newest code if you request more than one. Older codes may no longer work after a replacement message is issued. Do not forward the email or code to another person; the code is part of the account-creation authentication step.
3. Add a phone and complete SMS authentication
Enter your phone number, request the SMS message, and enter the six-digit code. SMS authentication is required to complete signup. You can add or select another two-factor authentication method later, but another method does not replace the SMS step during initial registration.
Keep the phone available until the code is accepted. If you use a dual-SIM phone, confirm that the selected number is the one receiving messages. A code sent to a different number or an expired code will not complete this stage.

4. Complete Basic Verification
On the Verify Identity screen, enter the last four digits of your SSN and complete the requested personal-information fields. Confirm your current physical residential address; do not enter a PO Box. Binance.US uses these details to establish your legal identity and determine whether the account can be verified.

Basic Verification is not a substitute for Advanced Verification when the latter is required for your intended activity. Finish the basic flow first, then review the Profile & Limits area to see which functions and personalized limits are available to your account.
5. Add Advanced Verification only if you need it
For higher limits or OTC access, sign in and open Profile & Limits. Choose Advanced Verification, upload a supported government ID, and complete the facial selfie-verification step. Advanced Verification includes the Basic features and adds increased bank-transfer limits and OTC trading.
Follow the on-screen capture instructions for both the document and selfie. The document image should show the complete card or page, and the selfie should show your face without anything obscuring the relevant features. If the system asks for a second capture, change the lighting or angle rather than repeatedly submitting the same blurry image.
Mobile-app and Apple Sign-In signup
The mobile app follows the same core sequence: authenticate with email or Apple, set up SMS, then complete identity verification. On iOS, Apple Sign-In requires app version 3.48.0 or higher according to Binance.US’s Apple guide.
Apple Sign-In can automatically satisfy the initial email-confirmation step, but it does not bypass SMS setup, biometric consent, or identity verification. Binance.US states that those additional steps are still required for full trading capabilities. If you use an Apple relay email address, make sure you can still receive account messages at the address connected to your Apple ID.
Apple authentication changes only how the account starts; it does not change the identity information Binance.US needs. You still provide your legal name, residential address and SSN or ITIN-related information, and you still need an accepted ID and selfie for Advanced Verification.
What Basic Verification enables
Basic Verification is the standard identity level for a verified account. Subject to personalized limits and regional availability, it supports:

Limits are personalized, so passing Basic Verification does not imply a single universal transaction ceiling. Your available functions can also depend on where you live.

Basic status also does not guarantee that every listed function is available in every state. Confirm the capabilities shown in your own Profile & Limits page, especially if you live in a crypto-only location where USD services are unavailable.
What Advanced Verification adds
Advanced Verification keeps the Basic features and adds increased bank-transfer limits and OTC trading. It requires both a valid government ID and automated facial verification. Choose it when your planned activity exceeds the limits shown on your account or when you need OTC access; it is not required merely to create an account.

The practical difference is the evidence and the limits: Basic relies on identity and address information, while Advanced adds documentary and facial confirmation. There is no need to upload an ID simply to start the account if the Basic flow is sufficient for your needs, but you should have one ready if you expect to request higher limits.

For Advanced Verification, Binance.US lists these government IDs:
- U.S. passport, with the signature visible on the information page.
- State driver’s license or state learner’s permit.
- State identification card.
- U.S. passport card.
- Employment Authorization Card.
- Permanent Resident Card.
The document must be valid and unexpired. Photograph it clearly with every required corner visible; submit both sides when the document has information on both sides. Do not use an image with glare, blur, heavy shadows or a hand covering text.
Use the exact document belonging to the person named on the account. A cropped image that omits an expiry date, a passport page without the required signature, or a card photographed at an angle can prevent the system from reading the fields even when the document itself is valid.
Proof of address: when and how to submit it
Binance.US may request manual proof of address after or during identity review. The document should be a complete, legible PDF issued within the last 90 days and display your full name and residential address. Examples listed by Binance.US include:

