For a store that has not opened yet, check Publix’s corporate New Store Openings newsroom. Search it for your city, county, shopping center, or state, and verify any announcement against the newest official update before relying on an opening date.

Open Publix’s Locations page and search by the place most likely to identify the project:

- Enter a city or state if you are checking a wider area or do not yet know the exact site.
- Allow location access when prompted if you want the page to use your current position.
- Review each returned store record, including its address and listed details.
- Apply the available filters for pharmacy, liquor, services, and “Open Now” when those features matter to your search.
The locator is the fastest way to see Publix’s current, published store records near a place. It is not a substitute for a corporate announcement about a store that is still being planned or built. A search with no result means the locator has no matching public store record at that moment; it does not, by itself, settle whether a future project has been announced elsewhere.

Check Publix’s opening-announcement newsroom
For planned, under-construction, or recently opened locations, use the corporate New Store Openings newsroom. Publix describes this section as a place for new-store announcements and recent-opening notices. Search within the page for:
- your city or nearby city;
- the county;
- the shopping center or development name;
- your state; and
- terms such as “grand opening” or “new store.”
A newsroom announcement is stronger evidence than a construction rumor because it comes from Publix itself. Read the full item rather than relying on a headline: the exact shopping-center name, municipality, store status, and any stated date give you a more precise match than a broad claim that Publix is “coming” to a region.

Publix’s Kentucky launch page, for example, tells readers: “Use the map to see where and when a Publix is opening near you.” At the time that page was accessed, it identified three Kentucky stores as open:
- The Shops at Pear Orchard in Elizabethtown;
- Gateway Commons in Owensboro; and
- Farmview Commons in Florence.
The Kentucky example shows why a state page is worth checking when one exists: it can combine geographic context with a named-store list and an opening status. Do not assume that every state has an identical page or that a map’s status will remain unchanged; use the newest information on the page and then recheck the corporate newsroom.

Confirm that the proposed site is actually in Publix’s footprint
Publix’s published operating footprint covers Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and Kentucky. If your city is in one of those states, search the locator and newsroom using the city and nearby development names. If it is outside those eight states, the official footprint information does not establish a Publix expansion there, so be especially cautious with social posts or real-estate speculation.
State boundaries alone are not enough to identify a store. A development may be marketed using a nearby community, an unincorporated area, or a county name. Try the exact shopping-center name and the surrounding municipality, then compare the address in any official result with the location you heard about.

A construction sign gives a date
