Square’s documented credit-card rewards are cash back, not Bitcoin. The Square Credit Card FAQ says eligible Square sellers earn 1.5% cash back on every purchase. Square lists three ways to redeem that balance: a statement credit, cash back to an eligible Square Savings account, or credits that offset future Square processing fees. See Square’s official card FAQ and redemption instructions.
That means you cannot follow a Square Credit Card rewards setting to receive Bitcoin, and Square does not document a Bitcoin-specific earning multiplier for card purchases. Square does offer a separate Bitcoin Conversions feature for eligible sellers, but it uses a selected percentage of sales proceeds to buy Bitcoin; it does not convert card cash-back rewards.

What you actually earn with the Square Credit Card
The card’s published reward is 1.5% cash back on every purchase for eligible cardholders. Square’s public FAQ does not describe those rewards as Bitcoin, cryptocurrency, points, miles, or a Bitcoin rebate. The balance is presented as cash back in the Square Credit Card rewards dashboard.
For an illustration, a $100 purchase at the published rate would produce $1.50 in cash back before any account-specific terms or adjustments. A $1,000 purchase would produce $15, and $10,000 would produce $150 at the same rate. These are arithmetic illustrations, not a guarantee that every transaction qualifies or that your account has identical terms. Your cardholder agreement controls the terms that apply to your account, so use the rate shown for your offer rather than assuming that every Square account has identical credit terms.
#1 Best Overall
Square says the card is currently invite-only for eligible Square sellers. Your Square sales volume, sales history, and account status are among the factors that can affect your credit limit, interest rate, and other account terms. An invitation does not establish one universal credit limit or annual percentage rate; review the offer and agreement in Square Dashboard before applying or relying on the card.
How do I earn Bitcoin rewards from a Square credit card?
You do not earn Bitcoin rewards from the Square Credit Card under Square’s documented program. You earn the card’s cash-back reward by making purchases with the card, subject to the terms in your cardholder agreement. Square’s published materials do not advertise a Bitcoin reward category or a higher Bitcoin-related rate.
Do not buy Bitcoin with the card on the assumption that the purchase will earn a special Bitcoin reward. A Bitcoin purchase would still be governed by the card’s normal purchase-reward rules, if it is an eligible purchase under your agreement; Square does not promise a Bitcoin-specific bonus in the card FAQ.

Square says redemption requires both an active Square Credit Card account and an available rewards balance. Rewards appear as a cash-back balance in the card rewards dashboard. If the account is closed, restricted, or has no available balance, the redemption controls may not be available.
- An active Square Credit Card account.
- An available cash-back balance shown in the rewards dashboard.
- Access to Square Dashboard or Square’s mobile web experience.
- An eligible Square Savings account if you choose the Savings cash-back option.
How to redeem Square Credit Card rewards
Square’s documented path is the same until you choose how to use the balance. You can complete it in Square Dashboard or on Square’s mobile web experience.
- Sign in to Square Dashboard or Square mobile web.
- Open Banking.
- Select Credit Card.
- Open Rewards.
- Choose Redeem.
- Select a redemption type.
- Enter the amount you want to redeem from the available cash-back balance.
- Review the destination, amount, and any option-specific terms.
- Confirm the redemption.
Square’s help article describes the result for each choice. Once confirmed, a redemption cannot be treated as Bitcoin or moved between options as if it were a cryptocurrency balance; select the destination carefully before confirming.
Redemption option 1: statement credit
A statement credit applies the selected amount to your Square Credit Card account. In Dashboard, choose Statement credit, enter an amount no greater than your available cash-back balance, review the credit, and confirm.

