A slow or frozen TradingView chart is usually caused by the browser session, an overloaded device, an indicator, security software, or a network connection—not by the candles themselves. Start by checking whether TradingView has reported an incident, then isolate the problem by testing a clean browser session, reducing chart load, and comparing the web app with TradingView Desktop. If prices update but drawings or layouts do not save, you are dealing with synchronization rather than a live-data failure.
Start by identifying what is actually broken
“Loading slowly,” “not updating,” and “not saving” describe different failures. A blank chart that never finishes loading points toward a browser, app, network, or service problem. A chart that appears but has a laggy cursor or frozen controls often reflects CPU, memory, extensions, or heavy indicators. A last price that remains unchanged can be a connection or market-data issue. Drawings that disappear or fail to appear on another device are a layout-synchronization problem, even when the live feed is current.

Write down the scope before changing settings. Check whether the symptom appears in one browser profile, one device, every device you use, or for many users. Note whether it began after a long browser session, after adding an indicator, or at the same time as a TradingView status notice. These observations prevent you from clearing caches when the underlying cause is a provider incident, or from blaming an outage when only one browser profile is affected.

Check TradingView’s service status before troubleshooting locally
Open TradingView Status in a second tab or on another device. Its history records chart-loading incidents, provider events described as charts not updating, maintenance, and resolution times. If the status page shows an active incident that matches your symptom, local cache changes, browser restarts, and hardware adjustments cannot repair the affected service. Wait for the incident to be resolved while preserving the status details and time for your own record.

Status history is also useful when only one data provider or market is affected. A provider-specific event can leave some symbols stale while other charts continue to move. That pattern is different from a browser failure, which normally follows your profile or device across symbols.
A historical example of the distinction
TradingView’s status history records a “Slow loading data” incident on 28 May 2019 and marks it resolved at 14:30 GMT the same day. That record is historical, not evidence of a current outage, but it demonstrates why checking the service page comes before repeatedly changing local settings. The status wording “We’ve identified the problem when charts load very slowly” describes a service-side condition that users could not fix on their own.
Apply the browser fixes in TradingView’s recommended order
TradingView says performance depends on factors including the number of open tabs, browser extensions such as Adblock, and how long the browser has run without restarting. Use the following sequence so each test gives you information about the cause.
- Reload the chart page. A reload recreates the page session and can clear a transient loading state. Observe whether the chart finishes loading and whether the latest candles begin moving.
- Restart the browser. Close the browser completely, reopen it, and load TradingView again. A browser that has been running for a long time can accumulate resource use or a stale session.
- Close additional tabs. Leave only the chart open for the test. Multiple tabs compete for memory and processor time, especially when other pages are active or updating in the background.
- Disable added extensions. Remove or disable extensions, beginning with ad blockers and tools that alter page content or inspect network traffic. Test the chart after each change rather than disabling everything permanently.
- Try another browser. Use a separate browser with a fresh profile if possible. If the chart works there, the original browser profile, its extensions, or stored site data becomes the leading suspect.
Use a private window as a comparison
Open TradingView in a private or incognito window when your browser provides that option. This is a diagnostic comparison, not a guaranteed fix. If the chart loads and updates in the private window but not in the normal profile, an extension or site data in the normal profile is a likely lead. Re-enable extensions one at a time or clear the affected site data through your browser’s own settings, then retest.

What a browser comparison can and cannot prove
A successful second-browser test shows that the original browser environment is involved; it does not identify which extension, cached session, or profile setting is responsible. A failure in both browsers on the same device still leaves network, security software, system resources, account state, and a service incident in play. A failure across multiple devices and networks points away from one local browser profile.
Fix TradingView Desktop separately
TradingView Desktop has its own update and cache controls. A web-browser test is important because it separates an app-specific problem from a broader account or network problem.
- Verify the app is current. In TradingView Desktop, open the three-dot menu and choose Settings → About. Use the available update process if a newer version is offered, then relaunch the app.
- Clear the Desktop cache. Open Settings → Service → Clear cache. After the cache is cleared, relaunch TradingView Desktop rather than continuing in the same session.
- Compare with the web app. Open TradingView in a browser and load the same symbol and timeframe. If the browser works while Desktop does not, continue with Desktop updates, cache, indicators, and security-software checks. If both fail in the same way, investigate the network, provider status, or service status instead.
Clearing the Desktop cache addresses stale local application data; it does not repair an active TradingView outage or a market-data provider incident. Record whether the problem returns immediately after relaunch or only after the app has been open for a long session.

Reduce chart and system load
Resource pressure commonly looks like a frozen interface: the page may be present, but the cursor, controls, or candles respond late. TradingView warns that resource-intensive indicators can cause tab crashes. Test the chart with the smallest practical workload before changing system settings.