Submit the original document rather than a cropped screenshot. If support sends a secure upload link by email, use that link and upload the complete PDF. The address must match the residential address on your account; a PO Box alone does not satisfy the requirement.
Check the issue date before uploading. A document that was accurate last year may be rejected if it is older than 90 days, incomplete, or missing the name and address on the same document. Keep the PDF at its original resolution so text remains readable.
Why Binance.US asks for your SSN
The SSN or ITIN information is part of Binance.US’s identity-verification process. The platform asks for the last four SSN digits during the initial screen and may require a valid SSN or ITIN for verification. This information is used alongside your legal name, address and other identity data to confirm that the person opening the account can be identified and assessed for service eligibility.

Enter the information only in the official Binance.US signup or verification interface. Do not send SSN details in an unsolicited message or to anyone who asks you to bypass the normal verification screens.
Providing only the last four digits at the initial screen does not mean the rest of the verification process is optional. Binance.US can still request additional identity fields, a government ID, a facial check or proof of address, depending on the verification level and review.
How long verification takes
Binance.US’s published onboarding requirements do not provide a guaranteed completion time. Straightforward automated checks can finish without manual intervention, while mismatched information, unclear images, an expired ID or a proof-of-address request can extend the review. Treat any displayed estimate as a case-specific indication rather than a promise.
You can reduce avoidable delays by checking your state first, using an unexpired document, matching your legal name and address exactly, submitting sharp images with all corners visible, and responding promptly if Binance.US requests a complete proof-of-address PDF.
Submitting repeated conflicting applications can make troubleshooting harder. If a review is pending, first check whether Binance.US has requested a replacement image or document, then provide the requested item through the official flow rather than opening multiple accounts.
Fix common signup and verification failures
Residence is not supported
Stop before submitting more documents if your current residence appears on the unsupported list. An unsupported resident cannot complete verification. If you are in Kansas or Wisconsin, confirm whether the USD feature you need is unavailable because those locations are currently crypto-only.
Name or address does not match
Compare the account profile with your ID and proof-of-address document character by character. Use your current physical residence, not a mailing-only PO Box. Correct the profile before uploading again rather than repeatedly submitting conflicting documents.
ID upload is rejected
- Use a valid, unexpired document from the accepted list.
- Place the document on a dark background, as Binance.US recommends.
- Use good lighting and remove glare.
- Keep every required corner in the frame and submit both sides where applicable.
- Retake the image if any text is blurred or blocked.
Selfie verification fails
Use even lighting, keep your entire face visible and follow the on-screen movement or positioning prompts. Remove anything that obscures facial features. A selfie check is required for Advanced Verification, so completing Basic Verification does not eliminate this step when you upgrade.
The website will not accept an upload
Try the Binance.US mobile app, another browser, an Incognito window or a different device. These changes can resolve camera, file-picker or session problems without changing the information you submit.

Proof-of-address upload fails
Use the secure link supplied by Binance.US support or email. Upload the complete original document as a legible PDF, issued within the last 90 days, with your full name and residential address visible. Avoid edited, partial or low-resolution files.

SMS code does not arrive
Confirm that the phone number and country setting are correct, wait for the current code rather than entering an older one, and request a new code only after the resend option becomes available. SMS remains required for initial signup even if you intend to use another two-factor method later.
Apple Sign-In seems complete but trading is unavailable
Apple Sign-In completes only the initial email step. Finish SMS setup, biometric consent and Identity Verification to obtain full trading capabilities. Update the iOS app to version 3.48.0 or higher if the Apple option is missing.

- Confirm your state or territory is currently supported and check whether USD services are available where you live.
- Confirm you are at least 18 and have access to the signup email and an SMS-capable phone.
- Use your legal name and current physical residential address; exclude any PO Box.