Square says the completed credit appears in your card activity and on your monthly statement. This is the most direct option when you want to reduce the amount owed on the card itself rather than move money to a savings account or offset future payment-processing fees.
When a statement credit fits
- You want the reward applied directly to the card account.
- You do not have, or do not want to use, an eligible Square Savings account.
- You prefer a card-activity and statement record of the redemption.
Redemption option 2: Square Savings cash back
Choose Savings cash back to send the selected amount to an eligible Square Savings account. Enter the amount, review the destination and redemption details, and confirm.
Square says the credit is applied to the eligible Square Savings account and appears in that account’s activity feed and monthly statement. The Savings option therefore depends on having an eligible Square Savings account connected to the card relationship; it is not a transfer to an arbitrary external bank account.
When Savings cash back fits
- You already maintain an eligible Square Savings account.
- You want the reward separated from the card balance.
- You want the redemption documented in the Savings activity feed and statement.
Redemption option 3: free processing
Select Free processing when you want the reward to offset future Square payment-processing fees. Enter a cash-back amount, review the estimated processing credits, and confirm.

The credits are applied automatically to future Square processing fees until the redeemed value is used. Their precise value depends on the current processing rates and your business’s payment mix. Square says the credits are expected, on average, to be worth at least the original dollar value redeemed, but the amount of processing activity and the rates in effect determine how the benefit is realized for your business.
Square states that free-processing credits are valid for 365 calendar days from redemption. If you redeem $50, for example, that $50 is not a Bitcoin balance and is not a perpetual fee waiver; it is a processing credit that must be used within the stated validity period. Review the expiration information shown during redemption and plan your processing volume accordingly.
When free processing fits
- Your business regularly accepts payments through Square.
- You expect to incur Square processing fees before the 365-day validity period ends.
- You are comfortable with the value varying according to current processing rates and payment mix.
Compare the three documented redemption choices
| Choice | Where value is applied | How you use it | Conditions and timing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Statement credit | Your Square Credit Card account | Reduces the card balance and appears in card activity and the monthly statement | Requires an active account and available rewards balance |
| Savings cash back | An eligible Square Savings account | Appears in the Savings activity feed and monthly statement | Requires an eligible Square Savings account, an active card account, and available rewards |
| Free processing | Future Square processing fees | Credits apply automatically as eligible processing fees occur | Value depends on current processing rates and payment mix; valid for 365 calendar days after redemption |
Square says the options use the same cash-back value under the rate in your cardholder agreement. Free processing is the exception in practical use: its realized benefit depends on the fees your business would otherwise incur and the rates applicable when those payments are processed.

How the cash-back balance works in practice
The rewards dashboard is the place to verify both the available balance and the redemption choices currently enabled for your account. The 1.5% figure is a rate applied to eligible purchases under your agreement, not a separate wallet of Bitcoin or another tradable asset. If your balance is smaller than the amount you enter, the dashboard should be treated as the controlling figure for what can be redeemed.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsBefore confirming, compare the destination with the way your business will use the value. A statement credit produces an account-level reduction. Savings cash back places the amount in the eligible Square Savings relationship. Free processing does not create spendable cash; it reduces fees only as qualifying Square payment activity occurs. Those differences matter even when the displayed dollar amount is the same.
Why Square Bitcoin Conversions are not card rewards
Square’s Bitcoin Conversions feature is a separate seller product. Its terms describe it this way: “Bitcoin Conversions enables eligible Square sellers to automatically select a percentage of their proceeds from card sales to purchase bitcoin on a recurring basis.” The sentence appears in Square’s Bitcoin Terms of Service, last updated March 16, 2026.
In other words, Bitcoin Conversions starts with proceeds from your business’s eligible sales. The Square Credit Card rewards program starts with purchases made on the card and produces cash back. One does not turn into the other.
How the separate conversion feature works
According to Square’s support article on converting sales into Bitcoin, eligible sellers can select a percentage of specified Square sales proceeds for recurring Bitcoin purchases. Square says the conversion carries a 1% conversion fee and is not supported for businesses located in New York. Those terms concern the Bitcoin product, not the card’s cash-back redemption choices.