Isolate an indicator that overloads the chart
- Open the affected chart and disable every indicator.
- Reload or relaunch the chart and check whether panning, symbol changes, and updates respond normally.
- Re-enable indicators one at a time, allowing the chart to settle after each addition.
- When the slowdown or crash returns, remove the last indicator and test again to confirm that it is the trigger.
This method identifies a workload problem without assuming that every indicator is defective. An indicator may be acceptable alone but too demanding when combined with several others or a long browser session.
Check the rest of the computer
- Close other resource-intensive applications while testing the chart.
- Inspect CPU and memory use in your operating system’s process monitor. High, sustained use during the slowdown supports a local resource diagnosis.
- Keep the operating system and device drivers current, as TradingView recommends.
- Repeat the same chart test after reducing other workloads so you can tell whether the improvement came from fewer competing applications.
Do not buy a new monitor, cable, router, cooling pad, or graphics card solely because a chart is slow. The documented troubleshooting path starts with browser state, indicators, applications, drivers, and network or security software. Hardware changes make sense only after measurements show a persistent system bottleneck and other causes have been excluded.
Check antivirus, firewalls, VPNs, and network-monitoring tools
TradingView lists antivirus programs, firewalls, VPN clients, and network-monitoring tools as software that can interfere with operation. These tools may block or inspect requests needed to load chart data, maintain a connection, or save a layout.

- Temporarily test the chart with one suspected tool paused, using only the shortest time needed to compare behavior.
- Reload TradingView and test the same symbol, timeframe, and chart layout.
- If the chart works only while a tool is paused, restore protection immediately and configure that tool to allow TradingView traffic instead of leaving protection disabled.
A failed test does not prove that the tool is innocent if several filters operate at once; test one change at a time where practical. Never leave antivirus, firewall, VPN, or monitoring protection disabled as a permanent workaround.

VPN-specific clues
If TradingView works on a direct connection but fails through a VPN, the VPN path or its filtering policy is a useful lead. Compare the same chart without the VPN and, if permitted by your security policy, with a different server location. A provider-specific market-data event can still affect both paths, so confirm the result against TradingView Status before concluding that the VPN is the cause.

First look for a warning displayed on the chart page. Notices about a closed connection or a parallel chart connection have notice-specific guidance in TradingView’s chart-page warning help index. Follow the instructions for the exact warning rather than applying a generic cache reset.
If the warning concerns a connection, compare the chart in another browser or on another device and check whether other symbols update. If only one provider or market is affected, review status notices for a provider event. If every client shows stale prices at the same time, a TradingView service incident becomes more plausible than a single browser defect.

Do not confuse stale prices with unsaved drawings
TradingView treats chart data updates and chart persistence as separate concerns. If candles and prices move but drawings, layouts, or cross-device saves fail, use the separate “Charts are not saving/not syncing” help section. Those symptoms indicate a saving or synchronization problem; they do not, by themselves, show that the market feed is stale.

Conversely, if a drawing appears on one device but not another while the last price updates on both, troubleshoot synchronization and account persistence rather than changing indicators or network hardware. Keeping these paths separate avoids destructive changes to a working chart setup.
Use scope, timing, and surface to choose the next test

A complete recovery sequence
When the cause is unclear, run the checks in this order and record the result after each one:
- Check TradingView Status in a second tab or on another device.
- Identify whether the failure is loading, interaction lag, stale prices, or synchronization.
- Reload the chart, restart the browser, close extra tabs, disable added extensions, and test another browser.
- Use a private or incognito window to compare a clean profile with the normal one.
- If you use TradingView Desktop, verify updates through the three-dot menu and Settings → About, then clear cache through Settings → Service → Clear cache and relaunch.
- Disable all indicators, test the chart, and re-enable them individually.
- Close demanding applications and inspect CPU and memory use; update the operating system and drivers.
- Test antivirus, firewall, VPN, and network-monitoring interference briefly, then restore protection and allow TradingView traffic through the responsible tool.
- For a chart warning, follow the warning-specific help instructions. For drawings or layouts that do not save, use the chart-saving and syncing guidance instead of treating the issue as stale market data.
- Compare the same symbol and timeframe on another device or network. Use the resulting scope to decide whether to wait for a service or provider incident or continue local troubleshooting.
When to stop changing settings
Stop local troubleshooting when TradingView Status shows an incident matching your symptom, when the same failure appears across devices and networks, or when a provider-specific event explains why only certain data is stale. Repeated cache clearing during an outage cannot accelerate resolution and may remove useful local state without addressing the cause.

Keep a short record of the time, device, browser or Desktop version, symbol, warning text, and result of each comparison; that information makes a support report much more actionable.
What the evidence does—and does not—establish
TradingView’s published troubleshooting guidance identifies browser tabs, extensions, long-running sessions, indicators, system resources, security software, and network tools as meaningful variables. It does not publish an authoritative success rate, latency threshold, performance benchmark, or sample size for these fixes. Therefore, no universal “acceptable” loading time or guaranteed remedy can be inferred. The reliable approach is controlled comparison: change one factor, retest the same chart, and use the scope of the result to select the next branch.
