What you can download—and what each route means
Betting exchanges generally offer several different records. Choosing the wrong one is the main reason an export appears incomplete.

Statement or account-history CSV
A statement export is the quickest way to obtain the transactions the exchange currently displays: bets, account movements and, depending on the platform, deposits, withdrawals, fees and settlements. The CSV mirrors the selected screen, not necessarily every record the operator stores. If the page shows only 90 days, the downloaded file normally contains only those 90 days.

Transaction or payment reports
Some exchanges separate betting activity from money movements. You may need one report for bets and another for deposits, withdrawals, payment methods, balances or commission. Download every relevant report rather than assuming one statement contains all categories.

Privacy or data-portability copy
A broader request can cover registration details, betting and gaming history, deposits and transactions, payments and withdrawals, customer-support interactions, safer-gambling tools, marketing choices and opt-outs. This is not the same as a CSV statement. The exchange may ask for proof of identity and may provide the response in a commonly used machine-readable format, such as CSV, where appropriate.
Historical market data
A market-data service is a different product again. It contains time-stamped market prices, exchange events and settlement information for analysis or back-testing, rather than your personal bets, deposits or withdrawals. A market-data download cannot substitute for an account-history export.

Prepare before exporting
- Use the official sign-in route. Avoid links in unsolicited messages. Open the exchange’s known website or official app and sign in there.
- Identify the account and jurisdiction. Menu names, retention periods and privacy procedures can differ by country or regulatory entity.
- Define the period precisely. Write down the first and last date, and whether you need betting records, settlements, deposits, withdrawals, fees, or all of them.
- Note the account timezone. A date shown on screen may be interpreted in the exchange’s local or account timezone, which can move transactions across midnight when you reconcile them.
- Have secure storage ready. Keep an untouched original and a second protected copy. Encrypt the file or use access-controlled storage because it can contain financial and identity information.
Step-by-step: export the records visible in your account
- Sign in directly to the exchange and complete any multi-factor authentication prompt.
- Open the history area. Look for Statement, Account History, Transaction History, My Activity or a similar label. On some platforms this is under an account or wallet menu.
- Set the date range. Enter the exact start and end dates. If the exchange limits the range, plan consecutive, non-overlapping downloads so no day is missed or duplicated.
- Select the record type. If separate tabs or reports exist for bets, settlements, deposits, withdrawals, payments or commission, export each one you need.
- Choose CSV or the available machine-readable option. Save the file without editing it. If the interface offers a report identifier or generated-file date, retain that information with the download.
- Check the file immediately. Confirm the first and last transaction dates, timezone, currency, stake, payout or liability, commission or fees and settlement fields. Make sure the row count is plausible and that settled, voided, cancelled and open bets are distinguishable.
- Document the export. In a separate note, record the exchange, jurisdiction, account identifier (not your password), export date, requested date range, timezone and the names of every file downloaded.
Fields worth checking in a CSV

Smarkets: a straightforward statement export with a defined boundary
How to download it
In Smarkets, open the statement page and use the download as CSV option at the bottom left of the statement screen. The resulting file contains the data displayed on that statement. Set the date filter before downloading and check the file against the visible first and last rows.
When the statement is too short
Smarkets states that requests covering more than the previous 12 months, including the entire account history, require contacting support. Specify the exact start and end dates and whether you need bets, settlements, deposits, withdrawals, fees or another category. A normal statement CSV will not silently expand to include older records.

Betfair: transaction history, older reports and jurisdiction limits
Transaction History in My Activity
The Betfair help flow described for its regional service places Transaction History under My Account > My Activity. The page lists transaction details such as betting activity, deposits, withdrawals, payment method, amounts, account balance and commission. Use the filters and export controls shown for your account rather than relying on labels from another country’s site.
Transaction Report for older records
The same help material describes a Transaction Report option for older records, with reports covering up to the previous 36 months and a date-range limit of up to 31 days per report in that interface. Both limits are jurisdiction-specific: your account may show different rules or controls. For a 36-month period, create sequential 31-day files, verify the boundaries and keep a log so adjacent reports neither overlap unexpectedly nor leave a gap.

Request a complete copy of personal data
Use the exchange’s privacy, data-protection or data-portability channel when you need more than the rows shown in a statement. State that you want a copy of the personal data associated with your account and identify the date range and categories that matter. A useful request lists:

Betfair UKI’s privacy statement says identity proof may be requested and that a response is provided within one month. That timing and the documents accepted can depend on the legal entity and your jurisdiction, so follow the instructions supplied by the exchange. Do not email a password, full payment-card number or unnecessary identity documents; use the secure channel specified by the operator.

Why a downloaded CSV may not be complete

Preserve and secure your export
Keep an untouched original
Do not sort, rename columns or convert the first copy before you have verified it. Make a working copy for analysis and leave the original read-only if possible. Record the download date and the exact filters used; two files with similar names can otherwise be impossible to distinguish later.
Use controlled storage
Store the original and backup where access is limited. An offline USB copy can be useful, but protect the device and encrypt sensitive files. Avoid leaving account exports in a shared public folder or an unsecured computer. Delete temporary downloads from devices you do not control.
Reconcile separate files
When bets, payments and settlements arrive in different CSVs, retain each source file and create a separate reconciliation sheet. Match on the exchange’s transaction or bet identifier when supplied, then compare timestamps, currency and amounts. Never “fix” a mismatch by overwriting source data; document the adjustment in the working copy.

Do not confuse your account export with market-data downloads
Betfair’s Historical Data service is a purchasable dataset of time-stamped exchange-market, price and settlement information. It can be filtered before download and converted from JSON to CSV. That data helps with market analysis or back-testing; it does not list your personal deposits, withdrawals, account balance or private support records. The service recommends custom filters and says keeping a download at 1000 MB or less improves performance and reduces interruption risk. If your goal is proof of your own transactions, use account history or the privacy channel instead.