Eligibility, supported sales types, account requirements, fees, and geographic availability for Bitcoin Conversions are governed by the Bitcoin terms and the settings available to your seller account. Do not infer that an invitation to the credit card also grants access to Bitcoin Conversions, or that using Bitcoin Conversions changes your card reward rate.
Choosing the right redemption destination
Choose a statement credit if reducing card debt is the priority
A statement credit is the clearest choice when you want the reward to reduce the amount due on the Square Credit Card. It does not require you to estimate future payment-processing volume, and Square records it in the card account’s activity and monthly statement.
Rank #4
Choose Savings cash back if you want to retain the money separately
Savings cash back makes sense when an eligible Square Savings account is already part of your business cash-management setup. Confirm the destination shown on the review screen before approving the redemption, because this option is limited to the eligible Savings account rather than a general bank transfer.
Choose free processing only when you can use it in time
Free processing can be useful for a business that expects enough Square payment volume during the next 365 calendar days. If your business processes little through Square, or you may stop using Square before the credits expire, a statement credit or Savings cash back may be easier to realize. The processing option’s value is tied to future fees, not to a fixed Bitcoin or cash payout.
What to check when the Redeem button is missing
Square identifies two basic prerequisites: an active Square Credit Card account and an available rewards balance. Check those first before treating a missing control as a technical error.
- Confirm that you are signed in to the Square account associated with the card.
- Open Banking > Credit Card > Rewards and look for an available cash-back balance.
- Verify that the card account is active and not restricted or closed.
- If you selected Savings cash back, confirm that an eligible Square Savings account is available.
- Review the cardholder agreement and account notices for account-specific restrictions or changes.
- If the dashboard still does not show the expected balance or redemption controls, use Square Support through the signed-in account so the card and seller profile can be checked together.
Do not create a Bitcoin wallet or purchase Bitcoin to solve a missing cash-back redemption control. Those actions are unrelated to the Square Credit Card rewards workflow.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Confusing purchases with sales proceeds. Card rewards come from purchases made with the Square Credit Card. Bitcoin Conversions use a selected share of eligible business-sales proceeds.
- Assuming an invitation fixes your terms. Square says sales volume, history, and account status can affect credit limits, interest rates, and other terms. Read your own offer and agreement.
- Choosing free processing without a usage plan. The credit is tied to future Square processing fees and expires 365 calendar days after redemption.
- Expecting an outside-bank transfer. The documented destinations are the card account, an eligible Square Savings account, or future Square processing fees.
- Looking for a Bitcoin redemption button. The rewards dashboard shows cash back; Bitcoin settings belong to the separate Bitcoin product.
A practical redemption checklist
Before you redeem, note the available cash-back balance and decide whether you need to lower the card balance, move value into eligible Square Savings, or offset fees from expected Square sales. If you select free processing, check the displayed estimate and the 365-day validity window. After confirming, look for the resulting entry in the relevant card activity, Savings activity feed, monthly statement, or processing-fee records. Keeping those records helps you match the redemption to the destination Square describes.
For a business with regular Square payment volume, free processing may align with ordinary operating costs. For a business that does not know when it will process payments through Square, the direct statement-credit or Savings choices avoid relying on future payment activity. The best choice is therefore a fit decision, not a Bitcoin investment decision.

Important limits and wording to keep straight
- Cash back is not Bitcoin. The published card benefit is 1.5% cash back on purchases, not a cryptocurrency payout.
- Redemption is account-based. Square requires an active card account and available rewards balance.
- Processing credits are not cash. They offset future Square processing fees, depend on current rates and payment mix, and expire 365 calendar days after redemption.
- Seller Bitcoin products are separate. Bitcoin Conversions use a selected percentage of eligible sales proceeds and have their own terms, including the stated 1% conversion fee and New York restriction.
- Your agreement controls your account. Square says sales volume, history, and status can affect credit terms, so rely on the offer and agreement shown in your Square Dashboard.
Bottom line for the title’s Bitcoin question
If you searched for “How do I earn Bitcoin rewards from a Square credit card?”, the accurate answer is that Square’s documented card program does not offer Bitcoin rewards. Eligible cardholders earn 1.5% cash back on purchases and can redeem it through Banking > Credit Card > Rewards > Redeem as a statement credit, Savings cash back, or free-processing credits. Bitcoin Conversions are a separate way for eligible sellers to use part of their sales proceeds to buy Bitcoin and should not be confused with card rewards.
